Do you Drink?

Yes on weekend I usually have a drink or two I usually drink vodka and water to keep the calorie count down and I really am not much of a soda drinker.
HOWEVER, I just read an article the other day, and forgive me I am not going to state this with 100% accuracy, but it said that vodka actually slows down your metabolism. Even if you are only drinking one or two shots, the calorie intake may not be high but the fact that it slows down your metabolism so much is what makes it lethal!! The article suggested red wine as a substitution and said that people who have one or two glasses of red wine were much more likely to lose weight than those who drank vodka, and I actually believe it said than those who drank no alcohol at all
So drink away my friends!!!0 -
Actually here it goes:
Have a glass of wine. Rat studies show that resveratrol, a compound in red wine, may help fight weight gain when eating a high-fat diet. The same seems to hold true in humans. Harvard researchers found that women who drank about two glasses a day gained less weight and were less likely to become overweight than teetotalers.
But avoid vodka. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that drinking even as little as 1 ounce of vodka can slow your metabolism by as much as 73%. (Video: Craft a slimmer cocktail)0 -
Ocassional glass of red wine or sweet desert wine (moscato or a riesling) and of course my Jamesons or McCallan 15 on the rocks. I'll log them in!0

I don't drink - I'm allergic; I break out in car crashes, bankruptcies, and divorces0

I quit. I have always enjoyed wine, but when I learned how many empty calories it has, I stopped (recently). I tried logging it, but my weight loss was going too slowly. So I gave it up. I will have it socially, when I go out with friends, and on New Years Eve, but I don't keep any in my house. Too easy to just pour a glass after dinner.
Have you noticed a difference in your weight loss since you gave it up?0 -
At least a glass or two of wine almost nightly or a skinny margarita!
Exactly! I like to enjoy a nice glass of wine as well. Not a big or heavy drinker. I'm going to the Music City Bowl tomorrow night and have to decide if I'm going to have a couple beers or not...I just hate to feel bloated if I drink a beer. :drinker:0 -
I definitely drink, but I try to watch it. If I'm feeling so-so that night, or know a night out will be lame, I go out sober. If a night is gonna be awesome, I'll drink. Usually that is 1-in-4 nights lol.0

I don't drink anything alcoholic. I'm a self professed teatotaler.0

I drink on the weekends, and quite a bit sometimes. Not really good for my body, haha.
I rarely drink on the weekdays at all.0 -
I don't drink.
My drinks consist of water and oh water!
I miss soda!

Yes, and it is always reflected in my food diary. For the most part, I stay wtih wine -- which tends to be a seasonal choice -- white in warm months and red in the cold months. I do think it has an impact on weight loss and is metabolized differently. I am going to give up my nightly glass of wine or two for the first 2 weeks in January and see how it impacts me and my weight loss.0

Only socially. House is full of booze but don't touch it0

Hi my name is Magnus, and I am a alcoholic0

I drink everyday. It doesn't seem to effect my weight loss since I don't even exercise like I need and my weight is still mostly in check. I guess that's the gift of being 220

I drink on weekends if i go out. But i never drink a beer or w.e throught the week...only if i go out and am in a social environment.0

I stopped drinking a while back by choice. Now being diagnosed with T2 diabetes, I don't feel like I'm missing it because I can't have it.0
-
I drink every now and then, mostly in social situations. If I'm out, it's a Patron Strawberry Margarita. If I'm relaxing at home, it's either Pinnacle Whipped Vodka on ice, or a cold glass of Moscato wine. Yum! : )0
-
And VicMcAnik, you could always have a mocktail when you go out. ; )0
-
I have about 4 drinks a week. In the past it was dark beer, but now a scotch on the rocks, or rum and (diet) coke is my preferred drink..0
-
I know. Just too many useless carbs to justify. I don't mind water or green tea.0
-
I've had about 24 beer total the last 10 years. And no liquor in the last 3 or 4 years.0

I don't drink the first 8 weeks of the year in support of my dad's sobriety. My birthday is always the end of it. I'm back to drinking, but it's usually beer, or a hard alcohol either straight up or mixed with a SF soda.0
-
Nope. I had my quota when I was much younger. The 19 years sober me feels great. Don't miss the hangovers either.0
-
Nah. Never had a taste for it.
I went to a friend's wedding last summer (oh boy, people I haven't seen since high school) and decided it would be in my best interest to partake in a few spirits. 2-3 'Coke and whatevers' later and I was BLITZED.
My dream when I get older is to come home, throw my blazer on the sofa, and pour myself some expensive Scotch.

Yes, but I try to keep it to weekends. Generally bourbon in winter and fall, and a gin and tonic in spring and summer. I log. it's all good.0
