This site has totally replaced fbook for me and the bonus is that it motivates me to keep a healthy positive lifestyle where as facebook is always so negative and hurtful. I think myfitnesspal should wipe it out completely and the world would be a better nicer healthier place.0

Facebook is ace, just don't sit on your bottom all day using it!0
-
I deactivate mines whenever I start school or my workouts during the summer! Idk why but Facebook takes my motivation away!0

I sooooo wish I could but I'm in the military and it's the easiest way to talk to everyone at once so that I don't have to make individual, long, boring @$$ phone calls. "hey I'm here and alive" will be common posts for me this coming deployment.0

I did!!!! Twice!!
I was a member in Oct 2008 to Aug 2009 (DELETED)
Then I joined again cause a cousin told me it would be good for business. I deleted again after 1 month!! I am a big opponent of FB and think it is the anti-social network. My biggest peave with it is the people that make it the only way they communicate....
i.e.
Out at a bar one night....
Tony: Hi Jim what are you doing here? I called an left you a message to call me about meeting up but you didn't call me back.
Jim: What do you mean? I posted it on FB
(end example)
The whole world has lost its personal skills. It is all about FB and texting to each other. I am a big proponent of FaceTime however. It is the next best substitute for a face to face meeting. My choices of communication are 1. Face to Face meet/hangout 2. FaceTime 3. Phone call 4. Text (only when calling is not possible i.e. meeting) and it has to be a quick text, no conversational texts. Face book is a waste of time and I despise the fact that it is the only way some companies prefer to market with customers. Its despicable.
Completely agree....people email at work vs. picking up the phone and calling. The world has lost to many personl skills for sure!
I worked as a reporter for several years and once had a job that had me on the phone eight hours a day, straight. I DESPISE the phone now. I will gladly talk to you in person, but to plan that in-person meeting, I so much prefer texting, Facebooking or e-mail.0 -
 I deactivated my account right before Christmas. Too much drama... Too much time wasting.
MFP is much better for the drama and time wasting!!!! hahahahaha0 -
I never started a Facebook account & I'm 30! That just isn't my thing.0

how many of you have deleted your facebook and how many of you have had better results in life by doing so0

I just deleted my fb account 2 days ago, became way 2 much drama and 2 many changes, everytime you get use to it, they change it again, if you block people, etc. they change it and then they can get on your wall anyway. One thing I will say for it, it got me back in touch with alot of old school pals and I thank it for that.0

i am with you, not reporter, but secretary.. i hate almost despise talking on phone.. i prefer texting and email all the way0 -
My husband used FB to find women to have inappropriate conversations with. Plus there is just way too much near-porn on there for someone who has an addiction. His account is GONE.0

I have a facebook and I am on it every day. I am a stay at home mom and my friends live all around the globe so I feel it is the best way to have adult interaction. I don't play any games, I don't have any drama. Most of my family is over 6k miles away and this is a cheap and easy way to stay in touch. I wouldn't delete it if you paid me to.0

I have a crop of virtual corn that died while I was reading this thread.... :ohwell:0

you know what is messed up i dont think that i asked if any of you kept your facebook i was wondering how if helped you when you deleted it0
-
I always activated and deactivated mine but am done for good. I like it here better and wont go back. I might activate it when I'm older though to see if I wanna keep in touvh ith anyone0
-
if i didn't have some many family members on it that i only see maybe once or twice a year...or ones that i haven't seen in years cause they have moved out West... I would have gotten rid of it months ago !!!!
I am with you on that!
I agree. However, it is fun to get some snarky comments from old friends every once in a while!0 -
I deleted my facebook. Best decision I have ever made in my entire life.0
-
I got rid of mine about 3-4 months ago. Things have been soooo much better without it. life=good.0
-
confused can you actually FULLY delete your account or JUST deactivate it? I wanted to delete mine but all it would let me do is deactivate it... confused0
-
I rarely go on it, but I do keep up with a lot of friends on it... it's also an excellent way to keep in touch when my phone is dead. I don't like phones, so I don't charge it often. And yes, I still have a brick.0

To me it's like anything else in life; it's great when you use it the right way. I never play any games on there. I don't accept friend requests from people I don't know or haven't seen since high school. I don't chat with anyone live there.
But it helps me keep up with my family and friends that live far away. And I love being able to see pictures of my cousin's kids, etc.
Plus I have "liked" several fitness pages (ie, Fit Sugar, Cathe Friedrich) that help keep me motivated.
So to me, those that say it's a waste of time just don't use it properly. It can be great tool. Um, just like MFP----I've read several comments from people saying they "waste" hours on here every day.
^^this, exactly. Right down to your#67 pounds down on your ticker, same here.0 -
I would never delete it because it's the ONLY way I get to keep updated with friends and family I only see once or twice year. I have a cousin in Alberta with young kids that I'm lucky if I see once a year and a friend far away with four kids that I nearly never see, etc, etc. So I like to be able to see pictures of the kids and be able to be updated on their lives that I otherwise wouldn't be able to.
Not to mention I'm in a few groups that were formed by members on here so I tend to spend a lot of time there actually.0 -
deleted it after 2 months and blocking my nieces. Glad I did it, and will not go back. My computers work so much better now was well.0

I deleted mine yesterday morning. I removed the app from my iPhone and iPad. Today has been weird because I would check it constantly all day long. Yesterday I came to the realization that it makes me hate people. That sounds terrible but I really just get so sic of people bragging about there lives, complaining and posting stupid things constantly. I also realized the people I want to really keep in touch with aren't hardly ever on Facebook. So now I am facebook free and it feels terrific!0

Facebook is my lifeline! where i keep in comtact woth my family & friends that are 8+ hours away. I have cut my use down alot. I dont play games anymore.0

I can't believe how anti social Facebook is getting these days, i know of people who will write statuses about how bored they are, but when you invite them out to do something they'll turn you down cos they're "busy".......busy facebooking, or tending imaginary farms! rofl!! I even have a friend who can't be bothered going out to a club to pick up guys so she adds and "meets up" with random guys from Facebook! lol!
deleted my face book account a few months ago, best thing i ever did!! i have way more time for all the more important things in life!!
although a few strange things happened after i deleted it....... people were giving me sympathy calls and asking if i was ok lol as if someone in my family had passed away or something!!! hahaha
I also lost a few friends, mind you that just shows they weren't real friends to begin with! these were friends who would answer a Facebook message in a flash but took 5 days to answer a text or phone call!!.....good riddance i say!!

I can't stand the drama of facebook, but it's the easiest means I have to stay in touch with my family in England..photos, news, etc. I play some games on there, but I am a stay at home mom for now and it gives me a break from cleaning all the time lol. I don't agree with how it's forming the kids nowadays...to get in touch with them they facebook them or whatever and it's so impersonal. They don't even know how to pick up the phone anymore. I don't know, I guess I'm sort of torn. I could delete mine, but I'd want to fire it back up again to see what I'm missing out on with my family lol0
-
Deleted it over two months ago... glad I did!0

I've deactivated a number of times, and I would love to just walk away from it. But I have a lot of friends from university and my oldest daughter no longer lives with me, so I like being able to see what they are up to. One of these days I will walk away from it for good though.0
