I have a couple.
1.) Are you still on a diet?

No. I am not. I wasn't before either. I just actually started getting off my *kitten*!

2.) Well you're young. Its much easier for you.

Actually I am not "that" young. That may give me a slightly larger edge than you, but you are only 5-10 years older than me. And thanks for acknowledging that all of the *kitten* busting I've done for the past 7 months has been easy! ;)

What are yours?

I hate eating in front of my grandmother because she always gives me a look and says "You're going to eat that."

haha oh yeah. I forgot I have another one.

"what did you eat last night"
"Oh a friend and I went out for pizza and beer"
"You can't eat that. I thought you were trying to lose weight"
  • 1. Wow, you've lost a lot! What are you doing? Diet pills?

    2. I hope you aren't going to lose anymore...your face is looking gaunt.
  • I always get "What's taking you so long?" from people who are overweight themselves. At least I'm trying!

    (and I think I'm losing at a decent rate...I started at about 192 in August '11. I'm 159.6 now)

Great job on your weightloss so far! I can not wait until I get as far as you :) My least favorite thing that someone said to me was..."So are you going to start eating right and exercising?" OMG I have been for 2 months now!!

    When is you baby due?

Ummm my "baby" is 26 years old! Thanks for asking makes me feel great! NOT!

Oh, and "How MUCH have you lost?" I told her 20, (it's really 30) and she said "Oh WOW that's a ton!!" I am within 15 of my goal already hit the top of the "healthy weight" goal. I can't help it she is a rail and only eats dry Cheerios for lunch with an occassional light yogurt. I eat REAL food.

"you could stand to gain a few lbs" absolutely kills me. dammit, i worked hard to get to this weight, not a few lbs more than this!

    and

"you're too skinny" pisses me off. no, i'm fit. i'm stronger than you (probably) and i'll kick your butt.

    and

"are you starving yourself" umm, check out my heaping lunch plate and bags of snacks, and you tell me if i'm starving myself. i just shocked my metabolism into gear and you're jealous!

    1. The worst thing that my friends said about my weight loss was NOTHING at all. :-( 9 kg (20lbs) down & nothing.

    2. I have also heard the: "It's sooo much harder when you're older" (and they're only 10 or so years older).

    3. Someone said to me too "You're doing well considering you're not working hard" ---- now this one I do not understand! I have been working crazy hard & I have no idea where they got this idea from? Eating under 1200 cals each day + 5 or 6 days per week of exercise for approx 45 - 90 mins.
  • My mom says I will be a chunky monkey if I keep eating the way I am. When I saw my ex from high school he grabbed my stomache and said "wow what happened to you?"
  • I ate a piece of chocolate and somebody said "it'll go straight to your thighs"

the worst thing that's been said to me was actually meant as a joke (I think) but I did not find it funny--one of my coworkers made a joke about me being anorexic. Definitely NOT anorexic-I know she was just jokingly pointing out that she thought I had lost all the weight I needed to, but I did not find it funny.

I lost most of my weight before my wedding (not b/c of the wedding just happened to correlate)

My aunt says: "wow, Em you look great! Look at you"
    Me: Thanks
My step-mom: "yeah it's easy to lose weight before the wedding, you'll put it all back on in the first year"

Thanks for the vote of confidence! (BTW it's been 8 months and I've maintained)

About a year ago: "Lol you're fat."
    "You need to lose weight."

Now: "You're so skinny! Go eat a cheeseburger"
"You're the skinniest person I've ever seen!"
    "You look anorexic."
"How much do you weigh? Like, 60 pounds?"

    :explode:

You don't need to lose any more weight, your thin enough/too thin now. I am barely in the healthy range for my height and I want to lose 10-15 more lbs but sooooo many people think its just vanity lbs now.

I'd look her up and down and say "no offense but you sound like the lease likely have any friends among us!"

The other day I got. "Wow you lost a ton of weight! What did you lose, like 60 pounds??" And a friend once guessed 40. (Without me asking her to guess, of course). It was more like 20-25, but....um....thanks??

I agree - Nothing! Almost 3 months in, down 30-35 pounds... it's noticeable, people. Say something. :\

I love when people ask how I did it, and I answer "Counting calories and exercising" and their face falls. It's funny that once you start exercising daily and getting off your butt, it's not really THAT difficult to do. You just need the motivation to get the ball rolling!
  • One day you hear....
You lost so much weight you look great
    The next day you hear
If you lose anymore weight you're gonna look sick
    Or
How much weight are you trying to lose?
How skinny do you want to be it's not healthy.

"You should look into getting that gastro surgery."

It's gastric and I did, decided against it but thank you for your concern. The irony is that the person recommended this while we were at an all you can eat Chinese restaurant that they recommended we go to.

I don't think people started saying anything until I got to about 30-35 pounds and I had to buy new clothes. Once I started wearing new clothes people started noticing. I guess I was hiding my smaller self under the baggy clothes! :)
