Count every single calorie and don't cheat yourself!

A lot easier said than done. Do you continue doing this once you reach your goal weight? How does it work for you? Most people that work very long hours will find this almost impossible to do.

Personally, I've found it's fairly easy to log calories on MFP. The database of foods is amazing, so it makes it much easier to track nearly any food.**edited by MFP moderator**.
  • If you want a cookie, have a cokie. If you deprive yourself, then you will eat 1 DOZEN cooies!!!

Patience! You didn't gain it overnight you aren't going to lose it that way

Count your calories. You'd be amazed in what you are actually eating.
  • Wear sunscreen!

Seriously though, if you fall off the wagon with your diet...do.not.quit! Get back up, dust yourself off and reach for some broccoli.
  • Measure everything.
  • True weight loss takes time, so don't be in a hurry!!

Slow and steady wins the race- don't expect to lose more than 0.5 - 2lb a week especially if you have less than 20lb to lose.

    Maintenance is the key.
  • The only person you will ever cheat by masking what you're *actually* eating / burning is YOU.

    Be honest, and realistic....

It's all about what you do or don't put in your mouth and any additional daily movement.

Log everything you eat, no matter how crappy your choices are. Accountability is the key to making better ones.

Don't be afraid to have a cheeseburger if you want one, and enjoy it. This will help prevent binging. I have at least 1 meal like that per week and sometimes more, but I keep within my calorie goal and its been working well =)
