Purple, don't despair. I am sure you have an idea already how much you burn doing CX and a run. My HRM sometimes acts up like that. Just make sure you tighten it. As you get leaner you have to adjust it so when you start sweating it does not move as much. That has worked for me. So you are saying you are doing the push circuit twice or doing 2 sessions of the same workout every time you workout this week? I am going out of town the first wk in Aug and I am just going to finish up when I come back. My husband and I are going to South Padre Island while our son is away at summer camp. I am planning on doing some walking/running on the beach and some push ups/squats/lunges/planks in the hotel room or even on the beach. At least that is on my head.  I just hope I do it.
nursegirl, glad you can join us!!!! You will love it!!! :drinker: :drinker:
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
I was saying that I do it twice in a row. So I do the whole thing until the cool down stretch and then rewind back to the first exercise and do it all again. The challenge is trying to lift the same weights the second round because I am so tired. Today I did Push 1 and on the second round I have to lower on the second bicep one (where you lift out to the sides) but everything else I did the same!0 -
I did push 1 and a sorta of ran yesterday. My push workout was great yesterday and I was feeling real good and started running on the treamill. I got a little confident and went running out in my neighborhood. Before I go on let me tell you when I was younger about 10 years ago I would run about 8 miles three times a week, never a fast runner. But it was something I really enjoyed and my mind would just wonder, very relaxing for me so I'm trying to build myself up to that. The only problem is when I run now I actually have to run to the ladies room (sorry TMI), but this is what keeps me from running out in the streets. I went for a run yesterday but just about 3/4 of mile out I had to stop and walk back home. :ohwell: I guess I'll just stick to the treadmill next time I run.
Alf - It will take me two weeks to do the last week of the push phase, because I will be able to do the first part of the workout, go on vacation and when I come back I'll do the 2nd part of the week. I dont know if this is the best way to do it. I'm afraid if I take those two weeks off, it will be really hard to do the last week, with such a long break, what do you think.
Duffyzmom - Glad to see that your back, I hope you had a great time.
Nursegirl - I can only go up to 25#, because my arms are usually spent by the time I do a leg exercise. I know my legs could handle more weight but my arms cant. I plan to buy a weight vest for the next round, that way I can really push myself. If you haven't lift weights before the 10# sounds great, but you'll see that you will get stronger and will want to move up. But dont worry about that start off with what you have and see how that goes.
It sounds like every one is doing great with their workouts, lets:ohwell: keep this up. :flowerforyou:0 -
Wow!! I just did Turbo Kick at my local gym and came home and did Burn 1. When I first pushed play I thought, wow this is too easy. About 10 min. into the video I was shaking like crazy. What a good work out. I'm sooooo excited.0
-
Nursegirl, I thought the same thing when I first started doing ChaLean. I thought I had wasted my money but fortunately I was wrong. It has been a really good program for me. And that was just burn 1, wait until you do the other ones.
I use dumbells anywhere from 8lbs to 25 lbs. I could go heavier for my leg exercises but I am still waiting to see if the select techs lower in price so I can get them. I refuse to buy another set of dumbells. :grumble:  Sears has them on sale for $400 before taxes, still too much. Anyone knows if bowflex has a new deal or discount coupon? I can't wait to get them!! I really need those 2.5lb increments.
Purple, that sounds like a good plan. I see, you started your last week already, then you vacation from 17-22 and then when you return you finish up, correct? Sounds good, I wouldnt want to not weight train for 2 wks either. Hope to see you soon!!
Duffy, I think you are talking about the plie squat with the oblique crunch right? I use my 20 or 25lb dumbells and it hurts my elbows if I place them on my shoulders. So I leave my arms down and place the dumbells on my thighs when I plie squat and then on the sides for the oblique crunches. For the other exercise I just leave them down and do the best I can. Modify it the best you can to get the same results.

Sounds good - I will mess with the weight placement - I just didn't remember her discussing alternative in the instruction video which I found odd. Just found out from hubby that his adjustable weights can do 2.5 increments. They are much bulkier than selecttechs but free! ALF: have you checked craigslist or ebay - workout equipment usually shows up on auction sites for good deals.
Today is Burn Circuit 2: It should really kill me because I was struggling down the stairs this morning due to a hard run yesterday. Just what I need to get my butt in gear.0 -
Great morning everyone. I took my rest day yesterday, it was 105 here where I live and I was glad i didn't have to workout in my garage. Today is Push 2 along with a run. It's supposed to get to 106 today, so I'll be moving all my stuff to the living room to do the workout, and then go to the gym to run.
I hope everyone has a great workout. :flowerforyou:0 -
Ouch!! I did intervals today after coming back from the gym(hip hop hustle). I think I pulled a tendon in my left shoulder. It doesn't feel to terrible but has been sore for the past week. I can feel it a little more now. Maybe I need a hot bath.
Anyways...I'm still lovin it. I don't know if maybe I should slow down. I have been working out 7 days a week for the past 5 weeks. What do you all think?? I guess I'm a little obsessed and am afraid if I stop I will gain weight back. Especially with hypothyroid. I haven't felt this good since I was in the Army!!

Nursegirl, I know it is easier said than done but you should take a day off. I have been guilty of that, working out 7 days a week, but our bodies really need to rest. You will not gain weight if you rest one or two days a week. You also want to vary your workouts so you prevent injuries. Exercising helps us lose weight and feel incredible but what matters the most for weight loss is what you put in your body. Focus on your nutrition more than anything else and work out about 5, maybe 6 days a week, depending on the intensity and exercise. And thank you for your service!! :drinker: We are an ARMY family. My husband is retired ARMY, I am an ARMY veteran and my daughter and son in law are currently serving. He just returned from Iraq.
Have a great evening! :flowerforyou:0 -
Did Burn Internals and then headed out for a 4K run. Right now I'm not scheduling a rest day - mostly because I need to run 4 days a week and I don't like to do the burn circuits on a run day. It may get to a point that I have to reconsider that schedule and if I do I'll focus on a run followed by circuit.0
-
Hi all. I just did burn 2. I don't think my weight is heavy enough. I'm able to do all the reps. The heaviest I have is 10 lbs but after my workout I'm shaky all over. Do you think that means I worked out hard enough?0
-
Nursegirl, I am no expert, but I think "shaky all over" means you had a pretty good workout. It does not necessarily mean that particular weight was heavy enough for you though. You might need to get a pair of 12 lbs and even 15lbs dumbells soon. In the meantime you could slow down even more and make those 10lbs feel that they are 50lbs.
Duffy, what running program are you using? Anything in particular? I should be running more but I just got new shoes and I need to break them in. I overdid it on Sunday and ended up with a blister. And who knows, maybe the little pain I have on the side of my thigh could be attributed to the new shoes as well...it is so hard to tell what caused it since I do so much. :noway:
Someone please do me a favor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I left my guidebook at work because I was sharing it with a coworker and I dont remember what lean circuit I need to do the first week of lean for life. I did burn 1 on Mon, push 2 yesterday and I am supposed to do a lean circuit tomorrow but cant remember which one. I need to workout before I go to work. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
alf1163,
The 1st week is:
Burn 1
rest
Push 2
Burn intervals * extreme abs
Lean 1
Burn it off & Recharge
Rest
Hope you get this on time!!:happy:0 -
Burn Circuit 3 for me today - Boy after a week of the Burn plus half marathon training I may need to find myself a good sports massage therapist. My legs are tight - Hopefully some good yoga, some serious stretching and a soak in epsom will take care of it.
ALF: Right now I'm using my old Running Room training program - I actually did my first and second half marathons with a clinic in one of their stores in Canada. Running Room schedules 5 runs a week but my old body just can't do that so I focus on 4 good runs a week. 1 tempo - 1 hills -1 steady and 1 long distance. After training for a full last summer this half training is so much nicer, I honestly don't think I could do CX and train for a full.
Have a great weekend.0 -
Yes!! Thank you, I got it on time. I did lean 1 this morning. I did not burn that many calories this time. It is so hard for me to balance when I am doing calf raises. I get so frustrated. :grumble: But good workout overall. I also added ab burner. No time for something else. Leaving for work. Have a great one!!!! :flowerforyou:0

Hi everyone!
I just got my ChaLEAN in the mail yesterday. I got it on ebay since I wasn't sure I was going to like it - of course they included the 'guides' but they are a little suspect Thanks to whoever posted a link for the calendar since that was missing...
I'm excited to start! I was doing all the Jillian Michaels workouts but I got kind of bored after 6 months of that. Still great workouts but I needed to shake it up.
NIce to 'meet' everyone!0 -
Hi everyone, I'm new to MFP.
My name is Jenn, and I'm on week 2 of ChaLean Extreme, getting ready for Burn Circuit 3 after work tonight.
I've been using between 3 lb and 15 lb weights (don't have 12's) and I'm loving the program so far0 -
Elwolfy and Cynder, welcome to our little group!!! :drinker: :drinker: You will love this program. Just ask any questions you may have.
Have a great weekend! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
Finished week 2 of the Lean month. I have really focused on form this month and have had some slight soreness. Personally, I LOVE that feeling! Sounds like everyone is doing well :flowerforyou:0
-
After my long run yesterday - I've reevaluated my training program. I think I'm going to really need my Mondays off to recuperate so today I'm just doing Recharge and I'll be fitting my Burn Circuits in after my runs on 3 of my run days. I'll let you know how it goes. After a month of problems with the beach body website I'm finally back on so I'll check with some runners there as well.0
-
Another week down. Burn it off today. I am beginning to dread that workout because a lot of it is repeats of Burn Intervals. I am trying to follow the program exactly as it is written but was thinking of maybe doing something different on cardio days during my lean phase which starts next week. I do treadmill/running after my weight lifting workouts already.
I was thinking of doing the turbo jam cardio workouts or something.
What do you all do?0 -
Thank you for the welcome
Eni29- I LOATH Burn it Off and have been thinking about switching it out with Turbo Jam as well. I missed that workout last night (daughter didn't want to go to bed until 11 PM  so I'm going to do it tomorrow instead of my rest day.
I caught myself doing push ups for the fun of it last night in the hallway just to see how many I could do when my arms weren't "dead" from the weights (6 on my knee, better than I used to do)
Tonight is BC1, and I'll fit in the Recharge I missed last night.0 -
Hello, I just joined this site and have just ordered the Chalean program. I have been doing Zumba (hi impact Latin Dance type aerobics) for the past 5 weeks. It is pretty cardio intense. My question is do you think it will be possible to do the 2 programs together? I love Zumba and don't want to give it up.0
-
Yeah...you could do it together. I do CX and Turbo kick 3 times a week. If you read Chelene Johnsons blog she will tell you to do the cardio that you like along with the CX.0
-

Where is her blog?0 -
Thanks for the welcome
I'm not going to be able to follow the schedule consistently because of vacations coming up the next couple weeks. So I guess all I'm going to do so far is the fit test and watch that introductory dvd... I'm anxious to get started though!
angelae-I think its totally possible to keep up with Zumba do CX. I'd just be sure to keep rest days in your schedule. I hear zumba is awesome - my gym at work is going to bring it in and I'm so psyched. I've had the same workout routines since about January and I really need to do some new stuff...0 -
Thanks for the info! I am glad that I will be able to do both
Elwolfy-If you can take a zumba class you should. It is the first thing that I have ever been motivated to keep doing. It is fun and a great workout.0 -
Week 2 of the Burn - Did my tempo run and then did Burn Circuit 1 - I was actually shocked by the increase in weights I was able to use today - I'm thinking it is from being in the runner's high while working out -0

nursegirl - thanks for the info
Today I did Burn Intervals and Abs Nothing like Interval training to really get you nice and sweaty and I was in my nice cool basement.0 -
Last night was Burn Circuit 2 Week 3, and I'm still feeling the burn this morning
I did cheat and do the tipple threat push ups as regular push ups (knee), but I did get through the whole set.
Co-workers have already said that my arms are getting toned and thinner.0
