I find it really sad when women want to get breast implants and other cosmetic surgery. *sigh* You are buying into society's expectations that women need to forever be young, and they need to have big tits (which is hilarious considering breast feeding is nearly taboo in our culture, so they are really supposed to be big fat bags that are just for looks). It's silly, I think we should all focus on being healthy, and letting our body look however it is and be proud of it. I look up to women who rock what they have instead of rush to the knife to be how they think they are "supposed to look." You had babies, you were a mommy. In my opinion, you shouldn't want to look like you did in highschool, you should want to rock yourself because that is your badge of honor, your battle scars. :)

I mean good for you if you want to do something that rewards yourself for accomplishing your (amazing!!) goal, but I have a hard time thinking that undergoing expensive SURGERY to look how society (I know, I know, you tell yourself it is "for you") wants you to look.

    Sorry to be harsh.

You can find it sad, but for me this will be redemption on all the harm I did to my body. It's uncomfortable in hot weather to have sweaty, smelly skin folds on my lower abdomen, along with having to special order bras, and the discomfort that comes along with heavy exercise and large, sagging breasts. I have an F cup, and am 5' tall. I want to have a proportionate body that cooperates with movement and exercise. Golfing with large breasts is a PITA--they literally get in the way.

I could give a rip how other people view me--I know, I know, I'm *JUST* telling myself that--I spent most of my last vacation on a nude beach, at well over 200 pounds.

Also, my body never cooperated with the baby making, so my 'scars' are a result of depression.

I'm the opposite I would love a breast reduction. My knockers are gigantic. I had a DD cup all through high school and after I got pregnant they went up to DDD. Ugh. I hated them when they were DD. Everytime I mention wishing I could have a redution to my hubby he looks at me in horror. He says I can't take away his pillows. lol. But once I get to my goal weight we'll see how everything looks. But I'm telling ya my back hurts like a mofo, and shopping for bras sucks.

I have wanted to have it done for years. Now that I am getting my weight back down to where I want it again and getting married in June -- I am scheduled to have implants on March 30th. Can't wait. Not going huge, just want to be proportionate with my hips and shoulders. Can't wait to look great in my strapless wedding gown and bikini on the honeymoon! :)

To the OP- I say go for it! But as others have said, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!

My natural breast were quite large for my frame and after I had my first child their were huge (44DD- I was only 5'2", 105). Years later I decided I wanted a lift. I thought I did enough research but somehow let the surgeon talk me into not just a lift but implants as well. Big mistake.....

After my second and last child, I decided to have them removed & of course, required a lift at the same time. BEST decision ever! (FOR ME!)

My suggestion is to determine what size you want to be. If it is larger than what you are now, wear that bra (stuffed?) for a while to make sure you are comfortable. And remember, there will be weight associated with implants (not much, but some). Also keep in mind SOME women who go disproportionately larger than their natural size OR body frame --- gain weight. I'm sure there is no scientific evidence but.... I know quite a few women who went with really large implants and within a few yrs their backside caught right up with them. LOL

(On a side note- as far as doing this for society or you, what's the difference?? We make decisions every single day based on what is currently acceptable in society. And I say thank God! otherwise we would still be taking baths weekly, never shaving our arm pits/legs, and riding a horse to work, etc.)

    Good luck to you!

I had a breast lift and I love it even tho the doctor did not get them even. Just do the homework and get a good boob doctor. The same doctor did my tummy tuck, thigh lift and arm lift and he did a great job. The tummy tuck is a butt kicker and it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to be able to get back to work but I love my flat stomach so much that I would do it every year if I had to. I love my surgeries and there is nothing wrong with making yourself feel good. I hated my hanging stomach so much !!!!! So, go for it.

When I loose all my weight I will have the "mommy lift", I love that saying. I will start with the stomach, I have had c-sections with scars accross and up and down. My goal is to get rid of as much extra skin as I can afford. Good luck on your journey.

Yes, yes, YES!! Do it! I used to work for a plastic surgeon and one of the "perks" (no pun intended) was free surgery. I opted for breast aug and absolutely LOVE IT! I even got pregnant & breast fed twice afterwards and they *still* look amazing! I haven't worked for him since 2008, but I'm *definitely* going to go back to him for a mini tummy tuck/lipo & something for the ever-increasing wrinkles on my face (in case you haven't noticed, I will *not* grow old gracefully!) This is a personal decision, so ultimately it's up to you, but I'm a huge proponent of doing whatever it takes to make YOU happy. Good luck:)

Ps. If you have any personal questions regarding the procedure, please feel free to private message me.

Pps. I don't know where you live, but I know he used to give discounts to patients who came in from out of town (to offset the cost of airfare/gas/hotel). I'd really look into him. He's an amazing surgeon & just as nice a person. Here's his website if you're interested: www.drgoldman.com

I am getting an augmentation done in the next couple years. I have had my consultation done and doctor picked out for about 4 years. One of my friends went to him and he did an amazing job. She was back to work in days (like 4) and was very happy with his work. I have to fly into see him as he is in Utah but I think it is worth every penny. My goal is to loose my last 25 lbs, finish getting out of debt and then head over to get it done. My husband is very supportive too!

I had a bilateral breast reduction in September. I went from an L cup to a C cup. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself. It took 6.5 pounds of pressure off my back and they are so perky now. My husband loves them. :-) I have very little back pain now and before it was almost every day. The best part. I don't need to wear a bra to keep them in place anymore. I did get an infection shortly after my surgery that took an extra 4 months to heal and I had pretty bad scars from it. My doctor went in and removed the extra scar tissue and it looks and feels so much better now.

It's the moral (and societal) issues I have when women get big beach ball boobs, even before they have kids (like that idiot famous person who got them and then was upset because she couldn't breast feed afterwards, it's like, Duh! You mess around in there with foreign objects enough and they aren't going to work properly!!) so that they are "attractive." There is nothing wrong with having little pert boobs. And I realize now that is not what you are adressing.

So I take back what I said about conforming to society, it's ok for you to want to go back to where you want to be, as long as you aren't wanting to "fix" yourself into something totally new. It was a bit naive of me to not understand where you are coming from, escpecially since I haven't had kids. And I know you don't need approval from me, I am just apologizing mostly. :)

Moral issues? LOL. Getting aesthetics confused with morals... isn't that difficult to do? Wow.

Yes, I consider changing your body (as in, what God gave you) drastically is a moral issue. Getting a boob job is not necessarily just aesthetics. It is a big, invasive deal, it's not like dyeing your hair. I personally beleive that you should rock and be proud of what you were given, and not try "fix" it unless there is something wrong (ie: getting reduction surgery because your back is being damaged etc). In the original poster's case, like I outlined, she really isn't trying to "fix" HERSELF, she is trying to "fix" CHANGES to her body brought on by challenging events taking a toll. That is why I consider it a more aesthetic issue (more like upkeep) than a moral issue, and why I consider getting beach ball breast implants because you aren't happy with your cute pert ones (as in, CHANGING your body drastically) a moral issue.

WHY OH WHY OH WHY do religious nuts bring a god into everything?

I don't have a god, why is your god telling me and others what to do?

because apparently their god is omniscient and has the authority to dictate how everyone else's life should be?

Because my faith is very much a part of my opinion, and this is a MESSAGE BOARD, which is for opinions. Duh.

I'm pretty sure that God (you know that imaginary friend in the sky) would want us to do things that make us happy. God created us, he also created doctors, he created doctors that are skilled in cosmetic surgery. Ergo, it is NOT immoral to get a boob job. But you just keep telling yourself that, m'kay? And say HI to your imaginary sky fair. Thx.

I had mammoplasty (reduction) it was terribly painful for about 4 weeks. You can barely use your arms....I never realized how many chest muscles you actually use to use your arms......but it was so worth it. I went from a very large size to a reasonable size. I'm only 4'11" and I was mostly breasts. i would never make mine bigger because it was a struggle for me to live with that but if you want to do it, go for it. Just don't make them so big you get back issues. My insurance paid 100% for my reduction because i'd had previous back surgery. if i have the opportunity, I will have my bat wings removed once I'm at goal if they don't go away on their own....so I am very pro-plastic surgery

And for the record, you CAN breastfeed successfully after augmentation. I'm proof of that. So please get your facts straight before you post fallacies.

My hubby will let me get a Mommy Maker over after I finishing losing, but I have to keep it off for two years first. That's my own stupidity though cuz I lost it all once and kept it off for a year before I started to gained it back. =(

I've been going back and forth on this. On one hand, I don't want to have unnecessary surgery. On the other hand, I want my boobs to be fuller. My boobs are like deflated balloons because they went up to 34DD when I was pregnant/breastfeeding from 34B. Now they are a small 34B, not full like it was before. I mean they are ok, but they can look better. And then I think about the recovery, the possibility of complications... it scares me. DH is supportive of whatever I choose to do. I am still going back and forth. Right now, I am more toward to no, because of cost and being a chicken.

    ^That's exactly like me!
I hope to have more kids, so I'll see afterwards, but with only one pregnancy + weight loss, my boobs are gone.
I wouldn't want a huge size, just a B or small C. I've been a 34B all my life, but before my kid, they were perky!!!
I'm also soooo scared by the surgery. My biggest fear is to never wake up after the anesthesia. :(
Another concern is that it's not just a once in a lifetime surgery. You have to get the implants replaced every 10-15 years, so more $$$ and more risks.

The implants they use now especially silicone do not need replacing that often. Lots of women jusft have 15 yearly checkups to be onthe safe side. Also recovery is fairly quick especially if you have them placed over the muscle. usually you can go back to work in 1 - 3 weeks :) anyone wanting te surgery but unsure should check out the sofeminine forums for reassurance x
