Amazing things people say when you're losing weight

LOL @ Yoovie
I think men can't make up their minds what parts they like best. Boobs, butts, legs, etc. Women are just a buffet of goodness I guess.0 -
Such a funny topic. My mom taught us one NEVER comments on a person's appearance, especially weight loss, unless the other party brings it up first.0
-
I don't mind most comments people say that I look good. What bothers me is when people tell me they are proud of me and then turn around and complain when I'm calculating my calories or criticize me for turning down sweets or other unhealthy food. Or when people give crazy nutritional advice. (did you know that eating fruit and veggies are bad for you? Someone really told me!)0

I like it when people make comments when I lose weight. I can't imagine someone that would be annoyed by it... They must be annoyed by a lot of things then.
Bust your booty to lose 100 pounds and then have someone say "Omg you've lost so much weight! I bet youre just HIDEOUS naked now lolol!"
I bet you felt like ripping their throat out with your bare hands!! That is a totally insensitive, utterly stupid , really nasty thing to say to someone who's battled to lose weight. Some people can be so hurtful because they dont THINK before they open their mouths...... :flowerforyou:0 -
I don't know. I read one of those "don't say to moms of twins" lists. It had things like, "Don't say they are a blessing," "Don't tell me how you wished you had twins, " etc. Well, they ARE a blessing and I DO wish I had twins. I prayed for twins so hard with my last pregnancy. I knew I couldn't have any more, and would have loved twins. So I'm not lying. And I'm usually holding open a door for the mom or helping her in some way, while complimenting her on her lovely babies.
People are way too sensitive.
I was pregnant with twins last year. It was pretty freakin' awful x 1,00,000 lol. It WAS a miracle and I did think it was amazing but it's just one of those things that you pretty much **** 5 bricks when the OBGYN asks if you know how to count and then turns the monitor towards you and it's like...of course I know how to count? Wait... one.... tw - - -....wtf!
It was pretty funny to see the look on peoples faces when they asked when I was due and I said, "May." and it was, like, October. I looked probably 7 months along at 2 and I really wasn't all about the bed rest. I think the only time I ever got sensitive about it was when people would obviously sarcastically say, "Good luck with that." or would try to feel my tummy after I lost them because they 'forgot'. I was always like wtf are you doing?0 -
I feel awkard when people compliment me about it...
at the same time, I'm kinda like HEY LOOK, I LOST X LBS!!
but then when I get a compliment I'm like waiiit... you thought I was fat before?
someone said "you DO look better" the other night & I got a little pouty. lol0 -

AND AGE!!! My mom too! She told me if you ever notice someone trying hard to lose weight- offer them a compliment on their overall existence!
She always said the same thing to her friends that were losing weight- she would give them a little hug, kiss their cheek and say You look so lovely.
Not 'today', not 'now' not 'your weight loss' not 'your outfit'
Just YOU. You look lovely.0 -
I have a very loving and supportive friend who keeps calling me "Skinny lady!" and responding to my NSVs with "That's cause you're all skinny now." She's definitely saying it to be sweet but it just annoys me because I am very, very far from skinny.0

LOL I think people are clueless.
My biggest pet peeve is when they ask...
How do you feel?? DO you feel great?....Uhh, i am the same person I was before. Sure, I feel fine, but nothing much has really changed.
That one just annoyed me no end. Like they think I have somehow changed my whole personality while losing weight. I am still me!!!
I haven't lost a lot of weight but enough that I do feel different - stronger, more energetic. Sure, I am still me, but I DO feel great.0 -
Right now, I'd be thrilled if ANYONE said something as simple as "something is different about you". But so far no one has said one word. That's kind of depressing to me. But then I try to remind myself that I'm doing this for me, my children and my husband, so that I can be healthy and feel strong enough to function every day. Oh well...
Amen to that sister!! I would be so happy to hear ANYTHING, I don't know what I would do. I thought the first person that said something I would give a big hug. No hugs yet!!0 -
What bothers me the most is when people say things like, why are you losing weight? you look fine, you don't need to diet... Or they try to be the devil on my shoulder and push "bad" foods... A little bit won't hurt...
The absolute biggest pet peeve, is when people find out that i'm dieting and they feel the need to warn me about every dieting trap out there... Seriously... I know you mean well, but i've been around the block a FEW times now and know what works best FOR ME. Thank you come again! haha0 -
You look so good....NOW! (Geee, thanks!)
Are you losing weight because of Jennifer Hudson? (Ranted about this yesterday, she is not the Black woman weight loss goddess)
You had surgery right? (Contrary to popular belief, people can lose large amounts of weight sans bariatric surgery!)
THIS! I hate the "oh you're trying to get all JHud on us." Um no ma'am! I've lost 50lbs before JHud. This is not about her, or YOU for that matter.
I agree! I'm not losing weight because she did... lol!! Right and the "you look good NOW" I HATE that!! Like I was such a monster before?! lol0 -
I am new to this, but I was under the assumption this was suppose to be supportive....0
-
I have heard "wow did you have that baby!?" after loosing the 1st 20 and then "Don't get too thin, you'll loose your curves" after dropping the 1st 60 lbs. People only care about how they veiw you and it can hurt but in all reality it is a fact at least they are validating that your body is changing and that you are loosing! I have more to go so let the weird comments commence!0
-
When I would go to Weight Watchers meetings I would be told by other members "wow why are you here"? I had 40lbs to lose and because i'm short and carry my weight differently no one suspected i was 40lbs overweight. I also had a lot less to lose than most in those meetings so i guess it aggravated them to see me there? It was annoying and frustrating.0

Two nights ago my boyfriend's friend pointed out my tricep muscle and said way to go girl! and gave me a high five. HOLLA0
-
The worst was when I was at my goal weight and my step-dad said (as I was walking on the treadmill) something along the lines of, "You're making great progress. Keep going and you'll get there!" Well, I thought I already *was* there.
Then again, he said something similar about the men I was dating before I got married... "That one's a whole lot better than the last one, and if you keep it up you'll find a good one." (I married the man that was a "whole lot better", LOL!)
But I am pretty sure I have said to people, "You've lost a TON of weight! You look terrific!" I try not to do that any more.
Older, wiser?0 -

That's the stuff dreams are made of right there. I invite people to the gun show regularly now rofl0 -
people are so silly sometimes. i've heard girl what you doing. you trying to dry up. do you eat. you not on that pipe are you. you looked fine before. I'm just like really. Haters are my motivation to keep going .0
-
"You must have SO MUCH energy now!"
I don't have the heart to tell them, "Nope, I'm just as lazy as ever."0 -

It seems misery loves company and when people see you trying to lose weight if they havent been successful in their own weight loss they will try to push those bad foods in your direction. A huge annoyance, i agree.0 -
I have lost over 100 lbs and have more to go but the comments people made, even if they were trying to be nice I found insulting. They were all say OMG you look GREAT! By them saying this made me feel like I looked hideous before. Honestly a woman can be beautiful no matter what her weight is. I am loosing weight because it is what is best for me and my body I want to be healthy.
I am not hideious or ugly at any weight.0 -

i agree... when people notice its my motivation to keep going..... since i look at myself in the mirror on a daily basis i don't always notice it, but when a coworker or a friend says it, i know that what i'm doing is working and that i should keep at it because if they notice than it works and that makes me happy0 -
My Dad (I am 25!): How much have you lost?
Me: 6 pounds (this was a few weeks ago)
Dad: Looks like you lost a pound from your chin!
Me: *facepalm*0 -
nobody's said anything yet but i'm sure i'll be happy when they start.0

i used to get frustrated by the girls that i thought were skinny and trying to lose weight, but i honestly think it was just because i was unhappy with myself and jealous that they have either lost more weight than me or were on the road to it0 -
I love the quote on your ticker; so true! :happy:0

I am a very solid person and tend to carry my weight extremely well (all but my stomach...lol). I tell people that I have lost over 20 lbs and still have more to go........they look at me like I have 3 eyes................."No.........you look good at this weight.............I just want to pull out the spare tire and shake it at them..............oh yeah..........what about this! People should just follow that simple rule..........keep your mouth shut until your mouth catches up with your brain........lol!:explode:0
-
Today I was told.....Baby got back! by a lady who hasn't seen me in about 3 months
I was told it was a good thing...................:laugh:0 -
Sometimes I think people don't know what to say, like when I had my twins, the first question out of peoples mouths was are they twins? Ummmmm they are dressed exactly alike, same car seat same blankets heck even the same size lol, I think that people just want to either start a conversation about what your doing or why your doing it and they just say the silliest things.
Great job on your weighloss goals
I have twins too and that's the first question I get asked on a daily basis. The next is are they identical or fraternal. When they were babies (both girls) I would dress them in pink and purple dresses with bows on their heads and people would still ask if they were boys or girls. *sigh*
I agree that people sometimes say things with the best intentions that are taken out of context or just don't come out the right way. Congrats on the weight loss.0
