I am such a OCD sort of person and love seeing numbers so much, I am almost tempted to start a topic to give all measurements, out of curiosity, and to see the diversity.
But I shall refrain and hope maybe someone else will do it here one day.0 -
My calves grew up, I call them cows.0

Oh, I can't wait until you do this!!! Then I will post there too! LOL0 -
I too have big calves (and thighs and, well, you get the idea...). They are down to 15.75... I don't think they will get much smaller, as my legs have always been big and muscular. I'd be happy with muscle lines - you can just see it when I stand on my tippy toes now.
Glad to know I'm not the only one!0 -
Just under 13 inches here... and thighs are 18.5 inches... is that bad ?0

I don't understand why some are not able to find boots. My calves are 14.5 and I never had a problem finding tall boots.
I have small ankles, so my calves stick out. But I don't have a problem with them. I know once I lose the rest of my weight, I will probably only get down to 13.5. I am 5'8 by the way.
There is a 7" height difference between the two of us. I think the problem is that the widest part of your calves and mine do not hit at the same place in the boots. The thickest part of my calves hit lower in the boot (closer to the ankle) where boots tend to be narrower. That's my guess anyway.
It also depends on where your muscle starts. For me, I can't zip past around 3/4 of the way up. Usually 1-2 inches before the rubber starts. And most boots are actually lose in the ankles for me as well.0 -

I'm 5'8", wear a size 6, and have 15" calves. I also have a tough time finding boots!0

<---- enormous calves...16"
I thought your legs were beautiful! I was defending them! :happy:0 -
15' and itty bitty ankles, lol. Boots are not something I get along well with! They are solid though, and oddly enough I get comment on them quite often. (nice ones, it just seems like a random thing for someone to mention, lol)0

Well I've been told a time or two that I have big calves, & I guess I do, because I also have 16inchers...
and I'm only 5'2. Currently I wear a size 12.
I don't have skinny ankles or cankles. My legs are shapely. I like them, and have received compliments.
My grandmother used to say,"Woooweee! Look at the gams on you!"0 -
yes. however they're awkward in the sense that the extended calf boots are too big and normal ones are slightly too small. and skinny jeans look a bit funny on me...0

I also have 15 inch calves. My mom always had big calves and she said she loved wearing bell bottoms in the 70's because of it. I don't have too many problems with pants. Boots can be hard to find, but I hardly wear them anyway. I think my legs look great most of the time. I do have a few skirts that look funny, because they hit too low and make my legs look funny. I am petite, and it can be hard to find the right hemline that is flattering. Short skirts always look long on me. If my knee is showing, my legs look gorgeous. If my knee is covered up but you still see calf, it looks ridiculous.0

That's why I like the 50's pin up girl look. Hits just at or above the knee....anything hitting me at the calf makes my 15''s look like I'm a hobbit. And I'm 5'5''0 -
Anyone want to go into business designing and selling boots for larger-calved women? I see a seriously under-served market here. ; P
LOVE IT!!!! On one condition - we go up to a sze 12...that's my shoe size (I am 5'10") and it is SOOOOOOO hard to find cute shoes AT ALL!!! BOOTS = IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!0 -

May I ask how big they were before the weight loss???0 -
my calves have measured 17 inches since i was a teenager - when i build up they get more ripped and gain an inch or two... guys love my legs and calves - even overweight guys think my quads and calves are sexy... i guess its just genes really0
-
oh and the "muscle lines" lol - i have them when i am just standing flat foot - my dad was a bodybuilder and so was I a long time ago - my calves measure 18.5 inches and have no bodyfat on them whatsoever. I wish i could say the same for the rest of my frame!0

And with smaller ankles!0 -
Still wondering if you measure them standing up, or sitting down, with the muscle slack, lol ?
Dread to think what mine measure with the muscle slack.
Standing up: 16.5
Sitting down with feet flat on floor: 17
Sitting with foot propped up on desk: 17
Upside down with toes pointed at ceiling, singing "Sexy and I know it" and holding a plastic fork between my toes: 16.50 -
i have naturally muscular thick calves that measure 14in around. i always hated them but there's nothing i can do lol.0

I get told by lots of people that I have big muscular calves, they measure 13.25, there not very big, just curious if any other ladies with larger calves get compliments a lot. On another note I find big calves on guys so sexy
It will be my dream to have 13.23 calves...0 -
I'm 5'5" and my calves are 17.5 in. When I was in the 7th grade a boy pointed out my giant calves to the other boys and I didn't wear shorts out of the house again until I was in my 20's. :frown:0
-
Mine are 18 inches. At my smallest they were 17.0 inches. Sadly, they are here to stay since most of them are muscle. Has to be since they carried a lot of weight for a very long time :-)0
-
my calves are huge. The more I run and work out the bigger they get but I only have a 24 inch inseam so there's no where for anything to go but out on my little body (underneath all the fat that is):laugh:0
-
My calves are 15.5., I am only 5'1.. I get the most compliments on my legs and calves. Some weight lifters had mentioned I should be a power lifter. And I know some guys wish they had my calves. As for boots, Only one pair have fit me. I bought a pair of Ugg's 2 years ago. Never wore them, cause they wouldn't go over my calves. One day my sister told me to roll the top down a little. Voila, they fit!! First boot I was ever able to wear. Now some places have wider calf size boots. Yet to find any that fit. Any how, I wouldn't trade my calves for anything in the world. My best asset on my whole body!0
-
mine are 17 inches of pure muscle.
i was working out at the gym once and a personal trainer came over to me when i was done and said"how often do you work on your calves" , i said "never", he said most of his clients are men who would kill to get calves like mine, i told him from the knee up im my mother but from the knees down im my dad.
this was also the first complement i received about them and he said a lot of men find it very sexy for a woman to have big calves.
i never really thought abt it., but who knew?0 -
Mine are 17", and I completely echo the pain in the butt that is boot shopping. I love boots but can't zip them, and stretchy ones won't pull on. I wear mostly ankle boots :brokenheart:0
-
Me, LOL. I wear jeggings and skinny jeans and it's hilarious to pull them down only to have them get stuck mid-calf and hop around trying to peel them off. And also, I second the boots thing0
