Do you log your cheat days?!

I log every day (459 days and counting)... some days I eat the calories that MFP recommends, some days I eat more, some days less. Some days the logging is really accurate, others it's a wild guess or I resort to quick add cals, but I don't stop logging.
Maybe I'm obsessed but it helps to keep me focussed on my goal (which is to work toward good eating and exercise habits that I can keep up for the long term).
(And I don't do "cheat days" - who would I be cheating on, myself?)0 -
I am going to have a cheat day on Monday because it is my birthday. I plan to go to the restaurant and not preplan and analyze the menu. I plan to enjoy my birthday. BUT I will log everything when I get home. I want to see exactly how much difference there will be.
That's not a cheat day, that's life - who are you cheating?
Happy Birthday and enjoy your dinner.0 -
I do. I mean... I totally blew it the other day. But it was very interesting to me because that day would have been any typical day for me before I started watching my calories. It showed me how far I'd come and made me really see where I'd been going wrong.
YES!!! That is exactly me! l log everything. I was like 1100 calories over for the day and before I started, I never would have thought twice about what I ate that day. I don't get mad at myself. I just count it as a lesson learned and use it to make better choices the next time. I love these posts on MFP because it shows me that many others have the same struggles that I do. I'm not alone in my battle!0 -
I do log my 'cheat days', although I don't perceive them that way - I eat sensibly Monday - Friday, and then am relaxed at weekends. I don't have a negative perception of my weekends, and I have no problem with the concept of 'rewarding' myself with food - I'll have a Chinese takeaway and a couple of glasses of wine on a Saturday night, and feel like I've 'earned' it. I know some feel that's an unhealthy attitude, but it's worked for me
And if I get the odd weekday blowout (usually a period pain-fuelled rage around the biscuit tin), I'll log it. Keeps me in line.0 -
I definitely log every calorie to check trends and make sure I'm getting the right numbers... Certain deficits should mean certain loss, so if it's not going the way it should the numbers should be adjusted one way or the other.
I also like to weigh my food, though, so perhaps a bit too meticulous?0 -
I have almost weekly cheat days and I log everything I eat that day, but I don't feel guilty about it.
I do it for a few different reasons. On the one hand, it's to see how much I'm really eating on a day like that. It's interesting to me to see how bad those delicious, crappy foods really are.
Also, the thing that keeps me from feeling too guilty is when I click "complete this entry" and it tells me that even if I like that every single day for 5 weeks, I would only gain 1-2 kilos. Now, I always see a gain on the scale right away after a cheat day, but it's usually temporary because of all the sodium. It's nice to know that just the one day will NOT ruin everything I've worked for. I would have to eat like for WEEKS to have a real gain.
I'm all for cheat days, they keep me sane0 -
yes though i feel like s*** after looking at the count i still do0

I log my cheats ... 1- because i am curious as to how bad it really was and 2- because i don't want to take days like that with a grain of salt and I want to learn from it and stay focused. I find that i can undo everything and a habit in one or two days and so i need to get myself motivated and on track ... but thats just me ...0

Yes, I log everything! You might find that if you do there will be foods that you don't even want to eat on your cheat days -- I see it as educating yourself about how bad some foods are calorie wise as well as how good they can be. For instance, I'd never have considered avocado as something of a treat before I realised how many cals are in it!0

I have stopped logging on on my cheat days, i used to log everything but am now having more and more cheat days. not good at all as my weigh-in today shows. Back to the drawing board and logging every morsel I think0
-
As shameful as a cheat day may seem they should still be logged. I think it's a good thing a cheat day. It's the one day you get to eat what you craving. If you don't satisfy the craving every now and then you sure to go overboard.0

I ate an entire extra pound of food yesterday (a bit of a binge day and I'm not happy to admit that), but I logged it because I would've had NO EARTHLY IDEA that I consumed that much food otherwise. It's important for me to feel like I can have "free" days so that I don't obsess about what I can't have. It's important to me to finally track these "free" days to know exactly what I've done for the long-term picture.0

First of all, I don't believe in cheat days. Those will only set you back. Second, yes, log in everything. Don't try to fool yourself into thinking that you're losing weight. You might not be recording those calories, but your body definitely is.
I totally agree with the above. One day a week is enough to totally sabotage a diet. If you want to eat healthily nd lose weight you will do it 7 days a week. That's what I've found anyway. Even if I was still losing weight, think how much MORE you could lose whtout that bacon and nachos, and ultimately all that junk food is only going to make your body tired. Have clean cheats like lean bacon and have a more interesting salad with some raisins on for a treat!0 -

Now that I am only like 5 lbs over, I have cheat days, And just dont go overboard. Only eat 500 more than normal. It works for me. If I can NEVER have a friggen burger or some chips It wouldnt be worth it.0 -
I log everything, until I get too drunk and lose track...lol
I used to eat bad when I drank now I make sure I dont eat at all while drinking I eat all my meals then After dinner drink (Only on friday)0 -
I log everything...if you bite it write it, snack it track and and nibble it scribble it0
-
I log everything. It may not be ON that exact day, i.e. weekends, but last night I logged everything from Friday to yesterday. Yep, I remember everything I eat and drink. I'm OCD that way.0
-
I was not until recently than I realized if I am truly going to change myself then I need to be honest including the number of calories I take in on any given day!0
-
Yes, I log everything I eat/drink as best I can. I want to know how much over I go so I can make up for it on the other days!0
-
I usually don't because I'd rather not think about it and just let myself not care for a day0
-
I do, and it makes me think twice about my next cheat day. I almost dont even feel the need for a cheat day anymore.0
-
i log everything! tonight i'm going to a restaurant that doesn't post the nutritional information but i'm going to try and guesstimate while logging what i had. it's not going to be perfect but it will give me some idea. and thats the whole point really, to see what you are actually putting in your body. no sense trying to hide it from yourself. the fat rolls will definitely tell the story. better to be informed and try to work out harder than to play ostrich with your head stuck in the sand i feel.0
-
Yes I log all. I like to see what the intake is when its a "cheat day." I think iti is important for two reasons. 1) It reinforces the habit of logging and 2) it provides you with an idea of what happens on those cheat days.0
-
I figure that the only person I'd be cheating is myself if I didn't... sometimes I forget just because I'm running around all over the place on weekends with family and friends, but if I remember, everything is logged. Or I'll keep a running list in my head of how many calories I put down and know that I'll be working even harder the next few days
hope that helped! and have fun tonight... eat some nachos for me for UFC! :drinker:0 -
Yes, I do. Its only fair!0
-
I don't have cheat days, but if you do, definately log them. There's a certain accountability and guilt in logging the bad that helps stay in control.0
-
Yes, always. It keeps you honest and it's educational. Good to see which foods have which calories and other nutrients.0
-
I log daily! Hit 300 days today!!0
-
I log everything on all days that way I know and am accountable for my eating0
-
88 pounds? wow...just wow...no wonder you dont cheat...but that being said, i totally log everything that goes into my mouth! if i eat or drink it, i log it (except water, because thats basically all i drink)...i do NOT ever feel bad after i cheat, but i only cheat one meal every 1-2 weeks...keeps me from going insane0
