    This is very interesting. I am on week 1 of MFP and do you guys think I should start the plan following this approch?? Sounds more feasible:)

    If I knew at the beginning how awesome this way of eating is and how it would be the ONLY thing that let me lose weight and inches, I would have started this right away.
    Go for it!

    Just think: healthy food, lots of it, some room for treats.....SUSTAINABLE FOR LIFE!

    This is amazing info and I hope I am understanding it properly:

    BMR = 1606
    TDEE=2495 - 15% (374) = 2120

    Is 374 the average amount of calories that I burn per day?

    This means I should eat a min of 1606 and a max of 2120? I'm new to this as well

    Love this thread. I too joined this bandwagon last week. MFP had me at 1420 cal and I was hungry. After calculating my numbers, turns out that is really my BMR! My TDEE is right at 2000 and I took a 20% cut so now I'm doing 1600 and I feel a lot better! Feel like I can think again. I also joined the group Eat-more-to-weigh-less. I am in the healthcare field and I have had several conversations with my dietician friends and they never recommend eating below your BMR.

    Check out the Group " Eat More to Lose Weight" for lots of info but the idea is to eat -15% of TDEE and only eat back exercise calories if you fall below your BMR. IF you fall below BMR, just eat back till you NET BMR.

    Personally, as one who only has a few pounds to lose, I had the most success when I at very close to my TDEE ( My TDEE is 2096 and I eat 2000 every day, no eating back exercise calories.)

    just FYI for those who may only have a few pounds to lose. Hope that helps!

    Nope! It means you eat 2120 EVERY SINGLE DAY. Your body needs to trust you're going to feed it...then down the line maybe tailor the cals per activity. Go grab a snack! :-)

    Hahaha! I know. I just show up to every thread and say EEEEAAATTT!

    I'm stuck for today though. I've burned 3200 already today teaching THREE classes, walking the dog, and cleaning all day. Holy cow!

    I'm in "the eat more to weigh less!"

    I upped mine put on 2.75 pounds but have rounded the corner and lost .75 today YAYYYYYY

    I now eat around 2000 cals a day, and about 200 cals over my BMR.

    I have also bought a bodymedia fit and was amazed to see that I can burn 2072 sat on my bum all day to 2872 when I work out, netting 1200 cals was not the way to go... my body was starving...

    I also used this site to check my bmr/tdee
    http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

    It reads nearly the same as my bodymedia does. 15% cut in step 6.

    Good luck everyone
