I don't walk around or anything, but the work bra needs to go off and the sports bra needs to go on. Naked is gonna happen. I also will lift my shirt in front of the sink to put my chest strap of my HRM on after I wet it.

I'm new to this whole gym thing, but anyway, when I was given a tour there was a nekkid woman in there. Nekkid. I don't give an eff.

:noway: ok so i am new to this gym and i went to the restroom/ locker i was washing my face and when i look up all i saw was this women take all of her clothes of right in front of me and i honestly didn't know how to react, i guess i just couldn't believe that just happened.

I completely agree. Okay, I kinda get stripping down to change if that is your thing (I just turn away from the crowd and wrap a towel around before I get naked), but my pet peeve is when people do their hair naked, or makeup, or just loiter around naked. But at least a bra and undies on.

please explain how this is an issue? a few pieces of nylon fabric aren't going to change anything that comes off their body. and when they're in the water you don't see anything, and I doubt you'd be touching them either way.

If I saw someone using the hot tub naked I would be soooooooo grossed out.

Besides, my gym has a rule that you must have a suit on - thank God!

My other half and I have had this discussion a few times. I have never played sports. I don't ever recall showering after gym class in school. He, on the other hand, has always been involved in sports. I keep telling him I don't understand how the guys all shower together naked,. I am not bothered by others, but I am the hide in the stall and change type myself (but getting better). Its just something I have never done. I envy those who are comfortable enough to do it.

I'm the same way. I never played a sport and we only showered after swimming in gym, which happened one week every year for four years - and we would just shower in our suits and change in private stalls. I don't get how people can just be naked at the gym and be fine with it. Honestly, I'm a bit prude when it comes to stuff like that. I don't know if it's because I never had that experience or what. Personally, I change under a towel, and if it's really busy I'll use the changing stalls. I dislike all the naked people in the locker room! I want to say "at least wear a towel." But I know I'm in the minority so I just bite my tongue and text my sister "you'll never guess what i saw in the locker room at the gym today!"

I didn't read all the responses. But isn't that what the locker room is for? Changing? I'm so confused!

American here. I've never seen anyone shower in clothing in the gym showers. Most of us do not freak out about naked people in the locker rooms either.

There have been quite a few threads on this subject, and it is far from uncommon for women to say that they always shower with their swimsuits on. These women tend to be from America rather than from Europe, obviously there must also be a majority who don't do daft things like that in the fear of being "seen" but I definitely get the impression that nakedness is far more of an issue in North America.

I don't ever recall showering after gym class in school.

Wow, how horrid for you to have to walk round all day feeling sweaty, I hope they made your gym class the last of the day. :frown:

We had to shower after every session, in communal showers, they used to be standard in British schools and probably still are. I used to hate it, simply because they were always freezing cold!

Perhaps that's why Brits tend not to see nakedness per se as necessarily being evil.

Many gyms have a privacy area for people who are not comfortable undressing in front of others or for those who don't want to see everyone else undressing. You may want to check for this space at your own gym. Good luck!

This. Seriously you need to get a grip. It's a public gym, a public LOCKER room and people are THERE to get undressed and to shower after their workout. No one is there to look at your body so avert your eyes if it bothers you that much. If you are offended, why? she was doing what she was supposed to do in that space. I for one do NOT take all my clothes into the shower and then disrobe, sorry sister. My thoughts? You don't like what you see, don't look. We're all there to make our bodies better, not be judged or made to feel badly.

Find a private area if you are that uncomfortable....or, shower at home.

Some members appear to be from other countries, not familiar with "being in the buff" in locker rooms. It took me a while to get comfortable changing........

I totally get you're feeling awkward. When I would take showers at the gym I always got naked in the shower and had a towel around me when I walked into the changing area. I just thought it was more considerate than being naked in front of complete strangers. Yes a locker room is where people get naked but do I really want to see your butt crack? Try to look the other way and don't let it stop you from going to the gym.
