  • Hi, Ive been off of MFP for a while...getting back on track with mindful eating...yoga practice is still going strong!!! 7 years this January
  • I try to shop each week with a certain dollar amount to spend. I can cook 3-4 meals a week and then we eat leftovers for lunch / dinners the other nights. I have a Whole foods grocery store or Farmers market I can go to. I only buy what is on sale for fruit and frozen veggies and the meat specials for the week. I then make…
  • I have found them at Fred Meyer (Kroger grocery stores) they are pretty inexpensive. You can also use spaghetti squash instead in place of any pasta
  • Hi, I am up to this! I have been practicing yoga for 5 years but, constantly battle my weight. I have Hashimoto's and am post menopausal at 44. So, I went through some pretty major hormone changes over the last few years. I am focused this year to get back to myself and a healthy weight. Lots of yoga, walking and clean…
  • I don't recommend it. I have done it and lost 15 pounds and over a year gained it all back. My lesson is that I have to change a pill or drink isn't going to do it for me. If it works for you that is great! I know it can be hard to get started and you have to start somewhere but, just eat lots of veggies and lean meats and…

  • Make sure to chew your pills and break up the dosage(1/2 morning and 1/2 after lunch on empty stomach). Just drink water and allow it to absorb into your system )(15-30 mins works for me) Don't eat soy products and stay away from Calcium within 4 hours of taking the pill.
  • When I first tried Armour it was too much for me. The second time I went on it after being on Levoxcyl and Cytomel for 3 years it worked much better. However, I had also changed my diet to more whole foods and gluten free, began taking a multi-vitamin with Selenium I also take 10k IU of Vitamin D3 4-5 days a week and began…
  • Hi Everyone, I have been practicing yoga for 4 years. Even though I am heavier I love to practice. Yoga really is for every-body. I have gained and lost the same 15 pounds a few times since going through some medical stuff. However, I am really working hard to just eat clean, practice when I can and not weigh myself. I am…
  • Height: 5'8" Age/Gender: 43 yoa Female Highest weight- 185 lbs Current Weight- 169 lbs Current body fat - ?? Lowest weight- 118lbs -very lean and fit after my first baby Goal weigh- 145-155 pounds I would like to be in this range..I should really be less than 160 pounds for my frame
  • I have the standard MFP percentages (not sure how I can change them???). I don't do low carb but, I try to do gluten free instead. I do still eat bread on occassion but, really try to be careful. I think carbs from veggies are fine, such as the sweet potatoes. I also try to use mostly coconut oil for cooking. Anyway, I…
  • I guess now that I have lost some weight I am more hour glass shaped. I am 43 and in the last year I am finally embracing my body type. My mom is very petite and built small. I think I was insecure that my body type was the opposite of hers and she would make remarks about how "big" I was. I was 5'8" and 125 pounds at 15 I…
  • cookies any type are my ultimate weakness...I spend too much on protein bars but, they work for me for breakfast with some fruit
  • Excellent advice!
  • I take Catalyst from Advocare. No jittery side effects but, seems to help maintain muscle tone when you are excersing and on trying to lose on a lower calorie diet that and tons of water with lemon slices in it. I can't take anything with caffeine or I will be climbing the walls
  • I have about 4 pounds that I fight with. When I start to eat more calories the 4 pounds comes back quick. But, when I eat really lean I can get it off pretty quickly but, getting below that has not happened yet. Not sure what to do
  • as for bread and pasta I buy gluten free bread (Udos taste pretty great toasted!) and I use shirataki noodles for pasta (takes some getting used to but it works or I love spaghetti squash I make it in the mircowave and just shred it. I eat everything my family eats I am just mindful of the ingredients and find some…
  • Here is mine! Feel free to friend me if you wish! 1) How much medication are you on? 2 grains of Armour (I can go up to 4 a day if I feel I need to) 2) What were your last TSH/T4 levels? sorry don't have that handy, but my TSH antibodies were at 4000 are now at 300 ( I have Hashimotos) 3) How many calories do you each each…
  • I did the Isagenix cleanse/program a few years ago. It went really well for me however I had to stop using their products as I got some unexpected side effects...best of luck to you

  • The last 3 pairs I have had to go from an 8.5 to an 8...I have been an 8.5 since my daughter was born 24 years ago and I was much much thinner...seems weird that when I was much smaller (like 50 pounds smaller) my feet had grown. I had been a 7 or 7.5 until I was 20 now at 43 my feet are shrinking..so weird
  • Some of the things I buy regularly but, have reduced but, has reduced my grocery bill a lot! dried beans (any variety) you can boil them and freeze them to use in dishes later especially if you are short on meat Bag of rice tilapia (bag of frozen is $3.20 each at Fred Meyer / Kroger grocery stores) squash (acorn and…
  • I just found this post. So glad to see some fellow yogi's here. I practice 3-4 days a week, hot hatha, vinyasa and recently yoga sculpt I love the way it has changed my body and my mind. Namaste
  • Thanks for sharing. I just stepped up my practice (classes) 3-4 days a week. Due to injuries I can't lift weights or do any running or jumping. So walking and yoga are it for me. I did try a yoga sculpt class with light hand weights seems to be making a difference. Best of luck!
  • If you live in the northern states you may want to take some Vitamin D3 at bedtime this time of year it is dark and dreary and we don't get any sun. Also, try just going for a walk on your lunch break this may give you more energy for an evening workout and if not at least you got a walk in. I work 40+ hours a week and I…
  • I was 38 but, I had been having symptoms since my last child at age 29. I finally hit a wall at 38 and went to my Nurse practioner and she found my thyroid antibodies was at 4000 and diagnosed me with Hashi's. Then I spent 1 wasted year with and Endo before I found my naturopath who saved my life! I am now 43 and the last…
  • Body weight exercises are the best! I have numerous injuries (knees, hips, shoulders) so, weights are pretty difficult for me. I do a lot of yoga. Trust me it develops a lot of strength just holding yourself up in these various positions is a challenge. Sometimes you can get a free introductory yoga class and then 10…
  • I have had Hashi's for several years. What has worked for me is the gluten free diet, lots of veggies some fruit, stay away from processed foods as much as possible. I do cheat with bread on occasion but not every day. Also, healthy fats are wonderful avocado, coconut oil, olive oil flax seed oil I do not limit these at…
  • I do the full spread for the big T-day feast...we use fairly small plates (my china is old so, the plates are a normal size not platters) This really helps me control the portions and I do a little of everything. I then pack up the leftovers for my guests so, I don't have too much afterwards but, enough for some sandwiches…
