  • AVOCADO ;)
  • Welcome to the group! I've been LFRV for over a year and a half now and I've never felt better and my weight and health have improved SO much as a result. Please feel free to add me as I have a lot of experience making a big variety of raw, low fat, and vegan foods and I'm familiar with what the transition process is like…
  • its very possible to enjoy yummy carbs without having gluten! Why cut out gluten? If you're allergic or feel you may lose more weight without it, then I totally understand because I am highly allergic to gluten too! Going gluten free is so cheap and fun IF (big if) you have the motivation to learn how to cook your own…
  • I don't like the results I get when i have so much fat in my diet- coffee is my FAVORITE and I have several cups a day so I go for really low fat vegan and organic options. It's up to you in the end what you do best with, definitely go for a week or two with a low fat non-dairy creamer and just see how your body responds…
  • I would highly recommend organic dried fruit (no sugar added) for snacks - heat proof and AMAZING for travel Energy bars are the BOMB when you make them yourself, you can have as few or as many flavors and ingredients as you like! You can add protein powder, oatmeal, peanut butter, dried fruit, nuts, cocoa powder, really…
  • I still do intermittent fasting but I do know from experience that if you want to start eating throughout the day fruit and veggie- based meals are really good for helping you get full - you will be hungry more often but the thing is your stomach will be used to eating bigger amounts of food, so it's really important to…
  • I've posted about this in another thread, but you should look into low fat raw veganism - I am coming from a damaged metabolism and now I can eat 1700+ calories without gaining weight, and my metabolism loves it! I think the best way to repair a metabolism is to eat clean, raw plant foods without any added salt/sodium…
  • If you don't like it you could also try Raw Meal Vanilla or Chocolate vegan protein powder, it's so healthy and full of complete proteins and is amazing on it's own or even better with a frozen banana, ice, chia seeds, and a few raw dates thrown in. I used to have tummy issues with all types of protein powders and shakes…
  • I am in recovery from anorexia and following a low fat raw vegan lifestyle helped me mentally SO much. I'm not saying this for sure will help you recover but I highly recommend it, it's the only way in my 3+ years of severe anorexia and bulimia that helped me to eat enough guilt free. My hair's coming back, I look…
  • Hi :) I have been suffering with depression and suicidal thoughts for 2-3 years and I've been on meds for it for about a year. I tried to wean myself off them multiple times but each time I started getting suicidal thoughts and depression/anxiety attacks, so I had to go back on them. I've always thought that the best…
  • I've been vegan (falling off the wagon here and there, especially since my hubby and everyone I know kept trying to force it on me till I finally got the courage to say no) for about a year now. I've been a low fat raw vegan (80/10/10, 30BAD, fruitarian, whatever you want to call it :P) for two weeks! :) I decided to go…
  • For me it's coffee with unsweetened soymilk in the morning! Cut out diet sodas, sugarfree gum, and anything artificially sweet and you'll see your cravings go waaay down. I also love to keep cucumbers on hand because I have a veggie shredded that turns it into long strips, then I can marinate it in soy sauce, sweet chili…
  • You can juice rhubarb, strawberries, and add stevia for sweetness and get strawberry rhubarb pie in a glass! Plus it's 1000x healthier! :)
  • >>>>boiled and drained carrots dipped in balsamic vinegar mixed with ketchup. So delicious for the healthy people who gave up fries years ago like me. =) also, carrots shredded with a spiralizer (veggie pasta maker), with vinaigrette dressing, honey mustard, black pepper, and lemon juice. So bomb :)
  • I do 2-3 cups of strong hot espresso made from fresh organic beans, with a generous amount of soymilk to top it off. I don't use sweetener anymore, even stevia, and I think that it's been good for my cravings to not start out my day with something sweet. :) Sometimes I blend it with a little cinnamon in my vitamix and it…
  • I'm not sure why, maybe because I'm 21 and I don't even have the guts to accept my body for what it is, but your story made me cry a little. If you are as happy as you seem, you have something that few people ever get and I hope you cherish that peace with yourself, and are able to share that peace with your loved ones.
  • It's important to remember that healthy food IS enough for your body... but for your mind and emotions? Well, that's a different story. In modern times food is so plentiful that it is used more as a comfort blanket than for nourishment. We eat to numb our feelings, or to reward ourselves. The most important thing is to try…
  • 1 scoop chocolate vegan protein powder, stevia (or brown sugar), almond milk, guar gum, and a ripe banana are my magical five ingredients. Combined in different ways, they can be pancakes, pudding, chocolate cake, ice cream, popsicles, cookies, or a thick protein shake. Honestly I can live off those five ingredients and a…
  • When in doubt go for the natural route. Blend a banana, some non dairy milk, peanut butter, and some honey. Add enough milk so it's not thick. Studies show that thick shakes make you much fuller for longer. My husband has trouble maintaining his weight as well and for him I also like blending protein powder or peanut…
  • From your food diary, you regularly undereat by WAY too little (~1000 calories a day or under), and occasionally have big binges. You sound quite a bit more unhealthy than your husband whom you are so worried about. I'm not saying this to be rude, I hope you don't take this as an attack, but I just hope that you might…
  • buy yourself a high quality heart rate monitor that tracks calories burned! Problem solved and no more guesswork. :)
  • Choose foods that are not hard to moderate (individually portioned treats for instance) and lots of healthy foods to snack on like hummus and baby carrots, preparing your own hard-boiled eggs, pickles, salsa, dried fruit, nuts and seeds, fresh fruits and veggies, yogurt, and ingredients you can use to make simple meals.…
  • Yeah I am ravenous the whole day and cant stop thinking about food even when eating at TDEE. Who knows, maybe it's a psychological thing. I'm sure technically, it's supposed to work for people, but some people are different. In my case I am a LOT less stressed and better able to handle life in general when I skip…
  • I've struggled with this before and I might not be able to help you but I'll just tell you what helped me. It's controversial, but I found that if I ate breakfast, I was hungry the entire rest of the day and couldn't be filled up or stop thinking about eating anything I could get my hands on. After I replaced breakfast…
  • For a hungry man on a diet I'd suggest lean chilis, taco salads with beef, sauteed onions, and peppers, steak and steamed/grilled veggies, Baked chicken and fish, and lots of raw fruit and veggies. Protein and fiber are both very filling, carbs are not. :)
  • Since you are so short there shouldn't be a reason why you can't eat at 1200 calories. I'm 5'6 and my BMR is around 1400 and when I eat over that, I gain really fast unless I'm doing cardio and weights like a mad(wo)man.
  • Velveeta, and mayonnaise are my picks. They almost always have horrible ingredients, (hydrogenated oils, msg, high fructose corn syrup, etc) high fat and calories, and low nutrition.
  • Wow! you look amazing and lean! Not to mention your face looks like a movie star now, I'm reminded a bit of The Rock :) Nothing to hold you back from coaching your son's team now!!
  • I do 1.5 to 2 hours of cardio and strength training (total) 7x a week. Total addict here. ;) I want to build muscle and get lean, but I do it every day not because of that, but because it helps keep me sane! lol I need to exhaust my body so my brain's too tired to think! xD
  • health does not = weight loss. If your goal is to be healthier, eat clean but go over your cals if you feel like it. If your goal is to lose weight, eat clean, but a little less of the higher cal stuff. Larabars are very high call and have a lot of sugar, why not have a banana or a salad instead for half the cals? I…
