  • I have found Alegria shoes to be a God send. They have a pretty pronounced arch too, but well worth a try. www.alegriashoeshop.com has some good prices on clearance shoes.
  • Just type in the name of the restaurant in the search box and all items that are available in MFP will show up in the list. If you are unsure about the accuracy, you can go to the restaurant website usually and double check.
  • Natural sugars in fruit and vegies as well as whole grains absorb into the bloodstream more slowly than processed sugar, starches (potatoes, rice, pasta etc) and white breads. It's easier for your body to use it as it slowly goes into the bloodstream instead of being flooded with sugar that it cannot use. Whole fruit is a…
  • I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Jan 2011 with fasting blood glucose of 265. I have been successful in maintaining a normal blood sugar with diet alone and I find that the tools available on MFP are essential for keeping up with daily intake of carbs. A common misconception appears to be that sugar is the culprit,…
  • Try experimenting with new recipes that you make up yourself. I have found several very good recipes on the internet for muffins, cookies, etc that are made with low carb-low cal ingredients that I would never have thought to use. We'd love to see what you come up with.:drinker:
  • Be sure the portion size you are recording matches what you are actually eating. Measure and weigh food in the beginning to be sure. Other than that-- Yes, it is that simple.
  • Your body is hard wired to plump you up so it can provide nourishment and protection for the baby. Cravings aren't even funny, but just remember that the good balanced diet that we all should be eating is also good for your baby. BTW some of your weight gain is baby and all that comes with it, so you haven't gained back…
  • "Reduced sugar" items can be very misleading. They can sometimes have more total carbs that the real thing. Its best to stay away from ALL sugary things (added processed sugar) because as long as you are eating them, you will crave them. I know all things in moderation is the general concensus, but I'm speaking from…
  • Don't worry about sugar on mfp because it doesn't know the difference between added sugar and natural sugar in fruits and vegies. The total carbs is what you need to be concerned with. You might want to track your fiber instead of sugar because fiber is an important part of you diet.
  • Peeked at your profile---Value yourself enough to eat a healthy diet and to lose weight FOR YOU if thats what you want. If your fiance is so shallow that he would rather have you sick and thin than healthy and a little heavier, then ditch the dude!!! Take care of you. Best wishes.
  • Excellent point.
  • Everyone loses more than normal in the first couple of weeks, but that is a lot. Following a vegan diet, you are going to have to make SURE that you are getting plenty of protein. If not, some of that weight loss may be muscle and you sure don't want to do that. Muscle burns calories, so end the end, if you lose it you…
  • My sister has scoliosis and had surgery later in life. Her doctor recommended swimming or walking for her.
  • I love the Atkins Endulge Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar. Tastes like a Payday
  • I'm not allergic to sugar, but am diabetic. I was a serious carbaholic but for health sake chose to give up certain things in order to stay off medication. I found that staying away from sweets, bread, potatoes, rice etc became easier and easier until now I no longer crave those things. It is truly like coming off a drug…
  • I don't do Atkins per say, but do limit my carbs to around 100 gr per day in order to control my blood sugar. Weight loss has been a wonderful side affect. Eat GOOD fats and they will help satisfy your hunger. And snack on high protein/good fats (like nuts) in between befor you get so hungry. Even though they seem like a…
  • Sounds right to me. I went to a website with the nutrition info of the cake mix. It has 32 carbs (23 sugar) grams in each serving. I wonder if OP failed to multiply nutrition by 12 before inputting into recipe builder
  • Nuts of any kind would be a better choice. High in calories, protein, and GOOD fat--still healthy and won't keep you wanting more like sugary foods will.

  • Try strength training to build muscle. A lot of excersizes can be done sitting in a chair using the little hand held weights. Google to find some you might can tolerate. Good luck with your efforts.
  • I use the calories and carbs as listed on the package and count them all (not net of fiber). If some of them don't actually count its a bonus for weight loss and glucose control. Better to be safe than sorry.
  • Lack of sleep creates stress on the body which in turn promotes the secretion of cortisol which encourages fat deposits--or so I hear.
  • would it help fit in guidelines to make servings a bit smaller?
  • I like yellow squash or zuchini (or both) and onion sauted in a little olive oil. The onion carmelizes and its sort of sweet tasting. Brocolli salad made with low cal mayo, apple cider vinegar and splenda (or other sweetener) for the dressing. Tomatoes-home grown are the best.
  • Unsweetened Almond milk or Soy milk are the only low carb milks I know of.
  • More fiber is a GOOD thing.
  • What about the Splenda Sugar Blend for baking. Does it perform ok? or is it just not worth it?
  • You're off to a great start! Keep up the good work.
  • Everything I've seen about substituting different flours recommends only replacing half the flour. It has something to do with it rising. You can probably find recipes with substitutions already made. Try Googling it.
  • Emerald Cinnamon Roasted Almonds (sooo good!) and any kind of fruit.
