  • It completely depends on the situation for me. If I'm just running for training, I can run A LOT faster on a treadmill because it's a completely controlled environment. However, my race times are always significantly faster than my treadmill times even if I'm trying to run at race speed on the treadmill.
  • I've been lurking on this thread all day, just watching the fireworks. "Butt hurt." I don't have to do Ab Ripper X tonight now because I laughed so hard.
  • I didn't read through all the posts to see if anyone's said this yet, but it's not necessarily about the weight. All of us, women & men, are more confident about ourselves (in almost every aspect of our lives) when WE think we look good. Confidence, not arrogance, is sexy.
  • Hell yes. Work that s**t out! Nice job!
  • By just a quick glance of your diary, I would considerably cut back on the wine. Three and a half bottles in four days is a lot and it's not just about the calories. Your body burns the alcohol before anything else, which means it's not burning calories. You don't have to give it up (we all our own little something), but I…
  • There is certainly nothing wrong with treating yourself to something you enjoy, but I think a lot of people are unaware of what alcohol actually DOES to our bodies. http://www.thefactsaboutfitness.com/research/alcohol.htm That said, and fully knowing what it does to my body, I have a couple of beers on my "day off," which…
  • I'll second that Amen.
  • I'm certainly no expert, but from my experience there is little chance of you eating that many calories and staying with those percentages. There are lots of great ways to add calories to your diet with adding a lot of food, things like nuts, seeds, olive oil, avocados & salmon. Those are all "fatty." It's healthy fat, but…
  • I personally think that all three of them are subjective/relative, so my answers would have to be prefaced with the question(s): "compared to who?" and/or "by who?"
  • I am currently doing P90X. There are tons of slogans/motivational messages throughout the workouts. Things like; push play everyday & bring it. I taught those sayings to my four year old daughter and told her to make sure she tells me that every night before she goes to bed. Now, she embellishes just a little and says to…
  • Enjoying yourself is always good to do now and then, but remember that the calories from the alcohol itself really isn't the issue: http://www.thefactsaboutfitness.com/research/alcohol.htm

  • The Jennie-O Turkey Brats are actually pretty good. They are absolutely insane on the sodium front (I think 700 mg per link), but quite tasty.
  • I typically drink between 4 and 6 liters. Yes, liters. I think you're doing just fine.
  • MFP lets you track all of the ones you mentioned at the same time.
  • I am on day two of week 5 of P90X. I've lost 11 pounds so far and 2 inches off my waist. If you do it, even modified (obviously pending dietary strictness), it can't not work.
  • I currently use the Body for Life ratios of 40% protein, 40% carbs & 20% fats. My wife does it so it sounded good.
  • I agree that drinking a large glass of water before you eat is a great way to help overeating, but in the grand scheme of things nothing is "up" with you. Eat. Eat like you've never eaten before, just make a couple of better choices. I peeked at your food diary. Your main source of calories for your "huge" lunch was the…
  • I think it's just a high protein diet in general. When I'm "on," I'm shooting for 200g of protein a day. Until last week I had never consumed any sort of protein supplement and I still got wicked gas from the high protein diet I was getting from strictly food.
  • "when someone asks you if you're a god, you say 'YES'!" Sorry, I couldn't resist that one. I drink anywhere from 4 to 6 liters of water a day, so I would imagine that while possible, it is most likely not probable.
  • My daughter asking me from the top of the stairs this morning if she could come down to give me a kiss & hug before she got dressed. Like she had to ask...
  • I'm in my 5th week of P90X. I skip all the time due to my schedule. I start back with whatever was supposed to be my next workout. I don't know if that is the "right" thing to do, but it seems to have worked so far for me.
  • I start week 5 tonight. I'm down 11 pounds so far and 2 inches in the waist. If you have any questions, let me know MakingAChoice - Yoga is hard and repetitive - seemingly. Stick with it - the whole 90 minutes. I only did the first 20 minutes the first two times I did it because I got impatient. I kick myself for that…

  • MFP is super smart. It totally knows that you didn't work as hard today as you did yesterday. I'm kidding of course. I have no idea why it would do that. It sounds pretty stupid to me.
  • Too many people these days ignore the concepts of politeness, compassion & courtesy under the guise of Freedom of Speech. Sorry about your friend's sister's husband. Not sorry about being a hot mama. Congratulations on your hard work!
  • It is physically impossible to gain 11 pounds in a day. Period. There are myriad reasons why that could've happened. 1. You weren't wearing the exact same clothing you wore the day before. 2. The scale wasn't in the exact same spot it was when you weighed in last. 3. You stood differently on the scale than you did the day…
  • Eat more! Yes. That's right. You're barely netting 1200 calories a day on average. That's less than a vast majority of women's maintenance level without exercising. It sounds crazy, but you can eat too little, particularly when you are exerting that much energy on a daily basis. Good luck, keep your head up & smile!
  • Wait. People smoke weed in Colorado?
  • I completely agree. I find myself steering away from the forums because their such a bummer a lot of the time. This is hard for everyone. It may be harder for some than others. What isn't there to love about the idea of a healthier you, much less an actual healthier you? Enjoy your life and SMILE, everyone!
  • I've discovered pumpkin seeds. They're fattier than I would prefer, but at least it's the "good" fat. Good amount of protein in relation to calories: 15g, 280. One other great thing is the sodium compared to other crunchy, carby snacks like them: only 20mg per serving.
