How do you stop living in extremes?
For the better part of my adult life, I've lived on one of 2 ends of the spectrum. Either extreme laziness, overeating, and weight gain - or - extreme exercise, calorie deficit, and weight loss. Last year I lost 50 lbs using mfp and intense 30 min - 1 hr workouts around 5 days a week. I was only able to maintain for about…

Increasing calorie intake!
I have a question and I hope I can find an answer on here :( So about a year ago I decided to really commit to weight loss because my entire life I was always the chunky girl that everyone made fun of. I was never happy with my body and I finally said enough is enough. At the beginning of the year I just made simple…

Am I at maintenance if my weight isn't moving?
I've been eating at roughly 1300 calories throughout my weight loss and making good progress but now my weight hasn't moved since October. I'm only 1kg away from the goal I set myself. I get shaky and irritable if I eat below 1300. Does that mean 1300 is my maintenance number?

Do you still see a fat person in the mirror?
I have lost over 30 pounds with MFP, and 78 pounds from my max overall. I am a svelte size 4-6 US and healthier than I have ever been, YET... when I see myself in the mirror I only see problems. I don't see the progress. My first reaction is to think I need to lose 10 more pounds. I'm not acting on these thoughts. I am…

how many calories...?
I am. 5'9, female, how do I know exactly how many calories I burn a day just by default, I mean breathing, digestion, etc. Once I know that, how. Many calories do I eat to lose a pound a week? I feel like counting is useless unless.you know your default burn.

New to the boards--need to stop losing weight (sorry if this is a repost)
Hello--I did a few searches and didn't seem to find a thread along these lines, so I apologize if this is a repost of a previously exhausted subject. So I've been using MFP for a solid 8 months (after using it a few years ago for a while and then falling off the wagon). I reached my goal to lose 20 pounds in November,…

Maintaining is getting boring!!
Dont let my title anger you but I dieted down, weighed and logged EVERYTHING!! I had a goal weight of 30lbs and hit it. Now I've been maintaining for 8 months and I'm bored with it. When I was cutting I had a goal to look forward to and every Saturday morning I couldn't wait to weigh in. Now there no goal to work towards,…

Maintenance calories newbee question
very new to maintenance and have read through some posts. I understand people usually up their calories by 100 a week to start with until they get there ideal maintenance calorie allowance. How much difference is your maintenance calories from what mfp calculated? I can't imagine being able to eat 800 more cals to stay the…

Thoughts??
okay, I've been at 1900 kcals for about two weeks now and I saw a two lb difference since then. I had myself at 166 carbs, 143 protein, and 74 fat. I lift heavy for over an hour, everyday. I'm not sure if that's enough to tell anything but I'm unsure if the two pounds were most likely from mainly fat, or possibly muscle. I…

Working out while having Bronchitis/Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis
it's a lot harder to try. you only get a few hours to do anything before your internal body's battery runs out. My method or routine for this is to go for a long speed walk first, no jogging. To loosen up the lungs and phlegm. Then immediately go to the gym and shoot baskets for no more than an hour. No getting into pickup…

Nike Fuel Band
I've lost 80 pounds and have maintained it for about a year (have been at or under initial goal since April 2013). Got the Nike Fuel Band and it is amazing! Not just does it track steps and calories, but wants you to move every hour for at least 5 minutes (have to get at least 6 fuel points/minute). since I've been aiming…

Found a nice piece on why your scale moves around every day
I teach statistics, weigh every morning, and have been logging here forever, so really liked this post on why your weight changes day-to-day. It's much longer than this, but very brief summary: Glycogen stores. This amount depends on your current consumption of carbohydrates. For every gram of carbohydrate that your body…
