Crash Diet :(
Im 5’8 and 18 years old and unfortunately went on a crash diet. I was always skinny until junior year of high school, where I put on a lot of pounds because of unhealthy eating and I stopped playing sports. Anyways, this year, I (unknowing of the consequences) went on a crash diet by only eating 1 meal a day (dinner) and…

New to maintaining weight, could use some buddies!
I used this website to lose weight and haven't been on here in a while. I'm having trouble maintaining because I'm not tracking what I eat (I'll eat way too little or way too much) so now I'm back! I could use some buddies who are also in maintenance mode. :)

Maintenance =/= Promised Land: Advice for new maintainers.
I read a lot of posts from people who are nervous about starting maintenance. Oh boy, can I relate. I was totally nervous and for good reason - we worked really hard to get here and it seems like so many people work so hard to lose all this weight then gain it right back within a frighteningly short period of time. What…

Scared of yoyoing...
So, I am only 21 years old but I have lost a significant amount of weight for the third time. I was 165lbs when I was 12-13, got down to 134 when I was 14. Got up to 156 when I was 16, down to 124 when I was 17. I was up to 170-something in January, and now I am down to 130, hoping to get down to 125 but if I stay here I'd…

Is it time to stop lowering my goal weight?
Hi everyone! :) I'm having a bit of conflict with myself about my goal weight. I've spent the last 6 months losing at an average of 0.4 / 0.5kgs a week (1 / 1.3lbs). A few weeks ago I hit my initial goal weight of 58kg. Not being happy with that, I lowered it to 57kg... then 56kg... and now I'm almost at my new goal weight…

Committed Friends/Support System Needed!
Hey y'all, I am in need of a few new COMMITTED friends. I recently went through and realized that more than half of my MFP friends have gone inactive, and so I am in need of a stronger support system. Background: I've been a "member" of this site since 2010, when I was using it to track my intake for medical reasons. I…

"Just get back on the wagon!"
A quick question. Say perhaps someone maintaining has a TDEE of 2000. Then they have a cheat day and overeat by 3500. They panic and ask for help here and everyone tells them, don't worry! Just get back on the wagon tomorrow! Or, just log it and move on! What exactly does that "getting back on the wagon" mean? Does it mean…

Question on Protein Goal - Before or After Exercise?
Hi, I'm curious about the Protein/Carb/Fat ratio settings in MFP, particularly I want to make sure I'm getting enough protein during maintenance since I'm still trying to lose some inches and tone up. I've read that your goal for protein should be 1-1.5 g/lb of Lean Body Mass (LBM). Got it, and set my ratio in MFP to…

On Vacation
I am on vacation this weekend for the first time since losing 60lbs and I'm getting kind of anxious! I have been vacationing for the past three days (head home tomorrow) and I have been eating at least 3000 calories all three days! I fully expect a slight gain and I have been focusing on gaining some muscle anyway. But I…

Instead of counting calories, exercise/high protein?
Just curious, what if instead of counting calories in maintenance, if you just ate reasonably healthy, but made sure to eat high protein and exercised (cardio/weights) consistently, would anything you eat above your caloric goal simply add muscle instead of fat?

Changing diary settings
So, when I hit my goal, and switch my tracking/diary settings to "maintain" -- is it going to be retroactive? As in, will all my PAST diary days have those new calorie/fat/sugar goal numbers on them, and hence look really wrong and askew....or will the change only take effect on the day I do it and forward? I'm afraid to…

A word about maintining
Say what you will... Our bodies are not perfect machines. We are, after all, humans and not robots. So if you are beating yourself up over a pound or two maybe it's time to stop it. In February I started to eat better and exercise so that I could lose 20 lbs. From 140 to 120. I achieved this in May. Since then my weight…

Only 7.5kg/17lb to go to get to goal...
So I've not much to go before hitting goal. I'm really not sure how fast I should go at getting there. If you were that weight above goal weight, how long would you prefer to take to arrive at goal weight?
