I think we all get disgusted at some point on our weight loss journey but the difference on this journey
is my new found friends that I truly love hanging out with. They don't criticize when our weight loss is slow
or fast and are there to cheer you on when you feel down.

Connie and Marie you have been my inspiration since day one for me. I so enjoy what you post everyday.
You have stayed the course even when the going is rough and still daily give us support and encouragement.
I just say to both of you that this too will pass and you will will get over this rough spot soon
and the scales will be more favorable. Love both of you.

I in no way want to minimize what all of you mean to me on this thread but Connie and Marie embraced me
the first time I posted on this thread and I was at a place I felt rather hopeless as far as losing weight.

Marie, I definitely understand. I was really down on myself last week, and it wasn't the first time. It just goes to show how this is a mental battle as well. We are all our toughest critics. Luckily these days pass.

Awww, Nancy...that is so sweet :).
You are so right..hanging out here is so encouraging because here are people who "get you" and what you are trying to do. There is no way I could explain this camaraderie to "regular" people who are not a part of this community. <3

I know tomorrow is my weigh in and I am hoping for a loss, but I will continue on the next challenge and I had a week's vacation weight to deal with but will take it off sooner or later.
We can do this with each other's support! Fantastic group!

Just one thing when we do have movie popcorn at the movies, my husband and I share it and definitely have no butter. The salt is enough to deal with later on. :p

Marie - Sorry you are down in the dumps. When we have health related issues taking weight off can be difficult. You are sticking to your plan so you will eventually see results.
Another challenge is coming up to do better. I am looking forward to it, keeps me accountable.

Nancy - I agree this is a great group for support and no judgment. We are all in this together!!

Shirley..my hubs and I share it, too, with no butter. I just drink more water than usual the entire day to flush it out! In fact, all this talk of movie popcorn makes me want to go to the movie! :) I normally pop corn in a brown paper bag in the microwave...no salt to worry about!

Connie - try microwaving in a plain paper bag, just add oil. No preservatives.

Marie, I'm sure that movie popcorn has too much sodium for Jake, but I'm impressed that he got the small instead of the larger ones that he used to get. I don't know much about fat except that I stay away from salad dressing and only occasionally cook something in olive oil.

:D Anyone who is still posting is a winner because it says that you're still aiming for your goal of weight loss.

:D My choice of food is governed by health so I choose foods with high nutrition and stay away from foods that don't contribute to better health.

Hi everybody. Today has definitely been a *kitten* day. That means sure happy it's Thursday. I crashed today. I swam laps for an hour and then walked against the current in the current pool for an hour this morning. I'm not sure if it was the sinus infection or the less than 1200 calories I've been eating every day or a combination of both but I felt so tired that I laid down for a nap at 1:00. I didn't get out of bed until 4:15 when dinner was ready. I do have a Drs appt tomorrow for an antibiotic. I've only been fighting this sinus crap since the end of January. I hate flying. This happens every time I fly. Sorry. My turn to vent. The scale has been changing in my case but not my health. Ugh.

    Good morning, losers! Happy Friday!

Esther..hope you will feel better soon. That was an amazing workout in the pool. Under 1200 cals is probably not enough to fuel those workouts.

Marie..may the scale be forever in your favor this morning. Mine is staying put between the same few ounces. grrrr >:)

Barbie..thanks for reminding me that I am a winner :D. Some days are just SO hard to stay positive and upbeat.

Cloudy and rainy here today. I'm going to the gym for training and aquazumba, and I'm going to make myself enjoy it! :#

    Have a great day, all!
    Stay strong!

Good morning, everyone! It's weigh-in day for me.

    SW 229.4 (March1)
    CW 219.2
    Easter goal: 220
    UG: 140

If this morning's loss maintains, I've made my 10 lb. goal for Easter! I'm 68, and this is a huge achievement for me. After all these years I think I've finally found a way of eating that my body responds to.

Sunny, I think it's wonderful that your parents have taken up bike riding! I'd probably kill myself if I tried that! Glad you joined our group! :)

Marie, I hope this is a really good day for you. You're such an encourager, I hope you know that everyone is cheering for you! Sinus infections are miserable; I hope you get to feeling a whole lot better soon. :)

Connie, you're a bit of sunshine every morning with your early morning greeting. I hope this is a great day for you, too! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day and weekend! <3

Marie--fantastic loss, congratulations! I know how happy you must feel today! We're thrilled for you.

    Gray Bon--Happy Birthday!

Nancy--Always enjoy reading your comments. Your weight loss is really an encouragement to me.

Good morning! Congratulations Ellen Shirley and Marie. Looking good.

Well I lost one of the lbs. that I'd gained so far. So yay for that. Now off for a walk I usually jog, but I feel like taking in the scenery and listening to some inspirational messages this morning. have a great day ladies.

I wrote big ol' post last night, and then accidentally hit the "back" arrow and lost it all.:p

    Happy Birthday, Gray Bon!

Belinda, I have a pair of jeans that were my favorite when I was 17-18. I'm hoping to fit into those again soon, as well as go shopping in my closet! :)

Congratulations, Marie!! Three pounds is very nice! (*)

I decided to weigh in today, I've been really enjoying not weighing in every day since earlier in the week, but decided to go ahead and weigh today. I'll also weigh again next Friday(and of course Sunday morning).
But, I'm down 3.8 lbs. since last week. Crazy!

    SW: 184
    Easter SW: 171
    Easter GW: 151
    UGW 135-140
    Current Weight: 156.2
    Total loss overall: 27.8 lbs.

A little more than five more pounds to reach my Easter goal! I'd be really surprised to see that happen over the next 8 days, so I'm not expecting that at all. But the nice thing is, it looks like I might break in to the 140's in April. :D Our pool here opens in early June, so I think I'm on track for that.
The lady in our apt. office has been giving me so many compliments lately. She noticed I'd lost weight last week, and called me "skinny" the other day, and complimented my loss to my husband yesterday, saying how good I've done. She has no idea how much all of that means to me. <3

TGIF! Getting ready to hit the gym, then have some homework to knock out, and then visiting a friend tonight.
I hope everyone has a happy day!

Sure, Nancy, happy to share. I'm doing LCHF--low carb, high fat. There's a very helpful LCHF forum on MFP and lots of info and videos online. I am very, very insulin resistant and had been unable to lose weight for years. I was about to sign up for bariatric surgery and did a last ditch hunt online for a natural alternative. I came up with Gary Taub's book "Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It," which is a scientific look at insulin resistance and the effect of carbs on the body. He recommends a low carb, high fat way of eating. Since I've eaten very low fat and sort of low carbs for years without any weight loss, I thought I'd try this. Well, it works--for me, anyway. The "high fat" sounds scary, but for me it's nothing more than eating skin on chicken, being liberal with olive and coconut oil, and I'm not afraid to eat bacon with my eggs in the morning. I feel very much better, and the weight is going. I eat about 20 carbs a day, all green and healthy--any veg that grows above ground. For the time being, I'm not eating fruit, which I dearly love, because the fructose is so high and would inhibit my body from burning fat. When my weight gets down, it will likely be able to metabolize fruit properly. The best thing about this besides losing weight is that I never go hungry. I spent 40 years being hungry, and this is much better! :) My fasting blood sugar dropped from 96 to 69 in three weeks.

I know a lot of people have a problem with this way of eating and I don't try to talk anybody into doing it. It just works for me b/c I am so sensitive to insulin even though I'm not diabetic. My body is burning fat now--as it is supposed to--instead of sugar. I still have a lot to learn about this way of eating, but so far it's been great. Yeah, I miss popcorn, but weight loss tastes a whole lot better!

If you have more questions, just ask. :) Thanks for caring about what I'm doing.

Ellen your book sounds interesting. I have not done that type of eating before. I follow South Beach and when it works it really works if I stick on it.

Ray - Isn't nice to finally have someone notice all the work you have done. Well done!
