I used vacation as an excuse to eat everything a person with high cholesterol shouldn't eat. Newsflash: the pizza, burgers, and donuts in DC taste like the ones we have here in Missouri.

Were they all delicious? Hope you enjoyed every bite

Some of it was totally worth it. The only thing I should have put down was the burger from Shake Shack. I wasn't really impressed. I weighed this morning and I'm at the same weight as when we left for vacation. Even though that doesn't say anything for my cholesterol, it makes me feel better.

what if we aim for 2017 by 1/17?

We can, but isn't that a bit like lowering the bar just so you won't fail? :p

Target already has valentine's candy out.

A co-worker and I were grouching about this yesterday...

The Red Velvet Kit Kats are awesome (Wal-Mart exclusive Valentine's Candy).

So far today, I folded and put away laundry, washed a load that is about to go in the dryer, had two cups of coffee and breakfast, and read morning and midmorning prayer from my breviary. I am off to a good start.

I'm off to get ready for church, one goal this year is not to miss any Sundays that I am in town.

I spent 3 hours setting up mom's new smart phone and smart tv. She now has amazon prime, Pandora, Netflix, a working DVD player. And a 40' flat-screen TV.

Now I'll spend the next 2 days helping her navigate the remotes and the buttons!

    You are a good daughter.

For those curious, here are my current 5x5 stats.

    Squats - 175 lbs.
    OHP - 75 lbs.
    Deads - 195 lbs.
    Bench 115 lbs.
    Rows - 125 lbs.

    2016 5x5 goals

Squats - 200 lbs. (at least once) (I'm going to try this tomorrow)
    OHP - 80 lbs.
Deads - 200 lbs. (I'm going to attempt this tomorrow)
Bench - 115 lbs. Well, would you look at that, I accomplished this goal
Rows - 115 lbs. I surpassed this goal, yay, me!

I am not setting weighlifting goals or weight goals, but I want to just keep making progress. Keep moving forward. #slowprogressisstillprogress

    Cause you're awesome!

No fun cooking for myself. I love to do elaborate meals but for other people. Not just myself. Plus this took 2 hours. I can only do that when I'm at my mom's for the day.

I did see a nice recipe with wild rice that I might cook this week in my ongoing quest to eliminate my cabinets of unused food.

It does look yummy, but I totally understand not going to all that trouble for just one person.

My husband thinks I've taken up yoga to help with a back injury from a car accident. The truth is, I found a couple of bowel movement yoga videos on youtube and I'm really just trying to encourage a good poop.

    Ha! Too funny!

Happy New Year's Eve everyone. It's going to be a long day unless I take a nap. Got up early, for no reason really. Started some black eye peas for later and started some wash going. I hate house cleaning. It is never ending. Looking forward to my vacation in February when I don't have to constantly clean my house. I may just burn it down when I get back. I know no one will have cleaned before I get home.

This is too funny. Hire a cleaning lady. Best investment ever.

I think she would be scared off the first day...

Mine too. I just have so much stuff that needs to be done, I get overwhelmed and don't do anything, or very little. I currently have a sink full of dishes and I can't stand looking at them, but I don't want to spend my free time cleaning the kitchen. It's a horribly vicious cycle.

I am exactly the same, and my cleaning angel just retired. My kitchen is out of control, so I just go downstairs and ignore it. I don't think we have any forks clean at this point. I'm going to have to do something about it today!

I confess that the RunTheYear website is driving me up the wall. It hasn't stopped crashing and giving errors since the day the challenge started. I paid 60 dollars for that?

    Great news everyone!

My dad admitted to me that he knows that I've been cooking diabetes friendly stuff for him lately. He told me that he was afraid of being put on a diet or 1100 calories like his dad was when he was diagnosed with diabetes. I pointed out that nutritional medicine has come a long way since then and said that I've been cooking stuff that's good for him already so it's hardly 'a diet'.

I went online and showed him his maintenance and 2lb/week calories (over 2k) and offered to help him. Then, he told me that I could set up an account for him on here if I wanted! :D He said he'll give it a try just logging and see if he likes it! :joy:

In other awesome news, I'm finally out of the 240's! I'd been struggling to get past them all last month and today I weighed in at 239 :sunglasses:

What a fantastic start to 2017 for you!!!

    @Susieq_1994 Haha, I'll keep posting then :)

Cheesecake is intimidating! Though you raise a good point on the 'what can go wrong?' thing lol

Cheesecake is a huge favorite at my house. I'd like to eventually make a sugar-free one, but you may be onto something with the 'starter' cheesecake-- that seems a lot more doable.

I did try another new recipe yesterday though! I made spiced sweet potato and black bean quesadillas. They're delicious, but definitely a 'me' treat since my dad won't touch anything that hints at being vegetarian lol I'm also making myself some lentil and spinach soup after grocery shopping tomorrow!

Im gonna try that sweet potato black bean quesadilla! I would have never thought of that myself.
That would be defiantly for me since the rest of the household thinks sweet potatos are vile.

I'm weird I only like sweet potatoes in the microwave & cannot stand sweet potato pie & can barely stand it mashed in frozen meals.

i like baking them and sprinkling cinnamon, ginge and nutmeg on them

I do butter, honey, and cinnamon. It's pretty yummy! Not exactly low calorie though...

I do butter, and a cinnamon toast sprinkle that I get at work. It's cinnamon and sugar, with cocoa powder. It's delicious. :yum:

Thank you. I have nothing to complain about. I lived to see another birthday and I wasn't supposed to see the first one. I have very definitely beaten the odds. I just feel sad today. I'm a big girl. I can survive sad.
