It's funny how it goes. I'm a deep-seated atheist, yet I love Christmas. Well certain aspects of it. I totally understand resenting the commercialisation of it. I don't stress over it and I don't get into debt, that's no fun. For me it's about family and silly fun and something to look forward to when the weather is so miserable.
Plus I enjoy making things (when I have time) and the kids are just getting to that age where it's magical so I'm all in this year. I went big on homemade decorations this year. Our house is a taste free zone!
I still love Christmas too. I don't do much as there are no little kids and that makes all the difference. It's just me and my mom and her boyfriend. But I love the tree and the music and the old movies. I was so upset my mom had a little table top tree last year she relented and got me a real tree again this year. I love to look at the tree in the dark and listen to carols.
I'm excited this year since my mom & I went together with her Walmart Savings catcher (we both contributed receipts) & bought my nieces a Barbie Dream House. To see their reaction will be priceless in itself.
At first I was researching wooden dollhouses on Walmart.com made by Kid Craft but my mom said those can take six hours to put together & more or less need to be attached to a wall in case they would fall over onto the child. With the Dream House it apparently makes different noises & some parts fold into others.
I remember the doll house my dad made was one of my favorite presents growing up. My nieces still play with it to this day.
I think I spent about $40.00-$60.00 of non savings catcher money per kid.
I even bought my sister's future kid a present. This will be her last one.
I bought my nieces the dream house years ago. And the camper. And the car. Everything Barbie. I bought them everything I was never allowed to have as a kid. My last niece was so not into Barbies so I was never able to do that for her.
My one niece I bought a My Life Doll & it's crazy all the accessories that come with these dolls. There's a pretty decent sized arcade game (plays some off brand Atari kind of games) & one at work that I kept playing with at SD had a toilet that if you hit the button it makes a flushing sound.
Wait, they have a doll toilet that flushes? Or did I misread that?

Addie update
I don’t think she hit her head. I’m more concerned about her neck. He is s tough cookie!!!2 -
Got done the last minute shopping & boy is my butt dragging. Might make a warm bath & relax a little.
On another note I had a major NSV yesterday! I bought a pair of Hudson jeans ($60.00 at TJMAXX in July that are size 31) & finally fit comfortably in them just yesterday. My next goal will be to fit back into my AG jeans (size 32) I bought on www.6pm.com a few years ago. I think the reason I can fit into the 31 is the stretch in that particular pair.
I'm now hovering anywhere from 199-204 pounds. I think it's a little higher lately due to TOM last week, eating higher sodium foods the past couple weeks, & eating at maintenance a few days. Last week I ate at maintenance almost the whole week & it was a much needed lifestyle/diet/journey break. This week I might lose with a small deficit, but I needed a few days at maintenance from how crazy/tiring this week has been.6 -
Way to go, Kelly!!1

kellyjellybellyjelly wrote: »Today my supervisor kept asking what was wrong with me. Well for one I am exhausted for busting my literal keister going double time to get everyone out as fast as I can while managing to give everyone their bags, I pushed carts a bit yesterday, & I am trying to also watch out for SD at the registers so I can grab my light & take returns if needed. My brain literally felt like it was fighting to shut off tonight a half hour before I got off.
All the customers keep asking if I am relieved that the holidays are almost over & I keep saying nope, because we'll be just as busy after the holidays with everyone buying all the leftovers & then returning everything.
UGH - sorry its so bad!1 -
@Beka3695 another earthquake. This one was a 2.8 in Monroe County, closer to you. Did you feel it??1

After a mad night yesterday (Ellie's breathing got scary but after a few hours in hospital she was much improved) I did bugger all today.
I did make some Florentines this evening once the kids were asleep. I didn't have any double cream so used full fat milk, but they're delicious anyway. It's kinda impossible to make something gross with those ingredients. I'm ridiculously excited about eating them, I figured you guys would understand.4 -

You didn't know my MIL, but she could have made something gross from those ingredients. She could cook real food passably, but I was truly frightened og her dessert.1 -

Yup .
I do love her stuffing though, but I could have lived my whole life without knowing she added liver in it & then removed it before serving. Personally I have never had to eat liver & onions or liver in general.1 -

What time was it? We were in our basement and thought someone was walking upstairs. K came back down and said the thought it was one but I didn’t see it on the geological website.
ETA: I found it on the geological site- it was as 3:10 PM. This was not what we felt and I didn’t feel it.0 -

So you have the ghost of Christmas Past at your house walking up and down the stairs.... Is that better or worse than earthquakes?3 -

My dad tried to make me eat liver once. I was 7. He said I couldn't go to bed until I ate it. I fell asleep in a maple chair with no cushion and my head on the matching table. Worst sleep ever on a school night, but I didn't eat the liver.
