No one tells you that there will be times when you wake up terrified that you've gained all the weight back....17

You've got this far with drive and focus. It won't let you go back, either.11 -
Your shoes may no longer fit.
Don't be too quick to resize your wedding bands, most jewelers won't do it more than twice.
Find and make friends with your local consignment shop, don't splurge too much on clothes until you reach (and have stayed for a while at) goal.
Some of your friends and family members will not be supportive.
It's not a linear process (especially for us girls)! Some days/weeks you will not lose anything and that's okay. Stick to your plan.
Great response, I have lost 150 pounds so far. Second hand clothing shops are your friend when on a significant weightloss journey. I look forward to when I hit my goal weight and can splurge on new outfits!
Also, it is unfortunately true how some people I have considered close friends or my family members have not been supportive. It is almost like they preferred the unhappier version of me.

Hurtful, isn't it? My mum frequently compliments me on my weight loss but my dad hasn't said a singe word about it (and it is VERY noticeable, nearly half of my starting body weight - UK size 28/30 to UK size 8/10). And yet a random stranger whose house I pass on my walks/bike rides also complimented me as she's noticed me "shrinking". People are very odd. I think that those who ignore it are either too sensitive to say anything, scared of hurting you or are just jealous. Probably the latter though, if I'm honest.

Could be this. I have a friend who got very defensive when I commented on her weight loss. She lost about 2stone (28lb) and when I mentioned how good she looked, she went off on a "Well you must have thought I was a fat cow before" rant, so I learned to never mention it to her again. Even now when she has another stone gone I don't say a word in case I upset her again.

how cold you feel without your comfy-coat ... even when it becomes warmer4

That people treat you sooooo differently. It's weird, you don't even realise how badly you had been treated until people seemingly suddenly treat you extremely well. Be it male or female, majority of people are so much nicer to me now.11

I have had dreams that I have gained it all back- then I wake up in kind of a panic and then think, "Oh, okay, the weight is still gone. Whew." Lol.7 -

why is this?? I see it too and I wonder if it is my perception of things or if people are truly nicer.6 -

I think that people treat us better after having lost weight in part because we are feeling better about ourselves. I know I'm more likely to dress in clothing that may get me noticed when I'm feeling fit. I'm more likely to smile at someone or make eye contact. When my life has gone off the rails and I've piled on the pounds I'm far more likely to avert my eyes.

May be tmi but...
That i now love kissing and being touched on my hips/butt. Used to hate all of that. hadnt realized it was because i was scared of my double chin and muffin topping until i lost them. Used to have to carry myself in a very specific way to hide them as much as possible. Now its like, Man i worked hard for this body you beter touch it.
Happy boyfriend anyway xD27 -

this. Its how you carry yourself more confidently. Although i still avert my gaze. Its weird to me to look at people i pass i dunno why lol. But iv definatly noticed people treat you beter when you treat yourself well. for me i think its because i dress well and look clean and happy vs hiding in a giant "fat" sweater i just seem more approachable8 -
How uncomfortable it would be to sit on my butt.
Not just for lack of activity but actually uncomfortable because of the padding that's gone now.
I have done a lot of glute work the past two years dropping weight at the same time. I feel like the muscle I have gained in my glutes has eliminated sore butt from sitting.

This thread is so motivational!7

I know it's been said....but why does it take the brain and eyes so long to catch up with your weight loss? I still see the chubby me.....9

That shorter hair would suit my newly rediscovered face shape. And its a lot easier to keep neat and tidy.15

To me, losing weight actually makes food taste better, because it takes away the guilt about not being on top of things. I've come to realize that I was in a "blind zone", where I'd be in the dark about what I ate, but I would always feel a bit guilty about the fact that I was probably not doing the right thing... The fact that I'm now on top of my calories, has moved me out of that blind zone. And the thing is: somehow it doesn't just make me feel better, it also makes things taste better. It feels great to eat a pizza guilt-free, safely knowing that it fits the macros. Getting away from the dark side makes the experience of eating more enjoyable. Like, 50 grams of potato chips taste way better then just mindlessly eating the whole bag.55

Yes on most of the above! After losing over 100lbs I am freezing all the time and people think they need to tell you to stop losing weight. Like some people can't say anything positive. Or the ever popular "be careful or you will gain it all back"13

I've found this, too!5 -
Will I ever experience warmth again ... ?
EVER?!
(Are people who never had to lose weight perpetually freezing as well? How would they know as they'd have nothing to compare it to?)15 -

Yeah I'm not experiencing the freezing thing but it's because I have hot flashes, so there's that. But I remember when I was in high school and being very thin and very very cold a lot of the time.5 -

You could always move to Texas. We're warm most of the time.4 -

A little snow here in Philadelphia, actually. But, I am cold regardless of the temp. In muggy, humid, swamp air August in Philadelphia, I'm still cold.
Bodies are just weird ...0 -

OMGOSH, i am wondering the same thing! I did just assume that when someone is 135+lbs lighter than they were it would be a bit colder, but i am so cold lately it is ridiculous!!! Most days this week I have had 2 pairs of pants + 1 cami, 1 tshirt, 1 thicker shirt and one fuzzy sweatshirt on!!! (in the house) Heat is set to 67, cool but not teeth chattering cold like i am experiencing.
Its been better lately because for christmas my family bought be one of those infrared heatdish things for under my desk and it has been GREAT!

I was cold after losing weight eating a high carb diet. Even after losing even more weight eating low carb high fat I am not cold as when living on high carb way of eating.5
-
Maybe the being cold thing all the time gets better over time? Maybe it takes awhile for the body to adjust?6
-
I'm cold constantly. I'm pretty sure it is due to being January in Minnesota, though.21

Come to Queensland, Australia. It's always hot here. Well we get a week of winter where it gets down to the not so freezing cold temperature of about 65 degrees Fahrenheit at night lol.
Plus it's awesome16
