Why are all the Man threads getting locked today?
They must just like you a little less than us. Or maybe the mods are checking to see which girls put out :p

This thread is the same as the other....shame on them...nothing worse than biased administrative staff.

I'm not having sex until marriage.

The only right answer I see here, and the only way to truly earn the right to wear a white wedding dress.

Haha this is hilarious. I will wear whatever the *kitten* I want at my wedding and I don't need to "earn the right" to wear a color.

Red, of course you have the "legal" right to wear whatever you want (or nothing at all) at your wedding. But with a little historical perspective you would understand that a white wedding dress MEANS something.

You can also get a Marine Corps tatoo. But if you were never in the Marines, it doesn't really MEAN anything. Same goes for wearing a white wedding dress when you didn't wait until marriage to consummate. You have the "legal" right to wear it. It just won't really MEAN anything. ;-)

The white weddign dress tradition was started by Mary Queen of Scots during the reign of Henry VIII. White was traditionally a color of morning for the scottish and by marrying a French king she was mourning for her homeland and giving up her throne. This incited a fashion trend that became a tradition in modern day. Look it up.

If trusting whatever you happen to see on Wikipedia on any given day is your idea of "looking something up", then be my guest. But get used to being wrong.

I did my Masters' Thesis on the history of marriage in Western Civilization, and I can safely say that any learned person knows full well what the traditional white wedding dress traditionally represents.

And btw, in case you didn't know, anyone can write stuff on Wikipedia. Literally ANYONE. Remember that.

So you are saying that the meaning of the white dress has changed since Mary Queen of Scott's, correct? It has also changed since 1950.

this thread makes me f'ing sick.

F-k on the first date? gross.

My ex gf cheated on me when she told me "lets work on things" and how she loves me oh so much, then the same damn night she runs off and bangs some dude she met on the internet.. then come sback saying how shes soooo sorry etc. f that. people like that make me sick.

id rather date someone who values sex rather than making it meaningless. if i go down to that level of f'ing on the first date, then i dont want to ever talk to that person again.

while I don't agree with everything you say, I just want to say I appreciate hearing someone say that they value sex rather than making it meaningless. That isn't to say that I think people who go out and do it sooner/more/with more partners are bad or whatever... it's just my value system about sexuality is something that I don't see a lot for people who aren't religious.

I value it. I don't give treats away easily (....someone said that to my dog when he was begging for treats and I felt like, Hey! THat's how I am with dudes!)

    There's no set number. It's a case-by-case basis.

Yep. This is where every guy's favorite term "getting lucky" comes into play.

this will sound awful and i could get flamed for it, but think of it like cars.... i dont want the car thats been used and abused, it might be fast, but if its all torn up i probably wont care about it much. I mean why should i? it's not even special anymore because its all beat up.

I'd rather go for the car that may have had a couple of owners but was well taken care of.

    Cool story bro.

I'd rather have a old reliable car than a get a new one that may have to get recalled anyway. You should be grateful for anything you get. (whether it be cars or women)

sad that we are comparing women to cars and "used goods"...

but just want to say, what matters really is if it has a timing belt or a chain.

Proving once again that Metal Girls are the BEST!

witches traditionally wore black wedding dresses. Since it's more sliming, I think i'll go with that.

A friend of mine wore a black wedding dress it was awesome. If I got married now I wouldn't wear white. It's so cliche. I'd probably wear blue to match my eyes.

You think I looked that up on Wikipedia? I read that in a critically acclaimed bigraphy of Queen Elizabeth for my thesis paper on the Renaissance. Lol.

Forgive me Red, I only assumed that such an ill-informed thought must have come from a source as juvenile as Wikipedia. Anyhow, like I stated, I am very familiar with marital customs through my research, but if Mary Stuart is what comes to your mind when you see the white wedding dress, that is certainly your right. ;-)

It is the ORIGINAL origin of the white wedding dress. The various transmutations of its meaning are of no consequence to me. I would much rather wear something colorful... White does wash us redheads out...

on the issue of wedding dress colors, I found this to be interesting:

    http://www.fromtimespast.com/wedding.htm

My grandmother wore a blue dress with white polka dots. She looked beautiful. But she also liked to put on pants and hiking boots and run up mountains with my grandpa. <3

I decided to look it up as I'm a nerd like that and from what I can read in a short period of time on the internet. It seems the concept of a white wedding dress is a fairly modern tradition started about the time of the victorians and it looks like it was started at the time of queen Victoria's wedding. First recorded one according to that last site was Queen of Scot, but it caught on with queen Victoria.

98y/o lady told me it was better to try a man out first.
she'd not had sex until her wedding night,
so had no idea what her hubby was like in bed.
she didn't have an orgasm until she was 50!

i'm not saying people who wait are wrong or dumb.
i'm just saying that waiting isn't right for everyone.

personally, i have rather specialist tastes in the bedroom.
can't be happy with a man who doesn't meet that dynamic.
...that and i never want to get married. ever. ever ever.
