Short of time this morning. I am going to my Patchwork Group at 10.30am.
Katla Belfast was a major target because of the shipyards and aircraft factory. My father worked in the shipyard as did many of my wider family. The pilots often missed their targets and the whole city and the surrounding countryside suffered. There were two bombed houses just 15 houses away from my Nana's house. We lived with Nana and Grandpa John until I was three. The local kids used the bomb sites as playgrounds.
My daughter moved to England for a while when she graduated. I thought that she would settle over there, which was difficult for me, but I had to accept that possibility. Then she met her husband over there, but he is from here so they moved back home and have settled about an hours drive away. It was must be hard to be so far apart.
Barbie Those are very wise words. We have to learn to,let them go while letting them know we are still there for them. I have copied them into my notes.
New day is here.
My mind is clear.
The winds have dropped.
The rain has stopped.
Tuesday awaits.
Appreciate!
What will you make of today?
I will be back later to catch up with y'all.

Just wanted to mention that I successfully downloaded my first audio book from our public library system and I feel so smart! Barbie has mentioned this many times in her posts so she was my inspiration. Thank you Barbie.
Allison - Hope your day gets better.
As for kids moving away, well that is the way the world turns these days. I don't mean to sound so nonchalant but it has been my experience. They move away for college, jobs, or for new experiences and to see and live in new places. My neice is teaching in Thiland and traveling to Vietnam and Guam on holiday. It's a worry and we all sure wish she was closer to home or even in the same country. She is 23 yrs old. My son is a freshman in college in North Carolina. DD wants to go to college in RI next year.
I suggest to Just let your DD know that you love and support her. I'm sure her mother-in-law will take good care of them all. Start with today and help her as you can. Look at your finances as Barbie mentioned to see if you can take the trip with her, and if not now maybe plan to visit after the baby - your grandchild, is born. Approach it from a place of love and if you can, put all the worry in Gods hands.
Have a great day ladies.

Good Morning!
Sleep well would have grab another hour of sleep but my sweet doggy Bella Jo decided different. So I am up at four but its ok sort of enjoying the quiet.
Today at work we are taking our clients on a tour of the Scentsy Headquarters in Idaho which I think they should enjoy. I know who my group is 3 very lovely individuals but one is a runner away person. If things over welm him he takes off plus there is a language barrier. No one in our company speaks he is gaining some but mostly its using gestures to get by with should be an interesting day. So my goal is to keep him calm.
Wishing everyone a good day.

With a houseful of cats, I cannot do traditional jigsaws, but I do one or more of these a day. Note that you can set the number of pieces on the puzzle you choose.
I like www.jigidi.com for online jigsaw puzzles!

Thanks for a the terrific advice. I'm doing my best to "put my big girl panties on." I'll talk to DD today & let her know what I"m thinking.0

Proud of you, Allie... and Katla... and Heather, thinking about your DH. I'm sorry his family is stressing him completely out. Hope it's better.
Ran this morning. October goal was to run regularly, and this is my second run this week.
Ran 3.77 miles, (7,450 steps)
Took me 58 min - so I slowed down a bit, but that's OK, not racing anyone...
Average heart rate 137 bpm (down from 140s, which makes me happy!)
Burned 511 cals
Later, my dears... reading a lot, but not writing too much right now. Nine more working days at the restaurant...

So glad you are feeling a bit more settled in your mind Katla. :flowerforyou: Of my four school friends, that I meet up with, one has a totally estranged child and grandchildren, plus a child and grandchild in Hong Kong, and one has an only child and three grandchildren out in Australia. They are both good at getting on planes by themselves. Never easy. I wish my son in Nottingham was nearer, but it is probably five hours door to door. I go on my own. It was lovely to see him at DGD's party.
This afternoon DH and I both wrote our rage out on paper - I filled four sides - and then burnt the pages out in the garden. Even if it doesn't help the anger, it was great fun. The last time I did it was in 1990 when I was on a personal development course. I wrote a letter to my father and burnt it in front of the assembly. We had to be careful not to set off the smoke alarms and sprinklers! ! !
The last conversation this morning he had with his sister they were able to tell each other they loved each other and she took on some of the blame. He also messaged the niece through Facebook, so I hope things improve.
Yes, I am worried about Sylvia and have been wondering for a while where Yanniejannie is.
Love to all, especially those with family problems! :ohwell:

Hi gang - lurk a lot but rarely post. You're all an inspiration!
I must be nuts: for some extra motivation, I just signed up for a virtual Ironman in November. It's for a fundraiser. Basically you do the equivalent of an Ironman triathlon, but you spread it out over a month (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run or walk). I can fit the swim and run/walk in easily, but I have to ramp up my biking over the next few weeks so I have the legs (and time) to do 112 miles. Wish me luck...

i would love to do something like that. actually, I think I will, once my shoulder is back to normal0 -

Happy Tuesday ! ! !
Pip – I take ½ Centrum Silver for Women and Calcium + D. My lab numbers all look good, but I also drank a LOT of milk as a kid and teen and into adulthood. The thing I have to watch is my iron level, because I am very regular, and too much extra iron causes me problems.
Katla – My heart breaks for you regarding your DD and her move to Illinois. When DH and DS and I moved to Milwaukee, my DD was 17 ½ and I really struggled allowing her to stay in Minnesota with her dad. He is a “hands-off helicopter” parent, watching her very closely, yet letting her get away with all kinds of bad behavior. It still breaks my heart to think about how much better her life could have been if she had moved here with me. Personally, if my DD would ask me to take a fun and constructive road trip anywhere, I would do everything in my power to make it happen, because YOLO. I know you will make the decision that is right for you and your family. I believe it will be highly unlikely that you would run into any winter weather in October (but it has been known to happen). // Oooh. Barbie gave outstanding advise !
Wessecg – Nice loss. I have the Dr. Phil “7 keys” book, but I’m scared that I can’t stay so structured, so I haven’t tried it yet. Hopefully soon. Congrats ! ! !
Janetr – Ha Ha ROFL. Happy Anniversary !
Cfoy1 / lizmil – Keep trying. You can do it. Take baby steps.
Joyce – I don’t put ketchup on anything. I don’t think we even any in the house. Now gravy, that’s a completely different story.
Sharon – Hooray for your better day !
Allison – Hugs. Standing up for yourself took a lot of self-confidence. I am proud of you, and hope it all gets better quickly. I hope you feel my-our support, regardless of which outcome happens for the 2 of you. Hugs ! ! !
Liz – good luck with your tour and group. The Scentsy factory sounds interesting.
I am so excited about Pandora today. I found the channel “Rocky Horror Picture Show”. I think that will be my new go-to channel for work-outs (at least until I get tired of it).
After 15+ years of marriage, and 18 years of knowing each other, DH still baffles me. Yesterday at suppertime he had a headache, so I asked him if he wanted a homemade taco for supper. He said "only 1?" I told him I was chopping up stuff to make tacos and warming up the meat, did he want any onions or tomato. He said "just a little" so that's what I left for him. When he got into the kitchen he said "where's the cheese?" I apologized that since I'm not having cheese on mine I forgot to get it out of the freezer, so he ignored everything related to tacos and put some pizza rolls in the oven. I guess it's really not a big deal, because it means I have left-over fixings for lunch, but I was unaware that he can't eat a taco without cheese. Men !
No news about the lion lately, but plenty about coyotes and 1 bear. Weird ?!?!?
Hugs for Everyone ! ! !

Good morning!!! I'm fine, just got knocked off the internet for a while. I use my phone for a hot spot and my carrier decided they didn't like that. I'm back up and running today, though.
Yesterday was busy. Took two dogs to the vet at the same time. Molly has a hole in her skin about the size of a dime. We don't know when it happened, but hubby blamed it on Spot. (Everything is Spot's fault.) The vet looked at it and said it is NOT a bite from another dog (letting Spot off the hook) and that she most likely ran into something while running. But it was old enough that he couldn't pull the edges together to staple it. It's on her side, just in front of her left haunch. It didn't bleed much at all. Whippets have such thin skin that there aren't many blood vessels I guess. (The only reason I noticed it at all was that Bruno kept sniffing at it.). He said he could put her under and fix it, or we could just let it heal on its own but it will make a scar. Of course, we don't mind a scar if it will keep her from having to go through that kind of trauma, so we left with antibiotics and instructions to clean it twice a day with peroxide.
Bruno just needed his shots, but he was determined not to get out of the car once he saw where we were. I tried to pull him out the drivers door, but he got away and ran all the way to the back of the van. I opened the hatch and he ran back to the front. This continued several times, till finally I got in the car and started the engine. I guess he figured I had given up, because he came up and happily licked my face. That's when I grabbed him. Hah! I can outsmart you, silly boy!
The kids were over to spend the day Sunday. That was fun. They didn't have school yesterday because of parent-teacher conferences, so my routine feels strange today. It's hard to remember that today is Tuesday.
Gotta get to work now. Have a great day!
Sylvia

@DamitJanit Its crazy expensive...you live your life saving quarters... We always go to the corner laundromat, even though we have W & D at our complex...they are not maintained and its a spider, and garbage, dirty floor place... anyway, the laundromat we go to is next to a mini-mart, so husband does it and buys a paper to pass the time. I attend my TOPS meeting. Its $2 for EACH load, but on Wednesdays the dryers are free. So its $6 to $8 bucks in quarters every week. Uuck! I am motivated to lose weight because of it though. If you are the biggest loser for the week you get quarters that members put in a container. Sooo I lose weight to wash clothes...makes no sense whatsoever... lol Actually I lose weight because it feels good!

Therefore, if in a drugged stupor, I told any one (DJ?) that today is my birthday, it is not. My birthday is November 5th. However, It IS my 6th wedding anniversary. I got beautiful red roses from the greatest husband ever, Jack. He has shown and given me love that I had began to believe did not really exist other than in the movies or fairytales.
Thank you all for the wonderful non-birthday wishes. I will look forward to them again next month. However, I do draw the line at adding two years on to my age in the space of one month. Ha!
Janetr OKC
Congrats Janetr and Jack! He sounds like a keeper I got a pink rose on Sunday, because my dear husband went to get a Sunday paper.. I love pretending I am asleep and hearing him find the vase (beer stein that is pretty) cutting the rose...(snnnnip) and then hearing the water as he fills the stein...then the crinkle of the plastic covering being stashed in the trash. Shhhh..... I then get up to him and a coy smile....It always makes me teary.
Yesterday he came in and I was commenting on a persons post about starting again after having an illness, the struggle of not being motivated etc...and he gave me a worried look. The person that had started the thread was a 33 male, but I totally understand the worried look my husband gave me. I need to earn his trust, and it will take time. I told him no more commenting on other posts but this one. I confessed that I didn't really pay attention to the male part of the thread, just was giving my thoughts on how I handled our illness etc. One step forward.....two steps back with his trust issues with me. I told him I hated that he had a worried moment, not my intention when I commented on the thread.
Well swimming this morning..then cleaning this afternoon
Be well all my ladies... ((((((((((((((((((((((group hugs)))))))))))))))

Hello again! I managed to read through the last four pages and made some notes.
Heather - I'm going to look for the White Road book you mentioned. I love to read that kind of stuff.
Sharon - My appointment with the specialist is November 10th.
CLEatMoulton, Sislee, Teresa (AZ), and crose0056 - Welcome! Tell us more about yourselves!
Joyce in SD - I'm not at my goal yet. I'm down 130 and have 30 left to go, but I think I've gotten a little too comfortable, so I've just been maintaining for the last 6 months. Since I started having tummy trouble. It's hard to know what to eat or not to eat.
LPN - Your virtual ironman sounds like fun.
Miriam - I used to love doing jigsaw puzzles on my ipad but was running out of space and had to delete them.
Wessecg - I didn't know the fitbit would count steps on horseback. That's funny.
Meg - I'm so sorry to hear that your knee went out. I hope it feels right again soon.
Sharon - I love the part about "I decided to be happy today". That's not easy to do sometimes.
Pip - your shoulder looks so much better!
Alison - I'll say it again. Tom is an *kitten* and doesn't deserve you. Stick to your guns.
I stopped at the store on my way to the studio and got stuck talking to a neighbor in the parking lot for about 45 minutes. She lives down the street from me and was telling me about their dog getting loose yesterday and running to our house. He must know that is the house where all the neighborhood dogs go for cookies. So I didn't get to work as early as I planned, thus that is my excuse for not getting anything done yet. I saw they had some miniature potted roses on sale for $3 so I bought myself a yellow one. It's so pretty. When we first moved into our house there was a miniature rose bush in the front flower bed. It lived for about 15 years and finally died. Maybe I'll put this one out there, once I've enjoyed it inside a little bit.
OK, so now I'm really going to get busy. First I have to make a to-do list, then I'll be off and running.
Have a great day!

Are you jeans made by the same manufacturer? Same sort of 'jean' material, etc. I have some 12's that I fit in (because they stretch once worn for an hour. My 14's fit when I just put them on; but, after wearing them for an hour they are hanging down on my hip bones. Finally, today at weigh-in; I dropped out of the 'obese' status into the 'over-weight' status. Also lost another 1.5lbs. I am ecstatic! I will continue until I run out of product; I am way, way ahead of the product if I had been using it exclusively. I sometimes eat something else, or we go 'out to eat' and I save the calories and only use one as a 'snack' to tide me over until supper-time. I only read what has been posted for the day I am in, so I know I miss a lot (probably good stuff) by doing so. I just have too much to do, it seems. I know what y'all are feeling when a child lives far away. Our DYS and DDnL and DSGD live right over the Mississippi River from Natchez, MS and it is a good, hard 9 hour drive each way. We only get to see them 2 or 3 times a year. DH and DOS go out there in December to hunt for a week. If and when DDnL has another baby (would be my son's 1st) . . . it is going to tear me apart not to be able to see it growing up or worse, holding. I've had several dreams of her having twins. LOL! So has my son; once he dreamed they had triplets and she told him that somebody would have to 'quit' their job; but, she loves hers and so does he. We can't move; but, her parents live in the same town - not sure either of them would be able to quit and help; but it is a 'pipe' dream and we are only hoping for a healthy baby. She took some sort of pill that was supposed to help her get pregnant; and it was making her hair fall out and she had to stop it. She's a cosmologist and said 'how would it look to her customers' if she had thin hair; she cut some bangs to help cover it. Some said he was going to be checked just to make sure that it isn't him that can't make a baby. I think he is doing this 'on his on' and not because she (maybe) wants him to. He treats her 9-year-old daughter that he treats her as if she was 'his' child. She loves him to pieces! He does things with her on the days he picks her up from school or takes her to dancing; like hunting for sheds, fishing, or just staying with he while she is at dancing lessons. Oooooh, her 'real' Daddy is quite jealous (but, he never says anything about it). He just joined a hunting club so he could take her hunting. When DDnL told him that they will be moving somewhere between where she lives and where DYS works, the 'step-mom' told her 'that really suxs and will be such a shame that you won't be able to see your mother except on weekends'. Mouths dropped to the floor. IF he takes her back to court, he might find that the 'shared' custody they have going now will be (on his part) every other weekend and Wednesdays and possibly his child support payments will double. It's such a shame that he uses this threat; because my DDnL supported her on a 'part-time' job. He also has to pay for anything she does outside of school and also buy any uniforms for anything done at school. DDnL agreed to that when he told her he was going to 'take her away' from her when she was going to school to become a cosmetologist. He sounds like a real D***Head. The Judge told him that he better not see him back in his courtroom with minor $#*T or he would change how things were done and he would be 'sorry about it'.0 -
Grits - major congrats on being overweight. :drinker: I remember that day well.

Becca – Hugs ! ! ! Just keep showing your love for him. Here’s a quip someone told me a few years ago: Say you have a nice piece of china, and you accidently drop it on the floor, and it breaks. You can glue it back together again, and it may be strong, but it will never be exactly the same as it was prior to being broken. Our love and trust is similar. We can feel love again, and learn to trust, but we have no control over how and when we will doubt that trust. All we can do is love unconditionally. More hugs for both of you ! ! !
Sylvia – Hugs ! ! ! I’m so glad you will be able to see a specialist. I hope you will be healed very quickly. // MY DH uses his phone as a HotSpot on occasion, and it can get crabby !
It was so relaxing during lunch to have my salad prepared in advance. I had last night's taco left-overs, but without meat. Yum. And it meant I could ride the bike for 10 minutes and finish eating my pear, too. Double yum !
Hugs to Everyone ! ! !

One more thing I wanted to tell you. I found a really easy recipe on facebook and tried it last night. Even Hubby liked it.
Boneless Skinless chicken breasts
Basil Pesto sauce
Sliced tomatoes
Mozzarella cheese
Put the chicken in baking dish. Spoon on Pesto sauce. Place tomato slices over the top. Cover with mozzarella cheese. Bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Oh, my goodness, it was delicious. I've never tried basil pesto sauce before, and searched the stores to find the one with the lowest salt content. (Also had to check for warnings about anchovy contamination, since I have an allergy to fish.) Also, I used chicken with no salt solution added and used low fat cheese. Now that I've tried it and like it, I intend to make my own pesto sauce with no salt added. I made three breasts last night, one for him without tomatoes, one for my dinner and one for another meal later in the week. You could easily add mushrooms if you wanted.0 -
Elaine in Lansing. I did a puzzle on the site you use. I think I prefer the one I use but it is nice to have a backup site. I really enjoy brightly colored puzzles and some days they are all dull so I don't have one to do!
Sylvia, good to have you back! Even a few days are too many for you to be missing due to connection issues!0 -
Grits - Congrats on dropping out of obese into overweight. I look forward to that day.
I hope your DS is keeping notes. When my ex tried for 100% custody no visitation I had just finished with cosmetology school and was working in a salon. The judge laughed out loud at the attorney ("working in an upper-end Salon until 8:00pm twice a week is not a legitimate reason to severe parental rights"). It's crazy how some people feel it is okay to traumatize their own children just because they are having a tough time with an ex. I will keep that precious girl in my prayers. In the end, she will realize who loved her with whole heart, not contempt. Hugs ! ! !0
