Three different people have called me "tiny" recently. "Wow you are so tiny!" This totally baffles me because I am still overweight. Granted compared to how huge I was before I can see how people would think that. It's funny to me though because that is something I've never heard in my entire life. I'll take it though!

I had an aunt I hadn't seen in over a year tell me that she didn't want to have lunch with me "because you're so fit that you won't let me eat any of the bad foods that I like". I just laughed and offered to show her my food diary, which has beer, chips, cookies, ice cream and other random 'bad' (ha) food in it... and we had a lovely lunch.

So, you think I'm lying or something?
Or my MIL, "you need to just stop losing weight and stay right there"
Thanks, but I'm still overweight and I have a goal.
    My personal favorite
"I heard you lost a lot of weight! You must have really watched your carbs!"
Yeah, I watched them all go in my mouth. They were delicious.

ha ha ha why does everyone hate on carbs so much? It's like women are born programmed to say stop eating carbs, they're enemy and you need to reduce the amount you eat or never eat them at all . . . drives me crazy!

I had someone ask me "are you going to keep it off or gain weight back and lose again". Couldn't quite figure that one out?! LOL I said I was going to do my best to keep it off!

Another one I get from older women (I'm 24 - So I do not mean that in an offensive way, I just work with women that range from about 40-50, I'm the youngest!) "It's EASY for you - you're so young! It's harder at my age".

Way to discredit my hard work!!

No one under 30 is overweight. It's so easy to lose weight under 30 that it never happens.

When I first started it was "so you're just going to weigh your food for a period of time and then stop when you are used to portion sizes, right?". I don't really get why they care, it doesn't affect them at all.

Yesterday I got the "are you sick?" concern/comment. I'm almost 5'3" and 153 lbs. No, I'm not thin enough to look sick.

"I bet you're sad you lost all that weight now. You have no *kitten* or boobs. Your poor husband! And he's so skinny, must be like rubbing two sticks together. Y'all are gonna catch on fire when you do it."

True story, took everything I had not to punch that c**t in the face.

My step-bro and SIL, who sell fitsticks, asking me what program I used. "None, I just watched my calories. I still drink and eat ice cream, so it's awesome! No program, no money spent!!"

My mom, who has been trying and failing to lose weight for LITERALLY 15 years now, is constantly throwing this one at me. I tried, very sensitively, to get her to do what I'm doing and she totally blew me off "Oh it doesn't work like that for me, I don't have time to count calories, etc etc" and yet she is constantly doing "cleanses" and spending a bunch of money on new fitness classes that kick her butt so hard she can barely walk (she's 53). And whenever I tell her "But mom, I've lost 14 lbs ALREADY and I've really put in minimal effort compared to you." She acts like it's just no big deal at all and she makes me feel like my efforts, however small they are in comparison to hers (It's been effort for me, and probably for the average person, just cause I didn't sign up for boot camp....), don't matter at all. Like, I realize people are different, but CICO is the same no matter your age unless you have special conditions, and she doesn't.

I just want to scream at her through her excuses "Don't you get it??? YOU'RE the reason I thought there was no hope all these years! Your constant "trying" and failing made me believe that if you couldn't do it with all the work you APPEARED to be putting in, that of course I could never do it! And now you can't even be happy for me that I can do it after all?! Really?"

Same as a lot of you....a customer asked if I was sick, my MIL and Hubby's grandma said I was losing too much I had "nothing" anymore. Whatever "nothing" means....smaller booty and boobs I guess. And I had only lost about 25 pounds. Gained it back but now am down another 8 pounds since re-starting

To all you youngsters out there, younger than my 53 years, it is not harder at my age, it was most difficult in my 30's. I don't have to worry about cooking for my kids, who is going to watch them when I work out, I am way less stressed now than when they were young. So tell those ladies older than you the truth. Weight loss has challenges at every age, they may be different challenges, but it always requires a will to change and dedication to your goals.

Keep a close eye on this one, she's after your husband!

This reminds me of a story...we had a customer (family business) who actually asked our daughter on the phone, "So, do your parents have a good telationship?"

My husband had been at her house the week before, working on her car in the driveway. She got warm (aparently!) and pulled off her sweatshirt and her tee shirt "accidentally" came off with it, with nothing underneath!

Our daughter started laughing hysterically when she asked about our relationship (because she knew what had happened the week before) and hung up the phone on the bi--ch!

No for real though, a FUNNY one. My buddy, who is the most beautiful female I think I've ever seen in real life and not a magazine, asked me "But what are you gonna do if you lose your breasts??" with the most genuine concern in her tone.

What am I gonna do? I'm gonna.... keep living? Um... last I checked having breasts was a non-essential building block of life.... It just struck me as funny because she seemed so genuinely worried for my boobs, like if they shrunk she'd be visiting me in an ICU or something!

When I first lost my weight I got pulled aside by a few different people, and asked very seriously if I were sick. Apparently Mrs Jruzer also had people asking her the same thing about me.

I have heard a few, like "When you turn sideways you disappear." But the thing that strikes me the most now is when I hear how I am so "lucky" to be thin. Yeah, an hour or more of cardio daily and meticulously tracking my food intake isn't doing it - it's really just dumb luck.

Sitting on the couch with my boyfriend, he had his hand on my arm as we were watching tv...and out of nowhere he looks at me and says "you have nice triceps."

Cracked me up. Favorite compliment ever.

    Preach Sista..... <3 this post.

I started in my late 40's, lost the extra 168 lbs I was lugging around and got in the best physical shape of my entire life at the same time.

Now at 53 been maintaining that loss for nigh on 3 years with very different circumstances in relation to exercise due to health reasons....so if I can do it anyone can. I was also told that without continuing to keep up with said exercise routine I would gain it all back....I thought to myself bugger that idea....so now I do what I can achieve and still keep up with the calorie counting and haven't gained anything back that I didn't plan to or expect to happen because of....well life.

I got "told" frequently and by varied people, friends, acquaintances and Dr's that being menopausal, fat and 40 to basically give up all hope of EVER losing the weight....I proved them ALL wrong. Everyone out there of a certain age don't let the naysayers right you off before you even start.

Best wishes and congrats to everyone on this post.

"Really?! You've lost that much? And you still want to lose how much? There is no way you have to lose that much."

Yes, I have lost that much. And yes I still want/need to lose 130 to be at a healthy weight.
I think a lot of people (maybe just the US, who knows) have a skewed perception of what people weigh.
