Gayle - this is the apartment :D

Otherwise just go to Trip Advisor Montpellier vacation rentals and it is Place Canourge Luxury Apartment in a 17th century building.
I negotiated a deal with the owner as we are staying for two weeks. We are paying £100 a night. It sleeps four in comfort.
I think we got a great deal. ✌

Oops lost some of my post and pics. The first one is me with a man with golden pecs! The second one our apartment. We are two floors above the wine shop. :D

Off to the Christmas market this pm.

Wow! I was shocked that it has been three years since I have been on MFP. I am now 61 and the weight isn't coming off very easily. :( A friend said I need to exercise twice as much the older I get. Well, easier said than done. I started a liquid diet this past Monday as a way to jump start my dieting. So far, so good. I would love to get on the south side of 200 and about 20 lbs. more. This group was always an encouragement, I'm glad to be back!

Joyce, the girls have always called me Mimi, and will probably continue. That was my childhood nickname and my sister, their grandmother, still calls me that. Over the years, I have told little kids to call me that since their tongues cannot get around Miriam very easily.

Good morning everyone! The sun is shining today for a change. Well, the big birthday is finally over. The little guy is officially 7 years old. It was really funny yesterday that every few minutes he would say "isn't somebody going to say happy birthday to me?" This morning he told me very seriously that yesterday was his birthday. Like I wasn't there? Funny little guy.

Today I'm going to be a whirlwind in the studio, clearing out a nice space for my new friend Kurt to put his wheel and other tools. I have a big chalkboard on one wall that I want to take down and move to the "classroom" area instead, leaving more wall space there for shelves and things like that. And I have GOT to thin out my junk. There is quite a collection of stuff back there. Potters tend to be packrats anyway, and I may be worse than most.

Tomorrow the oldest has a choir recital at 10:30, then we are going to the lake. On Sunday at 1:00 is the little guy's pool party, so we will have to come home early for that. All I have to do for that is pick up cupcakes and buy some ice cream. I decided not to go nuts over it, because they will all be busy swimming anyway. I sure hope some kids show up.

Well, I have to get busy. Have a great day!

    Happy Friday ! ! !

Rori – Hugs and Prayers for DH’s surgery, and your need to find the caregiver in you ! ! !

    Michele
    – you wouldn’t believe how many people are inconsistent at bowling; that’s normal. I’m impressed with your 130, because the highest I EVER got was 101. The point is exercise and have fun.

Doobiedoo – My next mini-goal is Onederland, too. I’m sure we can both do this. Keep in touch here ! ! !

    Miriam - I like the name Mimi. Congrats ! ! !

Alright ladies, I bought 2 tickets last night from the grocery store where I won the TV.
    Our Powerball numbers for 12/05/2015 : 9 - 20 - 47 - 58 - 59 Powerball # 21.
    Our MegaMillions numbers for 12/04/2015 : 26 - 40 - 43 - 45 - 64 Mega # 12.

Last night before the show I took my Dad to the Casino's Italian restaurant. I had grilled chicken carbonara, then we shared a dessert canoli. I savored every single bite. The show was funny. It was a man pretending to be a woman who does a local TV show with the demographic primarily "housewives". He/she had us laughing a LOT. And she had some audience participation. Afterwards, we played our "free money". I was magically able to turn $20 into almost $7 total ! ! ! :D Today, back on the healthy food wagon. No more white carbs, lots of veggies and fruit and yogurt. Yum ! ! !

    Hugs for Everyone ! ! !

Morning, friends, I took the dreaded lipid panel again and am not sure what the doc will make of it.
Total chol is up 5--not good
LDL is down 11 back into high not very high category
HDL is up 4 -- good I guess
Triglycerides shot way up, probably due to the idiocy of having this test right after Thanksgiving and DH birthday and eating other people's foods (who knows what went into them?) Usually this is not a problem at all. Note to self -- never have this test around the holidays!
So I am not worried about the HDL or the triglycerides but sure wish that LDL would budge more. I feel like my life is being run by my blood results at this point.

Whatever, I am not giving in -- want to get skinny like so many of you nice ladies! So I will focus on eating right and exercising even more. I wish I could come up with an exercise I can do every day that I like that I can do in bad weather. The only feeling that elliptical gives me is a sense of accomplishment. Just not enjoyable. I have done it in the quiet area without the TV and with the seven screen louder room, and honestly the TV makes the time go faster but I am angrier with the experience overall because it is all bad TV news all the time.

Plain walking does not make that LDL budge; only that intense moving like with the machine. Bicycling would do it but I am averse to riding through snowdrifts. I am bad at running and was even as a child. Zumba looks like fun but at my Y the music level is unbearably loud. Are there any other high intensity exercises that any of you absolutely love?

Rori - the remnants from your pity party have been swept away. Dump it all here if you need to in order to do what needs doing. Being a caregiver is not always easy even for those who are natural caregivers. Give yourself some credit for stepping up. Give yourself some breathing space so that you can continue to step up as needed.

Lisa - I'm married to a person who finds it difficult to share the emotional stuff. I love long car rides with him because he somehow finds it easier to share when he knows I am looking at the road (I'm the family driver) and not straight at him. Thus, over the years I have come to appreciate car trips. I suspect you don't love car trips for the same reason as I do, but I'm sending you wishes to enjoy the alone time you get to have with your DH.

Joyce, Indiana - I recently found Hanukkah gifts for the nephews on HearthSong's website. They have some really fun things under the Science and Nature category. When I was 9 I would have loved the 6-in-1 Solar Kit. Heck, I've been thinking about getting one for myself at my current ripe old age.

Betty...I hate exercising too but have come up with a way to make it bearable. I find destraction to be the key. I find something to watch which will get my mind off the time or the task at hand. I watch Netflix and choose series that keep me interested and only allow myself to watch them when I am exercising (as an incentive). If you don't have any of those streaming options, or can't DVR favorite shows, and find nothing on live TV when you have to exercise, perhaps you can go to the library and rent DVD's to play while you exercise. Many people find music a destraction, or listening to books or podcasts. Have you considered a rowing machine? I hope you find a formula that works for you because then it will make the process that much easier/tolerable.

Rori...sending healing thoughts to your husband and strength to you.

Off the NJ in the morning to see my mother.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Rori, I am with you on the caregiver role...my husband has had many illnesses and surgeries and he wants constant attention. He has appointments with two specialists in the next six weeks about back related issues and he thinks one or both could require surgical solutions. I dread having to take care of him so I have to stay in the moment to not get crazy. Probably staying in the moment is the only way to get through this stuff.

Betty, have you tried listening to podcasts, music, or audio books while you labor on the elliptical.....I don't watch broadcast TV because of the news and constant advertising to buy something new....we have a DVR so when I watch TV, it is a show that I've recorded by choice and I fast forward through the commercials....I go to line dance classes where the music isn't too loud and learning the dances is good food for the brain.

I see my doctor this afternoon. Yes, I'm stressed, but trying to stay in the moment. Jake tries to be reassuring and he'll go to the appointment with me to make sure that all the right questions get asked. The pain in my legs is controlled only by meds and the tingling is very troubling. This is not something that's just going to go away on its own. Hearing how all of you have walked through health crises has been very helpful to me. If you can do it, so can I.

Good wishes to Barbie, Rori, Mindy, Pip, and any other lovely person I've forgotten. Love you all. <3

Today we went to the Christmas market. :D I had 3 oysters, a mulled wine, one marron glace, and one small chocolate truffle. DH bought his elder daughter a beautiful Laguiole penknife. Gorgeous. Made of olive wood with the signature bee on the shaft. The maker engraved her name on the blade. She is a very DIY person so a perfect present.

I have walked for 4 hours today, but need to do some more tonight in order to eat this evening. Last night we went out at 9.45 pm for an extra stroll, which really helped with the calories. Boy, were my hips hurting by the end! ! It feels really safe around here with people out on the streets and in the cafés until late.

    Posting the Christmas market.

Lisa: Enjoy the time with your DH as you travel to see grandbabies, DD and DSIL. :flowerforyou:

Rori: The caregiver role is a tough one. I hope your DH is back to good health ASAP & your turn at caregiving ends soon.

It is time to get ready for yoga, and I look forward to it. DH is mad at me for some reason this morning, and it doesn't make sense. I was playing a link that a friend sent me, and it was noisy. I couldn't get the noise shut down quickly enough and he blew up over it. He isn't usually so volatile and I'm worried about him. I need to make sure his blood sugar is okay before I leave for the gym.

    Have a good day, everyone.

Heather - it sounds like you are having a great time! The Christmas market looks like a fun place to go. Just curious, what is the temperature there?

Barbie - I hope your appointment goes well and the Dr knows the right treatment. My DH was experiencing pain from his heel up his leg. He went to a reflexologist 2 times in the last 3 weeks and now has no pain. He chose that option because he remembers when his uncle was crippled from pain and had to be carried out on a stretcher to the car. They took him to the reflexologist and he walked out of there on his own. That was over 40 years ago. They do it by massaging your feet! I would strongly suggest this option. $45 out of pocket was worth it for DH was starting to not be able to walk! He told him that his hips were crooked, and his Achilles' tendon was so tight it was ready to snap. Told him to do some stretches and sit differently in the car. He went back 1 more time and now has no pain.

Heather - I looked up Laguiole knives. Those are some really pretty knives. I think it is a very thoughtful gift. The market looked wonderful. So festive. That picture temporarily put me into a holiday mood.

Mary - How wonderful that your DH was able to find relief so quickly.
