Hey guys! I'm back in - got a garmin vivoactive watch for Xmas and just need to get going. Good luck0

I'm starting again, and glad to join this supportive group. Husband gave me a fitbit but I'm not in love with it, so will use an app on my Iphone. Hope to walk everyday or at least 4 times a day. My goal is 30 minutes and that may be broken up. How do I motivate my self in a season where it is still dark out side and wet and cold? We can do this!0

I am in. Thanks.0

This is continued from previous Monthly Walking Challenges, just starting off with a new year *YAY*. Each month has its own thread.
*** Anyone can join in at any time. The more the merrier, let’s keep each other motivated****
Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you cannot track distance (or do not want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you will be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise you are getting in.
Come back here and just post how far you walked, even if it was to the mailbox on a given day. The important thing is that you are moving and getting out (or if you walked in place in your basement to a video). Sometimes we need a little encouragement in order to do things in life.
Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise every day, and keep an eye on each other. Remember, you can track by steps, distance (miles kilometers), time, etc.
RULES:
*no bullying
*no pressure
*just walking, dancing, stepping, snow shoeing if you like, hiking, anything to get you moving.
*just lace up the shoes and take a walk!
I'm in - Sounds like a good way of getting active again after the Christmas break0 -

Checking in for today - 3.06 miles in 1 hour 1 minute. Much better walk than yesterday's, despite it being just as cold and the terrain being much hillier than it was yesterday. Dressing appropriately is definitely the trick!0

Check ins so far
2/1/16 - 13759
3/1/16 - 12725
Will aim for daily posts all hopefully over 12000 steps.
Good luck for you in the cold. Much easier to head outside for a walk in Australian summer.0 -
Love this! Getting back into exercising slowly after a long history of knee injuries. Very excited.0
-
4 miles, 1 hour 5 min. Last mile uphill-feeling great!0

Checking in for today!
1/1/15 - not much (4321 total steps for the day)
1/2/15 - 40 minute walk with the dogs (6786 total steps for the day)
1/3/15 - 4 hours at the Zoo (9590 total steps for the day)
We spent 4 hours at the Zoo today and it was chilly, but they have enough indoor stuff to keep you from getting too cold. We found we actually like it when it's winter time, because not many people go out in this kind of weather.

Hello Hope you don't mind me joining late. I need to get my steps up after a knee injury so starting slow and just want to work up to a decent amount per day. Using a Fitbit. Goal is at least 6,000 and 10,000+ on days I don't do other exercise.
1/1: 4249
1/2: 4888
1/3 not much yet but the day is not over and I have been resting today with a bit of congestion0 -

I'm in. I have a 12 week old baby, so walking is how I'm getting back into exercise slowly. I've started wearing my Garmin Vivofit again, so my aim is to reach my steps goal every day0
-
01/01/2016 - walked 1.88 miles - 40 mins
01/02/2016 - walked 2.2 miles - 45 mins
01/03/2016 - walked 2.2 miles - 45 min
Repeat of yesterday. I got a FitBit today though and set it up this afternoon, so starting tomorrow I'll be tracking daily steps and my walks!0 -
My check in for today. Below my calorie limit and at 3K steps for the day even though I battled with weakness and fatigue. I also met my protein goal for the day! My first official weigh in was today too and I am now down 2 pounds from a week ago.0
-
Throughout my day today I managed to get in my 3 miles and nearly 7,000 steps, which is great compared to my usual day. I sit at a desk all day typing, so there's not a lot of opportunity for walking around. My main goal is to simply increase that any way I can.0
