    Thanks guys! @DopeItUp @McCloud33

Been havin a very lazy recovery week, and next week has been assigned as a recovery week as well. Although I do get to squat 95kg for triples. Slowly but surely working my way back.
  • Thanks @McCloud33 I appreciate it!

@DopeItUp - oops. Easily hit 75/165 on my opener. Got 80/176 for the second.

@JoRocka - thanks! It definitely was a crazy last month of training

Nice job. Was this your first nationals? It looks like Rhaea and Ryan ran a great meet. I really like the addition of the commentary on the live stream.

@juliewatkin Yes. First nationals. And there is zero doubt that the Stinns and Fowlers run a fantastic meet. Everything was just awesome, from a smooth fast weighin on.

It's a good thing you got in this year. Starting next year anyone who hasn't yet competed at nationals will be required to first compete at a regional championship.

Actually planning on westerns this year as my getting back into full power. I'm looking forward to it, and don't even need to be fully reloaded to get my nationals total. Kamloops should be awesome!

This is my favorite thread ever! All of you guys are badass!

Here are some of my recent lifts... I am about to turn 46 and have been lifting with the barbell a little over 2 years. All of these lifts at BW around 185.

    Squat (Highish bar) 280 * 5

    BP 240 * 6

    Sumo DL PR 465 * 1

My best lift so far has been on bench. Got 400 here touch and go. My best meet bench is around 385. My squat and deadlift is only around 500 but ive only been seriously training those lifts since last year.

No vids for me but a little under a year ago back squat 315, bench 275, and dl 425. I somehow lost my way and just got back at it last week. 3x6x135 back squats and I could barely walk for two days.....looking forward to posting some vids in this thread down the road. Props to all of you, some big *kitten* lifts in here.

LOL, I just realized I'm obviously trying to be like Matt with our profile pictures. It kinda makes me wish there was a professional photographer at my meet. @nakedraygun

Sick for two reasons on these two lifts from this weekend:

Hate I didn't jump more for my final attempt on DL because this came up pretty easy. This is 490lbs (222.5kg)

This was a failed lift because I racked immediately after the lift. Third attempt, 484lbs (220kg)

Learned a lot this weekend. Had a lot of fun. Left some pounds on the floor, but that's okay. I'll be back.

ETA: I just realized the same song was playing for both lifts. Cool, I guess.

Pretty awesome Chris! You looked strong in both lifts. Next time you'll be more dialed into the commands.

@Iron_Miss_Canada That 80kg was smooth as silk! Lovely lift!

@nakedraygun Bench is looking good mate. Glad you went back to your old form again?

@Jefffit70 - Some great lifts there mate. You make that squat look easy!

@_incogNEATo_ bummer about missing that rerack command - you slayed that lift!

Some great stuff in the last two pages. Hope it keeps on coming! This thread should never be allowed to die...

This week finally marks the point where I can stash that #rehab bullsh!t and genuinely claim a PR that is a PR both pre, during and post-injury:

It's not in the league of the overhead numbers that some guys have put up earlier in the thread, but this was a long-time goal/landmark for me that had to be postponed a long time, so eff it:

    A 75kg/165lb Push Press (@70Kg/154lb bodyweight)

Forgive the 70's Euro-porn music in the background and my obscene grunting....

I happened to have REALLY enjoyed the grunting along with the music. Great lift and glad you're able to continue setting PRs post-injury.

Also, thanks to @nakedraygun, @jimmmer, @ovidnine, and @JeffFit70 for the compliments!

Nicely done @jimmmer ! I don't belt up pressing, do you find that it helps you press more, or is it more of confidence/safety thing with your back?

Absolutely. My confidence is high. Looking for a 315b/143kg paused this year.. hopefully before the end of June. (It would be a 10+ platform PR.)

Arg, I'll throw this up - from Saturday.

I was -2 reps off goal, but coming off a two month taper and two meets, I guess I should be happy. Prior to this time period I had pulled 440 for 5 reps. in my last deadlift session leading up to.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR1Bz3xP8AY

    425lb/192.75kg deadlift x 6.

Color me: impressed! Nice pulls, Matt! I've noticed wrist wraps when you pull. Explain, please! I've never tried it.

The wrist straps? Mostly because I like the support around my wrist and the compression. I don't tighten the crap out of them like some product instructional advise you too, because I like a little flexion in my wrists.

I've worn sweatbands like this about forever in the gym....

    black_wristband_sweatband_terry_for_men.jpg

But made the switch as the weight went up for more support.

Wrist wraps are supposed to aid in your grip, but I've not known this to be the case.

This was why I asked. I've noticed, for bench press anyways, that the wrist straps actually loosen ability to grip as tightly after a few seconds of wearing them. I've never tried loosening them for deadlifts, but that compression probably would be beneficial. May give it a try, thanks.

    @LolBroScience Thanks man!
