If you have a thick skin and no expectations, this can be a really fun place, just don't be surprised if your online BFF suddenly disappears. Don't get attached and you'll be fine
There are some genuinely amazing, funny, cool
people here but much like in real life you have to weed through the bs to get to the good ones.
P.S. I still don't kik...or flirt with married men. Kthanksbye.
I'm not married yet, she's just my fiance....how you doin!?1 -
There's a lot of straight men5

That this post is bringing me down...and there's at least 347 things to do with peanut butter and/or yogurt0

So much truth in this thread
Basically this:this place is full to the brim of folks needing validation and attention
And this:GreenGoddess22 wrote: »People get within their little circles and unleash at times. It's slightly concerning that adults behave this way.
And everything @jenjencin78 says bc I think she is my spirit animal

I think the forums can be a great source of fun and a good outlet. I think when people go into it expecting love or something along those lines, they're setting themselves up for disappointment. I've met some great people through the forums and been given encouragement and support when I didn't even realize I needed it. I just think people need to manage their expectations and take it for what it is. Expectation is the root of all disappointment in life.4 -
^That
And don't be a bully *kitten* to others.6 -
As far as the "Chit Chat Fun & Games" Forums go I'm just here to laugh my Azz off which I do often! I'm an insomniac and it keeps me entertained through my many Sleepless nights! The flirting on here is just fun and anyone who takes it too serious needs to step back and remember that this is the internet and some (Not All) people are not as they represent themselves to be!
As far as the site itself, For these past three years has helped me tremendously in keeping track and taking responsibility for my exercise and food habits.
As far as The Friends lists, BONUS!!! I have met so many awesome people that I am so proud to call my friends! They are supportive and definitely lift me up and are an inspiration!
I'm not ashamed to say that I am addicted to this site, but its better than some other addictions that I can think of!13 -

I came here for love.3 -
1. The forums are fun but post hogs (men and women) are extremely annoying and sad
2. Women aren't the only ones who get stalked. Truth. 1st hand knowledge.
3. I agree about the post that comments on the folks that acquire numerous friends. I had 100 friends on here and it is impossible to keep up with and truly support that many friends. MFP has turned into the new Facebook for some. How can someone have 100+ friends and truly be supportive? I would say impossible. MFP is not all about support to most. Since I shredded my friend list to under 20 folks, I have been happier for it. The friends I did keep I know truly have my best interests at heart and are supportive to no end which is how MFP was intended
4. MFP can be a dangerous thing...........Most folks on here have been overweight / fat / obese for most or all of their entire lives. When someone loses a tremendous amount of weight, takes control of their weaknesses and starts to experience success it will definitely affect who they are and who they will be in the future. They start to get attention (on MFP and real life) they never received before. People start flirting with them, complimenting them. This might have NEVER happened to some of the folks on here before. We all have either had friends or seen folks on here that have lost 100 pounds or more and have a new found confidence which is what MFP should be all about but these same folks will flirt, PM, dominate the forums and possibly kik to receive that attention they never felt worthy of and to obtain confirmation that they are indeed desirable. It's great that they have a new lease on life but it's also sad in a way.10 -
Never use the forums after 12 am. My goodness all the random, weird messaging. I never get those during the day lol3

I've noticed the same people posting over and over and I just can't help but wonder if they have nothing else to do. Sure the forums are fun, but when you've only been here for a few short weeks or months and you have posted 20k times, it may be time to step away.
AMEN, say it again Sister. God, that couldn't be more true.............it is sad.

Everyone is different, what I see in someone is likely different that what another sees. I'm here a lot, I read a lot of this forum. Mostly while at work, which I am right now. Does that mean I have no life or looking to KIK someone? I have some I'd call true friends, whether here or real life, simply put, the distance between us will likely prevent any real life meeting. If you weren't looking for interactions, then the fun n games isn't for you. If you can't deal with the things in this forum, don't open the door just to complain about what's going on inside.11

Well said T ..^^the reasons for people being on here are many and varied ..6

i learned to always do a search of the forums before starting a new thread. as it turns out i may not be the first person to ever hit a plateau, have TOM bloating or wonder what the best activity tracker is. i've also gained kind of a sixth sense about which threads are going to go nuclear. and, of course, gifs.3

I learned not to skip over people because it's quite rude to treat folks as if they're invisible.13
