    Good Afternoon!

Although it's grey and yucky out, the temps are down so the a/c was off all night (just ran a fan) and the same today.

Bro and SIL gave me a check for $200 for my birthday next week...and the SIL got me some locally made skin care products…my brother said the shea butter is one of her favorites so will testing that out soon.

So my Endo told me to stop my daytime insulin and double up on the metformin. I was skeptical, but it seems to be working. Granted my blood sugar numbers aren't quite as low as they would be with insulin but they are still in the acceptable range. Although my Endo knows my insurance will no longer cover CGM'S unless I am on insulin, she said we would take it slow. I can still take my nighttime insulin.

Breakfast was sausage and eggs with a slice of banana nut bread for dessert. No lunch today. Dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs.

The no snacking after 8 rule is still holding. Its not always easy, but I still can have a diet soda or iced tea.

    Have a good afternoon!

    Sandy

    Good Evening!

Lana, lazy Sunday all around. 🙂

I felt lousy this morning. I slept well, so I was confused. Forced myself to eat a granola bar and have some OJ to take my pills. Then I brewed up an oversized mug of Earl Grey with lemon and filled my water bottle. I feel fine now....maybe I was dehydrated? But the weather isn't helping and it's going to continue for the next few days. Only upside is not having to run the a/c.

    Till tomorrow...

    Good evening,

I knew it had been awhile, but I am so sorry.

Long story short, took walk ran into flower very allergic to and spent last 2 or more weeks dealing with asthma/allergies. It is now a cough. Seems Dragon thinks I can be supreme athlete when I have asthma,,,, compassion of zero.

Food it doing okay as I am eating and hungry again. Junk food it talking very loud.

My weekend plans got waylaid by sleeping. It will be a warm to hot week this week so I will try and get my steps in early. I actually drove to work for the last 2 weeks (it is a short walk normally). I will be walking again tomorrow.

    Hope everyone is well

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good morning all~~

Sara - Thank heavens you are alright. So sorry to hear about the awful allergy attack and long time of recuperation. We were very worried. I feared that you might have been kidnapped by Mario. The Cabana Boys couldn't find you anywhere!! 🌴 whew~

Waves to Maureen and Sandy and Missy and everyone else who stops by today.

Time to get out there and get some exercise ~

    Howdy, All!

Sara....geez! Glad you are doing better! We were all wondering....

Maureen, the Georgia trip sounds like it turned out great! Enjoy!

    Lana....hey! 🙋‍♀️

And you other ladies....give a shout!

This weather is a real downer! More grey skies and rain for 2 more days. Then its going to be summer....hot and humid. But at least then I can go swimming.

Had my big meal for lunch. Blood sugar is still in acceptable parameters without the insulin. I am pretty happy about that....the metformin is doing its thing.

I forgot to change the banking info on my renters insurance and it got canceled. Called and got that taken care of so I don't have to think about it anymore.

I was watching My 600 lb Life and it reminds me that everyone who has a weight loss journey has struggles whether they are 600 pounds or 200 pounds or anything in between. The thing is to understand why you are overweight and work on not only the healthy eating but the healthy outlook as well. It's not easy no matter how much weight you have to lose. But it can be done....WILL be done.

    Till next time...

    Good evening,

Seems I have run out of cough drops - I had 2 bags -I know I used them but that was fast (2 weeks - think brain fog). am waiting for them to be delivered. Healthy things in this delivery.

Walked to and from work for the first time since Memorial Day weekend. Got 6k and yes I did take a nap….

Lana - Mario is entertaining women in South America somewhere - at least I hope so. Cabana boys are in need of a make over and boot camp. Lets start cranking up the music and make them work for it.

Shining some light on having healthier snacks.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Hi! It's Taco Tuesday!

    But I didn't have tacos....I got a turkey club salad....and a brownie...from Saladworks. Yeah, I know....but its my birthday so I figure I deserve it.

My sugar is understandably up, but I have to take the metformin WITH a meal, not before so it doesn't upset my stomach. Sugar should start to go down soon.

Need to straighten up around here...

hey, all. Sara, I was so worried! I'm so sorry you were so unwell. My lungs are STILL slightly inflamed after a year on special inhaler—but better by a lot. Allergies are so serious sometimes; I had no idea until the last couple years. I am really glad you are back with us.

I have had a lot of walking here in Georgia. We had to abandon the Lake house yesterday and are all at my sister's house—which is accommodating 10 people remarkably well! I've walked 3-4 miles daily yesterday and today, even Sunday when I thought I hadn't walked but about half a mile. I'm not logging today except to "guesstimate," but I'm also not eating everything in sight.

Everyone else went to pay trivia tonight, but my knee hurt after all my walking this am and a 2 hour visit to the Coca-Cola Museum in Atlanta (not a great museum, but fun with kids). I don't think I have been upright that many hours in a row since surgery. So I'm home alone, elevating and icing. This introvert is glad of the excuse.

    TTFN.

Now I see that this is the reason that all of the Cabana Boys are all spiffied up for dinner time!

There will be musical festivities to celebrate you at The Cabana Club.

    Good Morning....after midnight

Lana, thank you! I appreciate the festivities! And Sara has great rhythm! 😉

So I reached the weekly goal…YAY!

But tonight, the SO took me out for my birthday dinner. It was mostly protein...lobster tail and filet....and a salad. One drink....a Hibiscus Sangria. And a heavenly chocolate concoction for dessert. But no matter what the scale says tomorrow, I am not concerned. It was a meal like I haven't had in years.

Will check in when I wake up. Goodnight...

Happy Birthday, Sandy. Great meal to celebrate!

    And happy Juneteenth, everyone.

Lana, we had plumbing issues. We've been fine at my sister's house, even stuffed in like sardines. It's easier since it's family, I think. No one is being too polite or too rude. Me, sis, two female cousins our ages; 2 men married to 2 of the women; and 3 teen grandkids of one cousin. Lots of laughter and a very relaxed "do as you please" atmosphere. No one is forced to participate, and everyone joins in at some point.

I haven't eaten great, but also not horribly. Lots of daily walks and then walking in museums or shopping, so fairly active. Had to take today to rest, b/c the planned event was an outing on a boat, and I have zero interest. It's pouring now but unless there is thunder, I don't think that will stop them—I don't know, though. And I don't know if it's pouring where they are, about 30 minutes away.

A good trip. heading home tomorrow, probably.

    TTFN.

    Howdy, Group!

Maureen, thank you! And I believe an occasion splurge is healthy mentally. 😉

Thanks, Lana! I did....but having the cabana boys serving would have been a plus. 😉

Today was straightening up and washing sheets. My daughter bought me some gifts from my Amazon wishlist. She got me a ceramic lined water bottle, which I love! I hate the metallic taste of the bottle I had...I can actually taste the water now. She also got me an outdoor planter that is split in the middle and fits around the pole of my bird feeder. Need to get some flowering plants for it.

Time for dinner....a nice salad. Till tomorrow!

Boy did we have storms pass through yesterday/night. It was scary. The neighborhood listserve said that a tree fell onto a rental house with grad students. No one was hurt, but Yikes! I love living in this woodsy neighborhood, but it's not without risk.

    G'day, Mates!

Lana, we had storms too, but further north got it worse with downed trees and power outages.

I got an alert of a FedEx delivery....I didn't order anything. So I went downstairs and there was a good sized box. Heavy, too. I was able to get it up to my apartment and looked on the box. It's an aquarium stand! I had it on my Amazon wishlist....another gift from my daughter! I thanked her and said now I have to get a 10 gallon aquarium...LOL!

I feel off today…unsettled. I have to go to my brother's and take in his mail. Then a trip to the grocery store for a few things. Breakfast wasn't healthy....2 slices of toast with peach jam. Dinner will be better.

Hope everyone is doing good today!

    Happy Saturday, y'all!

Lana, thanks! Feeling about the same, but it will pass. Sorry about your sleep issue...I can empathize.

I am getting ready for the heat wave. My brother's pool is open and I am trying to get the ambition up to using it. Probably tomorrow. The thing is, like everything else they own, they are obsessive. I have to make sure I leave everything exactly as I found it, down to the placement of a chair, don't forget to put the umbrella down strap it closed. Have to put the cover back on, make sure all the clamps are secure....its a pain. So I rarely use their pool alone. Still tomorrow may be worth it. I really need the exercise, too.

Speaking of swimming, I pulled out all my swimsuits and tried them on. My favorite suit? Too big now. I am a bit sorry....I really liked that suit. Two others are still too small One fits just right, but its a meh suit. But at least I have a suit to wear.

Phils won an awesome game last night! Hope they can sweep the Mets.

Hey, all. I had a false start yesterday—left for home, but it was going to take 50 min to go 5 miles. Turn right around and went back to my sister's. Home in Charlotte now. Tired and a little sad. I'll be ok, though :)

Time to get serious about logging again. I totally went off my calorie budget the last 2 days. Not overly concerned. I think I'll settle back into a routine pretty quickly. Driving has tired me out and I plan to go to bed pretty darn early—which means I'll wake really early, and that always gives me a good start. And on a Sunday, too! Good timing.

Stay cool, all. Looks like it's record heat in a lot of different parts of the U.S. Ours is "normal horrible heat index," haha. So up and out very early is the only way to beat it!

I am making mac and cheese from scratch -adding vegetables sometime this weekend.

I went early this morning with a podcast on my cell phone and got 3k steps in. Close to 5k already.

Late Happy Birthday Sandy! Birthdays only happen once a year, you should splurge a little.

    Hi Sara, Hi Maureen ✨

Sandy - The pool rules sound like a pain in the neck unless they have gone away for the season. Ugh.

Maybe you can take the cover off 2/3 of the way, which may make it easier to put back on. You can swim or work out and then have it easier to cover again.

As a long-time pool owner I wonder why they keep it covered? OCD? Scrimping on the chlorine?

    • - - - - - -

I have to tell y'all that I have changed my meals the past few weeks to try to lower my insulin resistance, and it is having a very good effect.

No calorie counting. I've been eating three meals a day roughly, keeping between 9AM and 6PM.

I have steamed fresh veggies (string beans+ broccoli+ carrots), high fiber navy beans +olive oil, a LOT of chicken/protein, any kind of fat, saving the fresh fruit for last, and almost no sugar/processed carbs. It's not bad! Simple is good!

    Good Morning, Crew!

Maureen, You stay cool, too....and welcome home!

Sara, THANK YOU! You are right. The watchword there is "little"....he he. But I did ok.

Lara, you have NO idea. I remember when I was one step from being homeless, they asked if I would like to stay at their house for 2 weeks while they were at their shore house (to keep an eye on things...they didn't have a pool then) and I agreed. WELL, the list of things to do and NOT do. I was having anxiety nearly the whole 2 weeks. I guess I did ok because I didn't hear anything to the contrary. My SIL is the real problem. And she is what I call an "organized hoarder". She's not like the ones on TV. But every empty space in their house has something on it. I nearly fell down the laundry room stairs once because they have things lining both sides of the stairs with a path to walk down. Told my brother...he said that's just the way she is. She has 3 of their bedroom closets filled with her clothes....and she buys more all the time. They have a storage loft above their living room, a spare bedroom, a garage with an attic space, and a garden shed.....all totally filled with stuff. And people think "I" have a lot of stuff.....that's a laugh. But brother is henpecked.…he doesn't want to deal with her. And her father WAS a hoarder.....newspapers, magazines. Brother told me when he died it took them weeks to get rid of everything.

Sorry for the novel length explanation (maybe I needed to vent), but its one reason I only see my brother on occasion. She won't come here and she only wants me there on her terms. She used to be better, but aging has changed her. Socially she is very nice, but she grew up privileged and now it's showing.

A light breakfast this morning to take my meds. Dinner is several options. I was going to swim today, but it looks like it's going to rain again.…sheesh! Breakfast out in the morning.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

    Good evening,

Garage sale at church helped be go through my dvd/cd and romance novels. I got a little out and it is a start.

Sandra I am glad you understand your SIL. There are more hoaders out there than we know. Maybe its a control issue.

Lana your new diet sounds good as it is not restricting and you are not weighing your food and fixating on it as much. Keep up the good work.

My weight is down again but it is more to do with the steps I have gotten in. Podcasts and walking parking lot go well together (one ear pod -listen for cars).

Dragon tomorrow. Time to set myself for sleep.

    Good Morning!

Sara, it may be a controlling thing although I couldn't guess the underlying cause. They are very comfortable…no money worries, obviously. But she can be snobish. People tend to change with age…she has. At least to people not in their inner circle of friends....she has no issues with them. Oh....and great job with the steps!

Lana, yes. My only real regret is living 10 minutes down the road from my brother, yet rarely seeing him.

Went out to breakfast with the SO, but took my pills too soon. Now dealing with and upset stomach. It will pass...its just annoying.

The SO is sleeping sitting up on the couch next to me. I can't sleep sitting up. But he gets up too early. I am not a napper.

Got an email from my friend in Virginia, wishing me a happy birthday. I wrote her right back. She is doing ok....making a quilt. SO jealous of her talent! She can sew, knit, crochet and craft anything.

Well, the SO woke up. Till tomorrow...

Hey, all. You sound so busy! I was up and out by 6:30 with the dogs at one of my secret "off leash" places. Sun was over the tree line in some places, but I did 2.7 miles—slowly, of course, walking. Wrong shoes so my back hurt. But not too bad. Took a nap later :) Then went to the library and just got back. I need to build up endurance for my return to work.

My weight today was a pound or so above when I left for my sister's, but we'll see how this week goes. I feel like I've retained fluid vs. gained fat—but still down 10 from when I started, so that's good.

It's only 4 pm but I'm ready for bedtime. I'd love to be waking early—maybe if I go to sleep early enough tonight, I will.

    Take care.
