@fabgeekmom Yes, it was weird lol. Oh, it's such a relief for the toilet to work properly. I'm glad your DS is feeling better. Dinner sounds yummy.
@mh7816 Sorry about your hectic week. Thank you, it did go well. Yes, it was weird, I was wondering what his motive was and then he said it. I hope the iron infusion helps make you feel better. I'm glad you got your cat back in, sorry she's all dirty!
Hi all. At the luncheon yesterday, I ended up ordering the short ribs with mashed potatoes and carrots. I didn't really like the short ribs all that much but the mashed potatoes and carrots were delicious. I didn't eat much of the meal. Unfortunately, I was at the end of the table and could not hear the conversations very well. Today, I work from home and the handyman is coming to do some painting in the bathroom.

@trooworld Too bad about your meal, but at least you enjoyed the mashed potatoes and carrots. Large groups are frustrating as you can’t hear all the conversations. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Dinner with be last night’s leftovers.

@fabgeekmom Yes. I did! I agree about groups. Good job with the swim. I hope you enjoyed the leftovers.
Hi all. It was a really nice day here yesterday, up in the high 70s/low 80s (F). After I got done working, I sat on the porch and read a little bit while waiting for a package to arrive. It was nice. The only things I have scheduled today are to pick up a Sam's Club order in the morning and then later today, get an oil change at the dealership. It should be another nice day (weather-wise).

@fabgeekmom I hope the spring concert was fun! I used to love word puzzles. I bought those variety puzzle books. I loved them. I cant get into it as much on my phone.
@trooworld I always find lunches like that difficult. I just give up talking to people and try to get through it lol. it’s hard to fit exercise in when working for sure. I feel like whatever you can do is ok.
I was talking to someone this week who said the problem with the wellness industry is it can make people feel ashamed if they can’t make things work- (not saying you feel that, we were talking about me lol) – but the comment has stayed with me.
@cbabie I’m sure running around after little ones counts as exercise!
@mh7816 yeah I had a personal trainer for years and loved it. Same- too expensive now, also I moved and I’m not in the same area he is in. I would like to get back to it someday though. …I’m anemic too- I just did iron supplements for 3 months, and I’m supposed to get tested again in July, but the symptoms are coming back. I’m on my way to find some iron fortified cereal this morning lol. I may call my doc next week to move up the test.
I’m ok. The weather is nicer here, I’m frustrated I can’t do more physically like I used to. Oh well. I’m trying to be patient. I have a conference Monday and Tuesday which I’m not looking forward to. It’s just too much time with people for me, plus there are a lot of people there from a job I quit years ago and I just don’t want to see them. Plus there will be a lot of food, and I always find the conference boring so I eat too much lol. PLUS it’s a long commute for me. Is that enough complaining lol?
The one good thing is I will see my close work colleague, who I don’t usually see in person so that will be nice. The other good thing is it’s only once a year heh.

@trooworld Your weather sounds perfect. We had a nice day today, also with temperatures in the low 60’s in the morning and high 60’s in the afternoon. @its_cleo Your comment on exercise is interesting. I just do what I can. I think everyone needs to lose the guilt and do what makes them feel good. I know what you mean about conferences. I’m retired and remember all those boring meetings. Hi, all. DH and I got Covid vaccines this morning as it is recommended that anyone over 65 get one after 6 months. We also went grocery shopping as we were out of fruit. I walked around the neighborhood before lunch. I sat outside on the front porch and listened to an audiobook. Tonight we are eating leftovers so I don’t have to cook. DS is feeling better but still isolating from us. He’s going back to work tomorrow as he won’t be contagious.

@its_cleo That's exactly what I did lol! Thank you, I am going to do my best with exercise. I do feel exactly like that (ashamed)...and when I go to the surgeon's office, I feel even worse: they say, "You need to be exercising at least 3 days a week and resistance training at least one day a week. You are losing muscle" and it makes me feel bad. I feel like I can't say anything against it because it will just sound like an excuse to them. I agree with what was said in your conversation. I know that feeling and I'm sorry you can't do what you used to do. I hope you can get through the conference okay. Complain away! LOL
@fabgeekmom Those are nice temperatures! I'm glad you got the COVID vaccine. Your day sounds relaxing.
Hi all. I had a nice day yesterday: It got up to 95F here! I picked up groceries, went to the Little Italy Farmer's Market and walked around, went to the coffee shop and read (I started a new book which I liked better than the one I was reading) for quite a while, then went to get the oil change. After I came home from that, my DH and I went for a walk in our favorite neighborhood. We stopped and had a non-alcoholic beer and read some more. Came home and, even though it was 8:30 pm, I made dinner: I cleaned off the grill for the first grill of the season (although living in Southern CA, grill season is all year round lol). I made smoked cremini mushrooms, air fryer baked potatoes, and ribeye steaks with herbed butter. It was good but too rich, I only took a few bites of everything. I didn't want to get sick from all the butter!
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers of all kinds! I hope this day does not bring you sad memories, only happy ones. Mother's Day is tough for me: my mom and I had a terrible relationship and she's dead now. The relationship was never what my friends had with their moms. So, it's a tough day for me. We are going over to visit with my MIL and SIL. My SIL is getting Italian food and I am making an Italian garden salad with homemade croutons and dressing. We bought a chocolate opera cake from Sam's Club, they are really good (they call them "Tuxedo" cakes).

@trooworld I’m sorry that Mother’s Day brings bad feelings. I have something similar but it was a stepmother. Luckily I had my MIL and an aunt who was like a mother to me. Wow, 95 is hot! Your meal sounded good. It’s good that you only ate a little bit of it. I hope you had a good time with your SIL and MIL. That meal, especially the cake, sounds good. Hi, all. We didn’t have anyone over today since DS is still recovering from the flu. He ate dinner with us and I can tell he’s having better. He went to work today. He brought me a pretty rose plant. I didn’t see DD but she and my granddaughter FaceTimed me and wished me a happy Mother’s Day.

@fabgeekmom Thank you. I do have a nice MIL so that's good. Yes, it was very hot on Saturday and yesterday wasn't much better! I did have a good day yesterday. I'm glad you guys are being cautious about having people over and that your DS is feeling better.
Hi all. Yesterday was nice. There was a last-minute change of plans for the food: my MIL didn't want Italian food, she wanted to make lunch instead. She arranged some cold cuts on a plate with sandwich fixings and made a simple chicken soup so that's what we had. It was good and better for us!

Sounds like you both had nice days yesterday. I don't have any contact with my mother, long story, so the day used to bother me but now I don't notice it much.
Conference today, I am procrastinating going lol. Food- so I am trying to think lunch I will try to estimate calories. I'm trying to think of a strategy- maybe just 2 food items and 1 dessert? Like they usually have 3 mains and a bunch of sides to choose from, and then little tarts or something for dessert. So maybe just 1 protein and 1 side?
I'm thinking it out here so hopefully I dont overdo it which I usually do. Also I'm bringing a book if I get bored.

@trooworld That was a good idea to have sandwiches instead of the Italian food. Lunch is a good time to get together. @its_cleo Conferences are hard since you have no control over what you eat. I’m glad you have a book to read. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I was going to grill some chicken but it rained so I used the air fryer. I marinated the chicken in olive oil, garlic and the juice and zest of one orange. It was good. We also had salad and corn on the cob. I usually eat some chocolate for dessert. I slowly nibble one mini piece. DH almost threw my piece away as he thought it was trash. I was like, whoa!

@its_cleo Yes, it was a nice day. I understand tough relationships with mothers, that's how mine was with my mother before she died. All my life, we didn't get along and I never felt loved by her. So, I get it. I hope you can figure out the food and feel satisfied. Good luck at the conference!
@fabgeekmom Yes, it worked out perfectly! Good job with the swim. Your chicken sounds yummy. I like the added zest of the orange idea. I'm glad DH didn't throw out your chocolate!
Hi all. Work was okay yesterday. Nothing unusual happened, which is nice for a Monday. For dinner, I made Saucy Gochujang Noodles with Ground Turkey. It was easy to make and pretty good but spicy. I went to bed late, at 8:00 pm: my husband has a class on Monday nights and I have to pick him up from that and it makes me stay up later. I am tired today.

Morning all, last week was exhausting..LOL. but I am starting to recoup. Mothers day was different, everyone was tired from their trip last week. I lost .9 lbs last week. I expected a gain considering what I ate and my stress levels. LOL So I am taking it and hoping to do better this week.
@trooworld I am sorry you didn't have a good relationship with your mom. I think I cried a lot on Sunday as I really missed mine for some reason. She has been gone 12 years but this year it seemed like she just passed. weird. I am glad you have a good relationship with MIL. Funny about the mop water…sounds like something my DH would do.
@fabgeekmom Sorry your son had the flu. My daughter got it and ran a fever for a few days. Luckily no one else got it. Glad he is feeling better. You dinner sounds very yummy. LOL on the desert. My DH always does that, thinking he is helping me clean up..
@its_cleo I hope your conference went well. I was just telling by daughter about one I had to fly to and forgot my Driver License and had to pay to Uber them to me at the airport..It was a terrible trip. LOL
@mh7816 A Personal trainer would be nice. It would keep me on track for sure. It's hard to look a real live person in the face and say no no exercise today…I don't feel like it. LOL. My daughter was a personal. trainer for one of the gyms here in town. She loves to give me routines she thinks will help me…I am just not disciplined right now..LOL

@trooworld It’s good to have a day that’s pretty normal. Too bad you got to bed late since you have to get up so early. @cbabie. I’m sorry Mother’s Day was so sad for you. Good job on the weight loss. Hi, all. DH and I had to drop off his truck for maintenance so, since we were already out, we went to the recreation center. I worked out on the recumbent elliptical. Our hairdresser came and cut our hair. We were supposed to have it done last week but postponed it due to our son having the flu. He’s much better now. I’m cooking dinner for family night. I’m making spaghetti and meatballs in the instant pot. I’m on cooking duty until DS gets over this cold.

@cbabie Congrats on the loss! I'm sorry about the stress and exhaustion. Thank you. It's tough at certain times of the year. I wish I could say the relationship with my father was better but it was worse. I'm sorry about your mom and missing her. The mop water: I can't remember if I said this but just the other day after the toilet installation happened, he mopped the floor and I told him NOT to throw it down the toilet because I think that may be what clogged the other one and he said how do I know? And he didn't believe me. But he did throw the water outside. Had I not said something, he would have thrown it down the toilet!
@fabgeekmom Yes, I need those once in a while lol. I was tired yesterday but not too bad. Good job with the recumbent elliptical. I'm glad DS is better. Yummy dinner!
Hi all. I wasn't too tired yesterday, I was too busy to be tired lol. I made Indian butter chicken with a jarred sauce from Sam's Club that actually isn't too high in calories. I added frozen veggies and served it over quinoa. It was pretty good and easy to make. I'm supposed to make Skinnytaste Pineapple Chicken tonight but I don't know that I will have the energy.

@trooworld I’m glad your DH didn’t flush the mop water. I bet you can find something on the internet to prove that you’re right. Your meal sounded good. Hi, all. I had a doctor’s appointment this morning and errands to run so I didn’t get to walk outside. It was too hot after lunch. I rode my bike instead. Dinner was salmon, rice, golden beets, and a slice of Italian bread. I was going to eat my usual chocolate for dessert but was too full for it.

@cbabie that’s cool your daughter is a personal trainer. I’m sorry your mother’s day was tough! Holidays can be so hard.
@fabgeekmom sounds like a nice dinner. Glad your son is feeling better!
@trooworld hmm interesting with the mop water. I did use to throw it down the toilet, although it was never a lot. I always lived in apartments though, where it would’ve been hard to throw it outside.
The conference was a drag, - on the bright side I didn’t like the food so I ate less than I normally do. It has put me behind at work, so trying to get caught up yesterday and today. It also kind of derailed my meal plans for yesterday and today, bc I didn’t have time to cook.
Yesterday I had some meals from the freezer, today I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m trying to avoid takeout but not sure I can come up with something for dinner. Depends how the day goes!

@fabgeekmom Me too. That's a good idea to look on the internet, I will do that. Thanks! Good job with the bike. I've never had golden beets but have always wanted to try them.
Hi all. I was too tired when I got home from work to make the pineapple chicken so I had leftover gochujang noodles for dinner. I don't know what I will have tonight: my husband is leaving for Japan for a trip with his sister tomorrow and I will be getting him ready for that. So, it may be something like a frozen pizza.

@trooworld That’s cool that your DH and his sister are going to Japan. A frozen pizza sounds good. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. My afternoon was relaxing as I didn’t have much to do. I prepared America’s Test Kitchen Creamy Polenta with sausages and peppers. It was good, but labor intensive and I made a mess in the kitchen. DH helped me clean it up.

@fabgeekmom Yes, I wish I were going too, but I am not lol. Good job with the swim. I'm glad you had a relaxing afternoon. I hate when things are too complicated. I'm glad it was good though.
Hi all. I'm up a bit early as I have to take my DH and his sister to LAX this morning for their flight. I'm not looking forward to the drive to LA as there is always traffic, especially going to the airport. I took the whole day off because I don't know how long it will take to do this. Hopefully, I get back in time to go to the coffee shop and read or something fun. I made it to Onederland this morning!

Morning all, I can't say I have stayed on the plan, it's been a crazy week. I am so so so looking forward to school being out. LOL. I just asked chatGPT to give me a menu of 1200 calories a day for the week. Interesting what it chose. Plus it spits out the grocery list. I am stuck and I am trying to get unstuck.
@trooworld Oh love the post…congratulations on the Onederland!! Well sounds like you might be getting a vacation while your DH and his sister are gone. LOL. I am sorry about your dad and your relationship. I am glad you are you!! I enjoy your conversations and how you pivot so well.
@fabgeekmom Glad you liked your dinner since it was labor intensive. LOL. I probably would have given up. I like when DH helps me clean the ktichen…he's not so good in the cooking part. LOL Yea for getting on your bike!!
@its_cleo You got this. Ask ChatGPT what to do for dinner, give him a list of your pantry and see what he comes up with LOL Glad you were good with the food on your conference and glad you took your book..LOL. Always a back up plan, that 's what I say. :)

@trooworld Congrats on onederland! Way to go! I hope traffic wasn’t too bad. I remember traffic in LA. @cbabie I have never used chatGPT. I’m glad you are using it to get you unstuck. I was always glad when school was out. I was a teacher and didn’t work summers so summers with the kids were relaxing. Hi, all. We went to Sam’s this morning and actually got there at 10 AM when they opened. It wasn’t too crowded and of course, we used scan to pay. Tonight is steak night. I rode my bike as it is too hot to go outside.

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been absent, it was busy at work like normal, but I worked in the office on Tuesday instead of at home, because my Team Leader is leaving and I wanted to say goodbye in person. It made for a long day with the commute, and then Wednesday was another long day because I had my iron infusion in the morning.
@trooworld Congratulations on making onederland! That must be a great feeling. You’re doing so well. I hope the traffic wasn’t too bad going to the airport. I hope your husband and sister have a nice time in Japan.@fabgeekmom Sounds like you are a good cook, your meals always sound great. I’m the sort of person who could burn toast LOL. Good that you used your bike because it was too hot to walk outside. It’s finally getting cold in Australia- winter starts in June, but it was pretty warm in April, which is unusual for the middle of autumn/fall.
@cbabie When does school finish? In June or July? I think it’s great you used chatGPT to help with planning what to eat. Sometimes you just need to change things to get moving again.
@its_cleo Sorry the conference was a drag, but at least it’s over now. It’s good you ate well, I imagine it would be very easy to gain weight on a work trip, so it sounds like you did very well.
I am fine, I gained weight last Saturday when I weighed myself - 400 grams (sorry I don’t know what that is in pounds - about a pound?) and I was really annoyed with myself. This week I lost 600 grams - yay LOL - so I made up for it. I visited my mum for mother’s day, she is in a nursing home, it is thankfully a very good one. We don’t really get along but I visit her once every two weeks. The nursing home is two bus trips from my house, so four buses total there and back, so it became too hard to visit every week. I feel bad for not visiting her more though.1 -
@cbabie I hope the time flies between now and school getting out. What kinds of things did ChatGPT give you? I was thinking of giving it a list of all the things in my cupboard and seeing if it can make a menu using those things and a few more things that I don't have. You got this. Thank you! I am getting a vacation, in a way, but in another way it's more work: I have to take care of my SIL's cat (go over there and water/feed her and clean her litterbox), and I have to take care of our dogs by myself. So...yes good in some ways but bad in others lol. Thank you, I appreciate that. Those are nice compliments.
@fabgeekmom Thank you! It wasn't too bad. I am going to Sam's Club this morning. I have the plus membership so I can go before they officially open, which is nice. I'm glad it wasn't too crowded. I love scan to pay! I hope you enjoyed the steaks. Good job with the bike.
@mh7816 Sounds like you've had a full schedule. I hope the iron infusion helps. Thank you! It is a great feeling, it's been a long time since I was in Onederland. Thank you. I think they will have a nice time. Sorry about the gain, but it's good you lost it the next week! That's good you visited your mom. Wow, that's quite an ordeal to get to the nursing home! I'm sure she understands and appreciates when you can come.
Hi all. Traffic was surprisingly almost non-existent, we got to LAX airport in about 2 hrs 30 minutes. It's a huge airport with 8 terminals so I was very anxious but we managed to find the right terminal and I dropped them off okay. I got back in 2 hrs 10 mins. I went to a credit union and opened an account there and that's about all I did. I came home and looked at our budget and made some adjustments. Then, I just relaxed. I ate part of a Caesar salad kit from Sam's Club for dinner. Today, I have some errands: groceries, a haircut, and then taking one of the dogs to the vet. I may go to the coffee shop, too, and read.

@trooworld congrats on Onederland! That’s amazing. There is an actual amusement park here called Canada's Wonderland, I used to love going there when I was a kid. Lots of fun. My first roller coaster was there. So I always think of it when someone posts about the weight Onderland lol. …that's great about the traffic, but still a pretty long day I'm sure……
@cbabie I don’t use chatgpt either, although I recall finding a website that did the same thing- came up with menus/recipes based on the criteria you put in. I ended up ordering pizza bt something went wrong and the order got cancelled, which was probably for the best.
@mh7816 it’s funny, we use metric – km, Celsius, - but weight we still do Imperial. Although when I’m cooking- food is all in metric. It's just body weight is Imperial. I think that is the only holdover. …..Sounds like a long trip to visit your mother, sorry to hear. All we can do is the best we can.
I’ve been pretty consistent with tracking the last few days. Today I’m going to try a pilates class. I’m a little nervous about it- I’ve never done pilates much, but I recall it being pretty challenging. Also not sure how it will impact my hip but I thought I would give it a try and see.

@fabgeekmom ever since you mentioned doing puzzles on your phone, I've been trying to find some, but brain puzzles. I'm terrible at crosswords lol. Although it seems like the best apps are paid and I don't want to do that heh. But I found a couple I'm checking out.

@mh7816 It’s good that you lost what you gained.
You are a good daughter to visit your mother when you have to travel so much to see her, especially since your relationship was tenuous. And it’s good that she is in a good nursing home. @trooworld That was nice that you didn’t have traffic. I remember that airport in LA. Good job on getting where you needed to be. The salad sounded good. It’s nice to relax with a book. @its_cleo Goid job on tracking. I hope the Pilates class is fun and not too stressful on your hip. Hi, all. Today was a busy day. DH and I went swimming. After lunch I needed to go grocery shopping for a few things for dinner. Tonight was family dinner night. I prepared grilled pork chops, sautéed beet greens, air fried golden beets and wild rice. We also had toasted Italian bread. We had a few pieces of candy that my cousin bought me yesterday. So a good day!
0 -
@its_cleo Thank you! Interesting about the amusement park. Yes, it was a pretty long day! That's great you've been consistent with tracking. I've been doing pretty good with it, too. How did the pilates class go? I hope your hip was okay.
@fabgeekmom Yes, I was glad for the lack of traffic. It may be a different story when I go to pick them up on Friday! Good job with the swim. Your dinner sounds yummy.
Hi all. I did end up going to the coffee shop and reading yesterday after the vet. It was nice. Then, I came home and spent some time with the dogs and took care of them. Then, I went to the in-person meeting of my silent book club. It was nice to connect with other book lovers. I stayed after the meeting to talk with people. I haven't been sleeping well since my husband left. I got up yesterday at 3 am, today at 3:30 am. I can't wait for him to come back. Today, I have to go take care of my SIL's cat. After that, I will go and have some coffee and read and attend the virtual meeting of the silent book club.

@trooworld I can understand that you have trouble sleeping with your DH being gone. The reading groups sound relaxing. Hi, all. I went for a walk this morning and waited too late to go, so it was hot. I’m not doing much today. Dinner will be at my daughter’s house.

@trooworld I hope they get back safely soon!
Pilates class- was a good workout, kicked my butt holy smokes. I hurt today lol. I'm not sure about the hip. It was sore last night but not sure if it was that or something else. I will likely try the class again, but not sure when.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Yeah, I just don't sleep very well with him gone. The reading group is relaxing and fun. Sorry it was hot for your walk. Good job, though! I hope you had a relaxing rest of your day.
@its_cleo Me too! :) I'm glad the pilates was a good workout. I hope your hip isn't affected.
Hi all. I did a lot of reading yesterday and finished the book I was reading. I went to the coffee shop twice, once in the morning and then again in the afternoon. I did NOT attend the silent book club's virtual meeting, I decided I didn't feel like talking so I skipped it. I did Zoom with a friend who lives in Colorado. It was nice to talk to her. Today is work all day.
