@trooworld It’s nice that you connected with a friend. I don’t blame you for missing the virtual meeting. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I had to get a few things from the grocery store. Luckily I live close to the store. Tonight we went to see our granddaughter perform in her rock group. She plays the drums and the bass guitar. Afterwards we ate dinner at the local Italian restaurant that we go to occasionally. I always order a half portion of manicotti.

@fabgeekmom Yes, it had been a while since we had talked. Good job with the swim! That's convenient you live close to the store. How cool that your GD plays the drums and the bass! Good job with the restaurant.
Hi all. Not much going on. I have to be at work early today, at 6:30 am, because I'm getting off early to take care of my SIL's cat. I am off to a late start. One of my dogs bit my little toe in the middle of the night by accident. It was a rude awakening! I had pre-cooked smoked chicken breast with seasoned brussels sprouts from Sam's Club for dinner. It was okay.

@trooworld ouch! Hope your toe is ok. …I would find virtual meetings hard even if it’s for fun. I know they’re convenient. At work we do virtual meetings, but no camera so it’s just like a telecon, which is fine with me.
@fabgeekmom sounds like a nice day. Manicotti sounds yummy.
Well after a couple days- I think both the yoga and pilates class are ok for my hip. So I’m going to try to keep them up once a week when my schedule allows.
I had a nice long weekend. I was walking Sat and there was a gosling in the water abandoned and struggling. Myself and another couple watched. It seemed to be injured, and the family abandoned it (I did read geese will do that). We thought it was going to drown bc it couldn’t swim verywell and it was getting tired. So the guy actually managed to catch it.
I knew of a Wildlife org in the area that had vets and did rehab for wild animals, so I called them. We had to wait about an hour but they called and said they would take the gosling. It was a boy apparently. They would get their vet to check him out and then try to return him to another family- apparently geese also will adopt random new kid showing up if they already have other goslings lol.
So that was interesting, I was glad we got help. I know it’s nature and some animals don’t survive, but it would’ve been a slow death for the little guy. It was hard to watch.
Also I broke my sunglasses so that was a drag, I’m just about blind in the sun without them. I ordered a new pair but probably wont get here til next week.

@trooworld I hope your toe is okay. That was a rude awakening! @its_cleo I’m glads the yoga and Pilates were okay on your hip. That was good that you could call someone to save the gosling. That’s too bad about your sunglasses. Hi, all. DH and I had dentist appointments this morning. All was okay. I went for a walk afterwards. DS grilled chicken breasts and made pesto pasta with the basil we have in pots. It was really good and we have leftovers for tomorrow night.

@its_cleo It is fine lol, just a little nip. I would rather meet in person but she lives in Colorado so that's out lol. That's good you do no camera at work. My work, we sometimes do virtual meetings but we do cameras unfortunately. I'm glad to hear your hip is okay. That's great you were able to rescue the gosling, he's so cute! Bummer about your sunglasses. :(
@fabgeekmom My toe is fine, it was just a little nip. It was! Good job with the walk. I'm glad the dentist went okay. That does sound like a good dinner.
Hi all. Last night, I slept the best I have since my husband has been gone. That's not to say I slept well, I still got a FAIR score on my watch and I feel tired. But I've been sleeping lousy. It took me an hour and a half to get to my sister-in-law's place to take care of her cat yesterday, I even left work at 3 pm. It should have taken me 35-45 minutes. That was so annoying lol. I got home after 5 and just ate dinner and went to bed. I had salad with grilled chicken for dinner. Easy meal.

@trooworld I’m glad your toe is okay. Too bad about traffic. Glad you got better sleep even though it wasn’t what you wanted it to be. Your dinner sounded good. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Not much is going on. No cooking tonight as we are eating leftovers.

@fabgeekmom Thanks! Good job with the swim. That's good you get a break from cooking.
Hi all. One more day, I pick up my husband tomorrow. It's been kind of hard: as I said, I haven't been sleeping well...I got up at 2:50 today and couldn't get back to sleep. It's been hard keeping the dogs from stepping on each other and getting in fights. I miss him. Last night, I came home and had leftovers and then went to bed. Boring lol. Today, I take care of my SIL's cat.

@fabgeekmom glad the dentist was ok. I had a bunch of dental issues last fall- I had like 7 appts, although some were for weird things- I needed to start wearing a mouth guard at night, so getting it fitted, and I had to have a small procedure done on my gums- but now I’m a nervous wreck when I go to the dentist lol.
@trooworld I’m glad your husband is coming home! I’m sure he is too- no place like home.
I’ve been doing really well on tracking. I’m a bit stressed at work the last week, but I’ve done really well at staying steady. Yesterday I almost ordered a pizza but skipped it. Tonight I’m making spaghetti.
I’m going to try the pilates class again on Sat, although holy smokes was my core sore lol. I’m very out of shape. But I guess that’s the reason to go.
It has poured rain here the last couple days, quite cold.

@trooworld I know you will be happy when your husband gets home. Sometimes boring is good, especially if you can get some rest. @its_cleo I’m also nervous about going to the dentist as several years ago I had 2 teeth pulled. I have implants now so all is good. Good job on not ordering pizza. Good idea to continue Pilates. Hi, all. I rode my bike today as my hips and knees were hurting. I felt better afterwards. I also went grocery shopping. I used up ripe bananas to make baked oatmeal. I made an instant pot recipe for shrimp that was good. I didn’t have all the ingredients but I made substitutions.
0 -
@its_cleo Yes, he's very happy to be coming home. Good job with the tracking! Sorry about the work stress. That's great that you skipped the pizza. Spaghetti is my favorite meal, my husband said he might make it tonight for dinner if he has the energy. Good luck with Pilates. I hope you enjoy it and it doesn't hurt your hip. Sorry about the weather.
@fabgeekmom Yes. I know what you mean and if I had been able to sleep well, it would have been a nice break from all our activity. Good job with the bike, sorry about your knees and hips. I'm glad it helped to ride the bike. Good job pivoting when you didn't have all the ingredients.
Hi all. Again, I didn't sleep well: up every hour and finally gave up at 2:45 and got up and made coffee. Today, I pick up my husband at the LA airport. It will be good to have him back. I got him a welcome home present: a matcha white chocolate bar and a card. We are thinking about joining a gym. My husband said he'd go with me. We would go Friday-Sunday and possibly either Mondays or Thursdays. The gym we are thinking of joining is only $22 a month and is pretty decent, although kind of bare bones. That's fine.

@trooworld By the time you are reading this, I hope you slept better with DH being home. The gym sounds like a good idea. The price looks good and it will probably have what you need. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We had steak for dinner. I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

@fabgeekmom Yes I did thank you! I think the gym will be okay, too. Good job with the swim! I hope you enjoyed the steak.
Hi all. My husband is home but not without drama lol. I left at 9:05 am, got to the cell phone lot at about 11:05 am and sat and waited. Their plane came in without a hitch at about 12:20 and so then I set out from the lot to look for them. I got lost. Really lost. LAX has 8 terminals. I knew that. What I didn't know is that it has two levels and I was going around to their terminal but on the wrong level. So, I drove around all 8 terminals in stop-and-go traffic at least 6 times. Finally, my SIL sent me a pin of where they were standing and I figured it out. It took me over an hour to find them and I know all they wanted to do was go home, poor people. Traffic on the way back was kind of bad, we didn't get home until 5:45 pm. My husband brought me home cool souvenirs: some t-shirts with artists stuff on them, some bookmarks, authentic ramen noodles to make ramen soup out of, etc. I slept better last night than I have all week, I slept in until about 4:40 am.

@trooworld That’s too bad about getting lost at LAX. The souvenirs sounded nice. That was thoughtful of your DH to bring you them. I’m glad you slept better. Hi, all. I prepared a Skinnytaste recipe for stuffed shells with meat sauce this morning. I have everything ready to bake in the oven for family dinner tonight. DS is baking a cake for dinner this afternoon so I needed to get out of the kitchen. I’m tired as it was a lot of prep. All I have to do is prepare a salad. I already made homemade ranch dressing. I’m going to go for a walk before lunch.

@fabgeekmom Yes. Yes, he is very thoughtful. That was a good idea to prep things for dinner ahead of time. I hope you enjoyed the dinner. Good job with the walk.
Hi all. I'm so glad I am sleeping better. Back on my normal schedule, which is not perfect but better. My DH and I ran an errand yesterday and then had coffee at a coffee shop. Then we went to Little Italy to the farmer's market. It was a nice day. We did not go to the grocery stores, so now we will need to go today and I don't look forward to it because of the Memorial Day crowds. My DH made dinner last night: rigatoni with meat sauce. It was good but I didn't eat much.

@trooworld That sounded like a lovely day! Good luck with grocery shopping. I need a few things but can wait until tomorrow. Hi, all. Dinner was good and I had leftovers which I put in the freezer. Tonight we are having the meal we were going to have for Mother’s Day: hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. I’m making Skinnytaste baked beans. My cousin is bringing a salad and DS is making a cake with homemade blueberry jam in the frosting. My cousin and her husband are coming over plus my daughter and her family.

@trooworld – that’s nice you got him a present! ….and all the souvenirs sound nice. What a drag at the airport.
I think a barebones gym is ok, depends what you want. I’m uncomfortable in a lot of gyms. The place where I go for the pilates and yoga is small, and everyone seems relaxed and low key. I like it. It’s not a full gym though.
@fabgeekmom are they coming bc it’s Memorial Day? Is that a big holiday there? I always think of July 4th as the big one.
I had a nice weekend, but over cals yesterday- had takeout and a couple drinks. But it was a stressful 2 weeks at work and I made it through so I just wanted to relax. Back on track today, and I biked 10 km today.
The weather has been cold and rainy, I wish it would warm up. I have arthritis in one ankle on top of everything else, and it has been sore all week. Finally today I started doing some mobility stuff for the ankle, like just circles and flexing and stuff. Keep the joint moving.
0 -
@its_cleo Yes, it’s Memorial Day weekend. Everyone lives near me and it’s a good reason for us to eat a meal together. I’m sorry you’ve had a stressful week. Good job on being on track. Biking 10 km is a lot. I know how the cold weather affects arthritis.
0 -
@fabgeekmom It was. Thanks! I'm glad dinner was good. How were the ST baked beans? Sounds like a lovely meal. I hope you enjoyed time with your family.
@its_cleo He liked it. :) Yeah the airport sucked lol. I think that gym will definitely work out okay. All I need is a place to work out. I think they have some classes as well, some you have to pay for. That's good you like your gym. I'm glad you had a nice weekend and are back on track now. Yay for the biking! I hope the weather improves and good for you for doing those exercises for your ankle, I bet that will help.
Hi all. Yesterday was pretty nice. Got all my groceries with no problems (I thought because it was Memorial Day weekend, the stores would be extra busy but it was okay). I still have to plan for the joining of the gym, I have to add it to our budget. So, we haven't joined yet. I watched a YouTube video where this guy (I've seen his videos before) takes ground beef and makes it 4 different ways. I liked the idea of 3 of the 4 recipes so I saved them and made one of them last night: Indian-Inspired Keema Curry. It was really easy to make and would have been better than it was had I added 2 more tsp of salt and 1 more tsp of curry powder. I will make it again. Here's the video, in case you want to check it out:

I'll check it out! I got tired of trying to figure out meals, so I got Hello Fresh this week and next. Just give me a break from thinking about it. Next week I got a very decadent Mac and Cheese, which will be mega calories. I have until Friday to change my mind lol. Cause I am on the fence about it.
It's weird when I get random friend requests on MFP from people I have no idea who they are. Some guy requested it yesterday. I just tend to to deny everything unless I know for sure who it is.
Hope you both have a good holiday. I thought it was weird though bc MLB had their memorial day caps last weekend…..maybe it was something else.

@trooworld The baked beans were really good. I followed the recipe as written except I used 3 cans of navy beans instead of the kinds listed. I have made this recipe several times and everyone likes it. It is sweet enough but not as sweet as canned baked beans. I’m glad grocery shopping was easy and you enjoyed the ground beef recipe. @its_cleo I also get random friend requests and delete them. Memorial Day in the US is always the last Monday in May. Hi, all. It’s damp and dreary here. I did go for a walk. I also went grocery shopping for a few things we need for tomorrow’s dinner. Dinner tonight is grilled chicken sausages, air fried French fries, salad and leftover baked beans.

@its_cleo It is tiring, figuring out meals. I hope you like the Hello Fresh meals. Mac and Cheese...yum, that's one thing I can't have since my surgery. I've had a Lean Cuisine with mac and cheese but not the good kind lol. I get those requests, too, on occasion and I just ignore them or deny them. They are probably scams, and if they aren't, there is no way to interact besides direct messaging. It's not like I can add a supportive message to their MFP wall or anything, so I figure, why bother? I did have a nice weekend, thanks!
@fabgeekmom Oh that's good to know. I loved baked beans but can't have really sweet ones. Maybe I'll give that recipe a try. Good job with the walk! Sorry about the weather. Sounds like a nice and easy dinner.
Hello all. Yesterday was pretty nice: we took the dogs for a longer walk (as long as the dogs would walk...Daisy stops walking after a certain distance), then dropped them off at home and went to a coffee shop and read. Came home and took a nice nap. It was relaxing. I made dinner: Chicken Tikka Kebab and grilled zucchini slabs. I was supposed to use the grill for both of these but didn't feel like messing with it so I cooked the chicken on the stove and used the oven for the zucchini. The chicken was the best thing I've made in a while. Today is back to work. It's nice that it is Tuesday though, the week will go by quickly! We have plans to join the gym on Friday.

@trooworld Yesterday sounded really relaxing. Glad you got to rest. The chicken sounded good. Sometimes I cook indoors instead of on the grill. Luckily DS doesn’t mind grilling. Hi, all. It’s still cloudy but not as dismal as yesterday. I walked outdoors and it was nice. Tonight DS is grilling chicken unless it rains.
0 -
@fabgeekmom It was, thanks. The chicken was oustanding, it was a Skinnytaste recipe. I wouldn't mind grilling but our grill is electric and I would have to drag out this heavy extension cord, plug everything in, and then sometimes it triggers the electric so I just didn't want to deal with that lol. That's good you wetn for a nice walk. Hopefully it didn't rain.
Hi all. My husband has come down with a cold and feels awful so I don't know that we will go on Friday to sign up for the gym but, as long as I don't catch his cold, I will go sometime before Sunday evening. I am determined to sign up for the gym. Last night, there was a planned electrical outage all night so I didn't sleep with the air conditioner on like usual. Because of this, I only slept a little over 4 hours and am exhausted. I made a good recipe last night: Farro With Blistered Tomatoes, Pesto and Spinach. It's a NY Times recipe. I made homemade pesto for it. The recipe turned out really well.

@trooworld I don’t blame you about not using the electric grill. The NYT recipe sounds good. Too bad about your husband having a cold. My son is almost over his cold. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. My son and I are going to Yellowstone on Sunday. I can’t wait. Traveling with him is so much fun. This afternoon we went to REI to buy puffer jackets as it’s going to be cold there. Tonight we are eating last night’s leftovers.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Thanks, it was a good recipe. That's good your son is almost over his cold. My throat feels a little like I am going to get sick. Good job with the swim! How fun to go to Yellowstone. I've never been there. I hope you enjoy it!
Hi all. I've been doing really well with limiting snacking: yesterday and today, I did not get into any snacks in the afternoon. Not to say that they were necessarily unhealthy snacks (although sometimes the snacks were chips), but I'm trying to tolerate being a little hungry. I don't need to give in every time I am hungry. I think I may be on the verge of getting my DH's cold: my throat is a little wonky, and my nose is a little stopped up. I've been drinking more water: I realized that I do better when I track my water intake. Every time I tick off another bottle of water in my tracker, it's like a little celebration. I drank 72 oz yesterday and the day before.

@trooworld I think it’s a good idea to ignore hunger unless you are really hungry. I try to find something to distract me if I know I have eaten recently. It’s too bad are coming down with a cold. Hopefully you’ll recover soon. Hi, all. It was warmer today with no rain so I went for a walk. I went grocery shopping. I went to my usual store to get what I needed and then to another to get the bread I like. Dinner is last Saturday’s stuffed shells that I froze.
0 -
@fabgeekmom I agree. Maybe it was just allergies, I feel fine today. We'll see. Good job with the walk, I'm glad the weather was better. I know you are glad to have the grocery shopping done.
Hi all. I did pretty well yesterday but I did end up having a snack in the afternoon: I knew I had to run an errand after work and I was already hungry so I had one of those Hillshire Farms mini charcuterie plates. At least it wasn't chips and had protein in it. I will celebrate that. Today, I have to get a gallbladder ultrasound (this stems from the pains I was having in my stomach a few months ago...it is finally arranged to have it!) and the blood work drawn for my 6 month appointment with the surgeon (in June). I can't eat anything until after 10:45 and I can't drink any water until about 8:30. So, I'm really thirsty right now! I lost 2.6 lbs for a total of 62.4 lbs.

@trooworld I’m glad you’re feeling better. That was a good idea to eat a snack. Good job on the weight loss. I hope the test goes well. I hate to have to fast for any test that requires it. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I made a succotash salad from the ATK app for dinner. I have some shrimp that I’m going to pan fry.
0 -
I don’t grill anything, maybe I should. I never barbecued, bc I was always in an apartment and they don’t like you to do it on the balcony. In the condo now, I don’t have a balcony. I thought about buying an indoor grill, but I never have. I still have to check out air fryers.
@trooworld for the gym- make sure you confirm how to cancel lol. With stuff like that, I always try to check how easy it will be to cancel if I want to. …Congrats on the weight loss! I hope all the tests go ok.
@fabgeekmom I’ve been trying to ignore hunger and eliminate snacking, too. For me it’s mostly around 3 or 4pm that gets me lol. ….I would love to go to Yellowstone. I love places like that. I hope you have fun!
I’ve wrestled my weight down half a pound. I’m working on some new goals for June. I want to make some goals around how often I eat take out. My other goal is to do pilates and yoga once a week. I’ve been doing well exercising, mostly the physio exercises, but I have been walking a tiny bit more and no pain.
Today there is a farmer’s market starting up for the summer- it’s very close to me, so I will go check it out this morning. Making cauliflower soup for lunch. Then pilates at noon.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Thank you on all accounts! Yeah, it kind of sucked to fast that long lol. Good job with the swim! That sounds like a good, healthy dinner.
@its_cleo I have an electric grill that can function as a smoker. I like it BUT it often trips our electrical circuit because it is so powerful. Oh good tip about canceling. It's spelled out in the contract I signed (I joined, I think you have to let them know 30 days ahead of time). Thanks! Congrats on the loss! That's a great idea to make a goal around take out. And the pilates/yoga goal is a good idea too. I'm glad you aren't having pain, maybe the exercises are helping. I love going to farmers' markets. There are a lot here. The fruits and veggies are not cheaper than the grocery store, they are more expensive, but they are better quality so I occasionally buy something. Enjoy your day!
Hi all. I got all my tests done and because I had to fast with no coffee until after my 10:15 appt, and I didn't have actual coffee until 3:30 pm due to circumstances, I had a wicked caffeine headache! But once I got coffee, it magically went away. One of the appointments was for a cortisone shot in my knee as the last one is starting to wear out. Well, I did it! I joined the bare-bones gym last night. I'm a little intimidated by it only because I don't know where specific equipment is and I don't want to get in people's way looking for what I want to use. But I should be fine once I get used to it. My husband joined with me. He said he was only joining for me, to be supportive (awwww!). He already works out at home with all our equipment. Today, I have to install an exhibit for work and will need to work for a couple of hours. At least I'll get paid!
