I saw limited edition pumpkin spice oreos a few months back and never tried them before, so I bought them, but they're way too sweet. One is my limit.0 -

kale
tofu noodles
kombucha
Water infused with veggies
Smoothies with spinach
popcorn in a bag (I don't understand why this is so popular, there is literally a whole entire aisle at my grocery store dedicated to already prepopped bagged popcorn)
Kombucha is so good though. Drinking some now GT's Trilogy
my favorite!
I still have no idea what kombucha is.0 -

Agreed all they are, are just smoothies with more fruit and nuts on top which were already blended in them in the first place.1

Regarding pumpkin ...
So I see everyone going on about spiced pumpkin lattes and things ... and that's just not appealing at all. But give me a pumpkin and curry soup, and I'm there.
Its not a pumpkin latte, its pumpkin pie SPICE. it's the SEASONING used in the pie, not the pumpkin.4 -

Yeah, yeah ... flavouring. The flavour of pumpkin + cinnamon + nutmeg, etc. But it is sweet and pumpkin is just not meant to be sweet.
Much better to have actual pumpkin, roasted or creamed into soup with savoury spices.

There are also a lot of products that you wouldn't think had gluten in them that do. Having dealt with severe food allergies for years the label doesn't seem weird to me.
Hubby and daughter have Celiac, so while I might snicker at "gluten free carrots," I've read enough labels to know that somewhere there are carrots with added gluten that are waiting out there to haunt us.5 -
I don't listen to any of them. Yes they might be good for you but there are like a million other foods that do the same thing.1

so is fresh-pressed juice
With chia seeds, I got two packs for entering a 5k. I made my dad some chia pudding and really wanted to try some, so I made a small batch for myself.

joshperson195 wrote: »Me? Hummus. Can't stand the stuff.
Hummus is probably the oldest known prepared food in the world. It has at least a 1000 year history and is an essential part of many world cuisines.
It could not be less trendy.7 -
I'll second powdered peanut butter. It's a doppleganging abomination.1

I'm glad someone else has already posted this. It has been around since at least the 13th century. Eat what you want and don't let others judge you.3 -

Anything organic. I just can't bring myself to buy it. In fact, I have paid MORE to have non-organic carrots when my regular ones were out of stock and the only other options were organic or super expensive.2

Never had kale chips but man I love me some kale. If hummus can't be trendy because it's been around forever then neither can kale. Kale is hardly a new vegetable.2 -
Coconut water. Someone once gave me one to try, and called it amazing. Umm, no, I found it disgusting. Not going to buy that. Ever.

They may have been around forever, but I think by trendy, it means that they've become more popular or are trending.
Fresh kale is OK. Kale chips are crap.0 -

most gluten free things taste like *kitten*.
And I don't understand peoples obsession with them. Either you have an intolerance/sensitivity or you're an idiot- because they generally are not tasty and there is 100% no reason to go out of your way to purchase gluten free. It's more expensive and tastes worse. So- don't. Unless you have an actual f*****g issue.
Exactly. And they were freaking CORN chips!
Speaking as a person with celiac disease here, items intrinsically without gluten like corn chips aren't necessarily gluten free. If a company like Frito Lay (using them as an example, Tostitos are gluten free) also makes a multi-grain chip, there could be danger of cross contamination on the line unless they go through a very rigorous process of cleaning their equipment or use separate, dedicated lines for just their corn chips.
Keeping food items safe for consumption by celiacs is a bit more complicated than just starting with gluten free ingredients.
For items like the bagged carrots or bottled water, I agree that the gluten free label is silly. But you'd be surprised where you can find gluten, and it might not even be readily apparent on the label.
While I'm a vegetarian, I know a lot of celiacs have to struggle with the issue of the Thanksgiving turkey. The solution many birds are injected with is not always gluten free, for example. Not all canned tuna is gluten free.
It can be a minefield.
I also have celiac disease and agree with the above. It's not always a marketing ploy! Shared fryers and assembly lines can contaminate naturally gluten free foods so most of the time when companies label something like corn chips gluten free it's to indicate they aren't sharing lines with gluten ingredients. Trust me gluten containing corn chips are out there...my mother-in-law managed to buy some crazy multi-grain corn chips once that basically took away the only thing I could've eaten at the get together she was hosting.
Also I'm totally cool with people who aren't celiac eating gluten free. The extra interest in gluten free foods has really improved the quality and taste of things for those of us who do have to ingest them! They still aren't perfect but they keep getting closer! The only thing I'm not cool with is when people act gluten free at restaurants and waste time quizzing the waiter on the menu and then eat a gluten filled dessert or drink a beer. So that basically gives the wait staff the idea that it's no big deal and they don't need to take the requests seriously.8 -
Quest bars
Muscle Milk
I hate fitness-related foods.1 -
Pumpkins spice ANYTHING; gluten free anything; yogurt anything.
Which isn't to say that I don't like pumpkin spicing, foods that are gluten free, or yogurt. But I'm not going to trend-buy them because of those labels.0
