Not even worth my responses either. Bunch of closed minded know it alls who apparently must have degrees in nutrition themselves or be dietitians, etc... Guess one is not allowed to express their opinion or personal experiences on here without being critiqued by strong minded individuals who can't at least have replies that are not sarcastic or judgmental.

Have a great day and I wish for positive vibes to come your way. How you treat others is a reflection of you and will be your kharma. Thank you all for making me feel so horrible about posting on here.

    I don't believe in karma....

    ...or detox smoothies.

The concept of karma has really been twisted into something vengeful, which ironically would bring bad karma to the person wishing bad karma on the person who wronged them. I'll leave it at that, because I could angry rant about it for a while. Plus it's an unneeded tangent that would add nothing to the topic at hand.

And would only bring bad karma back to you. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! :)

    Right?!?

    Whew, that was close!

    I know! Crisis narrowly averted.

I am currently on day 7 of the JJ Smith 10 day cleanse I can say that it has gotten me out of my Sugar/bread/meat cravings and I feel good. I am doing the full cleanse for 10 days then going to do the modified cleanse which is two smoothies and snacks and 1 clean meal. I think I have gotten control of my eating habits and I am ready to continue this lifestyle change of eating cleaner and staying away from foods that are unhealthy or at least being able to control my eating habits. I also plan on staying with a paleo with minimal dairy low carb clean eating lifestyle. Am I trying to do to much too soon?

I think I understand what you mean when you say "cleanse" your not saying detoxing, the "cleanse" is more "mindful" and it is keeping you away from the foods you crave, its a healthier option that will assist in breaking of a habit of unhealthy food. I say good for you. You know yourself better than anyone and what will work for you. Good luck, I too am trying down thirty something lbs now. Still have a way to go.

"Cleanse" means to make clean or to remove as if by cleaning. Are you suggesting that OP did not mean what he said, but that he instead meant to use a different word (such as mindful, which does not mean the same thing as "cleanse" at all)?

I am a fan of mindful eating, as well as mindfulness in some other contexts, but don't see what it has to do with "cleansing" or green smoothie diet plans, and another poster helpfully provided information from the book in question and, sadly, it does seem to be about "cleansing" and "detox," not mindful eating.

As for breaking a habit of eating unhealthy food, you mean eating a healthy diet? That involves more than eating some green smoothies and generally is not going to mean a diet based on green smoothies (although I am a fan of smoothies as noted above).

Just my opinion but think some of you are being a bit too critical. Just because something isn't for you doesn't mean it isn't great for someone else. I came across JJ Smiths book when searching for Green Smoothie recipes, as I wanted to incorporate more of these into my diet. I very loosely followed the plan along with high protein meals as well as shakes (since I drink protein shakes after workouts). She doesn't say you have to strictly do the cleanse and gives information how to modify. The author is a certified nutritionist and explains in great detail the importance of greens in your diet as well as the elimination of foods out of your system. This book is about a lifestyle change, which is key to any success to weight loss and good health.

You do realize that becoming a "certified nutritionist" is like getting a mail-order university degree from "prestigious non-accredited" universities. There are a billion scammers out there running on-line certifications that are completely meaningless. If the author were a Registered Dietician they would enjoy some credibility (but even then there are RDs that promote pseudoscience like cleanses and detoxes)

I was talking to a trainer at my gym and she said she was going to school to take nutrition and I commented on how it was a tough course with biology, biochem, organic chem, etc and she said that she was talking a one year cert in "holistic nutrition", whatever that means, and that it didn't have "those" courses but it was hard because you had to do "a bunch of cases".

I had to turn my head but I'm sure she heard my eyes roll.

ETA: for comparison here is the nutrition and dietetics course from my alma mater that qualifies for an RD certification http://www.westerncalendar.uwo.ca/2015/pg1479.html

I also found the place where she is getting her training and it's full of conspiracy theories. Worse than I thought.

I have learned so much from reading these types of threads. I was one who bought into starvation mode and cleaning toxins out of your body. But after I read some of the responses, albeit some were sarcastic, when you think about it, it's common sense. For example, toxins that's why you have a liver and kidney. When I thought about it I was like "Hmm yeah that's true!!" LOL

So thank you guys because it saved me from a lot of unnecessary whohah!

Hopefully it saved you both time and money as well as frustration! :)

I continue to be amazed by your comments even after the moderators post. I don't appreciate being attacked like I personally wrote the book. If any of you actually took the time to read my posts you would see that I did NOT do a cleanse and don't promote cleansing or juicing or fads, etc... For the 4th time, I utilized information from her book to incorporate more greens (in the form of smoothies) in my diet as well as learning about ways to remove food/waste from my body. I consult with my doctor and a nutritionist and both were supportive of my dietary changes, including the smoothies. So stop insinuating things I never said (like I did a cleanse or drink a green smoothie just to release toxins, etc...) and take the time to stop being so critical and read what I actually write. I used the book as a tool, not a sole tool but one of many. You act like your opinions are the only ones that matter.

If your goal is to discourage people from expressing themselves on this forum then you have succeeded in doing so with me. It's not simply a person being sensitive but a matter of respect. Now I am left with a very negative feeling about this app and definitely do not like the so called "community" atmosphere some of you create. I may look to another app to track my food and fitness in because the atmosphere here is too disrespectful and critical.

I really wish some of you would consider there is an actual person behind every post. It truly is sad people treat others this way as if they are right about everything and don't even bother to read what I had said to be a personal experience.

I'm completely done with wasting my time on responding anymore. Some of you have nothing better to do than say thing I didn't say, assume things I didn't do and drill me like I authored the book. So please get off my case and find something better to do with your time. You have done enough damage to me.

A few of the posters have been rude with you, and that's not called for.

    BUT.

You are being too defensive; take a step back, breathe, and think about why you're here. You don't have to agree with everyone, and they don't have to agree with you. If something works for you, keep doing it. If you find it's not working anymore, adjust.

    And lastly:

No one wants to damage you!!! We're all here for similar reasons, and almost all the members will try their best to help you to be successful. Please don't give up! xo
