I caught up reading and appreciate everyone's updates. Today was disappointing with a weight gain. This is the second week in a row that the scale showed I better pay more attention to my diet. Exercise is not the problem but I eat the calories back and it isn't what I should be doing. Today I've decided not to eat back my exercise calories and hopefully next Friday will see a bit of a loss. The more active I am, the hungrier I seem to be. Yikes! Thanks everyone for sharing, I enjoy this group.

KJLaMore (KJ / Kelly) I just "followed" John Garza bicycles America page on FB. I am intrigued to see the stories! Always wanted to do something like that but never brave enough! :)

    Karen NY - Happy 55!!!

Barbie: I'm so excited to hear about Bess! She is so lucky you found her. I can't wait to hear more about her and maybe see some pics. I have a black lab right now but grew up with springer spaniels and had one that crossed the rainbow bridge about 6 years ago. Love them! so sweet!

Pip, Kate, Sharon and Marnie - Great pictures! Thank you for sharing.

Paula: I'm so sorry for your loss also. We lost my brother when he was 11. It tore our family apart and life was never the same. I miss him still, and that was 42 years ago. I cannot imagine the pain had he been my child. (((HUGS)))

Janet, Love that inspirational poster. It is SO TRUE! Always a good reminder.

Tomorrow, my daughter (Kelly) and granddaughter (Brittney) are going shopping. Brittney is expecting twin boys and has a c-section scheduled February 13th (or 14th?) if she doesn't go into labor before then. We're taking her shopping to buy all the things she didn't get at the baby shower and still needs...mostly little stuff like bottles, pacifiers, socks, onsies, etc. It was a stressful week at work and I'm exhausted but I am really looking forward to this. A girls' afternoon and lunch together will be nice.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm heading to bed early so I can rest and not be crabby tomorrow with my girls.

DJ - He said this morning that he feels that what I want dominates the holiday and makes him stressed and tense. I'm always finding fault, nothing's ever right and he just wants to relax and have a quiet life. He forgets about it afterwards. ;) I think he was really worn out with worrying about me. But he can be very passive and just puts up with things. I won't.

The Chicken Pibil was great and really did sizzle! I tried to drink a beer, but couldn't manage more than a sip. On the way home we stopped for a tequila between us and I had a little. A very nice matured one. It's nice being out on the streets at night here - feels very safe. Not a lot of people smoke, which is great for DH and I rarely see anyone but tourists drinking alcohol in public. Mexicans drink far too many sugary soft drinks, but there are also wonderful juices, all freshly made. My favourite is lime and chaya - a kind of palm leaf that is used for juicing, cooking and in lovely soups, which I had tonight. It is a much nicer night time atmosphere than Britain, where drinking can turn ugly.

    And on we go!

Heather, moving on to Cichen Itza.

    Welcome newbies!

Went to exercise then went to the lady who does my sewing. Took Jess' quilt to her and she does think that she can quilt it using her machine. I don't have any idea how to go about it. Then went to play mahjongg. Home for dinner then we went over the house of one of the gals I play mahjongg with on Mondays. Vince had helped her buy a laptop and we went so he could set it up for her.

Re - it always seems that I need a larger size in a bathingsuit. Don't forget that pizza also has veggies (tomato sauce), dairy (cheese), and fiber (the crust). OK, may not be a lot of fiber, but as you can see, pizza is good food to have....

Joyce - you certainly do need a new stove

DJ - we have a membership at Sam's but I'm the same way. I don't shop there much because of the large quantities. Yes, many times it does work out cheaper. But it isn't cheaper if I wind up throwing half of it away. I will go there if I need a large quantity of something like for a party or something.

Good evening. Just a quick hello before I crash. I'm so tired. Four days of planning and healthy choices feels really good. Still not hitting my step goal but making the effort to stay busy and moving.
Good news, my daughter did not give in to temptation. She admitted she thought about but came home sober and feeling good about her choice. She wasn't fired after all but I wish she had quit. Two customers walked their check and the manager said she could pay their ticket or be fired. It took every tip she had earned last night to pay it and she came home with nothing. My husband and I both told her she should have quit.
Good night friends. Welcome newbies. I haven't been here a long time myself but have found it to be a welcoming place. Sweet dreams

pyanko7 - Welcome! I'm just one of several quilters lurking on the thread. I am retired and enjoy having as much time as I want to have fun and use my creativity to make quilts.

Tell us the name you would like to be known as and your goals if you are willing to share.

    Hey now...

Tablet took a dump on me last night. Same symptoms as it's predecessor so took it back to Best Buy, AGAIN, this time I told them I wanted something different as I didn't want to exchange it and have the third one of the same thing do the same thing the last two did. So this time I picked out an Amazon Kindle Fire they had for the same price and they swapped it out. Only problem with this one is after I downloaded the MFP app it wouldn't let me log in, can only log in on the website. But I think it's just the app and not the new tablet. The other tablet wouldn't let me stream movies or videos, but this Fire works beautifully and can stream any movie or video I want! So that's a big bonus. The other tablet was 8" where this Fire is 7", but am quickly getting used to the little smaller size and they are both 16GB so didn't lose any storage space. Saved all my pics on the other one to Google but haven't quite figured how to get them back from my Google storage online onto this one. I'm pretty sure it can be done somehow, just gonna take a little while to figure it out.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Karen! Just thought I would check in. Busy downloading all my apps to this tablet so will post more tomorrow. Hope everybody has a fine evening! Peace!!

pip - It looks like 'wisteria' which is pretty but, extremely invasive. If you like it then suggest you either plant it so it will go up a trellis or one stand-alone bush, then keep it trimmed so the tops won't touch the ground that will allow it to set knew roots than continue to spread ... When we build out house (as a child) it had purple blossoms but they do come in white and a pale pink.

DJ (Janet #1) - wrote "I have been having such problems with my eyes itching lately. I woke up with it this morning and they have itched all day. I use antihistamine eye drops but something sure has them going."

Same thing going on with me all week, weatherman said tree pollen is high. My ears are full and my eyes are driving me nuts. Headache all week long. Ugh. Hope you feel better soon.

Kate - Such a cute photo of your granddaughter and great granddaughter. Your nails look spiffy. There's no way I can do my own

Allie- I misunderstood, thought you had 3 days off in a row.
A tea pot and a cozy, that will be nice. I would love to see a picture of the cozy with all the charms.

Penny- There is just something so mysterious and romantic sounding about the "Arctic"
The lecture sound like it was very interesting.

Karen NY - Happy 55th! Hope you had a very special day. There must be a lot of celebrating at your house. Happy Anniversary also.
Congratulations on your win. Scrabble is one of my favourite games.

Kelly - What an adventure your cousin is having! I will be checking out his site.

Barbie - I bet you can't wait for Sunday. Bess is a lucky dog to make her forever home with you. Pictures please.

Lenora - CPP is Canada Pension Plan

Machete66 - Fine with me. You might get tired of chick chat though.

Yvonne - All that climbing must have burnt some calories.

Michele - It was so sad for my Mom. She never talked about that first baby while we were growing up. I found out by overhearing some women gossip. My Dad had the funeral with just himself and the minister. My Mom had to stay in the hospital as they thought she was going to die also. 15 years ago we searched out the site and I convinced my siblings to put up a headstone. When asked why she had never visited the grave before, Mom's reply was "We had 4 living children that needed raising"

Katla - I hope that mucking out the stall never hits the list. I don't think I could pay to move horse manure.

Pip - The portrait is as lovely as the first time I saw it. Talented lady.

Joyce- I think your poor old stove deserves to "retire".
    Happy shopping.

Tracie - How exciting! Twin boys. Valentine's Day is going to be interesting as you welcome 2 little sweethearts.

DJ - Yes, Keira, is our soon to be seven years old granddaughter.
You've been a good friend so maybe it is time for her to hire a rental agent.

Heather - It sounds as if your holiday is getting back on track. Your poor DH, the stress of worrying over you must have got to him.

I was at work at 6 a.m. and home by 8 a.m. I didn't feel well and napped off and on until 1.
I went and picked up the grandkids from school. It is so hard talking to my DGS these days. We used to be so close. Some of it is teen age stuff but some of it seems to be something else. He lied about his assignments to his parents. It is so unlike this boy. I am worried for him. He doesn't want to do much or see anyone. He has had the stomach issues ongoing and they seem to be worse this year. Thank goodness his appointment is on Monday.
Keira and I counted out her money that she has saved at our house. She took $7 and we went to the dollar store. She thoroughly enjoyed the shopping but was less than thrilled about the GST. "Grandma, adults vote. Right?" "Then why don't they vote for no tax?" Lol, if only. She made wise decisions.
Took Keira home and watched Family Feud with her brother.
Tonight Larry and I went out for Nachos at the Casino. They were a disappointment.
Still doing No Sugar. The rows of candy bars taunted me at the dollar store. Larry had ice cream with caramel sauce tonight. Did I think it would be easy? Will the cravings go away one day?
Christmas party tomorrow night. I will eat before we go as I am not going near the pizza.

Morning ladies, as usual woke up super early so am enjoying a coffee and a little reading up on you busy folks.

Dry, itchy eyes--I don't think my problem is pollen, too much screen time and I think I am not drinking enough water. Last month I drank 64 oz of water a day and guess what? My eyes felt better, this week I didn't have the thermos and woke up this morning With gritty dry eyes-connection??

A stove that has serviced you for 40 years! I think you've got your money's worth , time to switch it out----things will cook more efficiently saving even more money ;)

Rori looking forward to meeting up this Tuesday and we will share a photo op with you all-how lovely!!

Betty Feeling your pain re: wanting to retire.

Rori I think it was you with a retirement countdown? I am chuckling, it appears several of us are doing this. I am thinking of changing mine from days to either hours or weeks, not sure which way I want to go. :p

Beth Hope you found your gym LOL!

    RE Happy Birthday! <3

NYKAREN Happy Birthday! And Anniversary! Glad it was a nice day! And that you won at Scrabble - Bonus!! <3

Marni Tucks work better than popsicles? HaHaHaHaHa!!! Love the baby moose.

Sharon Picture of a lovely princess. Hope your shield worked for you. Very poignant words in your mother's written history. So much pain in so few words.

Kate The great-granddaughter is a lovely mess!

Penny Hope you enjoy your ties-and-tails event in Stockholm. And the "Sounds of the Arctic" is something I would like to hear. Sounds fabulous; it may be the closest I ever get to actually hearing the wonder.

Heather So glad you have recovered enough to enjoy your trip! Sorry your husband is having some moments.

Katla You sound like a regular horsewoman now, so confident and happy! It's lovely to hear your joy!

    Pip Great photo art!

Barbie Can't wait to see your new fur baby!

Off to work this morning. Hope you all have a nice weekend!
