pip- wishing you the best!
Mary from Minnesota2 -
TGIF ladies!
Pip! Wow, staffing is changing fast at your work this morning. Keep us posted! I’m on edge, lol. I’ve worked jobs where “reorgs” happen very quickly and things are in flux for a few days. Crossing fingers you get to move downstairs!
Barbie, I finally looked up “line dancing” and if it’s the group dancing that cowboys (and cowgirls!) do, that looks like a wonderful cardio exercise and calorie burner. Like choreographed aerobics. Is that what you are teaching? I remember taking square dance and folk dance in college (had to have PE credits) and really enjoyed it – group dancing gives the whole room energy!
Heather, glad your cheque deposit got straightened out….and that your insurance company agreed to foot most of the bill for you. Whew, that is finally wrapped up!
Marcelyn, hopefully the new arrival gets here quickly with minimum fuss and muss and your daughter can get some relief!
Joyce, house slippers seem to be the #1 item on my list as well most of the time. Happy Birthday! Glad that pillow is helping and I’m hoping the steroid pack gets you back in good shape. I tend to get joint bleeds in my feet and hands – blood vessel breaks if I step funny or lift a pail of water and the handle digs into my fingers-very painful bruises. Last year I got a painful “stone bruise” behind my big toe that wouldn’t go away until I had a cortisone shot in it. It’s a thing I inherited from my mom and likely related to Vitamin K which I might not be absorbing. Haven’t gotten one in quite a while.
Meredith, glad you survived the house move and sorry your kitty is missing. Hopefully she’ll realize where the food is and show up again and stick close to you! DH and I were just talking the other night about when we sell this place and move into town onto a smaller lot…what to do about our outside kitty who now has acres to roam and no busy street to worry about. This is the only neighborhood she has known and we don’t want an “indoor” cat again – allergies. She does come in the house to visit every day and take a nap on my chair. So I guess the solution is we stay here until the cat goes across the rainbow bridge? We love our fur babies!
Lisa, fascinating info about the Supertaster. I’ve noticed that I now seem to crave more highly spiced and flavorful foods (whether my tummy likes them or not!). I like veggies that crunch like carrots and raw broccoli and eat them with hummus – extra garlic is fine by me. Glad Corey is on the mend -I’ll bet he’s getting a bit of cabin fever and working thru the painful exercises will pay off. Glad the 70% check is coming through for you guys.
I went to work yesterday, spent 4 hours cleaning out files-mainly standing with a little walking and occasional sitting. Haven’t done that in a long time, but knee didn’t bother me a bit and the lifting/stacking full banker’s boxes was fine. Gettin’ in shape here for dragging potting soil around, lol.
I am scheduled to work 4 hrs each Monday throughout March and a possible Thursday if there’s heavy payables input. I am happy with that, I get to spend a little time with my peeps and earn a bit of $$. It’s still up in the air if my “job-share” gal is coming back full time (and my position eliminated). It’s all good.
I’ve been using the Voltaren for a week – it’s not helping my kneecap at all and there’s a rash developing where I’ve been applying it – I’ve stopped using it. So, twanged nerve it is somewhere along the circuit and I’ll just have to deal with it and practice kneeling with only right knee on the ground. Perhaps it will get better on its own, sometimes these things do.
Make it a great day, gals!

Joyce Happy Birthday :flowerforyou:
Lisa I learned from a nurse if you are a smoker you need to be honest with doctor. Although he or she will more than likely know because of smell. I can tell when my son is smoking because of this reason. My nurse friend told me that smoking effects the meds you are on.
Lisa now that you quit if you are on any medications let doctor know because it might effect your dose.
DH didn't smoke much but he did like to smoke in the evening and have a couple drinks a day. This coupled with the stress we were under as a family probably is the cause of his cancer. Unfortunately there is no test for kidney cancer.
I am trying to remember no kind of stress is worth your health. Easier said then done.

Joyce... Happy Birthday today! Hope today is wonderful and this next year is filled with good health and good times.
Sharon from Ontario... my challenge this week of no bread, alcohol, pasta or sweets but with 8 cups of water, 1 hour or more of exercise and 1 citrus fruit daily..was okay and not as difficult as I thought. I lost 1lb and had lots of energy. I missed bread but added extra veggies and fruit.
Pip...Wishing you well...
Thinking of Olivia, such sweet pictures.
Happy Friday everyone.

Poor DH is in the first stages of my cold. Horrible sore throat like a knife. I am still snuffly, but my energy is fine now.
Just done an online order to be delivered on Sunday. I note from previous postings that this isn't common in the US. We Brits are just lazy! Actually it is the only place we can get a brand of pastis that we love so we buy several bottles at a time, so we might as well get other stuff while I'm at it. Also do wonderful organic Mozzarella from local buffaloes! The most amazing roasted artichokes and a delicious focaccia.
Am I making you hungry?
Lamb and flageolets stew this evening. All cooked now. Green beans with it. I like to get my food all prepped and preferably cooked after lunch so I'm not having to do it in the early evening. :noway:
Did some memoir this afternoon.

Happy Friday! Someone asked about ground turkey and how to keep it from being dry....just learned this trick, I added grated apple to the turkey! Wow, it was tasty.
You know how we sometimes get in a rut of eating poorly and gain weight, well I can say right now that is behind me, cause I am losing again after gaining or maintaining for at least 4 months. I am making good food choices and exercising but really don't know why the weight has started to come off, cause I was doing that before! Perhaps it is the hope of Spring, but if I can keep on doing it, I will be at my goal weight by summer! Woot!!
I'm ready for a spring cleaning kind of weekend. NYKAREN5 -
Sharon in Lethbridge: Cookies are one of my fatal attractions. I can leave them in the store or I can buy just one or two. If I make a batch, I eat it. As a result, I haven't baked cookies in several years. :ohwell:
Gloria: We haven't heard from Sherry or Kim in quite a while. I think Kim is in touch with Sherry, though. I hope things are going okay.
Heather: Split peas make me gassy. It is so uncomfortable that flavor & nutrition don't enter the decision process. :noway:
Lisa: Sending good thoughts for Corey's complete recovery. It is likely to take a bit of time to get all the way back to full strength & flexibility. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Sending good thoughts your way. I hope the work situation improves for you.
Joyce: Happy Birthday!!!
I have yoga this morning and horse time this afternoon. I won't ride today because I can't risk getting hurt until after DH's eyes heal and he can see to drive again. It is shaping up to be a very good day. I had to miss two yoga classes & dinner out with three dear friends this week due to DH's medical appointments. We're keeping our fingers crossed that his eye is doing well enough for the scheduled surgery next week. If not, he has to wait another whole month. That would be a disappointing & cruel situation for him.

Labor pains for about six hours yesterday, serious contractions not the Braxton-Hicks things. She went to bed to get some rest and they stopped. Hopefully they did some good though. She's at the point of tears today and called and said she's bringing the other three kids out and with their bikes and we can go walk together. The baby is so low that now that she's hurting to sit, stand, move, not move. I remember it well with my last one. Actually 3 of my 4 were late so I understand.
I have a concert (a lovely classical quartet) to go to tonight and my husband and I were meeting our other daughter for dinner beforehand. We shall see if I make it. I'm kind of torn, would like the baby to come, would like to make the concert. (how silly is that!) I'm "on call" for taking the other three kids when she heads off to the birthing center. I told her to be done and home before 5 or don't leave until after 10. She just rolled her eyes and said that she's sure the baby will listen to me because it obviously isn't listening to her. lol We shall see how she is feeling after our walking this afternoon.
Really being bad with food. I'm staying busy but in the evening because I'm on my own I tend to snack. I really need to stop that!

Marcelyn ~ Great news! So happy for you and your daughter.
Joyce ~ Happy Birthday!
I made a philly cheese steak lunch today with very lean leftover roast beef, green bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions. NO BREAD! Yummy!3 -
For those trying to maintain motivation, someone else brought up a calendar, and it reminded me of a productivity hack that I read about. (It was a Jerry Seinfeld thing.) I've been using it since I got back up on this horse, and it's weirdly effective. It's called "don't break the chain." You know we all like it when we see how long we've been logging into MFP, and it builds on that.
For every day I stay within my calories, I make a top left to bottom right diagonal mark on the day of the calendar in pink highlighter. For every day I work out like I'm supposed to, I make a top right to bottom left on that day. That gives me an X. At the end of the week, I'll get a horizontal line through the whole week if I make my 2.5 pound goal. Next month, once I'm habitual with everything, I'll get a vertical line through a day if I make my macro goal--which is 85-100 grams of protein each day.
It's weird, but I really want to keep making those X's... and to eventually turn them into asterisks. I don't want any blank days. And that's the key, I think, is that all you have to do is not to break the chain. Keeps things simpler.
Do y'all have any interesting things you do that make it easier for you to either keep going or get going again when you stall or lose motivation?
Regards,
Lisa in West Texas4 -
Lisa- great plan to keep yourself accountable! I journal. I have a weekly planner. I write out weekly goals. Exercise is a priority. I do it everyday even if I have to do it before bed. I set my alarm for every hour to get up and do something for at least 10 minutes. I preplan my meals to meet my macro and calorie goals. No processed foods or sugar except if I plan for it, or if I can't stop the craving but then it has to be part of my daily calories. I use gel pens preferably glitter

Well I am down to last weeks weigh in. What? My body freaks every Wed. Which is cruel karma!
What I have to do is look at the week as a whole. In the scheme of things there is a downward trend. Oye, talking like its the stock market!!! Haha.

Becca, do you put the jar lid in the oven or in a pan on the stove. Those look like perfect eggs. Well except for the spices you have on them.
One good thing about deleting this Facebook game is that I would always get notifications about the game on my home page so I kept posting to my home page 'to me only'. Now it is open to friends only. I will never make it public. No telling what kind of trash I would get.
Well the cheapo slippers were OK but definitely made for a wider foot. But they will serve the purpose. As soon as my sister gets over here we are going to go to Culvers for a ice cream. Well it's custard.
Joyce, Indiana2 -
I weighed this morning - just out of curiosity. I'm making Monday morning my official weigh-in weight for the week. Weight is down 2 lbs since Monday. And... since I'm eating more fiber and REALLY watching carbs... I'm encouraged I may start seeing some good downward trend here. Got me thinking about my journey here.
I weighed 290 today.
I started on 11/6/2013 at 290. (I actually weighed 302.4 in February 2013.)
I got my Fitbit and started walking on 12/3/2013.
By 11/8/2014 - I weighed 245.8. The knee thing side-tracked my mindset for far too long.
I feel hopeful I'm turning things around. Posting here daily helps. Your kind words and camaraderie helps!
Thank you!
Ginger
