Hello ladies: Wet drippy day outside and I am fighting a virus. Boo. I have done some walking in the house. It is nice to have lots of square footage when you are not cleaning it. LOL Got my truck gassed up and some cash at the bank. DD and I are headed to the WA State Horse Expo in Vancouver WA tomorrow morning. We have streamlined everything we can so DH has only to throw hay over the fence for the horses tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning. We will be back on Sunday evening. I am looking forward to this and the bonus is that Katla and I will meet up Sunday afternoon all things co-operating! Yay!
Joyce - Happy, happy birthday to you.
Pip - Love the salt and pepper shakers.
Mia - Wonderful pictures.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
NYKaren- Congratulations on your success! Good luck figuring out your next set of goals!
Mary from Minnesota2 -
Janetr ... ooooh ... those are pretty!
Karen in VA ... mine were ordered from a distributor/rep/? through Facebook ... niece put me in touch with her friend who sells them. Otherwise, I'm not certain how you get connected.0 -
Weighed in today. Lost 2.4lbs. I know I should be happy about loosing a little over 2 lbs since my last weigh-in. My goal is to loose about a lb a week, and I weigh every two weeks. So I am meeting my goal!
I think it is this cold I have been fighting for the last few days. I woke up this morning feeling like crap. Wish I was at home, snuggled in a blanket on the couch instead of being at work. I will continue to muddle through the day, will be home soon.
I am interested in non medicinal suggestions for dealing with the cold. I can't take decongestants b/c it raises my BP. At the moment I have a cough, aches, sinus pressure, runny nose, & stuffed up. (never understood how your nose can be stopped up & dripping at the same time. Ha!)
Any suggestions?
Libby- Phx AZ6 -
Becca : love the mini loaf idea. Are those low calorie?
And the pics of the cats. Nope! My cats have no sense of personal space!1 -

Well for 1/2 of a loaf its 111 calories, not low calorie in my book. Not sure of the fat. I will let you know. I used the Betty Crocker cookbook.

I don't have cats, I just mentally rent other peoples cats!3 -
Libby in AZ Congrats on your loss! I view my rollercoaster weight as my body's own heartbeat. As long as my weight slowly goes down, I'm happy.

Happy Birthday Joyce. Hope you enjoy your custard.
Mia - love the picture of you and your hubby. Bet you had fun with the dolphins.
Libby - great loss. Keep on keeping on.
Didn't sleep well last night so came home after golf and slept two hours.
For the next 40 days, I m going to avoid candy, cookies, and chips. They are my downfall.
We'll see how that goes.
Yes, there are several Yexas gels here. You will get to know th m as most are active on the thread.

Karen, the easiest way to find a consultant is to search on FB. You have to ask to be added to a group, then the consultant will have album sales and you can order. There is no catalog.1

Libby, I'm sorry you are sick. My suggestion is hot lemon tea with honey. If you have it, maybe a splash of whiskey in the tea.4

Libby - Bless you! That's miserable.
• My cure-all for everything is a long soak in a warm bath. It just makes me feel better. Bonus if you've got Epsom Salt maybe some lavender essential oil to add to the water.
• Increase Vitamin C. 500mg x 4 times a day.
• Ibuprofen (Advil) for headache. (Aspirin and Tylenol may increase stuffy nose.)
• Saline solution for your nose.
• I drink hot/warm lemon water. Or chicken broth.
• Eat chicken soup. I use frozen veggies and chicken. Add chicken or vegetable broth.
• If you're congested - eat spicy. If it makes your eyes water - it'll make your nose run.
• Wash hands frequently. Cold Virus can survive for several hours on surfaces.
• Give yourself permission to do nothing. Bundle up and rest.
Feel better! And congrats on the loss.

Joyce - Happy Birthday to you. I ask for a new pair of slippers from my husband each Christmas love love love slippers
Mia - love the pics! You are shining/glowing with happiness
A week after my finger surgery and everything is healing very nicely. I've enjoyed having this week off from cooking or doing dishes. DH and I each take a week long turn at cooking dinner and the other one is on clean up duty. This week he handled both jobs. Next week I should be up to washing up after he cooks, but we'll have to see

Been sick all day! UGH! Sick at my stomach and all that sort of $#*T! I feel like Hell-O Kitty! Not helping that I am 'stressing' over DOS & DDnL#1's issues. Hard to have to 'sit back and just watch things crash & burn'. I am a 'fixer'; and, that just doesn't go well together.
What I will 'never' ever understand is 'why' she supposedly turned down a 'significant' raise and transfer back to town; because of picking up girls from school. They have a bus that runs to the town she is working in and she can take off, go get them, and let them stay. According to DOS - they were not going to let her 'take off' to go pick them up that late in the day. IF it was my 16-year-old daughter who had gotten her Learner's License and they did not 'make' her learn to drive ??? what is it with this crapola? I could have driven to the school, and let her 'drive home'. This 'supposed' raise was about $75 a week over what she is making now. Which is about 2/3rd of what she was making when she 'up and quit a job she hated ... without having another to go to'. She had gotten made so often and walked out, gone back; guess she figured her 'boss just could not do without her'. WRONG! Six weeks with no income from her side.
I wonder 'if' she actually got the job 'offered' to her or not. I don't know why my DOS wasn't 'more' upset. I would have 'blasted' my spouse out of the water over that. And, she 'thinks' their $$$ troubles 'are all her fault'. GOOD GRIEF, please do NOT come over here. I will never understand why he cannot 'accept the fact that I can NOT give legal advice ... I'm NOT an attorney'. Neither of them will like what I have to say. I can't bite my tongue; and, I will probably 'lose' it. Pray for us all. Two sons, polar opposites and have always had a 'good relationship' with one another. Now that they are both married, the differences are beginning to show. I'm feeling a 'good cry' coming on.
Read the posts; just could not respond to 88 posts. Too overwhelming. I usually check the site when I post my meals. Phone service was out for a few hours. I thought I heard an ambulance this afternoon (was washing clothes) and I went to call the neighbor, no service. So later, I walked over to see if they had phone service. She drove up as I was leaving. Boy, her DH has gotten very feeble. He is younger than Louis; but, he looks and acts a LOT older.
Chow!
Lenora
P.S. - Pip - good things come to those who are patient and wait. Isn't this just about the Cat's Meow insofar as the changes in your workplace? Good Luck, girl!0 -
Marcelyn: I hope that all is well for your DD and the baby. (((hugs)))
Lisa: "Don't break the chain" is an excellent mantra.
Becca: Your eggs look "marvelous!" Enjoy every bite.
fred957: Great goals!
NYKaren: Congrats on you success at the goals that you had in the beginning. Stick with us. Maintenance is a new and big challenge.
Sue in WA: I'm looking forward to the bonus, too. DH might come along if he is well enough. I plan to be there, either way.
Becca: I love the analogy of your weight loss as a heart beat. It is a lovely. I hope it works to keep you on track. (((hugs)))
Grogers511: Add me to the list of advocates of a long soak in a warm bath. Rest is so important and sometimes that long soak in the tub is the best way to relax enough to rest.
Lenora: My kids often baffle me in their choices, too. I try to stay out of the role of making judgments, but I'm probably not totally successful. I know from their responses to me that I could improve in judgmentalism area.
I spent some time at the stable today. I groomed Arrow and lunged him. I felt good, and I think he did, too. I am not the only one working with him, and his attitude is improving due to all the attention. Riding lesson tomorrow and Washington State Horse Expo on Sunday. I can hardly wait to meet Sue in WA and her daughter.

Lisa, I put a sticker on a calendar for every day that I walk over 10,000 steps. I've been doing that for about 10 years, but my streak isn't continuous. I love seeing stickers on a calendar. Also weighing morning and night and writing down the weight either encourages me to keep going or reminds me to get back on track.4

Gloria in WA - I had that numbness in fingers/thumbs of both hands. Those kept me awake at night. Just aching. Once I started on Naproxen (Aleve) - it eased up. Then when I retired from my job with heavy computer use - it got much better.
I began doing neck/face exercises and I've wondered if those caused a pinched nerve. The neck roll specifically. In therapy they had me roll my head side to side and front to back - but told me not to roll it Round in a circle I have numbness in my right hand middle finger. Sometimes it's very light, sometimes it's more numb and spreads to the ring finger also. And my whole hand. And my whole hand can go numb when I drive or hold the newspaper.
Hope your's improves.

Stats for today:
22,000 steps
166 minutes walking Sasha and Bess
150 minutes riding the exercise bike
taught the beginning line dance class
Both of my regular walking partners cancelled on me today. One is getting ready to put her husband in a long term facility because of Alzheimers and she's bought a new house to move into by herself and the only time she can work on getting it ready is during the 90 minutes in the morning when we usually walk. The other one called and cancelled because it might be raining. Bessie walked with Sasha and me for about 30 minutes in the dark and wanted to go home. Sasha and I kept walking. A little later Jake called me and said that Bessie wanted to go out so they met us along our route and the four of us walked for awhile until Bessie wanted to go home again. When I have no walking partners, I listen to an audio book.
There were four brand new dancers in my line dance class today, so I slowed things down to help them get comfortable with what we were doing. Three of them said they had a great time and assured me that they'd be back next week.

Katla – DDnL#1 [not so ‘dear’] just will NOT do what DOS tells her (or suggests); it is like she intentionally ‘bucks’ him. I’m not a ‘doormat’; but, Louis and I have a very kind and loving relationship; based on mutual respect. We are ‘friends’ and ‘lovers’; I think it is important to be ‘friends’. We both have interests that the other isn’t interested in; but, we both do things we enjoy and share it with each other. He likes to hunt and fish; I enjoy ‘art shows’ and ‘museums’. He took me hunting when Will was only about 6-years-old. Puts us up in a stand together which consisted of a piece of plywood nailed to 4 pine trees about 5” in diameter. Coldest, windiest day of the year. Off the ground about 20’; with no rails. Will hangs his feet over the edge, and looks over and talks non-stop. I had my fist grabbing the back of his jacket. I thought Louis and Trey would ‘never’ come back and get us. STUCK in the damn stand. Never asked him to take me again. Now, I would like to go (to see if I have changed my mind about it). My DDnL#2 and her daughter hunt; and, all 3 of my other granddaughters ‘hunt’ or ‘go sit in the stand’ with their Daddy. The youngest one has started shooting the guns and is a pretty good shot. Both the oldest girls have each shot a buck; and, the 2nd granddaughter's deer was larger than the first one's. My biggest problem with shooting a gun is that I am ‘left-eyed dominant’ and it really can be difficult to shoot a rifle aiming on the left shoulder, when it ejects to the right. Very distracting. Shaky hands makes holding a pistol and aiming pretty difficult. DnL#1 has said things to me about my ‘own’ son; and, then wonders why she gets the ‘advice’ she asks for. I think ‘mutual’ respect between a couple is very, very important; and, we never ‘argues’ in front of the boys. We might have ‘disagreed’ strongly; but, not scream and curse at one another. The girls will come down here … just to get away from it and ‘chill’. I hate it for them … I know that sons were ‘not brought up this way’; and, I find it difficult to figure out ‘what gives’? I try NOT to be 'judgmental'; but, I can't even drop my head without setting off WWIII. A few Thanksgiving Days ago, she and son were arguing; and, I just dropped my head (and shook it); she stormed out of the house, he goes after her. He comes back in and says, 'now look what you've done; what am I supposed to do'? Several choices, pick: You can go home with her; you can stay and eat and take her a plate, you can make plates and go home, I 'don't care'. I did NOT say anything and I did not appreciate her outburst. They stayed and ate and took a plate home to her. No wrong choice, she is your wife ... you know what will happen when you get home, I don't. Will is laying on the couch and says, 'remind me NOT to get married' ... if 'that is what it is all about'. Little did he know that he would meet Tami the next October. I had told him 'when the "right one" came along, he'd know it ... it would 'hit him like a ton of bricks' ... and it did! She calls him her 'Prince William'; and, wishes that she had met him earlier. I told her that 'people come into your lives for a reason' and I did not 'think' she would have liked the 'younger version' of him.
ljgw99 – Have you tried opening up a word processing program and putting them minimized side-by-side; and, typing your responses in the WWP as you read the posts? I find this is the one thing that helps keep me from ‘losing’ my posts (but, I still have to be a little careful, even then). Then when I get ready to move it. I will click on the ‘last’ box of posting and highlight' my response then ‘cut and paste’ my responses from my WPP program and put them ‘in’ the box; then, I will go back and delete the WWP by ‘not saving it’. Occasionally, depending on the length and who else might be posting at the same time; I end up having to ‘paste’ it back to the WPP because there isn’t enough room and MFP pulls up what it can size-wise to post things that will actually ‘fit on the page’. Even then, if I “X” out of the WPP before I paste the responses; I will sometimes lose it. The bad thing about posting on the page is that you really ‘aren’t’ at the end of the postings; you cannot go back a page unless you save the post first; then, you can ‘edit’ it for one hour. Hope this helps.
Every time I hear the ‘new’ commercials for MasterCard about “Master Passing” something, my mind goes to the ‘gutter’. It is almost like they are trying to be ‘suggestive’ about things. I guess Samuel L. Jackson changed his little spill because people were not liking what he said, he has toned it down. I think that the commercial writers are just trying to press it as to what they can get away with. I always enjoyed the Budweiser Clydesdales’ commercials.
Well, turning in … hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Lenora

ljdw99: I type all my posts into a word document on my computer desk top, then copy and paste the whole thing into MFP. I rarely lose anything this way and I can proof read and check for mistakes. Good luck. :flowerforyou:

Ginger I try to be very mindful of my posture as it definitely makes a difference when I keep my shoulders back. I too sit at a computer at least 6 hrs a day and that is probably why this started. That reminds me that I do have at least one goal for this month.
March goal(s):
Do PT exercises everyday!
Watch one funny show a day
Continue my Microwave, Toaster & Printer Room Exercises (counter push-ups, toe lifts, balance on one foot)
