Mia: I agree with Peach. You and your DH look fabulous!1

Mia, great photo of you and DH - lucky you swimming with the dolphins! That wedding ring "ain't too shabby" Congrats on 30 years and here's to 30 more!!
Heather, that's the pits about that gal messing up your check deposit. And that attitude when you went back - ugh. Give me her phone number and I'll pretend she's a telemarketer -- I'll give her supervisor a nice jingle and you'll have it corrected immediately!
Katiebug, your grands are so cute! They should get first place for representing their characters so precisely (if they give prizes.) Love your sunshine - we're in for a cold rainy (possibly snowy!) week.
Becca, congrats on the certificates! Your TOPS group sounds like a lot of fun and very supportive.
Lenora, I went to Methodist churches throughout my life and the last one I attended had an "Ash Wednesday" service so we'd get ashes on our foreheads as well. We had an older pastor who really made the religion "come alive" - she passed away several years ago after an illness and I think about her still.
Becca and Lenora, I wanted to mention - how neat your boys' intellectual capabilities were recognized and you were able to work with them and encourage them. I think my DH is pretty sharp but as a child, his family was quite dysfunctional and he joined a gang (this is not the drug gangs we have today, he could have played an extra in "Grease" - some drinking and fighting, hot rods, girls.... This was in the 1950's and early 60's. Certainly no incentive or parental encouragement to study hard, go to college, or even finish high school.)
Thank goodness he joined the Marines - that really turned him around.

Mia, you and your husband look fabulous...also you and the dolphin
Heather, we had a similar experience a few years ago when our bank showed a $1.000.00 deposit as a withdrawal and we got no sympathy and had to wait a week for it to be corrected...also loved the family photos you posted.
Katiebug, your grandchildren look adorable

Dr. Katiebug quite familiar with those characters as an elementary teacher. Darling.
Mia love the pictures.
On the subject of vegetables, I mentioned the book Eating on the Wildside. The author discusses how we are programmed to like sweet foods. The food industry answered by trying to make our vegetables sweeter. The problem is the more bitter a food is the more likely it will fight against cancer. After watching my DH suffer the past three days because he lost a kidney to kidney cancer I have to say I am even more motivated to eat right. I realize I may end with cancer regardless. I just want to do what I can to lower my chances. I also told you about the young man who broke a hip at fifteen and had herniated discs in his back partly due to a poor diet. When he reversed his diet his health improved dramatically his discs were no longer a problem. Food sometimes is medicine. Maybe thinking of it in that way might make it easier for those who dislike vegetable to look at them in another light.Sometimes preparing them in different ways and using spices and herbs can help too. Fortunately I like all vegetables except for eggplant and split pea soup.I had roasted vegetables for lunch and cooked some green peppers for dinner. YUM! Time to cook some blueberries in maple syrup for dessert.4 -
Going to bed now after a disastrous evening snacking, biscuits, peanut butter on toast. Not sure why as I had been good all day. Will need to think about why I did it, I did the same 2 days ago but that was after drinking wine.
Tomorrow is another day and will try not let myself be derailed. I've been doing this for a year now and still have a couple of pounds to lose to get to goal, wondering how to get past this time of up and down pounds. Feel like I'm just tired of it but know I need to keep going otherwise I won't be able to maintain the loss. Anyone else had this feeling of I'm fed up with this, I want to eat anything I like and to h**ll with it

Yes, Kate ... on a very frequent basis (like today) ... but we don't give up ... because the alternative is not pretty.
Mia ... I think the photos are wonderful and really like those of you with the dolphins!! Your expression with them speaks volumes.

Hard work again today. Still not finished. I am beginning to think we will never get finished.
For month of February, I lost 3.2# and 2 inches. I did get sidetracked for a few days but am back on the rails again going back to catch up on the posts.

My daughter is still carrying that baby! They did a stress test today and baby is doing great. She is 12 days overdue now and irritable. I went with her to the midwife and afterwards we went shopping and got pedicure with extra foot massage to try to spark some contractions. She told me that she was giving up being pregnant for Lent ..... she just has to get the baby on board for that. Lol. I told her 4th babies can be stubborn. Her sister was 13 days late. That did not help her mood. Lol.

Kate UK Anyone else had this feeling of I'm fed up with this, I want to eat anything I like and to h**ll with it
YES! On a regular basis. However, having come this far (17 lbs) I squash that thought however I can! We can and will do this!

I had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon with an ENT doctor. I have been having very sharp pains in my left ear for about 3 weeks. Of course as I got close to the appointment the pain went away the last two days. After a through exam that was not all pleasant, she couldn’t find anything wrong. At least she did rule out some things and said it sounded like a nerve pain which could have been caused by a number of different things. Hopefully the pain won’t come back. I love reading all your advice, food choices and goals. You are such inspirations to me and I celebrate your victories. ((((Hugs)))) to those that want or need them.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Absolutely, I think probably the majority of us here have done that, thus we are here for support and to support one another. Good job on stopping and going to bed.

Pip, love the salt/pepper shakers. My MIL used to collect them. I wish now I had taken a set when she moved into the nursing home. The one we are using now is one she gave us a Christmas present in 1972. We really need some new ones!
Becca, the game I stopped was Egg Buddies. You collected these pretty eggs for points and some of the eggs had letters on them and every 6 hours you were assigned a new word. The S was terrible to find!!!! I played it for about 7 years and just had no more passion for it anymore. A lot of the face book friends I had were for playing the game. After I deleted the app, I remembered that I should have removed the friends first. After playing with or years, some of them have become good friends so I don't want to delete them, but others I have no desire to keep.
Went to see the nurse practitioner today about the new pain I have in my upper back around my lower bra line. I had felt it about 2 weeks ago but just a couple of days ago was able to find it. So when she looked at it, I have a huge bruise on my back where the deep pain is. And part of the bruise shows healing and it is a big one. I have no idea where I bruised it except from the recliner has this area that really hurts in that area. I have a big fluffy pillow there now and it doesn't hurt. She gave me a script for cortisone dose pack.
Watching an old movie that I have always wanted to see, John Q. It's about a man who goes ballistic when his son needs a heart transplant and they don't have insurance for it. His employer had changed from a PPO to a HMO without letting the employees know. He even offered to kill himself and offer his own heart.
Mia, loved the pictures. I can't imagine what it would be like to be in a pool of any kind with such an animal like a dolphin. Your picture was beautiful. I hope you have another 30 years.
My 67th birthday is tomorrow and we went to Red Lobster for supper. We didn't want to go tomorrow because it was Friday. We have gone to Red Lobster on a weekend before and even with going at 4 PM waited for 30 minutes. Our waiter said that we made a wise decision because tomorrow starts the first day of Lent. I asked for a take out box and cut my baked potato in half and also took half the broiled flounder in the box. Of course I did eat 2 cheddar biscuits!
Charlie asked what I asked for my birthday. We are putting about $13000 in home improvements so I really didn't want anything. My house slippers are falling apart. I have nice fuzzy warm house slippers that go up around my ankles. But in the middle of the night when I have to go potty, I have to be able to slip into something quick. Those slippers are falling apart, they are very old. So I found a pair at Walmart for $2.88!!!!! Happy birthday Joyce. It was what I needed and asked for.
Joyce, Indiana8 -
Joyce. Happy Birthday to you, from this gal in Oregon!! Hugs!
I used to play Yoville, and farmville. Those are really addictive! But its nice to not check in!.. Glad you got your slippers!

Becca - glad you got the calendar. I think it'll be motivating.
DJ - We've had Miss Piggy for 8 years. She was a baby when we got her. Our then 3 year old granddaughter named her. I think DH over-feeds her! I'm always fussing at him about giving her too much food scraps.
Ginger2 -
Hello all! We moved to a new (to us) house, the 18 year old cat promptly disappeared, and the scale won't budge... life!!
Blessings to all.4 -

Margaret: I'm in agreement with you about split pea soup. My DH and (I assume) lots of others think it is just wonderful. :noway:
Kate UK: I do eat anything I want & don't eat things I dislike. I just measure the portions and count the calories. Sometimes the portions are very small or I have to pay for them with a load of exercise, but I am free to choose what I like.
Marcelyn: Keeping you and your daughter in my prayers. I hope for an easy delivery and a healthy baby.
Pip: So cute! Who knew there were Airstream salt and pepper holders?
I've made plans to go out to the stable tomorrow afternoon to work with Arrow. I plan to stick with lunging him tomorrow. I'm taking a conservative approach to riding on my own at this point because I'm the only driver and have to be fit enough to take DH in for his next eye surgery this coming week. I will get to ride during my lesson on Saturday & the support of my teacher will make me feel more secure.
