machta - you don't need to tell me that the perimenaupause stage lasts forever. I think I was probably in it for a few years. I'd go almost a year with no period and then, bammm....
I haven't missed a period yet. 6 years in perimenopause going through every other symptom ... but I still have my periods every 3 weeks or so. Sometimes even more frequently.
I did, however, get all excited when I went about 37 days without a period a couple months ago.0 -
Janet ~ You look way too young to be a great grandmother.
Before & After Pics ~ You all look so well. You should be so proud of yourselves for all the hard work you have done and what you accomplished.
Becca & Kelly ~ Wow! What busy bees you have been. If I get my house vacuumed and the kitchen mopped, I feel like I have accomplished a lot. Bathrooms ~ I can clean the sinks & toilets, but, then the tubs really pose a problem as it is hurtful to my knees to get down and scrub.
Azaleas ~ I need to find out about cutting them back. Last summer's drought did a job on mine. They have so many dead places and bare bottoms. My husband planted these across the front and they have always been lovely in the Spring. Not this year.
We went to my grandson's baseball game on Saturday (they won) and then to La Parilla for Mexican. I had a large burrito that had a lot of lettuce and tomatoes with it so didn't feel so bad. But, I also had two frozen margaritas which I adore.
I have decided that I want to grow my hair out again but dread how it is going to look in the process.

- Leigh in France - Thank you Leigh. After three full days on the antibiotics I am beginning to feel better.
Our grandson left this morning for the Navy for basic training. He will eventually train in Air Traffic Control. They had a going away party for him Friday night but I did not feel up to going. I insisted Jack go without me He stopped by last evening to give me a hug before the recruiter came to pick him up. I did shed a few tears. They grow up so quickly.

Good morning!
It's a sunny day in Arkansas. 80f are forecast so it should be a pleasant day!
Although there are some rivers cresting up north and flooding may happen in some towns. I'm praying for the best for them.
Lenora Thanks for your response. Sometimes I think I'm the only one with family issues especially with an aging mother. You had mentioned how yours took the photos. Well my DS made sure all 15 binders of our family's genealogy was moved out. I should of told her to leave them but she can get in your face and yell and scream. I don't need the stress. It took my DM 40 years to compile them before ancestry.com existed. One binder was my dad's of original pictures when he was in a B-17 bomber in WWII. my sister is so irresponsible I'm afraid they will be lost forever. She has lost several storage units full of her belongings due to nonpayment. I found out she has about 30 aliases a few years back too!
Your right about one thing. My DM can't be friendly or loving to both of us at a time. She didn't speak to DS for 20 years.
I could go on with stories about sister, some illegal. Maybe some other day!
Michelle in NC Ceramics sounds like fun! I took a class for several semesters at the local college. I learned how to throw pots on a wheel and glaze and fire. I loved it!
Time to get up! My meds are kicking in so I can move. No excuses!!
Have a wonderful day! I'm so grateful I found this group! Y'all are great!!

Hi everyone. I am back for a second chance at losing the weight I lost after bariatric surgery 5 years ago. What makes it very hard for me is the intensifying back pain I have had for 2+ decades. I am finally having a Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) trial. I have spend years trying everything else with no lasting relief. So I hope the trial will prove helpful so I can have one implanted permanently.
I could use some encouragement. I have no friends. My family members are my friends, I guess. So please chime in if you can. Thanks.6 -
I have been really busy with grandkids and volunteer groups. I did have a bit of fun for self time though. DH and i spent 3 wweks south of the border this past wjnter, it was fun, but i missed the kids, so maybe i am nor ready for "going south for the winter" .
Two scrapbooking retreats in April. And even managed to have my bookkeeping all caught up for all the groups I volunteer with.
I guess I am settling in to retirement. I just have to remember that " yes, I can do it tomorrow but at least remember to do it"..... yup....having good memory issues!!!!
Have a great day everyone

Michele wow - you inspire me! I'm quite certain I couldn't plank for 5 sec. Right now all I can do is walk and ride the stationary bike but I'm hoping to add some calisthenics in the not so distant future. The stuffed cabbage your friend made don't sound like mine...I do a ratio of at least half meat, if not more and stuff them as much as I can while and still able to wrap them. But the real secret is adding worchestershire sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice to the tomatoes/tomato sauce. It makes them so tangy and flavorful. These are a favorite "diet food" choice but too much work to do all the time.
Mia you inspire me too - Always felt like it would be an amazing accomplishment to do a 5K. Great work on your race!
Sarah congrats on onederland - what an achievement! You must be so pumped up!
Kate - I agree how does everyone remember everything that's going on for everyone?? I'm more than hopeless.
Karen - great willpower. Restaurant and party food always derails me too - easier just to abstain sometimes and cook at home.
Sharon - what do you write?
Another day another dollar - if I get my butt into the office soon. So it's off to the grind and catch up some more later

KELLY Wrote "Karen- Mia is a doll baby! She is getting so big! What do you mean your daughter will be her new grandmother? Is she going to be close by and fill in for you?"
I see Karen already pointed out your confusion. Karen's beautiful baby girl is Olivia and I have a confession, I typed Olivia myself and laughed when I saw what I had done and went back and corrected it. My three year old granddaughter I s Olivia.
We all have these beautiful babies to share lol. My daughter is finally marrying the grandpa although they have been together for six years she will now be "official".

Leigh, thank you so much. I had gastric bypass surgery in December 2013. It's was a very fast way to lose weight but I have to say not easy plus it includes challenges for the rest of your life. But yes, I'm glad I did it and yes I'd do it again in a heartbeat...

Becca: WTG! I admire your housekeeping skills.
Pip: Happy Birthday to Floyd! Our dog, Schooner, is 9 and will be 10 on July 19.
Dana: I'm sorry about the situation with your mom and your sister. :flowerforyou:
Janetr: It is good to hear that Mia is doing well now.
Sharon: I love goal #1-Do more, whine less. I need to take it to heart. I actually think you've set up a very good list of goals. I'm glad to hear you're planning to write again.
Kate: What a wonderful system you have! It would be so nice to be able to jump on a train and go somewhere at no cost. There is passenger train service along the west coast, but trains are infrequent and train stations are not close to where we live. there are no discounted fares that I know about. Liegh: MedicareWe have taken the train to Seattle a couple of times and had a wonderful time. That was several years ago.
Leigh: Medicare doesn't cover glasses and neither does our supplemental insurance, but these particular glasses are so expensive because of choices I made to have them progressive, self-darkening and made of an extremely lightweight material, including the new frame. I'll be keeping the old pair as an emergency backup. If I didn't want all these features they would have been quite a bit less. :ohwell:
Machka: I guess with periods, they aren't over until they're over. I was thrilled when they finally went away. :bigsmile;
Orchidmother: Welcome to a great group of supportive women. To find us again, click on the balnk star at the top of the page. It will turn yellow. After that, you can find us by clicking on the gray star in the Community Page.
I am going to yoga today. I have had to miss too much yoga because of medical appointments. Now that DH can drive again, I won't have to go to all of his appointments. Yay!!! Not only that, my weight is up a bit. I have to get hold of it before another day goes by. I'm currently at the goal weight MFP set for me and I want a cushion of about 5 pounds. I have a bad knee and it functions much better when I'm a little lighter.

Janetokc, Congrats on grandson going into the Navy!! Air traffic controller, like on a base, or with a ship? You see my husband was an Operations Specialist OS, and he was the guy like in the movies plotting and graphing sea and air contacts on a map table or writing on the plexiglass with a grease marker. In a sense being a traffic controller for the area around the ship. The "air Navy" is really overmanned sadly. Many a time my sons had passed the rate tests, but there were no openings. I hope his boot camp experience goes well. I am going to have Owain read both brothers correspondence to us when they were in boot camp, so he will know what a head game it is. Just play the game...

Happy No Socks Day!
Pip - Happy birthday to Floyd! I get a big smile every time I see that handsome face.
Machka9 - I feel for you... one of the things nobody tells us is that menopause isn't something you just go through and then it's over! For me, perimenopause was worse than being full-on post menopausal. Hope you are finding ways to relieve your symptoms a bit.
Lanette - I bought a TENS unit after my motorcycle wreck and it did seem to help. Then I discovered that it really helps with my hip bursitis, so that's a plus!
It was a crazy weekend and I've had to skim to catch up, but I see a lot of you have had victories - large and small - recently. Congratulations! It's such a boost to celebrate an accomplishment.
My sister and brother in law were in town for #1 niece's birthday, which is the day before mine. So we had a nice birthday dinner with three "birthday children" at the table (niece, Philip, and me). Lot of Tauruses in our family!
The day before we'd celebrated with Philip's parents, and checked out a new restaurant in town. Our town is small, so the opening of a new restaurant is a big deal! This was specializes in southern food, and had a great selection of vegetables on the buffet.
I've started reading "Younger Next Year," but will have to think about whether I can truly make a commitment to 60 minutes of exercise six days a week. At the moment I'm having a hard time getting in any exercise! Some of their advice like joining a gym and getting a trainer is just out of the question, but in the grant scheme of things an hour a day of exercise isn't that much to ask.
One of the dwarf pomegranate trees I planted this spring has the tiniest flower bud! If it actually opens I'll have to take a picture. I told the little tree it was too young to be doing that!
Wishing you all a fine day...

Katla, I am really the worst type of cleaner! I am the type that turns over couches,(because lord knows what can get stuck in them!), and my cleaning can travel from room to room. So my husband just says ," oh no you are in that mood again aren't you!!??". Yesterday I had to wear my apron for awhile until the feeling to clean kicked in. I usually take everything off counters and floor in my bathrooms and put it on the bed. See now I really have ta clean! Its quite a mental thing! Haha!

Presently my weight is 239. I have gained some weight since ending TOPS, but only a couple. The pressure of managing my weekends in order to have a good weigh in on Wednesday is gone. Each day stands on its own, and my accountability is to myself alone.
Now having said all that, I have been dipping into my sons peanut/honey almonds/M&M mixture, so its now off the counter. I had some handfuls on Friday, so that was probably the culprit for my upset stomach over the weekend. Hey I reaped what I sowed! My fault, I will own it!
Everyone is doing so well! I am proud of all of you!!

Becca ~ I got into my DH's malted milk balls last nite. We're bad...LOL2
-
LOL! Sorry Janet and Karen- for the baby mixup! Both beautiful girls and I know, in my brain, whose babe is whose; I even went back three times to re-read that sentence about the baby's grandmother! Hahaha! Just should have looked closer at who was posting!
Becca- THAT was how I was with my cleaning this weekend! Usually I just do what needs to be done and that is it; but I have my times when my body is taken over by some sort of cleaning demon. And it was such a beautiful day, and I wanted to stop cleaning; but I couldn't! And it was crazy, madwoman, kind of cleaning. I was red faced and working at a furious pace, and moving things and talking to myself and congratulating myself with every task completed. AND I AM THE WORST SORT!!! I actually make my DH take a tour through the house upon completion, while I tell him everything that I did. LOL!
Yvonne- IF you are having a hard time finding the motivation/time to fit in exercise (even just walking) make your goals small! I had to start at 15 minutes. I had to tell myself, "You have time for 15 minutes!" So I would go out and walk for 15 minutes. Sometimes that 15 minutes would stretch to 30; but the point is just to get you out and moving. I have been at 30 minutes of walking a day. I am starting to feel the "itch" to really push to an hour or push to begin running; but I am making myself take it slow. I don't want to risk injury or turn it into something I dread doing. Start small and you will be fine!
Welcome new ladies!4 -
Quick check in. Workout this morning with bands, then 73 minutes of cutting grass with push mower. I get the roadside, so lots of pushing and pulling the mower over the ditch. So, really, more weight training. LOL. Got my 10,000 before lunch.
I've been stuck at the same weight for six weeks so really need to jumpstart the scale moving again. I know the problem. Too many days of not getting 10,000 steps and going over calories by two to three hundred. Somebody give me the boot!5 -
Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Allie, just reading about what is going on at your job makes me soooooooooooooo happy that I finally got to retire. Every time things start going great, it’s time for a change. I sure don’t miss the office politics and the bosses that have reached the level of their incompetence. Lol You are doing great to just do your job and keep your mouth shut.
Janetr, so glad to hear you are finally feeling better. I hope you have a full recovery.
MicheleNC, your wedding gift ideas sound great. Good luck.
Orchidmother, welcome. Good luck with the back issues. They are the worse. Please tell us a bit more about yourself and sign each post with the name you want us to call you. A location is nice too, general or specific.
Renee, you do know that most of us have a word document open as we read and put our responses on that? Then when finished, we copy and paste into MFP. Very few of us could remember who said what even if we have been here for a few years.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
OMG, I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas. My DD is within an hour of getting home and I’m so excited. For those that missed it or are new: My DD moved all the way across the country to Oregon three years ago. I haven’t seen her in all that time and miss her terribly. She is moving back to Myrtle Beach and has been on a road trip with her Great Dane mix for 9 or 10 days. There were delays due to the rain in the middle of the country. Anyway I am looking forward to her getting here. I have to leave for a meeting by 4:30 so I hope she arrives in time to visit a bit.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Greetings! It’s a hot day here today (90 degrees) and kind of cloudy. It’s my birthday, but DH has to work tonight and I have a support group, so no celebrating just yet! That’s ok. Hopefully this Saturday both kids can come over for dinner and cake. I spent my whole morning in a meeting…ugh!
DH has his postponed lawyer appointment today. I’m trying not to think about it. I’m just so worried about how this will turn out. I still cannot believe we are in this position.
DD#1 actually texted me to say happy birthday after no communication since Good Friday. She wants me to come to a dr. appointment with her the 30th. So that was a nice gesture. I don’t know what to do about her; I guess there’s nothing to do, but DH was so frustrated over her inability to even commit to a birthday celebration that he was very upset. She simply won’t commit to anything because she says “I don’t know” to all questions or plans. If you just plan and tell her when it is, she’s angry because she didn’t get any input.
Lanette: yes, the TENS should work great on back strain
Jane hope you are feeling better by now
Mia: congrats!!!
Grandmallie: I think everyone’s advice here has been solid!
Pip: your dog looks like my cats up on a box staring out the window! Yesterday they were trying to attack the birds that are building nests on our awnings! It’s hilarious.
So I know I have missed most of you but I read all and will be thinking of you today~ Meg from Omaha

I'm sitting here a getting more and more upset and I keep telling myself to just let it go, so decided to share with you my friends and then give it to the universe. It is what it is. About a month ago, my niece in Denver texted me that her daughter is graduating high school in May and said her Mom and Dad, my sister that I haven't seen for about 2 1/2 years, will be coming to Denver for their granddaughters graduation. They live in Seattle now but had lived in Southern California for about 20 years, I flew to CA 2 1/2 years ago for their 50th wedding anniversary. So I told my niece that I would not be able to come to Denver as my granddaughter here in Oklahoma was graduating HS that same weekend and my daughter from Denver would be coming here. Told her I was so sorry to miss her parents, etc.
So today I get another text from the same niece saying my sister (one of them that lives in Denver) is having a lunch for all the sisters at her house on May 15th and they would love for me to be there. Now she knows that I'm busy and can't come but what bother's me even more is why in the world would my niece be the one inviting my to my sister's home for lunch? I'm always calling my older sisters and I'm always telling them that I would love it if they would call me once in a while too, but they never do and it really hurts my feelings. Now I'm invited to lunch by a niece, not even a daughter to the sister that is having the lunch. Does that make sense? Any way, I politely told her that I would not be able to make it. Ugh.
Sorrry for the long complaint and thanks for letting me vent.

Hi all,
Just got back from London. My friend was in fairly good form through the chemo, but they had three goes at getting the canula in.
I walked back to the train station - 50 mins, so got a bit of exercise.
Did not drink any alcohol and only went over by 100 which is good on a low exercise day.
On the way home I saved a group of non English speaking foreigners from going in the completely wrong direction by telling them to get out and join the front half of the train when it was dividing. My good deed for the day.

Heather, where were the people from that were going to go the wrong way? I guess I'm asking if they understood English or if you had to speak to them in another language. You always impress me with your knowledge

Janet. So sorry you have been hurt by your sister and family. I've had my share too! If the May 15th conflicts with your DD graduation, just enjoy yourself in town. I wouldn't call them at all. Words might be said that can't be taken back. Do your own thing, don't worry about it. There will be other times to get together.
