Good Morning! I finally pushed the cancel button and cancelled my WW membership. I'm more interested in the kinds of calories I'm eating than how many Smart Points. It's a huge step for me. Wish me luck. I've gone to a Saturday morning WW meeting on and off for 17 years. Still not at goal weight. Time for a fresh approach. Have a great day!!6
-
I never had any success with WW; to get my points in, felt like I over ate; trying to eat when DH eats his large meal in the middle of they day just did not work for me. Even now; I usually don't eat lunch until the middle of the afternoon and it is not high in calories.
I've kept my mouth shut on some posts; because it is obvious that none of the advice is probably ever going to be taken. Trust what is within you; stop trusting someone who has betrayed you. That's how life works. Forgiving someone for things and having them constantly repeat their bad behavior is something one has to be 'willing' to 'give up' or be 'stuck'. Move on! Being a 'victim' is something one allows themselves to be; changing that behavior is also something that has to be a 'choice'.

Hi all!
Yesterday's "feast" and wine only took me over my "losing "calories by 70 calories and this morning the scales recorded a slight loss. Very pleased.
I've been really concentrating on getting the exercise in with my arm so uncomfortable, and have been managing more than my normal 600. Today I did 700 on the recumbent bike and the elliptical. Tomorrow I can only do a very short session as I have to catch a train to London so I can sit with my friend through her chemo. I'm looking forward to it, but I hate losing my exercise schedule. Takes me a while to "titivate" before I go out.
My alcohol calendar is working well for me. Yesterday after our delicious wine I really felt the urge for a bourbon, but desisted as I wanted a smiley face sticker, not a frown. This week I have recored 8.5 units of alcohol. My aim is to keep under 14 a week. Tonight I am going to get a gold star for AF. For those who don't drink, a small 125 ml glass of wine is 1.5 units. The big glasses you get in most wine bars and restaurants these days are 250 mls and 3 units!!! I often have a 125 ml wine with a lot of soda water. Lasts longer that way. 100 calories.
I have put extra support on my arm. I normally wear my lymphodema sleeve anyway, but I got out an old, very thick lymphodema sleeve from my drawer and I'm wearing it doubled up on top, with it folded back round the wrist. It is helping a lot.
Going to make Hairy Bikers' Lamb Tagine for tonight. DH is at one day cricket today. At least it is a bit warmer and sunnier than last time. I've had a lovely bath and done my nails. Going to finish reading paper and maybe watch a film. Or read.
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -
Kate UK: White Jeans! How will you manage to stay away from dirt? I'm in awe.
Lisa: I'm happy to hear your son is at home. I hope it will be a happy place for him and will allow him to have a big helping of peace and comfort.
Chris in MA: I don't offer advice about weight loss unless someone asks. Then I tell people I count calories and found this great website, MFP. Most of my old friends are used to the new me, and new people assume I've always been like this, so it doesn't come up often anymore. It was talked about a lot and I had lots of questions a couple of years ago when I was just getting close to goal. The worst was, "Will you talk to my wife?" The answer was, "Only if she asks me." :flowerforyou:
Jagbug: Welcome to a great group of supportive women.
Lillian: So good to see you!
We have a sunshiney morning! Yay! I was thinking about going for a drive but DH said he'd like to go down to the sailboat and get the winter heaters off of it. He hasn't been on the docks at all in months, let alone a boat, and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that he won't get seasick when we go down the ramp and are actually floating. Wish us luck. Sailing has been a joy to us for years until DH started getting motion sick a couple of years ago. I've been hoping and wishing that the cataract surgery would solve the problem. Now we will find out whether there is any improvement. I'm praying for an end to seasickness for DH and have been for two or three years. Wish us luck.

After yesterday's long bicycle ride, today we just walked 2.2 km along the next beach over from ours.
This photo was taken a few months ago. Today was slightly darker and more overcast than that ... and colder and windier (getting on for winter here). And the waves were much larger and more impressive today!
But I need to do something about my bicycle setup. I'm having some rather unusual back pain when I ride that bicycle. The walk helped me stretch things out a bit.5 -

Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Jane, I hope the pain is better and you were able to resist the food crutch.
Jane, her hair did come out great. She is a beautiful girl with beautiful hair. The main thing is that she liked it.
DJ
Myrtle Beach, SC
Thank you, DJ. I did resist the munchies and that is a major NSV for me. I kept thinking about the 30 odd lbs that I have lost and how the pain would be so much worse with that added weight! Then had the pleasure of jumping on Wii fit last night to be a further 6lbs down - I am so chuffed! I was hoping that after the heparin injections, my knee would start to feel better, but it's not yet and the tramadol makes me so sleepy. I have been getting a little more exercise with the help of a crutch and fingers crossed it won't be too long before I am walking normally!!
Thank you again for your kind words about little miss's hair. She is currently putting it through a coconut oil heat therapy. I remember a time when I would spend hours treating my curly hair, now it gets washed and combed maybe Coloured occasionally. Although it does make me smile when I see her finally enjoying her luscious locks!
Have a good Sunday

Happy birthday to my 3rd born Floyd!!! He's 8 today!!

Jane – your daughter’s hair is simply gorgeous. Good for you resisting the munchies and doing so well despite the pain. You are an inspiration!
Machka – gorgeous beach photo! Sorry to hear about your back and hope it gets resolved quickly, sounds like walking it out helped. I have to realize it’s fall in OZ! Winter is around the corner. If we have a hot summer, we’ll look forward to some nice snowy photos from you in a few months.
Mia – congrats! Proud of you!
Lenora, thanks for the info on the TENS unit. If it doesn’t come with good instructions I’ll be googling for sure. DH will be helping with it. I’m a little familiar with pressure points on/around my tush having gone thru this many times in my life. I’m about 80% better today, thank goodness – did a lot of stretches yesterday, hot packs, and found a super-duper Curcumin pill at the health food store specially for low back pain. I am thinking it helped…nice to wake up and get out of bed without saying ouch!
One of the best low back painkiller therapies I ever found was a Physical Therapist who used “Jones Strain/Counterstrain” technique. It’s been a while, but as I recall I was totally relaxed on a padded table, the therapist lifted my leg and found a position where it didn’t hurt anymore and held my leg for three minutes. Bingo, pain gone. That’s a really quick and probably not accurate depiction of how it works. The PT moved from the area and I haven’t been able to find another one who uses it. I try to do it myself now by resting a leg on the coffee table where it's held w/o pain for a few minutes - I think it helps.
Katla – it looks like today will be perfect for sailing. So sorry to hear about DH’s seasickness. Hope the cataract surgery helped. Do you head out into the ocean or stay on the river when you take the boat out?
Heather, I love reading about your alcohol calendar and how steadfast you are in keeping within your calorie allocation. You are a great success story.
Kate – good luck with your gallbladder. Is this upcoming appointment for an ultrasound?
Pip – wow that was expensive material. I think the 2nd one will look just as gorgeous in your Airstream. Happy Birthday Floyd!
Kim – enjoy your time with your god-daughter. Sorry to hear about the funeral but that’s a very happy story about Mike. He is a special kid and I’m sure will miss his Grandma.
Lisa – glad your son is able to visit for a while! LOVE that new car, by the way. Looks very comfortable!
Sarah – what a relief the waters are under control. Hope it stays that way. My sis sent a photo of area farms in Indiana… farmers have planted some crops but they are under water. I have a lot of respect for farmers who face so many challenges from weather to weeds to market conditions. They have to love their way of life.

Machka: What a beautiful beach! You're lucky to live nearby. I have no advice about bicycle set up, but Pip is also a long distance rider and she may have insights. (((hugs)))
Lanette: We have sailed up the coast form Astoria to the Straights of Juan de Fuca and back more than once. Once you get to the San Juan and Gulf Islands, it is glorious. It is not a pleasant ride up or back when the Pacific is rough. Pacific means peaceful, and it happens occasionally but not predictably. I don't foresee the two of us doing it again, which is a shame because once you're up there, there are a million places to go, things to see, and things to do. We have friends who live up there and have more than one boat. Perhaps we'll visit them and go cruising one of these days. First, DH has to be able to get on the boat in its slip without getting seasick. :ohwell: I love the photo and message--"Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee, and a good dog."
We have a pretty day today. So far I've spent my time cleaning house and vacuuming up piles of dog hair. I'm not done. Later on, DH wants to go down on the docks and see how things feel to him. Please keep us in your prayers and good thoughts that he is not troubled by motion sickness.

Did 1-1/4 hr Leslie Sasone walking DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a segment of the carb burner DVD, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
Made these chocolate covered strawberries for a friend's birthday, only I forgot to line the pan with parchment paper so I had to go back and put a bit more chocolate on the part that stuck to the pan. Now I'm making these chicken cheese balls for Rummikub. I'll freeze them and have them.
I'm stress eating right now. See, I'm still very upset at the way Pete's mother took over and decided to pay for Denise's wedding gown. She just blurted out right in the bridal place "we want to pay for your gown". What was I supposed to do? Then, you know the stress that a bride is under, she adds to the stress that Denise has by having Denise call me to ask me if I'm upset. Now what was I going to say "oh, well I realize that she's mother of the groom and I'm mother of the bride, but I really appreciate her taking away one of my privileges". Really? Did she think that I was going to say something like that? She could have asked me directly (I know that she's a fan of using Facebook) I really have to let this go, but I just can't get over the way she went about it. Why didn't she ask me BEFORE we went dress shopping? Oh no, then she may not have gotten her way. At least I'm stress eating by having some of the cheese cubes.
A question for anyone who does ceramics: someone mentioned to me, and I thought this was cool, that when her daughter got married, they got a platter in bisq, had everyone who came to the reception sign it, then they took it home and someone painted in black over the signatures, then they glazed the platter and gave it to the bride and groom. Gotta think on this. I know I don't have a steady enough hand to go over those signatures. Maybe I should pay someone to do it for me (Michele at ceramics?) What do you think of this idea?
Sandoremi - just now you're getting the batwings???? You've been really lucky. It's somewhat depressing for me when my daughter flaps them and goes "look, ma, flab".
Nice day, a bit cool. Yesterday Vince said that he wanted to cut the grass, at least in the front yard since we'll be getting a bit more riverrock delivered Tuesday. But then we had Internet and phone problems yesterday so Charter is supposed to be here Mon but if they have a cancellation they'll be here today. He's afraid that if he's on the tractor he won't hear his cell phone. So we're not going to cut the grass today
No, we're not going to be putting down anywhere near the amount of riverrock that we put down a few years ago. But some of the rock has settled over the years, we just want to "fil in" those spots and the minimum we can get with delivery is 2 tons. We really only wanted 1 ton, but they don't deliver that small amount.
Lenora - I got my mini-trampoline at Play it Again Sports (when they were around here). Many, many, many years ago I was on dilantin for a short period of time. How I remember those gums swelling up. Of course, that was before Lamictal was even invented!
Lisa - I'm so glad you feel comfortable speaking about your son here. This is really the only place where I am open about my feelings, too.
Chris - sounds like an awesome time in Nantucket. So happy for you. Oh, wow, a smaller sweatshirt. WTG girl!!!! You rock!!!
jagbug - You'll do well. I honestly think of all the "diets" out there WW is the best. However, I could never completely understand how they can say that something has "0" points. Points seem to be tied to calories -- the more calories, the more points. But yet something that is high in fiber won't have many if any points. Yet it still has calories. I never could quite get my head around this

In 2009 my husband's chiropractor recommended that he try the Isagenix program to help him lose weight, gain energy, and improve his general nutrition. He jumped in the program and I watched with skepticism from the side. To support him, I decided to be more careful with my eating and plan my food ahead of time and stick to my plan. I found MFP when I was looking for the calorie count for something. I started using the food diary immediately...planning my meals ahead of time...and sticking to the plan, no matter what. The food diary helped me see where all the calories were coming from and helped me continue to make better choices. I analyzed my relationship with food and decided that there were many foods that made me want more and others that satisfied. I recognized how much of my life included "recreational eating" and began seeking ways to have fun that didn't include food. I gave up baking as a hobby. I decided that my friends would have to like me for something other than my chocolate chip cookies. I did this one day at a time, including Isagenix as part of my daily eating plan. I sought every opportunity to be active and set aside knitting as the way I passed the time and did more walking. I made health and fitness my hobby and read books and articles that would help me. I checked in with "Women Ages 50+" every day and participated in discussions so I felt like part of the community. Even after I lost the weight I wanted to lose, I kept doing the same things I was doing before. I started this journey at age 62 and now at age 71, I am at the weight I want to be. I dance three mornings a week, walking my dogs for about 3 hours a day, and ride a recumbent bike while watching TV.
Three books I recommend:
"Strong Women Stay Young" by Miriam Nelson, MD
"Younger Next Year for Women" by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge, MD
"Better Than Before" by Gretchen Rubin

Found Denise's "something old". I knew that I had this handkerchief that she wore as a bib or a bonnet (couldn't remember which) when she was baptized. Now this is something she can carry down the aisle with her. I, honestly, had always thought my rings would be her "something old" but that won't happen.
Vince FINALLY took whatever he needed off the old powerwasher. He thinks we should take it to the landfill but I think that if I can put it in the garbage can, the garbagemen will take it. It's in the garbage right now so next Mon we will find out who was right.
Then put away this Christmas towel that I'd forgotten to put away.

Michele – I think that is a good idea for a platter; and, one can always use a platter. Are you talking about them signing the damn bisque; then having someone write over the names? Then firing it? Are you actually going to paint it? It’s been so long since I have worked with bisque that was damp enough to etch the name; or is that what you were planning on doing? Or just writing their names with a marker? I know with one of my manger scenes was painted off white then rubbed down with brown (but I was only trying to fill in the creases. Or are you planning on having a tool there for them to etch their names into the bisque? Could you then fire it; and then rub in down with a color to go into the signatures and re-fire it to keep the color down in the names? I don’t know if that would work; you might have to try it out on a sample piece of bisque. But, it’s been 45 years since I have done any ceramics. Maybe you teacher would know a lot more. I know when my Mother gave me a ‘china’ manger; it did not look finished. I think she gave it to me unfinished. After rubbing it down with brown oil paints and rubbing it off immediately, it had my desired look. I would think if you used bisque; you’d have to pack around it too keep someone with a heavy hand from breaking it. I’m sure you will work something out on how to get the desired look you want. I know I could ‘never’ paint over something as delicate as someone’s signature. I know my Mother used decals on some of the things she did. Any possibility of copying the bridal book and having the signatures made into decals and lay them out on the bisque and fire them? The heat would melt the paper; but, leave the name. Sort of like a temporary tattoo does, after a day and a bath the ‘shiny’ thin paper like stuff washes away from the actual figure. I’m just blowing off things I might think about doing. If you used a tool in damp bisque you would still have to carefully rub away the ruts after they signed it. Maybe Michele at ceramics would have an idea of how to do this.
I know that they would cost a lot more now; but, what did you have to pay for your trampoline?
Louis doesn’t want me to attempt to go off the Dilantin, even with the swelling. I have found a new toothpaste that seems to help. I had to buy it ‘online’; then, I found it at Rite Aid.
Sunny SW WA State – I was 35 when I was ‘surgically’ force into menopause; but, handled my weight well; until about age 55; and, then it started creeping up on m, a lb. a month and as I got older a little more; until I found myself at 200lbs when my DYS was getting married. I did NOT like that I had to buy a size 20 dress to wear to his wedding and only wore it that one time. Seeing the pictures made me realize that I had to do something or else I ‘would’ look like my Mother who weighed in at about 350lbs. I don’t mind that I look like her ‘in the face’ and I have her ‘skin’. I’ve lost 40lbs; but still have about 15 or 20 to go to get to my goal weight. It’s been hard and trying to set ‘realistic’ goals means that I am going to really have to watch what I eat and exercise daily.

Lanette - I lost my initial weight from being a cardio bunny and CICO. However, I was still big. I lost the inches from doing weightlifting strong lift 5X5, and swinging the kettle bell. Then in October of last year I injured my shoulder and regained 20 pounds. I then heard about the keto diet. I started this year February 1 this year. Which has allowed me to lose that 20 pounds plus another 10 and I know I will be losing five more soon. The keto diet melts fat right off my body! Don't think I would have been able to lose that much this quickly any other way. Here is my first success story then updated updated success story.
I am 57 years old. I have no idea how much I weigh now. I last weighed around 142 and my goal weight is 125. I got down to 135lbs and was a size 10. Then March 1, 2015 I started doing strong lift 5x5. I then lost 17 inches and am now a size 5-7 depending on fit. I also went from doing 21 to 24 hours of cardio every week to ZERO I only do strong lift 5x5 for an hour every other day. I also changed from eating 1260 calories to 1600 +. I started lifting with a 12.5 lb bar and now lift 109 lbs squat, 100lb sumo squat, bench 83lbs, barbell row 89lbs, over head press 62lbs, and deadlift 137lbs.
This is recent update but I will post another in June.

Latest picture of Mia follows. By the way, my oldest daughter (soon to be Mia's official grandma) is getting married June 10th in Las Vegas. They have been together for almost 6 years so I'm very happy for them. She's a busy girl right now, just turned in her final paper for Master's Degree last night, she leaves in two weeks for Greece and then will get married about 10 days after she gets back from Greece. She will then begin working towards getting her CPA, the study book alone for the CPA tests cost just short of $4,000. The cost to take each section of the CPA is around $350, there are three parts, that's crazy.

Well today I tackled my bathroom. Wiped down all surfaces, even dusted high light bulbs! Scoured the shower, tackled toilet! Our seat has issues, but its kind of an extra expense, just a tab on one side broken. When husband was I'll he couldn't balance well, so a lot of hip twistings and it just broke at the weak part. I now have quite a clean bath! I shall take pics! Haha!
