Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes!
Just completed my first big bike ride - 3 hours. And it is true that wearing bike shorts is better than the seat covers. All my parts are good! My arms and legs are sore and I know I will pay tomorrow but this felt great!
Have a great Saturday everyone!
Sarah
Well done!!3 -
Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
Kelly, Joaquin is getting even cuter with each pic, if that’s possible. Thanks for sharing.
Felicia, I have to say that you and I differ greatly in one area. If I had anyone that wanted to call me any name for a Grandmother, I’d be thrilled. I have none. I realize you are much younger than I am but I hope you can learn to cherish those grands, no matter how you came to get them. We are glad you have joined us. So sorry about your root canal…..I had one with a wonderful endodontist and got nothing but relief. It did take about 4 treatments before we were finished but he was great.
Lynn, welcome to a wonderful group of ladies. Come often and join right in. Please sign each post with the name you want to be called and a location, general or specific.
Joyce, I love hearing (reading actually) about your kitties. I’m so glad you got Mr. Mozart and he has added a little spice to your life as well as Melodys.
Dana, we have lots of ponds around our neighborhood and the one we drive through to go south from here. We love looking at the geese, ducks and swans with their babies. It’s fun to watch them grow but sad to see the numbers dwindle as nature takes it course
MicheleNC, when I hear you and others talk about a hair dryer on itching, it makes me itch. When I had hives, the one thing that made them worse was a hot shower. To this day I try to keep it Luke warm and cool down before I finish.
Sue, sorry your golf game got rained out. I hope you have sunny skies ahead.
Cheri, so happy for you and the weight loss. Hang in there and just wait to see “how low it will go”.
MicheleNC, I’m sorry about the scheduling and problems with you lecturing. With the wedding and all those upsets I hope you won’t give this another thought and enjoy the free time. (((Hugs)))
Sharon, I love the Halloween costumes. Thanks for sharing and feel free to share all the pics you want.
M, you look fantastic. I can’t believe you can ride that far so soon after surgery. Way to go.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
I made it to the Moose for the training session this morning by 8:00. We had to help set up as we were the Host Lodge. Once we got started the training lasted 6 hours but was informative. It wasn’t bad except for the room being so cold. I wore long pants and long sleeves expecting that and still froze. I was a bad girl and had a donut. Oh boy was it good and I savored every bite. I had a nice salad for lunch and grilled chicken for dinner, so not a bad day. I’m tired so will try to catch up tomorrow but want to wish you all success with the month.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

After my surgery on May 18th, I packed on 4.5 kg in about 10 days. By about the 11th day I was so uncomfortable and certain areas where in considerable pain, like my right kidney. I guessed post-surgery hyponatremia because I've had exercise-related hyponatremia on one occasion, and started treating it like that and the next day I went to see my surgeon who confirmed it and confirmed that what I was doing was correct.
In the last 4 days I've dropped 4 kg. Almost back to normal again!!
At the same time I also decided to net between 1200 and 1300 calories a day for a week or so. I sort of suspect that I might have gained a little bit of real weight during that time and wanted to nip that in the bud.

Thanks!
These days they do surgeries in the least invasive way they possibly can. This was a hysteroscopy and D&C, so they went in "naturally". They did have to cut out the polyp and fibroid, and remove the lining ... and internal organs do get jostled around a bit ... but at least I have no external incisions to deal with.

Over my calories today by 25, but did an hour of housecleaning and hour and a half of shopping, so i'm OK.
Hugs everyone. Take care of yourselves.

Beth near Buffalo: Your goals for this month are perfect. They are practical, sensible, and likely to be very helpful for improving your overall health in addition to making progress with your weight. WTG!!!
Becca: I your rocks!
Alison: Buying good bedding is a great idea. It lasts for years and provides good service. Money well spent.
Lenora: Regarding gall bladder surgery, I've never heard of the term slug. If it was as huge as my one and only gallstone, it would be impossible to pass without surgery. :noway: Mine was the size of a robin's egg. Life has been much better without the stone & the gallbladder.
Karen in VA: Congratulations on your breakthrough! I am happy for you.
Barbie: 22000 steps in a day is an amazing achievement. WTG!!! :flowerforyou:
Machka: I think it is amazing that your surgery didn't require cutting through your muscles and tissue. It is wonderful that you feel good enough to be active.
I was intent on clening my coffee pot this evening and put two cups of distilled vinegar through it. Unfortunately, I didn't have the basket in place correctly & ended up cleaning most of my kitchen counter with the vinegar. I'm headed to the store to buy more distilled vinegar. I'm not giving up.

Did an hour of a lower body total body DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to use the recumant bike, mainly because I want to listen more to a book I downloaded.
Mary - I know this will work, at least temporarily.
tere - I have to tell you, for the most part I try to eat clean. I admit, that doesn't happen all the time. But I do find that on those times when I have processed food, etc, my stomach says to me "ahhhh...no". Sometimes it even affects my mood, I get more depressed when I have a lot of sugar and/or processed carbs. It's just what your body gets used to. The sad thing is...most people don't understand this and feel you should eat things like hot dogs and hamburgers. I can't remember the last time I had a hot dog and it's been 3 years since I had a hamburger.
Chris in MA - having food prepared for a trip is the only way to go. I do it all the time. You'll feel so much better for it, and your body will thank you
I came home from exercising fri to a pleasant surprise -- the guy was here with his equipment to move the dirt pile we had at the back of the property. Remember I was cutting the weeds all last summer? Well, it was hard for Vince to cut the grass (weeds) around there so we finally had it done. He spread the dirt out (somewhat) in the backyard. Then Vince & I raked and picked up the rocks. Went to church then Lowes Hardware to get grass seed and hay/straw. We'll put it down, even tho this isn't the time to be seeding. What takes, takes. In sept. we're going to have a guy come and put in seed and fertilizer for us. He does a lot of the yards in our development. Can't wait to get that done. After we seed/fertilize/put the straw down hopefully we'll finish trimming the trees then start to work on staining the front door. We can only do that in the a.m. since that's when that part of the house is in the shade. We're getting there.
Made the chicken (the marinade for it) and flank steak so Vince can grill it for later in the week. Then made this chicken & dumpling casserole for this lady at the Green Room (that is her favorite) and made a key lime cake. Her birthday is Wed. and Thurs is the last time this season that I'll be volunteering there. She was always very nice to me. As a matter of fact, she knows that I like Tues and Thurs so she many times gives me the sign up sheet before she posts it so that I can get my days. Unfortunately, next season they're going to combine her job with this guy who is leaving's job. She's been there for a long, long time. I know her, she loves the theater, wouldn't surprise me one bit if she continued, maybe not as much, doing some of the volunteer work. I'll make the icing and ice the cake tomorrow.
We'll be having the pool party again in Aug. I saw this thing on Pinterest where you put blue jello in a cup, let it firm up, then put a gummy shark/fish on top and more jello, firm it all up. After that you put a gummy (for the innertube) with a teddy graham and one of those paper umbrellas in it. I'm just wondering if you can leave that out since it has already firmed up or do you need to keep it refrigerated. Guess I'll give it a try one of these days.
i'm hoping to get the grass seed down tomorrow since I know Vince won't want to work Sun, he'll want to rest up for bowling Mon. Which means I can go in my pool. Hope the weather cooperates. And if not, I can still go in my pool as long as it isn't lightening out.
loved all the pics, especially the ones of people. It's so nice to put a face with a name
Alison - I like that BB&B will let you use multiple 20% off coupons, one on each item
Lenora - Denise used to twirl her hair, too. One time I was having a nightmare. Vince tried to wake me up. I scratched him really badly. He never again tried to wake me from a nightmare....lol Wish you lived closer, you could use our pool -- MY pool....lol. Our condo is decorated in contemporary Salvation Army and our house somewhat.
katie - I knew everything would be fine with your followup, but it's murder waiting.
Karen in VA - thanks for sharing your story with us
Joyce - the lector is the person who does the first and second readings and sometimes the psalm between the readings (if the choir isn't there to do it) and sometimes the prayers of the faithful if the deacon isn't there to do it.
DJ - the thing that gets me (about the lectoring) is the the priest is always asking people to volunteer. And when I do, things like this happen. Does it happen to others and they just don't bother any more?

Machka: I think it is amazing that your surgery didn't require cutting through your muscles and tissue. It is wonderful that you feel good enough to be active.
If they can at all help it, they don't do that anymore. Everything these days is key-hole surgery or going in as naturally as possible. Using water (which unfortunately resulted in my hyponatremia) they dilated me and stretched the uterus out to the size it would be if I were pregnant ... and then, apparently it's easy to reach in and do what they need to do. I think they use an ultrasound or similar to guide the equipment.
I had a bit of difficulty riding last weekend because I suspect that everything hadn't entirely closed up yet ... but it should have done by this weekend and it was indeed much more comfortable this weekend.
Even with my father ... he had a stent installed, after his heart attack 2 years ago, through a blood vessel in his arm. Now they need to fix it and I think they'll do that through a blood vessel in his arm again.2 -
Lenora. Cute story about the pet that had a rock as a stick, or what you all called it " your baby". Priceless! Loved it. I will have fun searching for these rocks and re hiding ones to pass along! Hoping to scrape enough money to get some painting pens and sealer next month so I can paint some to!
Well after a long hiatus of not logging, I have now recommitted to it. I bite it, I WRITE it. In this case log it. Here are my June Goals!
Pretty simple, very doable.
Thanks all.

PS. The Astoria/Megler Bridge is 4.1 miles long. They started construction in 1962 and ended in 1966. Its the longest continuous truss bridge in North America!

Thankfully, this is not nearly as long as my last 3 (or 4) ... but, it is still on the long side ... so skip it if you want.
Katie – Glad you had a good mammogram result. I had my yearly physical last Tuesday and had my mammogram; they called the Radiologist and asked him to swing back by and look at mine. Felt 100% better when they told me it was clear. I have one area on my left breast and it gets very tender from time-to-time. Both older sisters are breast cancer survivors. I firmly believe in monthly self-exams. Get to know what your breasts are supposed to feel like, what’s normal or not. Your MDs ought to have a PA who can sit down with you and explain what lumps, bumps, and other feelings – orange peel areas, inverted nipples, discharge. Call your MD, don't wait. Thankfully, the first time my oldest sister was told by her GP to just watch and wait; she had worked for my GYN for a few months and stopped him on the track at the "Y" and told him. He told her to call his office the next day and he would see her. It was cancer, she was only 38 or 39.
I agree with you that the kids in the spelling bee ‘memorize’ the dictionary; if you saw the part where the youngest one in it did not do well on the written part and saw her disappointment and tears … it makes you wonder what part the parents take or not in these situations. I don’t think any child ought to be in a ‘spelling bee’ until they are at least 10-years of age; or about to enter Middle School. What kind of ‘childhood’ do they have if they are spending what has to be hours studying all the time? I had a friend growing up who ‘memorized’ and could just about repeat something or a chapter, verbatim. SAD! I remember riding to Brownies one day and she had made a ‘98’ on a spelling test. Her mother screamed at her all the way there. That one incident just screamed at me when I saw this (maybe) 6-year-old child tell her Daddy that she did NOT understand why she did not win.
Karen in Virginia – Sometimes I wonder what this world is coming to; but, I have gotten to the point that I don’t watch TV much anymore. Maybe I am sticking my head in the sand; but, when a “D-list comedian, like Kathy Griffin, pulls the stunt she did; I don’t care whether you like or voted for the POTUS (or not) … that crossed the line … TOTALLY … now she is ‘screaming’ that ‘she is the victim’ that the Trumps are trying to ruin her. NO, they aren’t, she and her agent and the photographer did. Her career and life is being ruined? She did it; just because Jim Carrey gave his ‘stamp of approval’ on comedians pushing the limits (and crossing lines, because that is what comedians do) doesn’t mean you have to ‘cross over the line’. If that had occurred 2 years ago; then that person would have been UNDER a Federal prison by now. I hate that it is being played ‘over and over and over’. Sorry, it just seems like the entire world is ‘on fire’.
I agree with you about ‘how we need to treat ourselves’ … like ‘toddlers’ who have feelings and opinions, not like ‘poor babies’ who are dependent on someone to do things for them (feed them, hold them, try to soothe them, anything that required touch). We are adults, we are not ‘babies’ … we’re toddlers … sometimes we do things that are not the best choices and all choices, good, bad, or indifferent have consequences. So we need to decide what kind of consequences we want to have to make us happy and able to carry on with our lives. Losing weight is not a 'race'; but, a journey ... a life-long journey; one in which we 'try' to learn and live 'healthy life-styles'.
I think we all get something ‘good’ out of things posted here. We get encouragement, we get support, we get laughter, we get our butts kicked, we get compliments, we get praise, this site really fulfills us because we have and are friends. We agree that on some things we will always disagree; we are world-wide, so we don’t understand the customs of other countries or even other parts of our own countries. We enjoy pictures of babies, pets, family, vacations, and when we have met a goal.
Sorry that I got all ‘political’ on y’all. I just haven’t ever cared for Kathy Griffin and the fact that she is blaming the family of our POTUS for her situation, is just totally stupid! A fried of mine on FB said that she definitely had a good make-up artist! Hells-Bells there are a lot of us who look better with make-up and some don’t wear it and still look good. But, she looked a lot older than 57 on TV this AM and she was ‘all made up’ (for her 15 minutes of fame going down in a black plume of smoke). Since she has already been ‘black-balled’ from “The View” should tell you something. “The View” (USA) is one of the most liberal TV talk shows on morning TV. WOW!
Beth – Every time Louis sees me typing he asks, “What ‘cha doing, writing a book’? LOL! I had a great childhood, pretty good HS experience, went to ‘art school’ and was not, at all, prepared to have it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and that did not include projects and work to do after hours. I worked a split shift at a deli a couple of blocks from where I lived. Met my husband, got married to the love of my life, had children, then got diagnosed as Bipolar; and, my life took a sharp left turn. But, he never wavered; he has been with me all the time, at every bump in the road, and through a lot of other painful times. A lot of men would have ‘thrown up their hands and tucked tail and run like HELLO-Kitty'. That is what I love about him, what helps me when I forget pretty large portions of my life. I can tell you things that would amaze some of you; would make some ‘feel sorry for me’ but I am NOT a ‘victim’ … I was not brought up to ‘be a victim’. But, there are times when I can ‘remember’ things; but, can’t put it into chronological order.
When I first was diagnosed with being Bipolar and was seeing a ‘psychologist’ I wrote books each week … when I stopped going after she told my mother about an incident that I had told her that I did not want my Mother to know about – blind sighted her. I asked for my books back and she told me that they were ‘MD privileged materials’; my boss set her straight. I got them all back; but, I never felt so ‘violated’ by it. I tore all of them up, totally destroyed a decade of my life – which I won’t get back. I got sent to Emory University Hospital and had 3 EST; worst thing that has happened to me – because it destroyed my memory for a particular period of time. I can remember up to a point; then it is ‘fuzzy’ for at least 10 years. So … what I write is ‘here and there’ … what suddenly comes into my head. Some of it is very, very scary – dark … I try not to go there. When I find myself there the ‘delete’ button is my friend. Yes, I’d like to ‘save’ what I write and go back and read it; but, then I am afraid that I will think I have embarrassed myself or my family. Something I would never purposefully do.
Did I ever tell you ‘why’ I was extremely afraid of my paternal grandmother? Maybe, maybe not; I just never want my children or grandchildren to be ‘embarrassed’ by anything I do or say. Here, I feel safe or have so far. I have good days and bad ones; and, thankfully a lot more ‘good ones than bad ones’.
Love all of you, even the ones who don’t particular ‘care’ for me … and I have met a few. I’ve been accused of making a couple ‘get off this site’. That has been hurtful. But, I am very vocal, I learned to be … I HAD to learn to be. When you are forced into a position of the Jack Nicholson’s character in “One Flew Over the Coo Coo’s Nest” (a movie I have never been able to get past the 2nd set of locking door), then maybe, just maybe you can understand that if I feel backed into a corner, I am going to come out with claws drawn and it might get pretty bloody. So, I really try hard to 'pick my battles carefully'. IF you ever have a problem with me about something I have posted; then, please PM me and then don't post it on the site for all to see. That is the reason for a choice of a PM.
When I was picking up my grandchildren (more specifically my middle granddaughter) – I’d tell her stories – mostly totally funny – and she’d play games with me to help my memory issues. Like the one where you name something starting with an “A” and repeating the entire list all the way to “Z” … I remember one day we were riding down the dirt road we live on; and a Jack Rabbit jumped and it was zigzagging down the road. Well, whoops ... it zigged when it should have zagged and I hit him. Taylor and Madison's mouths dropped open as the turned around and saw it fly up behind the car. "Nana ... you hit him!" "Sorry, he could not make up his mind which way he wanted to go; didn't mean to." I was once driving down the road and a 'city fuzzy tailed rat' (a gray squirrel) started across the street. My boys leaned up when I slowed a little and saw him, Will said, 'bet 'cha can't hit him'. Another case of zigging when he should have zagged. If it had been a cat I would have slowed down and let it cross, or at least honked my horn. But, I won't swerve if a deer jumps out in front of me; or at least I hope I will have the presence of mind not to. Much softer target than an oak tree. Remember to watch when you are driving in the early morning hours or at dusk, even during the middle of the day and especially at night. That gets 'drilled into my head' before I get into the car to go anywhere.
Ginger in Texas – I’ll check out that daisyyellowart.com site … even ‘if’ I am a few days late for it. Sounds interesting.
Joyce – When I got Tux, he was a relatively young cat; but getting close to maybe a 7 or 8 month old kitty … he is huge! Twenty + pounds in winter; loses his winter ‘fat’ and still about 15 pounds. He is an outside cat; but, he is the most ‘loving’ cat I’ve had since my teenage years when I had a green-eyed black cat called “Kissy Kat”. She loved water and would jump up on the dresser and slide down the slope of the claw foot tub we had and just stand there and depending on how much water I had run, sometime she’d lay down in it.
If I have just one more fender-bender in the car I now own, then Louis can trade it in on a truck (even though I am probably upside-down on it). I’ll just stay at home and walk around the property and we’ll be a one-vehicle family, and he can either do the grocery shopping on his way home or we'll do it as a couple. We can handle a 'driving restriction' for a 6-month period of time, when we've had to. LOL!!! My material great-grandmother was “Gran”; my grandmother was “Mimi”, my mother (to me was Mama) until I became an adult and I realized that she consider being called that as ‘childish’; so like my oldest and middle sister did, I started calling her Mother. My two oldest nieces called her “Grandmother”; but, my sons always called her “MeMaw”. That came about because Trey kept hearing me call her Mama; which he called me … When I explained how she was my mama and I was his mama … he’d point at her and say mama; then at me and say ‘me mama’ … so that became “MeMaw”; and, my Daddy was “PaPaw”. He loved it. He finally had ‘his’ boy. I would not give up the 2 years that we lived 25 miles away from my parents for anything. My FnL was a grumpy old man; and set in his ways. Will, our youngest one would do anything to try to make him laugh and succeeded. Will was ‘his’ baby. Trey stayed as far away from him as he could and as far away from my Mother as he could. Louis’ mother’s heart was Will (because he reminded her of her baby – my BnL – who is just like his Dad – but he doesn’t want to ever hear it). When we almost lost him due to his getting dehydrated on a visit with them and he spent a week in the hospital … she always watched him like a hawk.
Mallory (Tami’s daughter) called me “Miss Lenora” until Tami and Will got married and I told Tami and her that they would just ‘have’ to come up with something other than “Miss Lenora”; but, it could not contain any form of Granny. My oldest sister’s grandchildren call her “GG”. My middle sister will never have grandchildren, so oldest sister’s grandchildren are ‘her’ grandchildren.
I’m an alto … but, I did not sing in the church choir or in chorus in HS (for very long). I always thought that I couldn't carry a 'tune'. I do ‘sing’ in the car all the time (nobody can hear me and I think I blend in nicely).
Barbie – I’ve been over the one over the Pontchartrain Lake Bridge many times … it goes on forever!!! It’s been years and years … actually we rode over it when it was just a 2 lane bridge; haven’t ridden over it since they have built the ‘matching’ bridge going the opposite direction.
Cracker and I stayed inside on Friday when Louis and Trey took down about 20 dead pines. Down because of beetles; but, not the kind that take out a entire stand of trees in a matter of a few months. But, they were close to the house and we did not want them to come crashing down on the house or the two out-buildings. We have a big tree that ‘thankfully’ it hasn’t gotten them because we’d have to pay to have it taken down. About 2’ in diameter. If you cut the trees down, then they don’t spread. Apparently it disorients the beetles if they can fly from tree-to-tree.
A couple of days ago, my DnL and son came over; my DnL gave me a 8-pack of Le Croix pomegranate/raspberry cans of it saying she had tried to give it away, and knew that I like 'sparkling' drinks .. I took a swallow and did not 'think' I could get to the sink quick enough. I told Louis that we can use it for target practice. Today Jenn came over to bring us a couple of items from the grocery store and I told her it was the nastiest drink I had ever put in my mouth! Certainly did not need to swallow it to make that decision. LOL!
Well, night-night. As much as I hate the liberal slant of “Saturday Night Live” I still watch it. I do enjoy Leslie Jones. I do think she is funny [looking].

Nature has the best paints, the most perfect sense of proportion, and balance. I am in awe sometimes how nature paints my world. You know when you look at branches of a grove of trees? I mean really look, and your eyes focus on the swaying, and it startles you because of how alive it looks? I want nature to do that to me everyday. The moment we stop paying attention is the moment we stop appreciating it.

Good evening. I had a busy, but relaxing day. I actually slept in this morning until 9 am. I usually get up at 5:30 to run the dog out, but this morning I went back to bed and fell asleep. And then I took a nap this afternoon for an hour. I am feeling pretty good. Hubby brought home strawberries this morning which had just been picked. They are incredible. I forgot how much I missed Oregon strawberries. Here is my fur baby. He is a sweetie. Never mind the mess by my bed!

Thanks, Katla!! It's such a simple concept, isn't it? Just take care of toddler needs like any responsible adult would, and quit indulging the "poor baby". Now why didn't I think of that?

Love you ladies
Karen - Yes, the hardest lesson in life is to learn how to listen to your own needs. I like Becca's "keep it simple" - that is how I try to play it. When I was younger I had no idea of the stresses I was putting myself through. I put myself through hell. Now even a minor wobble is a sign I need to "correct". That applies to every area - weight, tidiness, money, relationships, drinking, - I am trying to keep the path clear. Big ((((HUGS)))) to you. You've got this!
Went into the exercise room this morning and put on the radio, only to hear the news of the London Bridge attack. DH texted his daughter to check she wasn't involved. (She works round the corner) She has just rung me to say she was a long way away. I'm sure she will text DH who is at cricket. It is always a bit strange when it is an area you know very well, like your own backyard. When i lived in London we used to go to Borough Market often to shop and have a drink in the pubs there. Nowdays we often walk over the bridge to see my stepdaughter for lunch when we go up to London, It is a place I still think of as "home turf". I feel very sad.
I've just seen the first of the people who might help us with moving the raised beds, levelling the ground, repairing old beds and a new shed. He will drop in an estimate. He did turn up dead on time. Good start! Got one more to see at 2pm and I've left a message with a bigger company. Now that we are both older I don't want to incur injuries doing stuff that we can pay for, plus getting rid of waste is a huge problem. Better a man with a truck!
Still doing well on my alcohol chart. It definitely is working for me. I've had a month of being well below recommended limits. Our government recommends below 14 units a week. A large glass of wine (250 mls) is 3 units. I am pleased and relieved to have got a grip on it.
On June 11th I will have been logging my food and exercise almost every day for five years. It is just a way of life for me now. I can't imagine not doing it. And I still need it to keep me on the straight and narrow.
I do a lot of "copy yesterday", a lot of "add food" that I already have on there, and even more of "quick add" for things I already know the calorie content of, or are complicated like a stew. That makes it easy and quick to do. My exercise is nearly always "copy yesterday". I am such a creature of habit.
I will type a bit more memoir today.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Good morning Ladies!
In NJ sitting on the porch of my BFF's house by the ocean, can't see it though, having coffee and and quick catch up with all of you.
Visit with Mom yesterday began well then rapidly went south after an hour,
She has dementia, I don't think she knew who I am, but after an hour she got very agitated and it was decided that I better leave. I drive 250 miles to visit for 2 hours, but that is the reality now. Fortunately I combine the trip with seeing my BFF and her husband who are so loving and supportive. Didn't eat much of the food I packed, but did have 1/2 of the chocolate bar I shared with my mother. I try to bring her a treat that she enjoys when I visit, it is a small thing we can share.
Leonora, tzachi, not to sure of the spelling, is a Greek yogurt based dip which is very low in calories.
1000 days on MFP today, 52 lbs. lost, more importantly, all you wonderful ladies gained along with better health both mental and physical and renewed self confidence. Thank you all!

chris I remember the long drives to visit my mom only to not be recognized, her being upset and keeping the visit very brief. I think it is brilliant that you combine the trip with a visit with your bff-I also think it's special that you share some chocolate with your mom--so so hard, the littlest of moment are what I had to cling to, remember to take care of yourself on the drive home with good food choices and rest afterwards if possible.
A pretty morning ahead, will exercise and continue cleaning up including a fridge reorganization. Clearing the decks and working on lessening food waste this month.

Good morning all,
I hope everyone has a successful Sunday and get outside.
When I worked Texas Parks and Wildlife our agencies' slogan was "Life's better outside." Which reminds me of the TV show on the Animal Planet channel called "Lone Star Law." It is all about the game wardens in Texas. (Try to watch it!)
It's neat to see the men and women and the trucks and boats!! I drove a truck once in a while and find pride driving with the TPWD emblem on the door. I miss that being retired. It was the best agency to work for. (I worked for TxDOT too)
Lanette I have my grandmother's buffet and table she bought in Los Angeles back in 1924. I'll always keep them along with my Ethan Alan hutch I have.
Bridges: I love them!! I crossed over this wood bridge in northern Arkansas when we decided to take a back road from Bentonville to Branson. It was cool, but stayed at the posted speed limit!!
Have a good day!

Katla I have forgotten to put the carafe in its spot before making coffee. I had a mess from that one too.
One more week at temporary full time job. I a have enjoyed it overall. It has convinced me I do not want to work full time again. I prefer the part-time. Ill have more time to comment once I am done. I have tried to at least skim most days to keep up.
Mary hope you are more comfortable now. Baking soda and oatmeal bathes can help too. They do make a clear calamine lotion so you don't have the staining. Adding lavender helps with preventing any scaring.

Tzatziki dip (white Greek yogurt with cucumber) is very nice.

Good morning!
Barbie, I just took my inner toddler out for a morning walk. Thank you for sharing that - I need to honor it more in myself AND in others.
Those of you who do strength training at home via the "Strong Women Stay Young" model - please tell me about the brands/types/sizes of dumbbells and ankle weights you use. And where you got them. I have an assortment I've collected through the years, but getting up over 6# will be the next challenge.
I've been doing some internet looking - but before I hit the purchase button, I would like to hear more ideas.
Thank you!
Lanette

I did a goals pyramid for workouts and diet and found the granularity helpful for staying on track. Way more than most people will want to read, but I posted it below. I have another plan for dog training
I looked at other goal setting you ladies have here and noticed that I am not including my homelife activities into my plan. I'll work on that next month.
Gotta roll, need to get my Sunday cardio in and logged.

Hi all,
Katie - glad your second test results were clear!
Heather - thinking of you and the other UK ladies. So sad, the hatred that inspires these people.....
Michelle - those jello treats sound darling. If you make them be sure to post a picture.
Enjoying this sorting/decluttering adventure. It's odd how I let something hang over my head and bother me instead of just tackling it. Human nature I guess!

My first time posting. Always have been shy and private. I realize that I need to extend myself, be more open about who I am and what I am up to. From reading the various posts, I know I am not alone. I have lost 90 pounds so far and it is getting harder. I found the discussions on goal setting to be beneficial. I also appreciate the positive encouragement that I see on this blog.8

Becca – Love the flowers; my DMnL would have really loved them, she was a lavender type of woman.
fvsp1213 – Cute dog; sign your posts with the name you prefer to be addresses as; give a location (general or specific), and then tell us a little something about yourself, family, pets, hobbies, goals, and that sort of thing so we’ll get to know you better. Welcome to the site.
Heather – WOW! What a testimony to MFP and making it a ‘way of life for you’. I’ve been here 700+ days and it is working for me. I need to change up something to ‘kick my butt off this plateau I’ve been on’. But, very happy with where I am going.
Kelly – Makes you want to run to Hobby Lobby and buy several packages of stick on eyes to carry around. Maybe a few mustaches and/or lips. I think I liked the ‘frog’ the most because not too many people would see it as such without the eyes. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed the signs as well; but, I did not ‘understand’ the first one; but, probably something simple.
Dana and Lanette – My oldest sister got our parents’ dining room table and hutch. The table folds down to one that will seat only two; and, with leaves in it will seat 12 comfortably. Each of us got 4 chairs. Once she got it we (both middle sister and I) swapped out a ‘choice’ in order for her to have all 4 chairs. I got her kitchen table and chairs; then, we had one made and we gave it to DOS and DDnL#1. They later got her Granny’s table and chairs; but, in bad condition. Chairs creaked when you sat in them. They later had a table made similar to ours. I can remember wondering how my sister ‘stood’ the table and chairs she gave me. The chairs were ‘miserable’; but, they had had it for over 25 years. We have 5 Windsor chairs; but, I cannot remember how or where we got the 4 armless chairs. OH, yeah, I remember … we bought it with a round table and my DYS was really trying to help by cleaning up and used Comet on it. Took the shine right off the Formica top. We ended up selling it in a garage sale (without the leaf in it). I think Louis put a clear sealant on it. I could not be mad at him; because he didn’t know it would ruin the top of it. I bought a similar arm chair that isn’t exactly like the 4 armless chairs; but, close enough.
I can remember going across a wooden bridge at “Higgin’s Mill” on Sundays in the summer and playing in the water and over the rocks. There was a huge grist mill there; and, the big wheel still turned. The parents of one my middle sister’s HS friends owned the land. It had missing pieces; and the wood in the opposite direction where the tires went, were warped. I’d cry whenever we’d go across it because it creaked and all that and I thought we’d fall in. I think the area has now been made into a ‘gated community’ and some of it is under the Lake when they damned up “High Falls”. I think it was a suspension bridge as well.
