Errr... that seems odd... In the USA Market, they would be required to report the EPA measurements which are in MPG, so no idea why in your market they pick 100 liters. May they think that the bigger numbers will look more impressive and sell cars?
Ah no - they probably DO in their sales brochures (I’ve never bought new) but this is a function in the actual vehicle. So it tells you for example that your fuel usage is 12.08 miles per hundred litres. Which is a useless thing to know. There is a calculation I found online which helps convert that into a MPG rating but I forget what it is. I mean, if they told you KM per litre or hundred litres it would make sense but still.0 -

Take the 12.08 and multiply it by 3.79, that'll give you MPG. I have a German car.. it's perfect.

DH is going out of town for the afternoon. This would usually mean I get a nice long cathartic run in, but my progress seems to be going backwards. My peak was 89ish miles months ago, and has been less and less each month. Lovely. October was supposed to be a stellar month with cool weather and a steroid shot that petered too soon. I'll probably go out and see how much torture I can take anyway. He'll, I might even take some Advil so I don't miss any opportunity at gut wrenching pain and diarrhea... I ate a whole bag of Terra exotic potato chips last night.1 -

@PastorVincent I had the FR235 before, which is an excellent watch. However, the 935 has an incredible amount of battery life compared to it, and has a lot more data, especially when connected to the Garmin running pod (which should arrive in the next few days and will give me useful running form data). Some of the things I like are little things, like being able to access certain information without having to go into run mode first (and needlessly connect to GPS), something that always bugged the crap out of me on the 235. Other things are the additional sensors, like temperature, which may not seem like much, but to have the actual temperature at each point in a long run can be useful to know when looking at the data afterwards, rather than Garmin pulling in the temp recorded at some nearby airport at the start of your run. I like the idea of being able to record 3D distance and speed data if desired, rather than 2D (although I've read that the implementation is a little buggy at the moment), meaning that elevation changes will actually be reflected in runs rather than having to look at Strava's GAP data. And I still need to let it record runs for a week, but it'll be interesting to see training status (i.e. do I need to take it easy, or can I push harder), which is what I use Runalyze for. Finally, one other metric that looks interesting is the running performance metric, so that you can see at what point in a run did performance start to degrade, and at what point did it collapse entirely...yeah, that's something that is obvious during a run itself, but useful to see when going back and looking at run data days or weeks later. So overall, the 235 is a great watch, but the 935 is awesomely impressive, especially if you're a data nerd like me.4 -
@Elise4270 Yeah, I slept with it on, just as I did with the 235...another reason why I love the lightness of the FR watches. I haven't looked at the data yet, but I don't think anything has changed between the 235 and 935 in that respect, so you still get to see sleep patterns of deep sleep vs light sleep etc.1

Mine doesn't have sleep metrics. I had a watch for a short time (basis) before my 620, that did sleep . It mostly confirmed that I'm a poor sleeper. My husband has the 235. I bet he doesn't even know it'll do sleep (I didn't).
Glad to hear all about the 935. I'm really looking forward to getting one. Sounds amazing having all that data.2 -
Did 7 miles this morning. Very happy with my 10:01 pace. Much better than I expected.

That was me. No, the steering wheel adjustment lever isn't in the same place on every vehicle. It's somewhere on the steering shaft, but where and what it feels like vary by manufacturer. A simple up/down I could have managed while driving; I've found that in rental cars. But the Fit has up/down and telescope. I didn't know it moved with that complexity until I dug out the owner's manual, and I certainly wouldn't want to mess with that while moving. However, if I'd known where the lever was it would have been an option to pull over and adjust.
It could be friendlier to find, but I wouldn't rate that very high on the list of engineering priorities. After all, this is an adjustment I expect most owners will make once during the lifetime of the car. It would be used more often if the car is driven by two people who need the wheel in different positions; but I will be the only driver of this car (other than mechanics) for the foreseeable future.0 -

@amymoreorless there is a distinct possibility that when you run your marathon you may feel the same about the distance as you do now. You may not be a marathon runner. You won't know for sure until you've done yours and your after the race thinking "I can do better, when can I do another?" or "This isn't for me. I did not enjoy the last 6 miles at all."
Rest day today followed by an recovery week with my new 3n3 training. Which will alternate run days with cross training days. I want to work on my 10k time. I'm pretty sure I can do a sub 50 so the goal is sub 45. The biggest race in Western Mass is The Holyoke St. Patrick's Day road race. This race will be my target, it has great sentimental value and my youngest brother should be racing that day and every other runner I know in the area.4 -

Sept/Oct are usually the best running conditions due to weather and the conditioning from a summer of training.
September - Good with 3 events and fantastic weather for all of them
October - Has been a disaster for me. My MoJo left town after my last event and I have been struggling to move.
The weather has been great and I have a grand total of 32km for the month It must be my Cut Back Month.
Just to add to my October Fun Like @Orphia I Tweaked my back on Friday, doing the high athletic feat of getting out of my truck - I stepped on a Frozen Slush pile ( that fell off another vehicle ) which then collapsed and I Lurched with one leg in the vehicle and one leg outside. Walking but no running as I can still feel the tenderness.
Limited Running = Grumpy - Kinda like a Taper2 -
@midwesterner85 I'm so sorry about the BG issues, but still you completed the marathon. That is a huge accomplishment in and of itself and to do it despite the BG issues is awesome. Most people would have quit.

Upcoming week run will be sort of a mini taper leading up to Chicago’s Hot Chocolate 15k on Sunday. Will be fun running in the city with such a large crowd.

Woke up to another gorgeous fall day. Although I slept really poorly last night and almost bailed on meeting my friends, I'm glad I did. The run this morning was great and just what I needed for the anxiety stuff that was keeping me up.

@midwesterner85 - I'm always impressed by people who start having a rough time early and still manage to finish a marathon. Good job! And, you got to see beautiful, scenic Hebron, Nebraska! (For those on the coasts, what passes for rural in upstate NY makes the land around Hebron look like the middle of nowhere.)1

I don't know what the hell happened because I swear I replied to @juliet3455 . Can you get out more with your trail group while the snow is at bay? Sometimes the grpup dynamic will force you out more. Our town's group is decidedly team "off season". Uhhh the hell is this off of which you speak? lol0

@girlinahat "Miles per 100 Litres", wth? That's one weird unit! And I already was confused when an (American, obviously ^^) colleague tried to convince me his SUV didn't use much more fuel than my little car. We both struggled to compare his "between 20-25 miles per gallon" and my "6-7 litres per 100km". Good thing google can answer these kind of questions within seconds. Whatever did people do before the internet?
Although my car is a Mazda, and the info display does show me the consumption in litres/100km. So maybe it's a setting you can change?
@midwesterner85 Oh no, what bad luck that you had blood sugar problems today of all days! It's so impressive that you still finished your marathon. It wasn't the race you've been dreaming of, but you still have every right to be proud of yourself!
@amymoreorless As garygse wrote - the next time 18 will be a little less horrible Last year I did three ~20mi runs, and the third one was A LOT easier than the first.

Thank you all for the encouraging words. The most depressing part is that I really try not to let T1D affect my success or lack thereof in life. So when I have bad days at the worst time, it is doubly bad. In all reality, it would be easier to accept my terrible time if it were caused by anything else at all - getting struck by lightning, for example. It isn't just the terrible time... it is that the results are undeniable evidence of vulnerability and inferiority that I would like to believe do not even exist. I want to continue to think that I can do just as well at anything as anybody else, but I just can't continue to believe that anymore. That's the depressing part... to have to accept having a weakness.
@MobyCarp Yes, Hebron, NE is scenic and the run takes place on the Oregon Trail; but also the California Trail and Pony Express Trail go through that area. There is some history in that area. I've been hiking in NY, though, and I know there are some great scenic areas on the western border along the Delaware River.1 -
My run yesterday was really great! Just in time - my run on Friday was quite a struggle, despite being slow and short. I was going to do the "Zombies Run!" virtual race, but I felt so sluggish already when I walked out of the door, that I postponed it to Saturday.
So Saturday was race day. I wasn't quite sure what goal to set. My last virtual 10k I ran in less than 1 hour, but depressingly enough, I'm less fit now than at the beginning of the year. I'm still building back distance and speed after hurting my knee beginning of September, and the progress is so slow! There would be a 20km race next Sunday, but I couldn't decide if I should sign up or not. The last time I ran 20+ km was on August 23rd; the long runs in the past four weeks were 10.5km, 14km, 11.5 km and 15km; I was pretty sure I could somehow finish 20km, but race them?
Anyway, I had my 10k race now. Almost one year ago, I ran my first marathon with a pace of 6:36min/km, and I was too proud to plan running a 10k slower than that, so in the end I decided to aim for a 6:30min/km pace, for a finish time of 1:05h.
When I started to run it was cloudy, around 20°C (~70°F). Within the first 3km, the temperature dropped to 11°C (~50°F), the wind picked up and it started to rain. Strangely enough, that was just what I needed; I found myself speeding up a bit after that and managed to finish my race in 1:01:56. Far from a PR; but a lot better than I had hoped.
Just as I finished the virtual race, the sky split open and the rain turned into a downpour. And because I'm crazy, I decided to take that as a reason to continue running Not as fast as before, since the race was over, but at that moment I decided that if I would manage to run at least 17km in less than 2 hours that day, I would go ahead and sign up for the 20k race next Sunday. I guess running in the storm made me feel badass enough to consider it ^^
At some point during the second part of my run the rain stopped. Although at that point I was running through a forest, so I still got lots of water dripping down from the leaves. Or just the leaves themselves falling down, together with acorns, chestnuts and whatever else. Fun!
In the end I ran 17.6km in 1:59h. That finally gave me the confidence back that I could run a 20km race next week, so I'm signed up for it now. Maybe I'll be lucky and the weather will be horrible again.

Ran 10km without water for the first time today. The max I've run without water up till now is 7km.12
