Yep you'll have issues with calipers if there's a lot of loose skin. I have a feeling most methods will be tricky and the best may well be an eyeball but even then there are limitations depending on location and severity of the loose skin. Someone else may be able to help better though, I'm just your amateur armchair estimator.
that's what I figured. I've got a stocky Germanic build and most of my weight was packed on the middle and on the hips. Good news is, that's where I've been losing a lot of inches, but that has left behind a lot of un-needed "folds" in the middle. And of course, we can't forget the "bat wings"......1 -

I've always told my neuro that my most troublesome symptoms are the peripheral symptoms and not the head pain (because drugs take care of that) and this time, the whole deal was about the peripheral symptoms, and they were on overdrive.
By far, my biggest trigger is weather, and another system is coming by in a day or so while I'm still in postdrome mode. Lovely.
Anyway, this is just a rant because brain fog is one of the symptoms that's making me not really have my head in the game, and I want to focus more, but it's not really happening right now.
I can't even imagine. I have a bit of a headache today along with still being a bit fatigued from all the sleep issues I've had this week and I'm having a hard enough time with that never mind what you're dealing with. Brain stuff is so hard to treat, from mental illness through to neuro issues like epilepsy and migraines. Maybe one day humans will crack it.
I have trouble with visual assessment of myself because of loose skin and yes with the calipers on some spots and not others (because they aren't areas that have accumulated loose skin).
Even when I posted pictures elsewhere and asked for an assessment, I was told that my loose skin confounded estimations.
Saying that, I was still pretty close in my eyeball estimate to where everyone else came, and calipers put me lower. Tape measure puts me a bit lower than eyeball estimate but not as low as calipers.
I've settled for just going by what looks okay at this point.3 -

Thanks.
And take care of you! Sleep and headaches are so closely entwined. At least in my world they are. I also know that this is not the most spectacular time of the year right now for you, but each day is getting a little longer, so there is that.
And so much yes to brain stuff being a bear to treat. My issues have come a long way. When my migraines were at their worst, they were almost seizure-like in their intensity. So complaining about what I have no seems almost churlish.0 -

My stocky build is from my Italian grandmother! I always say I'm from peasant stock.
Let's see, how to tell this story without naming names...
My grandmother and my husband's grandmother essentially had the same name. If you know Italian.
One was Angela. One was Angelina.
As for the last name, let's say the root name was Smith (of course it wasn't, but just go with this). My husband's grandmother was Angela Smith.
My grandmother was Angelina Of'Smith. (Italianized, of course)
Going back to feudal times, this means that his family were the landowners and my family were the peasants who worked his family's lands. Maybe. Ish. We joke about this because our families are from the same regions.

Still no definitive diagnosis for my Mario, so we will be heading to see the specialists at the vet school, which is an hour up the road from me. I should hear from them in a couple of days. Unless they want to keep him in for some reason, I will likely just spend the day and park myself in the uni library to work.9

OK. So... things have not been going well lately. Water weight is a real mind-kitten, and traveling and the holidays didn't help. Which sent me into a bad purge cycle, which then led to a bad binge cycle. When when I then tried to *break* said cycle, led to a seven pound weight gain. That was... not awesome.
Searching for control this morning, I went all data hulk smash. Basically, I should have lost three pounds since Thanksgiving, based on intake v. output (including the binges -- figuring that calories still count even if you're purging out the water), and I think I would have done that, had it not been for the damn water weight. Because I was hovering around 125 before that bad cycle, and then was 122 during -- but I started at 127ish. So I can believe that it's in the right-ish direction, if I hadn't let my brain take control.
More importantly, this confirmed my theory -- that my optimal level of Synthroid was where I had it pre-May, and that I should have fought harder when they tried to decrease it. (I had enough extra meds from med changes floating around that I could titrate to the dose that I felt was more appropriate, which I did in mid-November.) I've now got a spreadsheet showing that, and I'll take it to my endo when I see him in February. I'm sure he won't be happy that I titrated up, but I wasn't happy with not being listened to. I don't know what my Plan B is if he doesn't permanently agree to the higher dose.
(Note: It's not that the hypo slowed my metabolism. I know that -- the BMR testing was fine. Water weight gain that can't be budged by diuretics is common with uncontrolled hypothyroid.)
I hate that I basically lost a year's worth of losses because no one listened to me when I said something was wrong, and that I a) allowed the endos to do this, and b) didn't fight harder when the first dietitian and my old GP said it was "normal" to gain weight and that it was just the "disease process" of ED recovery. I was never underweight, and they could never provide me with studies showing how it *was* the process. No wonder people don't listen to doctors. It doesn't help patients recover when you lie to them (not out of malice, but of ignorance) and you hammer in that if they don't just go along, they don't want recovery.
It's so ridiculous. I know that I just need to go back to a deficit, and it'll come off (and my therapist and dietitian can just deal with it -- both were as baffled as I am, and both are also on the page of "do what you have to do to keep yourself sane"), but I am incredibly resentful that I allowed medical providers to do this to me.16 -

And introducing Nugget, who is finally home with us. I am sleep deprived and constantly on the go with this little whirlwind demon puppy, but i am so in love with him and i know this puppy stage won't last forever (I hope)
At the moment i can only get decent pictures of him when he's asleep, as he doesnt sit still long enough to get a good one. The sunglasses and beer bottle (small 375ml stubby) are to show scale lol He was a massive 1.5kg (3.4lbs) last week!

It's weird how that works, isn't it? We're all the same age group. I have spider veins, but no actual varicose ones, despite my mother having them at my age.0 -
Adorable, Christine!2

I think mine appeared due to stand up/walking jobs my whole life??0 -
I just have the motherload of stretch marks instead. Fair warning to anyone thinking about stopping being an elite level gymnast and running head first straight into delayed puberty!5

Oh yeah, I have plenty of those!!
But mostly the gams look pretty good considering I supposedly middle-aged (wtf???).2 -

Fear not my love, I have those as well, on top of everything else The boob stretch marks came from them growing seemingly overnight when i was 14! Then the belly and hips copped them after pregnancy!
I've never been able to wear low cut tops/dresses that show even the teeniest bit of cleavage, and haven't worn a bikini since i was 18 years old.0 -
What a beautiful puppy. A tip for the future. Be careful what he gets for christmas if you're expecting company. Having to clean last minute isn't fun (speaking from experience).

My boobs are actually pretty alright curiously! Because they are generous.
A few tummy ones from being fat but the ones all over my legs/butt/thighs/inner thighs/backs of knees have been there since I was about 13. Never cared enough not to wear a bikini.6 -
