Okay.. so i thought i had seen it all.. i mean all my time here with people posting crazy cleanses and detox drinks, different pills, diets, etc..
So i was going through the main feed of my pinterest which i had been using to find recipes, however sometimes crazy things end up in the feed.. or at least i hope it's not just me lol
Anyway i happened to stumble upon this image surrounded in pictures of apple crumble and shrimp pasta recipes, cat pictures and fitness quotes.. and what looks like zombies LOL which ironically i've never searched for on pinterest either.
The image took me here
https://www.healthyremediesteam.com/2017/08/15/consume-drink-sleeping-clear-colon-everything-youve-consumed-throughout-day/
and while this supposed colon emptying drink has the "tried and true" ACV... apparently this one is all about parsley..
Have we gotten to the point of weight loss now where not only do people think they need to detox and cleanse their body with ingredients that do absolutely nothing, but we also have to a completely empty colon daily?
The whole article is just terrible.. lol.. but this is actually my first run in with the magical properties of parsley.
(However i will be making that shrimp pasta)

You just need to look at this site.
3 day water fasts
Obese yet can't eat over 700 calories a day
Drink a gallon of water a day
Proccessed foods are addictive
Diet soda makes you fat
ACV the obesity cure
That is all just from threads I have read in the last 20 minutes.
Our Doctors don't help, they spread the mis information. Our governments should be making Drs tell people about calorie counting if they want weight loss advice.30 -
Weight loss is so hard4

I get these things on my pinterest all the time. They make me giggle. All you need to have epic poop is spend some quality time on prescription morphine! (trust me... I had to fight them with a stick) tmi, I know.2

Colonoscopy preps do that. No way would I want to do that just because........10

My Pintrest page is completely jacked, because 1 day I searched "Dairy Free, Low Calorie Recipes" and since then the "woo" is outrageous. Then I started clicking and reading the articles "for fun", I honestly just wanted to know what crap was actually out there - because the only diet things I know of I learned here. And then it got worse. I think Pintrest thinks I'm 300lbs and desperate to lose 1/2 my body weight with any extreme method necessary.
I honestly just wanted to yummy dinner ideas that won't drive my BF to stomach pain!7 -
Pinterest is a mess of bad diet information. It's actually comical at this point.
I never even glance at the front page anymore, I just enter my search terms and pretend that crap doesn't exist. I mostly use it for party planning (they have some great ideas for Halloween cocktails, decorations and stuff) or oddly, finding good NPC portraits for my Dungeon and Dragons campaigns...2 -

Over my long illustrious diet history, one of the many ways I tried losing weight was being a raw vegan (not the Freelee type).
I did enjoy the food I ate quite a bit while eating that way, it was just a lot of work and got very expensive. I was being careful to eat a lot of protein, which is why I didn't lose any weight. Because nuts. D'uh.
Anyway, one of the smoothies I used to make myself back then was pear, pineapple, and parsley. It was really refreshing and tasty.
It did not empty my colon. The only thing that's ever done that was colonoscopy prep. And seriously, if you ask people who have had actual colonoscopies about the process they'd just laugh and roll their eyes at the obsession some people seem to have with the idea of colon cleansing. Especially those of us who have to have them more frequently thanks to irregular findings.7 -
Oh my goodness, my thoughts exactly when I look at Pinterest!! I always roll my eyes to the ones where you 'lose 20lbs in 2 weeks' etc.. so much woo out there and people who don't know any better will be taken in.
and one especially comes to mind from Pinterest: rub vaseline on your breasts ladies to see them get bigger in a matter of weeks...YEAH RIGHT! wonder what I can do to make mine get smaller, maybe if I heat the vaseline and then apply it, maybe that would work6 -

Internet picture sharing achieved perfection with cat photos. It should have stopped there.20

I find it interesting that all of these posts, articles, etc are always about weight loss and never about the real challenge which is maintaining a healthy weight. I guess that's not sexy enough.9

This is a trend I have noticed lately too, but I am not sure if it is because it is more prevalent or I am just paying more attention. The hard part about it for me is I know full well how people can get suckered into it since I have been there myself (I was once a cult of carb member). When you are desperate and grasping at straws it's easy to latch onto anything which you think might work, and even easier to engage in gargantuan feats of cognitive dissonance defending it even when the truth is right there in front of your face. I wasted months of my life barely losing anything believing in a false narrative. I consider myself a relatively intelligent guy, but that did not prevent this from happening. I am far from alone, but this provides no comfort for those wasted months I will never get back.
According to recent CDC data (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db219.pdf) obesity in the US is at a record high, and fad diets which promise the moon and chew people up and spit them out is not helping.11 -
Whenever you look up weight loss or healthy recipes there will always be someone screaming about a cleanse of some kind. A juice cleanse, a soup diet or something like that. Or you have to eat clean in order to lose weight, or vegan.
Or the other suggestion is intermittent fasting. I have seen that it does help to lose some weight if it's done correctly, but not everyone can do intermittent fasting.
(Also if you have the shrimp pasta recipe I would love to try it!)1 -
Critical thinking is becoming a lost art. Derp and woo is consumed and perpetuated by the intellectually lazy. We can thank the Apple's and Zuckerbergs of the world for our declining abilities in basic writing, literacy, and critical thinking.

I blame Pinterest for all the crazy things my friend has tried to get me to do to lose weight. She swears that some turmeric drink concoction is magical. And when I told her I'd gained about 15 lbs because I'd stopped tracking my calories she said "no, you just need to poop, you're just bloated." I wish I'd taken a picture of her face when I said "No, I'm not bloated. It is fat, I can feel my butt and my stomach jiggle and that isn't bloat." because anytime she gains weight she swears she's just bloated and all she needs to do is drink some kombucha.14

makes me wonder if they actually believe their own information. Like, My aunt its very clear shes fooling herself with her "nutritional science" -remember her wendys meal?-
Where im pretty sure not- Especially where she has me telling her how i lost my weight and having her argue with me im wrong- I think its not that she believes in any of it, Just finds comfort in the excuses. If i eat all of the macros ill lose because its healthier- If i dont lose because this drink, Its the drinks fault not the sheer amount of calories i eat daily.
Just a side effect of people not being as ready to change as they think2 -

If you do find a way to use Vaseline to make them smaller, contact me.
I think someone did a post yesterday about inventions. I'd like a non-surgical, non-evasive way to make mine smaller too. I'd pay good money for something that worked...LOL1 -

Because people who follow those ridiculous protocols never get to maintenance in the first place.

I was going to say... the drink is called bi-PegLyte LOL0 -
My Pinterest for a while kept showing me a "discreet solution to bladder problems" and I cannot figure out why. Other targeted stuff I kinda got but....? It was incessant!1

Y'all....I saw a bottle of "Detox Apple Cider vinegar" that has cinnamon, honey, and lemon in it, with the mother. I'm not sure what infuriated me more...that this existed, or that there was only one left on the shelf. It's also about 3 times as much as a the bottle of regular apple cider vinegar next to it. What a sad waste of money.2
