11/17 - 239.6 - WOO!! I made it to the 230s! I had a sort-of goal to be 235 by Thanksgiving. Now that it's much closer to possible, I think I'm going to really push myself to try to achieve it!

This is good, since I went over by a couple hundred calories yesterday and my sodium was higher than normal. My exercise is on again, off again, because of cold rain. I need to find an indoor option, but don't want to join a gym as we're moving in a few months. Maybe jumping jacks in my bedroom!

Good. I'm experimenting with lower carb and higher fat - not extreme, just a nudge - to see what happens. Remains to be seen what the long-term effect is on weight loss, but I will say that I'm not as hungry!

My goodness, the time slipped up on me! I didn't realize that it was the start of round 22 already! Anyway, I ended this round lighter than I started. So without farther ado, it's on to the next goal! I've got plenty more weight I need to discard! To say I lost it indicates it was a mistake, but when I say I discarded it, everyone knows I did it on purpose!

Got on up this morning and went to exercise. Changing up my routine to include the elliptical. I want to start weight training, but I think that will me one of my targets for the New Year! If I can make it through Thanksgiving and Christmas and still come out no more than 205 lbs., I will consider it a super victory! That's my plan anyway! Got to increase the exercise; that's for sure!

Didn't realize I forgot to post my weight yesterday; spent the last hour looking for yesterday's post to copy! Took me a while of going back and forth to realize it just wasn't there! I've never done that before. I worked yesterday, and it's been a while since I worked on a Saturday. I will start on my 2 week vacation on the 19th, so I've been trying to make a little extra spending money! Will be working more hours next week too, but not on Saturday!

Had a bad night last night trying to get used to my C-Pap machine! It fit great the first two nights, but last night it was so uncomfortable. I was so tired this morning, I didn't get up until it was almost time for me to go to work. We are really getting busy now - back to back phone calls - and it's not even black Friday yet. Thank God I won't be working Black Friday; I'll still be on vacation.

Here we go again!!! Back in for round 22 (my round 20). I'm proof that this works...trust the process and the weight will come off. It's not all down...lots of ups along the way. This daily check in group has been a huge part of keeping me going. Many thanks to all of you who have been around for the long haul and welcome to the newbies in round 22, you're going to love it here!!

There was an update on my Garmin app last week that has a rolling 7 day average on the home screen. I think that if I keep an eye on this to make sure the number stays in the 145 range I'll be golden!!

11/9: - 144.6 - had a great run yesterday and ate well (probably a bit under maintenance). Looks like we're getting snow tonight so that may have been my last trail run for a while, not sure I'll brave the bluffs in the snow. So I'll be heading to the basement for my workouts in the mean time...elliptical and kettlebells...
11/10: - 144.2 - Lots of steps in the showroom yesterday and a bit of a calorie deficit to give me a buffer for the weekend meals and cocktails. There are 3" of snow on the ground and it's -25C with the wind chill this morning so I put on my workout gear instead of my running gear when I got up this morning. The dog is going to be very disappointed...
11/11: - 144.6 - right where I expected.
11/12: - 146.6 - Wine and salty snacks...but not over 7000 calories worth...so this is mainly water retention. I should see it gone in the next couple of days with lots of water and watching the sodium.
11/13: - 147.2 - I did NOT do a great job of NOT shoving food in my face over the weekend. It's Monday...time to buckle down for a new week. 7 day rolling average is still in the 145's...need to make sure it stays there.
11/14: - 145.0 - Amazing what a low carb, low sodium day with lots of hydration can do to flush away the excess water retention.
11/15: - 142.6 - SAY WHAT!! So apparently a whoosh is possible even when not actively trying to lose more weight! I'm going to assume that I've still been eating at a deficit while trying to figure out my maintenance calories...and my salty boozy weekend masked what I actually lost. I'm less than half a pound away from 40lbs lost since March...more than I intended but I'll own it
11/16: - 141.8 - I'm kind of blown away!! I've had a very anxious and emotional few days which has taken away my appetite so I know my calories have probably been way too low to maintain...but I was not expecting this much of a drop.
11/17: - 143.6 - a jump up from dinner out with fries and some beer last night. We left first thing this morning for a hockey tournament so I won't have a scale to finish out this round or start the next...I'll see you all on day 2 of round 23...

At first I was unsure how I would feel about recording my weight every day. Turns out, I am actually less affected by the fluctuations than I thought I would be. I learned that results of good (and bad) behavior can take several days to see, and focusing on the averages from round to round is very rewarding!

I completed my first round for round 22 and was very happy with my progress. My SW for Round 21 was 121.8 and EW was 119.6. My goal for this round is to get to 118.5. (I'm 5'1, my goal weight is around 115). This would bring me to 30 lbs down from my highest.

11/12 173.4 (bf: 38.8%) We had bbq takeout last night after our hike.I think I did ok food wise, I guess I could call it a maintenance day since I ate a bit too much but nothing crazy. I'm up a lb, but down a percentage point of body fat, so I know it's water. Back on plan today, hoping for a good loss by Wednesday.

Had a day off for the Veteran's Day holiday, it was nice. Went out to eat but stayed in my calories, bought an outfit for a dinner party that's a few week away, size 14s I tried on were too big. (Wound up getting something size "L" so no big victory size story.) Good on water, got some exercise.

OK, so this seems to be my current loop. I was on my feet a lot today for a work event. Not too strenuous, just a lot of standing. A perfectly beautiful day to be outside. Ate at my goal calories, lots of veggies, good on protein. I'll get to my water goal by bedtime.

I expect to be up tomorrow, I went out for a nice dinner that I could tell had a lot of sodium and I'm low on water for the day. I ate dinner out four times in the last week but stayed in my calories each time.

Not too bad, considering last night's dinner. I did almost everything right today, really trying for a bump down tomorrow. I first saw 162 a week ago today and I've pinged it a few times now. Would love to see 161, that'll be 40lbs from my heaviest ever. I usually don't set goals for these 10-day challenges but that's my new goal for this round - a solid 161 and a milestone.

Woot! 40 lbs down from my highest, which was in summer of 2012. Honestly, I was probably up to closer to 210 before I started losing, but I wasn't weighing so that's the highest I ever saw. I lost 30, then gained back and was up to 201 again by the spring of 2015. Going to keep going this time. My next mini goal is 159, which at my height is a "normal" BMI. I don't expect it this round, I'm sure I'll be up and down as usual.

Still happy with this. Fine day on all counts, if I can drink a bit more water before bed. Good on calories, protein, veggies, exercise, no added sugar, I even went to bed on time last night. Just realized I broke my rule and ate after 8pm but still OK. Work thing tomorrow evening, grant me strength to steer clear of the cheese trays.

I HAVE the power and determination to do this.
I have changed my focus for now. I am in the normal range for my age height and build, so I am on maintenance. I'm fitter and healthier than I have been for decades.
New Primary Goal - stay under 160lbs +/- 2lbs.
I was ill most of Round 22, but achieved my goal.
Losing a pound a Round would be ace, as I would like a cushion for celebrations.
to all the Newbies, and Hi to those returning for another Round. This has given me an element of daily accountability which is motivational.
Observations, and Previous RoundsMany events along the way will scupper our best intentions, but they merely delay the achievement of our goals. Life is for living, and one must learn patience. It takes many years to put on excess weight, so It follows that it takes much time to remove, but it does come off, bit by stubborn bit! If you stick with it! The game continues!
A lot of people get upset by apparent weight gain when they have been working their butts off. Body weight fluctuates, both up, and down, from one day to the next depending on so many factors. From my experience:- Changes often take several days to show on the scale.
- A drop is often followed by a bounce up before it settles back down. A general downward trend is the aim.
- A high sodium day usually results in a gain due to water retention, unless you drink extra fluids to flush it out.
If you are making positive lifestyle changes it will lead to increased health and fitness.
Slow and steady leads to sustainable weight loss.
But remember to live a little along the way!

11/9 - 63.9kg (-0.8kg)- The scale is absolutely messing with me. 800g overnight? I wish! I'm not changing my mini-goal until I see this stick for a few days. And when it does - then I will celebrate haha YAY
11/10 - 63.6kg (-0.3kg) - This is not a drill people! The loss is real. I'm still tossing up where to reset my mini-goal to as I am away for a conference at the end of the challenge. Hmmmmm. Getting a big walk in today and sticking to gin and sodas tonight at the pub.
11/11 - 63.9kg (+0.3kg) - Well I didn't get that walk OR stick to gin and sodas at the pub. Oops. Weekend weight gain totally expected. More to come tomorrow.
11/12 - 64.2kg (+0.3kg) - I'm super happy that my usual weekend heavier weight is actually lower than my lowest weight last round! Had friends around to watch multiple games of football yesterday and ate all the food and drank all the beer. Back on the wagon today with a walk and IF.
11/13 - 64.4kg (+0.2kg) - I am starting at a new yoga studio tonight too which I am looking forward to! Also looking forward to losing my weekend water weight haha. Making plans today for managing my intake while I'm away at this conference later in the week.
11/14 - 63.7kg (-0.7kg) - Yaaaaaay! I finally feel like the plan is working for the first time in years. It's tough, like really tough, but I have faith in the science and it's paying off! I really feel like my body is bouncing back from minor weekend indulgences a lot better Today I am focusing on water intake as I have been feeling a bit under the weather. Going to prep some stuff to take away to this conference with me too. BYO crudites haha.
11/15 - 63.3kg (-0.4kg) - Ooo that's a nice follow up from yesterday! It's my lowest weight this round and in the last decade! Also only 100g away from my revised mini-goal. Maybe I'll rethink my Chinatown dinner plans hmmm. Looking forward to getting back to my scale Saturday morning!
11/16 - away from scale - stressed out and dehydrated. Went a bit nuts at the conference lunch. Making up for it tonight with a light dinner. Still hoping to make goal for Saturday.
11/17 - away from scale - Got more water in today and skipped the chocolate mousse at the conference lunch. On the train tonight and am going to stock up on healthy snacks for dinner before getting on board. I am so excited to see if I have made goal tomorrow!
11/18 - 63.7kg - Well, I didn't quite make my revised goal but I've been away, TOM has just arrived and I ate half my partner's kebab at 10pm last night which is still digesting so I am clocking it up as a win hahaha! Average weight was down to 63.73kg over the challenge which is down a whopping 1.4kg from my average weight last round.

Weight loss has been leveling off (-0.5 lb) as I've slacked off on logging food and have got closer to my goal weight. Did make a bit of progress though and my injuries are feeling a lot better. I think I need to get on some kind of strength program more regularly to work on recomp as I get closer to my ultimate goal (still a long way from my overall BF goal). Also going to do better about logging.

11/13 - 153.4 I’m really off the wagon. This has always been the hardest number for me to leave behind or stay under. My body likes it here - but I don’t!

11/15 - 151.6 - amazing what a couple of on track days can do. Makes me wonder if these 2-3 lbs are fat or water/salt/etc. either way, feeling good this am.

11/11 - 151.2 - may have dodged a bullet here. I had some girlfriends sleep over last night and ate pizza. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible stomach cramps and...erm...expelled the pizza. I hadn't had any bread or dairy in months, so maybe i'm allergic to something...like pizza. We'll see if it sticks, I know there may be a rebound effect.
11/12 - 151.2 - I like it.
11/13 - 150.8 - 140's here I come!!
11/14 - 150.4 - holy crap i might actually make my goal this round
11/15 - 150.4 - under calories again, but have only been able to get in a 30 min walk between clients the last two days at work. Trainer coming this morning so maybe that'll kick my metabolism in the bum.
11/16 - 150.0 - sweet...let's see if it'll hold.
11/17 - 150.4 - didn't drink nearly enough water yesterday. Going to finish strong today by staying on track with calories, workout with trainer, and tons of water.

My goal is to reach 10% body fat by year end... actually by 12/30 because that is when my Dexa is scheduled. I'm going to list weight and BF% based on my scale, which is going to fluctuate at times as diet changes. On some days - and I know when those are based on diet - it will be inaccurate.

11/9 - 149.6 lbs. - 16.8% - scale is reading higher than actual BF%
11/10 - 148.4 lbs. - 15.9% - scale is still higher than actual BF%, but getting closer to actual
11/11 - 147.2 lbs. - 16.9% - scale is higher than actual BF%, this time not expected
11/12 - 148.6 - 16.8% - scale is still showing higher than actual BF%, still not entirely expected. I have a theory as to what is driving the incorrectly high BF%.
11/13 - 148.6 lbs. - 18.5% - Yesterday was a re-feed / glycogen replenishment day. I'm surprised weight did not also increase, but expected BF% to be unreliable. I expect it to remain that way for the next 2-3 days.
11/14 - 147.2 lbs. - 16.4% - Depending on whether I eat a lot of fibrous green vegetables today, BF% will either stay pretty stable by tomorrow morning or will decrease. I may find it hard to feel full without lettuce or green beans... but since scale BF% is just artificially high if I eat them and real BF% is not truly much different, I'm probably going to eat greens if I'm hungry anyway.
11/15 - 146.4 - 15.6% - No veg yesterday, scale is closer to a correct BF%.
11/16 - 146.2 lbs. - 14.9% - No veg yesterday again, and BF% is almost right where I would expect Dexa to come up. The idea that eating low carb green / fibrous veggies would affect the scale BF% so much is a relatively new revelation. Thinking back, the last Dexa was 0.3% lower than the scale on that same day (that is extremely close); and my scale is ALWAYS higher than any other measurement method or device - including other bio-electric impedance devices, which are always super low. When that last Dexa was taken and it was almost the same as the scale, I had not eaten plants for 45 days prior (except coffee, tea, and small quantities of seasonings and sauces). I still plan to eat some low carb (net carb) fibrous veggies while I continue to strive for 10% BF by 12/30, but will do take breaks occasionally to get a better idea of where Dexa will come in.
11/17 - 147.8 lbs. - 13.9% - Slight weight increase, not sure why... probably water weight. Another day without veg and BF% is spot on as close as I'm going to get to being real. Tomorrow is going to be high again based on today's planned diet.
11/18- 146.0 lbs. - 15.4% - Did not expect weight to decrease, but expected reported BF% to rise.

08/11 - 195.8 - nursing sore muscles today - which could be the reason for my raise in weight this morning, hopefully it will drop off again this round! went to bed early tonight (about 8pm ) my pain meds for my back are making me sleepy so I decided to just sleep instead of fighting it .. due to that ---cals in - 1128 & exercise was - 39 mins of strength and 6 mins flex.
09/11 - 194.8 - yay! Happy I seem to be settling around these lower numbers (beats the 197 I was stuck at for 5 rounds)cals in 1651 - Exercise 10 min strength 10 min flex, 50 min walk, 70 min various cardio.
10/11 - 195.2 - still have sore thighs but they are easing off now, I'm hoping the scales will reflect this in the next few dayscals in 1614 - Exercise 48 min strength 20 min flex, 50 min walk
11/11 - 195.2 - High cal day today, but tomorrow will bring me back to my weekly average.cals in 2099 - Exercise 180 min walk, xmas shopping
12/11 - 195.2 - My calories from Mon to sunday are perfectly on target .. falling at an avg of 1651 /daycals in 1770 - Exercise 60 min walk

14/11 - 194.8 - I am taking anti-inflammatory pills at the moment which is giving me "some" relief from my back pain which is allowing me to exercise with a bit more energy - although a lot of my movement is still VERY limitedcals in 1734 - Exercise 15 mins walk, 75 mins strength 12 min flex
15/11 - 194.8 - back and leg were giving me issues from my workout yesterday so I went for some stretching insteadcals in 1593 - Exercise 25 mins strength 30 min walk 58 mins flex

17/11 - 194.8 - Good news!!! after about a month my hair has stopped falling out, so I am now hoping for new growth, bring on the new growth, so even thou my weight isn't moving very quickly I am happy that my hair is staying Hopefully I am eating low enough for a very small loss in weight not hair!! ... Changes I made 1 I am eating more .. 2 less alcohol .. 3 I cut my hair shorter .. 4 Ive upped my protein 5 I am taking a supplementcals in 1842 - Exercise 55 min walk 12 mins flex
18/11 - 194.2 - I stood on the scales they showed me the 194.8 number so I stood on them again with 4 x 1.5 L bottles of water, because I noticed a few people on here recommended others to do that if your scales weren't changing. (and I saw that 2 in front of my number again *shudders* ... then stood on them again without the water and noticed a drop ... is it real??? .. its still not my current lowest of 193 .. but its heading in the right direction
