I started wearing my size 10 jeans in the beginning n of December. I did not have any smaller ones to use as a mini goal so when we went to Costco and I saw the same style for 12.99 I picked up a size 8 pair. (Not the best style on me, but far from the worst style.).
Was pretty surprised when I tried them on before washing that they fit. Tight, yes, but not even embarrassingly tight, and since they have a bit of stretch they are not even uncomfortable. I have lost no weight in December (really since Thanksgiving), so I’m a tad surprised.
I was wearing these style jeans and pants in March-September (in size 14) October - Nov (size 12) and December I went with the size 10’s. I could wear the 8’s now if I wanted to!
Oooh one digit sizes!!! Congrats to you!!!!! I remember being an 8 in Japan, ( pre kids), and I thought I was huge. That society was strange because there were so many smaller size people. At 5'5" I still was a half a head taller! My girlfriend and I would go to the Japanese Dept stores. She was kind of a large lady, so we would wander the lingerie area. We'd ask if they had our sizes, then watch the sales ladies bow and shyly state "no have"! It was mean, I know, but in some ways it made us feel better! We already were being objectified any time we rode the trains, all Japanese men looking at us, like we had no heads whatsoever!
OK I went off topic, but I'm proud of you in your journey!!!

News Am going to mull it all over. I appreciate everyone's input. More on this later after I have processed your various opinions & choices.
Alfie made my heart leap! What a cutie pie!
I got a funny text from one of my cousins. I texted him & asked him if he was in Indiana (at Dick's memorial service) and he said "no - my day job is really starting to interfere with my life" LOL! He is a pharmacist, one of the few independent pharmacists left in the country, and has a tremendous amount of responsibility. I had been thinking the same thing - that my day job was interfering with my life - so his text cheered me - misery loves company!
Love,

Oh Joyce, I'm so sorry that you had such a time at your cantata! I hope you are feeling better soon.
Becca, is that nuke son? he looks so young! (not something that he really wants to hear, I'm sure!! lol)
Rye, so happy for you! I suspect size 8 is just a dream for me..... But we'll see!
Allie, sorry to hear that you're not feeling good either! Hope you feel better soon also!
Machka, I so envy you with the cherries! When we first bought our old house, there was a cherry tree in the backyard. I remember going into the grocery store and looking at the price (and quality) of the cherries there and feeling awfully smug about my beautiful tree in the backyard. Then it suffered grievious bodily harm and had to come down. It was a very sad day....
Sharon, hoping that people at work (customers and staff) are getting some of the "goodwill towards men" spirit in them
Terrible time of year to be feeling unwell, sending healing thoughts out to all who need them!
Have decided to not stress out about what I'm doing (or eating) til the end of the month, well, beginning of Jan. I will still try and keep some sort of a rein on what goes in my mouth, but I'm not going to drive myself nuts! (well, not past the level of nuts I've already reached! lol)
Hope everyone has a great day!

Joyce, you take care of yourself, so sorry you had such a dreadful time of it.0 -
Congratulations to those who have lost weight, dropped a size, or reached a personal goal of exercising etc. Doubly hard at this time of year.
I have had two AF days in a row. Kept to my calorie goal too. Plus I am typing every day.
Joyce - Sorry to hear about your nether troubles. I shall never hear the word cantata the same way again!
I will make my roulade tomorrow afternoon. DH will help. Plus get my cards up, plus change a difficult to access light bulb in the kitchen. My aches are a bit better since I had a nap on the sofa. My sleeping has been terrible lately. Long hours awake.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx2 -

My post went away......our party was a high success, they came at 6 and left at 11 pm. Usually everyone goes home at 9:30. Took me until 12:30to get everything cleaned up. My DH was so pleased. The food we had was almost all eaten so that was good.
Allie- your puppy is so cute.
Still have shopping to do but have all next week to work on that.
Read the posts and am so happy for all who are losing weight. I am trying to maintain through the holidays.

Joyce, sorry to hear about your difficulties. Sounds like you handled it with grace and dignity.
Rye, congrats on the size 8. All your hard work is paying off. Well done.
Sue, so glad your party was a success.
My eating was atrocious today. Made the peanut brittle today so everything is now all ready for Christmas. I so want to get back on track eating wise. I feel so out of control and scared. Cast comes off tomorrow so going to try harder to get back to eating better.

Terry, recently i found someone who said this about their weight loss: Never two days in a row.
It has helped me, I have a bad day (last weekend it was a party where there was a bowl of Chex mix! I can’t resist that!) and I acknowledge it but the next day I keep saying to myself Never two days in a row. What could have turned into a bad spiral was nipped in the bud, because all I had to do was commit to one day. The day after, well I could address it after I got through my Never two days.
Maybe this would help you? I hate to hear you so scared and down on yourself.5 -

Glad to hear the cast is coming off. There is a quote I've seen in this group that goes something like "strategy is stronger than willpower". One of my strategies is to have 'clean' snacks front and center in my fridge and pantry: peeled hard boiled eggs, washed and trimmed celery, unsalted nuts pre-bagged in small portions and fresh sparkling water from my soda stream are some staples. We're right there with you, Terry.
Take care friends.

Lanette - yes! I took the job! I started last Monday. DH got a job as a lunch lady! Just a fun keep him busy job! He starts collecting SS this month so his earnings are restricted. We also have the same schedule but different districts.
I thought you all would appreciate this picture of Victoria and Haylee! We visited them this weekend in San Diego!

Joyce ... so sorry you became ill at your cantata ... I know how much singing in church means to you ... hope you're feeling well soon.
I have been trying to keep up with reading, but have not had time to respond until tonight. I've enjoyed all the photos! I am so sorry so many have been sick or experienced loss at this time of the year.
It's been a hectic couple of months. On Oct 24th, my husband had another back surgery (laminate fusion). Then in mid November, my OS failed his medical clearance for surgery ... found he was in acute renal failure and had been for weeks, but no one flagged his labs?! We (and I do mean I stayed with him as well) spent 3 nights in the hospital ... no way can you leave a physically disabled person alone in the hospital. Then here at the beginning of December OS's surgery to replace medicinal pump and catheter was finally rescheduled. OS has been home recuperating and frankly, between he and his father, I'm worn out.
ALL of my Christmas shopping has been done online this year. I usually send cards, but haven't even opened up the boxes yet. We are decorated, but only put up one tree instead of our usual two because it was just too much and I only have so much energy. I'll bake a few cookies that absolutely scream Christmas to my family, but don't plan to go overboard.
We have over 2-1/2 feet of snow in the yard! If you watch football, you probably saw the Buffalo Bills play in lake effect snow last weekend. I live in the same area. It really hasn't stopped snowing since. Nuisance snow I call it ... an inch or so every evening. A friend helped with the really heavy stuff, but I still needed to get out there and take care of the areas his big machine couldn't get near.
My YS flew home Thursday from school ... it is good to have him home. I miss his face, but not his appetite ... my grocery bill has already taken a hit and he's only been home 3 days!
I am staying steady, despite really atrocious eating habits. I'm hoping to stay even through the holidays and then put my nose to the grindstone in January.

Mary congrats to you and your hubby on your new jobs.
Beth, extra hugs to you and your family.1 -
Mary I laughed so much when I saw the twins Santa photo. Keep it somewhere safe for their 21st!
Here are a couple more Santa hat photos. I took one of Mani after our ride on the beach yesterday. And I took the one of Duchess just a few minutes ago on the couch. She actually purred. She liked that hat, LOL.

This relates back to the motivational words some of you are adopting for the new year.
Brief back story ...
I was an avid ultra-long distance cyclist who kind of faded from the scene after DVT, a stolen bicycle, and life in general. In 2015, I lost my weight so that I could get back into long distance cycling again, so in 2016 ... I did get back into long distance cycling again.
Just before my first 300 km randonnee back into it again (300 km with a time limit of 20 hours including all breaks), I was petrified. I hadn't done a 300 km in several years, and here we were up in Queensland (other side of Australia), signed up for this event. I didn't know how it would go.
But the morning of the event, I quickly logged into Facebook before heading out the door, and saw this ... posted by a friend who posts motivational sayings. Half the time I don't really pay much attention, but this one caught my eye, and I thought, "Right ... that's it. I'm petrified, but I'm doing it."
And we did!! My husband and I finished it together, and we rode about 2/3 of the event with someone who has become a helpful friend with various audax/randonneuring-related things.
I don't go in much for motivational sayings, but I do have a few that do motivate.

Yep that is the Nuke son! Yep, he looks young because he is young (19). But if he keeps at it, as a lifer he will retire at 38 yrs old! Husband was retired at 37, and started career #2, nice that he could start another career at ground level. Having the retirement pay coming in was nice.
Its like he's never left, "Time to do yer homework son"! Haha!
Made Hello Dollies, and some fudge today!

It has been a few months since I have been on your group page. I quit MFP for awhile, but I missed the support and camaraderie. I am hoping to be a part of your group.
