BTW - a bit of an amusing thing. The pastor at the church I went to on Christmas Eve guessed I was Irish based on my accent.
When people guess where I'm from based on my accent, Irish is the top guess with Canadian coming in second.
Evidently, Canadian mixed with Australia = Irish!!
I've been told I have quite a strong lilt ... I can't hear it at all, but who knows.
So, if you're reading my words here, imagine them with an Irish lilt ... and a bit of Canadian and Australian thrown in, and that's probably about right.

Cookie baking yesterday- gingerbread cookies ( including a couple of gingerbread men) and sugar cookies.
Also made key lime curd (same as lemon curd but substituted key limes in place of lemons) to put as topping on husband’s instant pot cheesecake. This may be the most delicious thing I’ve ever made in the kitchen!
Fudge and brownies today. Oh my, house is reminding me of mom’s at Christmas. Such happy smells!
Last minute shopping (groceries) is done and the wrapping is 95% finished. Time to set up the leaves in table, bring out the spare table and tablecloths. I have a tip: thumb tack the tablecloths to the bottom of the table. That way cats and children can not cause a pulling the tablecloth off the table disaster!
Just got word from BiL that he is too sick to come. His daughters are still planning to come tho, thank heavens. (They live with their Mother so won’t be spreading his sickness.). I’m gonna go find out if he feels up to facetime with us - so that we can set up some tech in the living room...
Happy Christmas Eve to all and your loved ones!

Throwback Christmas pic. I am the 7 year old sitting holding a doll. My oldest sister is not in the pic and my baby sister hadn’t been born yet. Big families make for fun Christmas mornings!7

NYKAREN - Fabulous photo! You look very pleased with your day so far!
Thanks for posting!

All of y'all making last minute dashes out to the shops this morning? (shudder) tho' the crowds here are tiny compared with Boise. . .
Machka, that hair! Hubba hubba Irish for the hair, but when I hear Canadian in my head it's more burr than brogue.
Heather to have had even one friend who truly "gets" you is such a gift, but to have two, YOU know how you are!
NYKaren clearing the decks makes you feel powerful and going to the gym makes you happy? Excellent self care! Alas I am just the opposite, cleaning is drudgery and haven't yet achieved the exercise=endorphin equation. I DO like to hand wash dishes, tho', find it meditative ;} Sure your family will understand about not traveling on icy snow, they'd rather you be safe than struggling to be with them. Love the pic!
Allie So VERY happy for you about Alfie. He is one lucky little pooch and you deserve every happiness. Merry Christmas.
Rye Key lime curd? Is it hard to make? When I asked the guy who introduced me to lemon curd what he liked it on best, he replied "spoons"
Lisa keep searching for the right place. It took us many trips over the past two years and through some disappointments (amidst negotiations seller took house off market), but this plase "smelled Right" from the beginning. Remember the further north you go... the colder the weather... Knowing you are in the right place doing the right thing. Brava!
Gotta dash and prep for church. Will drive 30 mins north to the Lutheran church I like best for Sunday service. Tonight will drive 20 mins south to the Episcopal church for "midnight" (7pm) mass. Living out in the boonies makes for quite a commute!
Warmest and best to all of you. YOU are the warmest and best!

I am making Almond Joy Cookies, a recipe I found on Pinterest. I'm afraid they will not come out right because I only had one package of coconut instead of two. They may be runny.
Then Meyer Lemon Bars and Brownies.
Will take it all to my son's house tomorrow!

Barbara curd is finicky to make but not hard. I used Chef John food wishes recipe/method this time. I just used key limes instead of lemons. The difficulty is FINDING key limes in the first place ( I have a source, lol) then juicing close to 50 of the tiny suckers to get enough fresh lime juice in the second place.
But yummmm, once or twice a year? Totally worth it!3 -
Confirmation ~ I cannot bake worth a darn! The "cookies" ran all over the pan. I scraped it all out into a bowl and added graham cracker crumbs and threw back into the oven. I think it will be a chewy, gooey, delicious mess!5

Loving all the pictures.
Michele sorry for all the drama. I think Christmas is like wedding and funerals. It brings out the best and worst in people.
Singing from 1-4 this afternoon. Did the annual going to Como Conservatory to see the poinsettias yesterday.
Just want us all to be healthy and well this Christmas. Did sleep 7 and three quarter hours last night with no getting up. Progress!

HAHA, I have people guessing my accent as well and apparently American crossed with Kiwi sounds Canadian. That is ALWAYS what people guess!
Hey everybody, it's already Christmas morning here in NZ! Just heading out to feed all the hungry furr family before the human family arrives. Our latest refugee is a hedgehog with a sore leg that my husband found by the hedge yesterday. It will get an egg for Christmas breakfast. Merry Christmas and hope you all get a good book to read. (That's what I want!)

Happy Christmas Eve ladies!
Made blueberry pancakes for breakfast today. DD has been spending the last few days with her boyfriend and his two boys. Unfortunately he is too scared to commit in any way. She excepts it for what it is. He treats her well and I’m happy about that. She is coming back home today sometime.
DH is making potato soup which I love. Smells so good.
I’m just lying around watching tv. Mostly holiday movies. Just relaxing and being thankful for my family and friends.
Glad I can spend time with all of you. I do treasure all of you and wish you a safe and happy Christmas Eve!!!

Did Leslie Sansone's Burn Body Fat DVD. The PLAN for tomorrow is to do Tone Trouble Zones DVD (a part), hold my plank, then do an Elle Glam Total Toning DVD
Heather - so glad your friend is home. Cute shirt! You look amazing!
We'll be leaving in a few to pick Jess up from the airport (she's coming back from TN).
Merry Christmas to everyone who is celebrating!
Barbara - every year they send some barbecue from Corky's to us. Just glad that this year I could send them some pierogi. I've always been concerned about the refirgeration for the cheese, but with this heavy-duty styrofoam container and the freeze things, I think it just might make it.
One thing about Windows 10. The last time we were down at the condo, suddenly Vince got a text saying that we were almost at the limit for our data usage. Neither of us did anything different than what we did before. Seems that what happens is when Windows 10 does its automatic updates, that used up our usage. So we had to buy more time since we needed to pay bills. But you can get around that by telling you laptop not to update if it is using a hotspot.
Lisa - I'm so sorry you feel that North Carolina isn't for you. But you are right, you should have what is good for you. It's good that you're staying with your daughter, she'll need you especially now.
Went to Krispy Kreme to get donuts for tomorrow. I surprised myself. Last year I got 3 cream-filled-types, this year I only got 2 of the glazed, and one would have done it for me. Maybe next year I won't want any. I hope, I hope
Picked Jess up. She asked if she could use my laptop as she has a phone interview with a vet school in the Caribbean. Down there the vet school is much cheaper. And, really, when you go to a vet you don't see their diploma (unlike at the MD's), so you really don't know where they went to school. Oh, she could take out student loans and go to school in the states. But then she'd be paying them back for years and years. She'll probably have to take out some loans for this school, but not as many. I do hope she continues her interest in being a vet. She's talked about it a lot but this is the first I've seen her really trying to get in. Oh, she's gotten brochures of other schools, but she hasn't done anything to try to get in.
After Krispy Kreme I did buy gas. I didn't realize how low I was. We took my car to drop Jess off at the airport and today to pick her up. We need to go into Hickory tonight for midnight mass. I don't think Jess is going to go with us. She's going to pick Colby up at the airport. Well, I know that she isn't blowing us off for some reason.
NYKaren - if you go to Philly, safe travels
Jess is out Christmas shopping right now. Honestly! Bet when Denise gets here she'll have to wrap. You would think they'd think of these things and just get them done. Set the table for tonight. We are so going to use these certain placemats. They must have taken me at least 12 years to make. I have so much trouble making something in the round (crochet)
Margaret - Jess was saying (I don't know how true this is) that at Denise's bridal shower Maria was saying how Vince called and forbid Denise from seeing Pete, but look how they're in love. Right. We never even knew her phone number. But like I said, I don't know how true that is.
