yep but not as a staple of your fitness
My fitness looks about like this. I think I'm fine.
looks do not equate to fitness - many bodybuilders out there who are far from fit
I find it somewhat hilarious that you keep referring to diet (specifically the types of foods) and fitness. Fitness has jack to do with what, exactly, you eat. Rather, it's how much you eat and your physical capabilities.10 -

May I have your calories? You are clearly wasting them.12 -
Look at the populations in Asia! They don’t have to go on starvation diets! It’s because of what they have been eating all their lives! And not eating! Lots of rice and vegetable and fruit! And what their not eating is lots of meat and dairy! Having to loose so much weight means that you knowingly new you were going to gain weight by eating to much and did it anyway! I don’t believe that!! You just didn’t know better because in this country we eat a bad diet!! We should eat like the poor people of china! Not like the poor people of the USA! The poor here eat fatty fast food because their to busy working 2 jobs to pay the rent! Or are in food deserts it’s not your fault that you gained so much weight! You got bad advise from people only looking out for big corporations like McDonald’s saying it’s okay to eat bad food as long as you eat it in moderation!! The department of agriculture isn’t looking out for you !! Their looking out for McDonald’s! Or they would tell you that tge food their selling you is not healthy at all!! Not even in moderation!!
Who said anything about starvation diets?0 -

Posting does not equate to having a point - many posters out there who fail to follow the Socratic method.22 -

Well, it is definitely better than before. (Before pic.) I hold a state record in deadlift now, can knock out pull-ups, etc.
You're throwing a lot of shade. What are your qualifications?
agreed and excellent for you - I just know many people who look fit but are NOT fit - yeah they could grace the cover a a magazine but can't run a mile in under 12 minutes - people who can lift a truck but can barely get up a flight of stairs - people who look great and run forever but their blood work is *kitten* because of their diet - so yeah looks do not necessarily equate to fitness
I call BS. Again, what are your qualifications?
ETA: Look what I found on someone's profile page. Care to make your food diary public, @Irishman1970?!?

LMAO - did you just say fitness has nothing to do with what you eat?
You may want to reread what I posted. But, basically, by the actual definition of fitness.6 -

Probably happier than if you had eaten plain grilled chicken breasts and an egg white omelette. Sounds like pure sadness.
Its more sad you equate food with happiness
It's sad that you are criticizing a stranger for doing what works for them. Who are you or anyone to judge someone else.
It sucks to watch someone try so hard to run up hill with a 50 pound rock dragging behind them when all they need to do and cut the rope and they will be much more successful
Actually, thanks to having SHED a 100-lb rock, I can run up that hill where as before, I was wheezing and struggling. And I shed that rock with a predominantly healthy diet that incorporated some treats, some processed foods, a lot of fruits, veggies, grains, etc... But the only real restriction I imposed was keeping my home-baked desserts to 200 calories/portion or fewer.15 -

Irish70 seems to be playing both sides of the discussion now.
There are plenty of people who are fit and don't look it, and plenty of people who look fit and aren't.
Rippetoe, Big Z, etc
Pick a bodybuilder4 -

so your primary source of food was what most would say healthy food - with occasional treat - yep that is fitness NOT a diet - something you can stick to and something you won't go off of
This is from your profile, right?!? Care to make your food diary public?

If we define occasional as 4-6 times/week... sure.12

I'm getting lost now. Eating healthy is fitness/retention? And eating "junk" is dieting?10 -

Irishman1970 wrote: »But who wants to eat four chicken breasts? Ugh. Why can't I have a chicken breast with a salad on Monday and cheeseburger on Tuesday?
If your calories are on point, you don't need to eat like some clean-eating saint every day. You can make yummy stuff fit.
1 burger (1 burger) is 50% of your calories for the day and its *kitten* food - then you are are wondering why you have cravings? and you start to binge at 9pm
THAT is why diets don;t work
I have a bacon cheeseburger yesterday, and still stayed within my calories, with no cravings or bingeing. You are not making any sense.9 -

Ok, so basically, if I eat 5000 calories of your 'healthy' foods every day (and gain a ton of weight in the process), then I will be more fit than the person who eats junk and loses all of the extra weight?15 -
