Welcome Pam in transit from FL to SC , Katie Kikkiwan, Claudine GA, Pauline, Vix576.
Thunder, lightning, hail, wind and rain cancelled dog group today. Please, all of you suffering horrific weather (Beth, Heather, NYKaren et al) please be safe!
Feeling a bit low, spent most of today watching TV with Joe, no real activity. Here I am, 3 days into March and haven't meditated, SWSY or walked Tumble once. On the good side, AF, Line Dance and Tai Chi once each, logged and supplemented every day.
So signing off to meditate and SWSY before shower and bed. I CAN do this and it will make me feel better
hugs to all,
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.

Hello all!
I had a great day! It was beautiful outside; blue skies and about 67f. DH went hiking, so I did a little housework, scrapbooking and looked for an interesting spot to stay st Eureka Springs (AR) for our anniversary in July.
I saw a fun place that has treehouses and “hobbit caves”.
I just realized how hard it is to stay away from salt. When I was in the hospital Sunday and Monday, I lost 3 pounds because I had no salt. Something to work on. I gained that right back!
Joyce Happy Birthday! I hope you had a great day!!
Pstegman love the chickens!! I had Rhode Island Reds for a while. 12 hens gave me a dozen eggs every day. It was awesome! Now I’m lucky to eat 2-3 eggs a week.
Have a super Sunday! Planning on church in the morning. Looking forward to seeing my church family.

Me today... no makeup! Yikes!

Michele- yes! I did understand where the tree was located. That sounds like a fantastic family time. Great experience

Wendy The Good Place is my favourite TV show ever. Enjoy!
Did my hula hoop yesterday. Only 16 minutes but my self challenge requires only 15 minutes so I can check off another successful day at that.
Tomorrow I start my second round of the five day FMD (Fast Mimicking Diet) for 2018. I’m planning on doing this 5 or 6 rounds this year.
Got a wonderful compliment yesterday. A gal at work said ‘well, you have fantastic posture’. I can tell you I never ever heard that in my whole life - just the opposite in fact. I’ve got to give the credit to the weight training (strong women stay young program modified).

Michele, yes I have chosen to cut out chocolate because it is my personal demon that I have to fight every day. If I give in a little, I give in a lot. Usually the cravings are too strong and I have to have it. I will even do a round trip forty minute drive into town to get some and I have done that a lot! I feel I have earned it, every time I do any exercise and it negates any gains I might have made. It bumps up my blood sugar and causes me to burn high, then fall flat over and over. I am finding I have a much more steady energy supply following Ernie's meal plans. She eats a small meal and eats often, which suits me, but a lot of her food is protein, egg whites and tuna bulked up with spinach or broccoli. A cup of oatmeal a day. A cup of brown rice a day. A sweet potato a day. A couple of walnuts. A couple tablespoons of pineapple. This way of eating is keeping my blood sugar stable and I am able to control my eating because I am not getting the overwhelming cravings.
Rye, I am just heading upstairs to get on the bike and watch some more Good Place. It's got humour and philosophy and twists and naughtiness. I love it. I am very impressed that you can do 15 minutes of hula hoop. I am going to try to do five minutes to start with. Mostly picking it up off the floor. LOL Wendy6 -

I was eating chocolate after work every day for several years, but when I started with MFP, I decided to stop eating chocolate after work. I still wanted something, so now I eat cottage cheese with raw veggies which contains lower calories and has more "staying power". By way of explanation, we come home after work, have a light snack, then exercise (walk or cycle usually) and then have dinner.
Interestingly, within about a week, I stopped craving chocolate, and now I only have it on occasion.wildhorsewendy wrote: »I am finding I have a much more steady energy supply following Ernie's meal plans. Did 45 minutes of the Fit in 10 DVD. I didn't realize that it was as long as it was or that there are two workouts. But that's OK. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Beach Pilates Based Abs Bun and Thigh DVD
Wendy - NO CHOCOLATE!!! Are you feeling OK????
Joyce - happy birthday
Katla - sorry your son can't make it. Hopefully, he will be able to at another time
Kylia - a meeting sounds good to me. Just let me know when. Have you ever been to the Biltmore?
Rori - Mars is beautiful. Rest up and then exercise more
Pauline - welcome!
Terry - hope Collette is fine. Don't you wish cats/dogs could be on our insurance???
Made chicken to have later in the week, registered for the cake decorating class, made the icing for the class (I'm not going to buy it -- too expensive and it really doesn't taste all that good so I'd be embarassed to give it to anyone), next have to make the cake to take with me. I THINK we had a mouse downstairs. At first Vince wouldn't believe me, he had every excuse in the book. Finally, we found some droppings so he put down one of those sticky traps yesterday. This morning Loki, Bonnie and Clyde were downstairs. Loki kept looking at the storage room door (where we put the trap). I'm going to hope that his hearing is real good, but there was no way I was going to find out. So I'm waiting (and waiting) for Vince to go downstairs to look because I need the cake mix. First he's walking around the house "ommm, ommm, I feel horrible", then he has to have lunch, now he has to go to the bathroom. Update: there wasn't anything down there
Saw online that Pete's mother DOES live in a 55+ community. I wonder how the neighbors are going to feel if there are younger people living there? Also, what about parking? How is it going to be when suddenly there are 2 more vehicles. Well...not my problem.
Margaret - lovely paintings!
Vix - welcome. Tell us more about yourself.

Well, let’s see now. My name is Vicki. I have been living in Italy for 14 years, but British originally. 54 years old, single, 25 year old son who has moved back home after the break up of his long term relationship and I live with my mother. She is great for 78, no health issues of any sort. Living with the 2 of them can be fraught at times - very big generation gap - and they clash a little.
I’m an ESL teacher and a Cambridge examiner, which I live doing.
I’ve battled with my weight since I was a teenager with a weight range of anything from 62kgs to 122.5kgs, which was my heaviest up to 3 weeks ago. I’ve tried ww , sw and a whole load of other diet plans, but have to say since I have been using mfp I’ve managed to lose weight in a way that I haven’t before. I’ve always found the others tell me I need to eat more, so lose weight very slowly, I know it’s the way it’s supposed to be done, but it’s very soul destroying to lose .5kg a week, when you have over 50kgs to loose.
In 3 weeks I’ve managed to lose 4.5kgs, lose 4cm from my neck and 3.2 from my waist - my hips on the other hand have gone on strike and take a cm from the rest of my body13 -
wildhorsewendy wrote: »Machka, sounds like you tried to make good choices at the bakery. I love carrot cake but yep, it is fattening! I am very interested in the educational offer of upgrading your BA that Australia offers. Is it mostly distance extramural classes?
Wendy
Unfortunately, so far, none of it has been distance education. I'm in an IT program ... you'd think they'd be able to teach us online, but nope. It's all at the university.
However, other universities have distance programs and I keep thinking that maybe one day I'll transfer into one of them.
I'll send you some links when I get back from today's bicycle ride.
M in Oz
For example ... this is an online graduate certificate from the University of South Queensland. If a postgraduate program has a Graduate Certificate option, chances are the entry requirements will be any Bachelor's degree, not specifically a Bachelor's degree in the area.
So, this one says:
Entry Requirements
Completion of an Australian university Bachelor degree in any area, or equivalent.
or
A minimum of five years’ professional work experience, or equivalent."
... and it goes into a bit more detail than that.
https://www.usq.edu.au/study/degrees/graduate-certificate-of-business/project-management#entry-requirements
Then if you look at the corresponding Master's degree, it says:
Entry Requirements
Australian university Bachelor degree in the area of business, or equivalent
plus
a minimum of two years’ professional work experience, or equivalent.
Note: USQ’s Graduate Certificate of Business provides a pathway into the Master of Business Administration for students who meet the work experience requirements but do not hold a Graduate Certificate at AQF level 8 or equivalent.
https://www.usq.edu.au/study/degrees/master-of-business-administration/project-management#entry-requirements
So if you have a Bachelor's degree of some sort, then you could get the Grad Certificate ... and then you'd move into the Master's program.
This is just one example from one university. I've checked out about a dozen of them, and they've all got this option in at least a portion of their postgraduate programs. Some are online courses and some aren't.
You might check the universities in NZ to see what they've got. It's possible they have a similar setup.

Started post but ipad logged me out, I need one with more memory. Will do a clear out get rid of some of the stuff on here. I like to download something to watch on the plane even tho it's not a long flight to Spain.
Today we have rain not snow thank goodness but they are forecasting flooding in some parts of the country as thaw sets in. We are lucky here in Liverpool as we are protected by Pennines on one side and the river on the other so don't get extremes of weather.
As you know it's date day with DH today so will go do my KB and cardio workout then brunch then get ready, the weather doesn't normally stop us as DH says it doesn't rain in the bars LOL
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday

Why not just watch the movies, TV shows, documentaries etc. on the plane? They've got a decent selection these days.

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! As usual, yesterday was a busy day just getting the normal household/daycare duties taken care of. Today is my fasting day; but I offered to go visit my inlaws and make them some lunch. I am making what I call Thanksgiving sliders. It is ground turkey and stuffing in pattie form with cranberry sauce condiment on a roll. Sweet potato fries and a salad on the side. I kind of had a "oh crap!" moment when I realized that I was messing with my fasting day. But it is a "meaningful fast" to keep in mind those who go without food; I am sure that "meaningful" can mean keeping in mind those who are shut in and lonely and don't cook much.
Joyce- I can't remember if I wished you happy birthday! Happy Birthday!
Beth- Holy cow that is a lot of snow! We were supposed to get a bit, but didn't. Thank God! I love snow and love to shovel; but I think I am done with that for the year. Ready for some warm weather.
Katiebug- An egg roll in a bowl sounds yummy to me! lol I have had that happen before, though, where something that sounds so good, doesn't smell good while it is cooking and falls short of how wonderful my brain and taste buds think it should taste! Like Janet, I think shrimp would be delish!
Well, my brain is in a fog and can't think of who I wanted to reply to. I woke up this morning with a lot in my head. You ever have one of those nights or times when that little box that you keep in a dark corner of your brain, for some unknown reason spills open? Stuff you don't want to think about? So...you put it all back in the box, mentally tape that sucker shut and slide it back into the corner where it belongs. Yep. I think I need to sign off now, and do some paperwork or busy work to fill the empty spaces in my brain, so that there is no room for "old boxes".

I've just finished typing out my memoir. Now I need DH or someone to read it and copy edit and give suggestions.
Still intros and postscript etc to do, but the bulk is done.
We have a HUGE pile if legal forms to fill in for the house move. Of course our buying situation is not definite. The vendors haven't found anywhere to buy yet. Could be ages. We will make a start on the selling pile today after my run. Just for half an hour before DH goes upstairs to watch rugby. (We have a rule that the main tv is for things we BOTH want to watch) If we take it in chunks it won't be overwhelming.
I'm really excited about being able to get back to running today. Hope I still know how!
I think I've lost a few more oz. Today will be my 4th AF day in a row. I don't think I've done that for years. 3 at the most. I'm feeling very good about it. My book Alcohol Explained by William Porter is very good at explaining what happens to the brain and body when you drink and how alcohol dependency can creep up on you.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx8 -
kelly love your imagery of "the little box in the dark corner of your brain". Glad you can tape it shut and get some rest
The bad weather is behind us for now, didn't get snow just like Beth, just alot of trees down, the coastal areas got flooded of course. I can't wait for spring anymore! I need a regular routine of work days and some sunshine, it will be very welcome
Well I'm off to exercise and prep for my concert today. My dear friend who is a retired nurse and now a part time violin teacher is coming to the concert this afternoon. She is an inspiration to me and a very smart lady--I am happy she will be there.

Finally had the chance to watch Oddball this evening. We bought the movie just before Christmas. It was all right. Probably the best part was that we've spent some time in the area where it was filmed.

Morning, afternoon and evening all - welcome, Vix in Italy - please let us know what you'd like us to call you, it really helps us keep our conversations oriented to the right people! Welcome to all our new chums, we're always pleased to have more folks to support and encourage.
Finally finished a database cleanup yesterday that had taken me four MONTHS to complete. But ended up deleting more than 3,000 accounts on a cloud database that will raise our subscription price if we go over 5,000, so well worth doing. Unfortunately, the way they have it set up, in order to delete an account, you have to delete every donation individually for each person. Which was fine for the 1,700+ who had never given, but tough for the rest. Hard, sloggy work, but much like cleaning house, you can look at your results with pride in a job well done. Now it's time to analyze the past donations (all downloaded pre-deletion) to see what we need to up our game in the years to come.
Data analysis is actually fun for me--but we're also moving into spring grant season, and I've got about four majors looming, and another three major reports at the moment. Honestly, it never stops - possibly why I remain completely engaged in my job. Unusual for me at a year on a job. I've usually cleaned up my predecessor's mess and am get a little bored and start looking around by the one-year mark. I may have finally found my niche! Only took me 57 years... So I'm slow!
The knees have been given me such fits of late that I decided to stop running for a bit and use the underdesk elliptical exclusively. Running puts me out of any kind of weight-bearing exercise for two days afterward, so much as I love it, until I can get them fixed, I may have to give it up. However, during the four days in a row that I've been using the elliptical, I'm losing weight every day, small amounts, but four days in a row. Something that's happened very seldom since the beginning of this program. As you can see by the graph, only a tenth of a pound this morning, but nonetheless, a tenth of a pound in the right direction!
Anyway... got things I need to get done this morning, and Corey's already downstairs with the grands. Love that man... his patience and humor with them has made this all work in ways neither one of us could have imagined. Will be glad when we're on to our next adventure, but so very, very glad we came here to be with them while they needed us.

Welcome Pauline and Vik in Europe, nice to have views from other parts of the world. We do get occasional posters from UK but they don't seem to stay, could be lots of reasons of course and the ladies are so chatty here that sometimes it's hard to keep up but that's what I find so great.

Hey. My name is vicki. Keep up the good work your doing both with weight loss and work.3 -

I went on my run this pm and decided to go for 5 mins extra. When I got back home I found I had forgotten my keys, so I knew DH would be back from his walk soon, so I ran off around the corner to look at the house which belongs to our buyers, adding another 10 mins. So altogether I ran for 45 minutes!!!!!! I'm reckoning on nearly 5k. I've worked out a route which is more or less 5k to do next time. Can't quite believe it!
Then we photocopied a lot if ID stuff (had to put a new colour cartridge in the printer ) and sat down together to start the documents for selling. Got some of it signed off before DH had to go to watch his rugby. Should finish tomorrow.
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxx11 -

My biceps are screaming today, as expected. My back muscles are also letting me know they were used yesterday. (Just to be clear, I did not hurt my back, just normally unused muscles letting me know they were used.)
Got my walk in and now we are heading out to run some errands and grab a poke bowl for lunch. I haven't had one in a while and I am looking forward to it!

Michelle: Thanks for your kind thoughts about my son. I hope he will be able to come sometime in the relatively near future. He needs to get well first. If he has the same flu that I've had, it hangs on a while. I still have a persistent low-grade headache. :ohwell:
pstegman888: I love your stories of Elvis and Cogburn the roosters. Great names!
Barbara: I love AHMOD now that I know what it stands for. Thanks!!! (I somewhat resemble that acronym, although I have only one dog.)
Dana: You look great without makeup.
Heather: Congratulations on finishing your memoir! I am still contemplating the system of buying and selling homes in England. DH says it is just like here, but it seems far more complicated than that to me. We've owned three homes--we are not frequent movers. We sold the first and rented in the new area while we looked for a house. We found one and bought it. We stayed in that house until both of our children finished high school. DH found and fell in love with our current place beside the river. It had never been lived in. We bought it and had both homes simultaneously for a few months while our DD finished high school. We sold that house at the garage sale when we were packing to move to this one. We had a "for sale" sign in the garage and stapled it to the outside of the garage. A woman saw it and bought the house. I guess we had a combination of good luck and good timing. I hope your purchase goes smoothly.
Lisa: I don't run as a form of exercise because it is too hard on my knees. I ride a stationary bike to burn calories and occasionally use an eliptical trainer. It is weight bearing but doesn't pound my knees. I stay away from treadmills. :noway:
I have a riding lesson today. I still feel a bit under the weather, but I'm going to ride anyway. I've been neglecting Arrow, but it has been with good reason. I've had a persistent headache ever since we returned from our trip to see grandchildren and I rarely have any headaches at all. I suspect that this is caused by a virus I caught on the plane. DS is currently suffering from a similar ailment. He was planning to be here this weekend, but has to delay the trip until he is well again.

Spent yesterday celebrating my birthday by drinking a bottle is ziffendel with chips and salsa. Calls or texts from kids, mom and sibs. Cards from a few and lots of wishes on Facebook. Happy Sunday Ladies!
Heather - you give me spring fever with your running! A year ago, did you ever think you'd be out in your running shoes? Good job getting a head start on the house paperwork. Those books on Alcohol sound good - I wonder if they'd pertain to kicking sugar as well? I need Pip's boot in that regard. I was doing so well, sigh. Back on the wagon today, things settled down here so sugar isn't as appealing. DH will cut down to 2 cigs today, that's his plan. I reminded him that many folks have had good luck with Chantix for finally kicking tobacco. Just planting seeds with him works best.
KJ - Oh, I had to wrap that box in duct tape several times this past week when it would pop open and threaten my sleep. Once I even handed it over to Jesus and asked him to go thru and clean it out and get rid of the things I can't change - I warned him He might need to don the hazmat suit, lol. Or at least get a dump truck. Those Thanksgiving sliders and whole meal sounded great
Lisa - when I was on WW and had a lot to lose, I had a chart going similar to yours and I got great satisfaction seeing the downward trend. Also made me realize that plateaus happen then often I'd have a nice drop after a few days or weeks - it kept me from getting discouraged more than once. 40 days... that's a little over a month! So glad Corey is enjoying helping out with the grands! I'm sure your boss is still doing the happy dance at her luck in hiring you for the job. Rori needs an ongoing finder's fee.
I decided to put on my walking shoes this morning and got in half a mile, foot doesn't seem any worse. If it's not raining too hard will aim for another half mile this afternoon.
Black bean salad with diced red peppers and cold brown rice planned for lunch. Didn't get the beef stew made yesterday so that's on the agenda for supper.
Oh - workout clothes...in the winter, sweatpants and a sweatshirt. Summer - baggy comfy athletic shorts and tunic top. Refuse to look at my saggy body parts any more than I absolutely HAVE to!
