We had so much hail Thursday and snow Friday morning that thought we were back in Idaho. What gives? So glad we didn't sell my studded snow tires, will definitely put them on next winter. Who'd've thunk it.
Beth thanks for asking Mary about the corn hole and testicle toss, somehow I thought she was taking DH in for some very strange medical procedures...
Heather and Kelly belated happy pi birthday to those cuties Bea and Joaquin.
Had comments for Janetr, Michele, Terry, Katla and others but the've flown out of my mind.
Welcome geneen, Angela!

Morning Ladies~
had a couple pieces of rye toast and having my tea. going to work in about 20 min... had bad dreams last night , all about Tom and his cheating, even more reason to use my lawyer even though it will cost more in the long run..
Still dealing with dads estate, my brother has been going nuts trying to price out everything..9 -
Good morning ladies! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Getting ready to hit the grocery store, so I will make this a short one! I was going to do my shopping last night, so that I could get my corned beef and veg going in the crock pots and be a coffee drinking lazy person the rest of the morning; but DYS didn't get home from work (with our car, because his is still in the shop) until 7:00. While I waited for him to get home, I got everything cleaned up from dinner and got the house cleaned (sanitized and laundry done). So...I don't have to worry about that this weekend.
Michele- We have a backwards day once a year. The kids love walking backwards, but lose their minds when they have to wear their clothes backwards. Drives them crazy. We had an inside out day, once or twice, and THAT went over well. Most of them put their pants on inside out after going potty, anyway.
Lanette- Please tell me your DH said that phrase ("like poison it tastes") in a Smeagol/Gollum voice!!??
Terry- Woo-hoo! Congrats on the weight loss! Shoveling is a huge calorie burner!
Rye- I think I forgot to comment on that wonderful post about your journey to better health over the past year or two. It really is a fantastic testament to hard work and perseverance! You should be very proud of that and I celebrate with you! You look fantastic! So glad you are no longer in pain on a daily basis!
Well, hugs to all! I better get busy! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -
Good morning! Trying to get some steppage in this morning. Lots of ice this morning, ugh. Upside is I might get a head start on my paperwork that I am 2 days behind on. I am hoping people don't come to get their mowers in the ice.
Work til 2, then off to a Bark and Purr ball. It is a fund raiser for the animal shelter our mustang club supports. Auctions and food. Dress is business casual to dressy, planning on being somewhere in the middle.
The car didn't fall!!!
Barbie and Becca- prayers for continued healing. Remember to keep taking care of yourselves. Our men need us.
I am caught up reading, but have so many comments that I need to sit and take notes to make. Will touch base again soon.
Congratulations to the losers! Happy birthday to the birthday folks! Hugs to those hurting or ill. Thank you all for helping me realize there are others whose lives are similar to mine.

Today, my husband and I went to the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
The first piece was Gulda: Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra, which was quite good.
The second piece was Grieg: GRIEG Peer Gynt, abridged, which was incredible!
We are familiar with much of the music ... but simply had no idea how much more there is to it.
Well worth it!
https://www.tso.com.au/concerts/peer-gynt/
It was an afternoon performance for some reason (that's a bit unusual), so we changed after the concert and did a 40 kilometre bicycle ride.
Toward the end of the ride, we stopped at Zambreros. I don't know if you've got Zambreros where you are ... I think they're an Australian thing. But they are a Mexican food place, which is rare in Australia. A burrito just hits the spot at the end of a decent ride.

Today was a beautiful day for weather ... tomorrow, however, is supposed to be very windy all day with a lot of rain in the morning. So it might be an at-home day.
I hope everyone is healing well, doing well, and enjoying something this weekend.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!
Barbie - hope Jake (and you) had a good night back at home and your pups can come home today. They'll be glad to see you both, and I've found interacting with pets takes a person's mind off pain - at least in my DH's case if they can get a person laughing. And I hope once Jake gets settled in, his recovery will be quick. So glad you have your walking partner and hope you can get walking again today and back into your routine for your sanity
The valium for my DH on his ride home from the hospital - it was when he broke his back (hairline fracture of a vertebra) and the painkiller they gave him made him, well, psycho! Tramadol - we now refer to it as Dammit-all. I went to pick him up and he was thrashing and yelling and angry and loud. So I grabbed a nurse and said why on earth don't you people give him a valium before he hurts himself or someone else???? She came back with the pill and it calmed him down. Geeze! I think a Tylenol would have done the trick for his back pain.
For those of you ladies new on here, my DH was shingling his shop and fell off the roof several years ago. He had to wear a "clamshell" for several months.
Becca - I am so glad to hear Lee is up and moving about. Is this recovery similar to when he initially had the transplant? I don't blame you for not making yourself eat nibbles all day and going to the cafeteria for some real food! I'd have eaten that brownie as well and probably snatched one off someone else's tray when they weren't looking. Thank you for keeping us posted!!
Terry - so sorry to hear your DD was in a "mood". Are you going to be working on more chain maille this weekend?
Kelly - I can't remember where my DH got the "Like Poison it tastes" phrase but he does say it with an accent. Then he acts like he's spitting! Ptooey! LOL. He can be quite entertaining when he's feeling good. I like your "inside out" day, by the way -- we sometimes have those days around here! You've been in the childcare business for a few years now - do you ever hear how the kids do when they get into school? I have a hunch they are at the top of their class in some respects the way you kept their little brains challenged and got them thinking outside the box a lot.
Barbara AHMOD - snow? What? Glad it skipped us this time BUT the ten day forecast shows possibility here next weekend. Nothing sticking though.
(((HUGS))) to those of you worrying about your loved one's health, bad eating habits, etc. I used to as well and have given up. I find it kind of freeing since I don't have to knock myself out cooking since my DH is perfectly happy eating hot dogs for lunch every day and often supper while I eat my salads and beans and what I consider healthier stuff that he won't touch. My only hope is that when he does kick the bucket, it is QUICK, and he feels the same way. When and if he ever has an angiogram for his artery blockage, I'm sure the surgeon will find lots of teensy hot dogs lined up in there!
Have a good weekend ladies! Safe travels to those of you driving in the snow and cold!!

the painkiller they gave him made him, well, psycho! Tramadol
When I had the measles 18 months ago, I was so incredibly itchy and prickly/crawly that I couldn't wear clothes or lie down or sit down. Nothing could touch me, or it would set me off. I even had to wind my hip-length hair on top of my head. It was winter, but I turned on the air conditioning so the house was absolutely freezing and paced up and down and up and down the living room all night long because that was the only way I could get any comfort at all.
When morning came, my husband took me back to the Dr (again!) ... and yes, I did put on clothes for that ... and the Dr put me on Tramadol and a super-strong allergy medication. That combination put me to sleep, and I pretty much slept for the next 3 days.
But I did hear that a person's reaction to Tramadol can vary ... and maybe the allergy medication helped me too because its main side effect was sleep.

I just finished reading a book that I want to recommend. The book is "Running Like a Girl" by Alexandra Heminsley. Heather is the one who recommended the book to me and she has had other great suggestions of books. Even though the book is about running (something I don't do), I enjoyed every minute of story of how the author stuck to her decision to run and how she persevered through many tough times. In addition to the great theme of working toward a goal and not giving up, I found out that the author lives near where Heather and her DH are planning to move.6

Michele in NC, no worries I primarily use those small bottles of shampoo. Since using the food banks, where they have boxes of small shampoos, I can't rationalize buying shampoo. So if I don't think about the fact that maybe someone that was at one of our many coastal hotels opened a bottle of shampoo, but only used a dime sized dollop I'm good. Many times I just pour them all in one bottle, but heck that takes time!
Lotions can be tricky, because they tend to separate. We are not cheap we are ultimately handy and dandy! I tend to look at products high price as a way beauty controls us. I buy Dr Bonner's soap because I get so many showers out of the bottle ( that you cut with water). I mostly use Kirks soap, because for $2 I get a bundle of soap. I'm sure if I submitted to some sort of beauty regiment, I would have healthier skin, hair luxuriously cascading..... But life happens.
So husband woke up at 4am when they did vitals, and at 5:30 am he'd had enough. I must've been so tired I snored most of the night. Dang it! So waking me up early was payback. I was not happy being awoken by husband just wanting to get up! I needed to unhook catheter box, pin bell drain, unplug IV stand. He brushed his teeth, washed his face, then he pushed the IV stand and I held his hand walking the halls. Standing more upright, because he's not leaning over a walker. Damn my independent sailor! His pure orneriness will heal him quicker than any drug!

I can see those teensy hotdogs lined up!!! That is kind of my husband. But I cook him like hamburger helper with corn, then I make what I want. I love that he likes my cooking. For the most part its just simple meals so its no trouble. There are some meals that are labor intensive, but he smiles, pats his belly saying it was good. Why that gives me joy is strange. Must be because for that heart and a half waiting for a liver he had no appetite.
His surgery was akin to his liver transplant. As many tubes and such. His body is in less pain from the epidural implant. Maybe they'll take that out and do oral meds. Right now its, if it ain't broke don't fix it, thinking.

Lanette, Yes, I’m hoping to work on a new chainmaille project. I bought a small piece of old costume jewelry that l want to incorporate into a necklace. It’s a pin so will have to remove the pin piece on the back first.
Happy St Paddy’s Day ladies.

Becca, think that brownie was health food. :-) Hope today goes well with your husband. Thinking of you and wishing you well.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all

morning peeps, kirby had 2 work. going to the gym, drop the kids back home then going to cheer on a friend walking a 5k at our st patty's day run. I would have done it, but too expensive, $50!! I run enough, told her I would be her cheering section6

Lanette, Jake is convinced that tylenol is sufficient for his back pain and has refused to take Tramadol. How scary it must have been for you to have your husband so angry and upset because of the medication.
I've just come back from my walk with my very balanced friend. She is the one who cared for her husband with Alzheimer's for years so she has some sage words about caring for one's husband.

BAck from shopping, groceries put away, being a coffee drinking lazy person!
Machka- I love music of all kinds. About 20 years ago, by oldest brother bought me my first symphonic cd and it was music by Grieg. ABsolutely love it. Listening to the whole thing, I was just stunned in regards to how much of his music was familiar to me through movies, commercials, cartoons, etc. Grieg started a habit of listening to symphonic music through out the day (even during daycare hours) and even my daycare kids will recognize classical pieces used in commercials and movies, etc. They don't always know the composer; but they will always pipe up with a "Hey, I know this song! It's from Miss Kel's house!"
Lanette- I try to stay in touch with my daycare families after their kids outgrow my care. I know the majority of the kids enter kindergarten ahead of the crowd. Many of them enter kindergarten as early readers. For most kids, in general, they all even out academically, by the third grade; although there are always those overachievers, who are grades ahead in reading or math. Many of my daycare kids keep in touch (usually on facebook) and I can see what they are doing in high school college, married life, etc. I am pleased to see how many of them are active in the communities doing volunteer work, etc, even into adult hood. About two years ago, one of my current little boys that I care for, went to the local fire dept. for a firehouse fair. There were local teenagers helping the firefighters with demos and kid wrangling. Well, when this little guy's mom showed me pictures of the day, here was a close up of him and a teen aged girl helping him aim/hold a fire hose. It was a young lady who I had cared for about 13 years ago! I love that picture and have it framed in my entryway.
The sun is shining again, although it is only about 25 degrees. I am tempted to push my lazy butt out the door for a walk. Probably only a mile, but the sun will feel good. ttfn KJ10 -
Did an hour of Prevention Belly Butt and Thigh DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do the Beach Pilates Abs, Bun & Thigh DVD.
Vince got up early to go to the gun show here. Right now I'm trying making this zebra cake. We shall see how it turns out. I would like to go up to Jess' for her birthday, but I have a feeling that Vince doesn't want to, he's hesitating too much. Her birthday is Thursday but she's always asking us to come up there. And since she'll be in St. Kitts for 2 years I thought it would be nice to go up. Plus...I may be able to go to the ceramics place. That's not a real big thing, tho
Lanette - our development is so dark it isn't funny. But when you get to our house..... Wow! What a jean surprise, congrats
M - congrats to you on that loss
Becca - it's good that Lee isn't pushing the pump for pain meds. I remember when I had a hemmerhoidectomy the MD prescribed pain pills for me. I never took them but Vince kept asking me "did you take anything". It got to the point that I was afraid I was hurting myself by not taking them. I called the nurse and she told me that if I can get away with not taking them, that's great. They tend to make you constipated. Not something you want with a hemmerhoidectomy. I remeber I was taking something (mineral spirits?) to keep me loose.
Penny - I use Chrome to get ito MFP and don't have any problem
Went to see the Hobbit last night and I was a bit disappointed. I thought it would be longer. They had kids as the (I think it was ) gremlins and Vince couldn't understand why they used kids.
Two of the layers of the cake just came out of the oven. I'm also trying using these fabric strips around the cake so it doesn't rise in the center. It didn't. Has anyone else ever used them?
Someone at bowling the other night mentioned that she thought I'd enjoy pickleball. I probably would, just not sure where I can fit it in the schedule....lol
It looks like the zebra cake came out decent. I guess we shall see when Vince cuts it open. I'm in the process of decorating it right now. Actually, I'm making a pork applesauce roast and that's in the oven.
Have a question for any baker of cakes (Heather?). One of the layers didn't bake thru. I should have tested it when it first came out of the oven, but I didn't. Can you put that layer back in the oven and will it bake? I have it in the oven right now, just hoping that it'll bake. I'm going to try making a shell border on the bottom. But I think I'll make the icing stiffer than when that instructor told me to. When she kept wanting me to buy that nasty Wilton icing, Vince says that I should have told her that I brough home a cake with both my icing and the Wilton stuff and both my husband and daughter liked mine better (well, they did)
Katie - I've heard so many people say that they like to play Words with Friends. I tried to figure it out and I couldn't!
Becca - you pay $2 for soap????? We have so many bars, Vince can't get over it. I buy it when it's on sale and I have a coupon that they'll double.
Baked that layer. It's still indented in the middle but when I tested it with a toothpick, the toothpick came out clean. The bad thing is that I took the parchment paper off, forgot to put it back on, and some of the cake stuck to the bottom. Don't know why these cake pans make the cake come out more crumbly on the sides. Could it be those things that you put on to keep it from doming (Heather???)
Next I need to steam asparagus and then make the appetizer to take to Rummikub Tuesday.

Lanette I do my shots every other day: mold in my right arm, everything else in my left upper arm. Today is shot day for my. I usually take my antihistamine about an hour before my shots to lessen the chance of a bad reaction. My DH is lucky; only has to take one shot; no mold allergies.
Currently take Generic Allegra in the morning, generic Zyrtec before bed with my generic Singular for asthma. I also take a sinus inhaler generic Nasonex.
Good luck!

BARBIE and BECCA great that hubs are recovering
St Pats Day in Benidorm lots of costumes about and copious amounts of Guiness being drunk (I can't stand the stuff so only tea for me until tonight) It's windy and rainy here.
There is a Spanish fiesta going on too and it's a Bank Holiday on Monday (Fathers Day in Spain) Can't believe it's a year since I posted about this If you Google FALLAS in Spain it explains there ate 3 in Benidorm I'll put pics of the one near our apartment (there is a children's one and adult one)
Couldn't upload more for some reason anyway seems a shame that they will be set on fire on Monday night as they take a year to prepare
