@rheddmobile I'm really sorry for you that you got so much bad advice from the doctors! And talking to your husband instead of you is super rude. In addition "stop running permanently because you might someday get arthritis" - that sounds like the dentist I had that tried to convince me for three years in a row that a certain tooth would "develop caries very soon". Guess the crystal ball was wrong, since this is now more than 10 years ago and the tooth is still fine. So I wouldn't buy arthritis medication yet
I hope the steroid shot won't have any negative side effects, you've been through enough with this already!

@Marissaxzxzxz Welcome back to running and to this thread

@PastorVincent LOL, I can't believe you got pulled aside for running in black! Today I was also wearing a (nearly) black shirt and black shorts for running. But my shoes were glo pink, that probably saved me from being arrested

@marisap2010 Evil shorts! But at least you've got new shoes, yay

@MobyCarp I'm so excited for you! I hope Boston goes well and you can finish strong!

@ddmom0811 I just bought a jar of protein powder yesterday. And maybe I should track my food again. I'm fine weight-wise, but I also suspect that most days I don't get enough protein.

@sarahthes Eeeek, snow? Don't send it my way please! We are planning barbecue on Sunday with colleagues. So far the weather forecast is 21°C sun :sunglasses:

@karllundy I have at least once gone for a 32km/20mi run on a Sunday, when the new shoes I tried on Saturday left me with multiple blisters. It hurt for the first quarter of the time, after that I didn't really notice them anymore.
But I might not be the sanest person to ask for advice about this.
TMI: I have also popped blisters with a sterile needle when they were so large that I couldn't have put on my shoes otherwise.

    --

I'm still in the "take it easy on the knee" phase, combined with a "crazy time at work" phase. So not a lot of running in April yet. The month is halfway over and I'm only at 36.9 km! I think 2018 I ran 180km in April, there's no way I'll come even close this month.
But I've started a new fitnessblender program. Called "Fitnessblender Strong". I've done five workout videos so far, four of them were with dumbells. So I'm hoping that means I will get some muscle gain out of it
I already got a lot of soreness so far. I really need to work on timing them better.
The first lower body workout was on Saturday evening, then Sunday morning I went for a longish run, my glutes complaining every step. Upper body workout on Monday evening, climbing on Tuesday with arms that didn't want to lift higher than shoulder-level... Today I've done an upper-body workout in the morning before work, and a short interval run in the afternoon, that combination worked better.

I don't know if this link will work but here's a short video of the start of @MNLittleFinn 's race.

    https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10212979210847630&id=1012340286&ref=m_notif&notif_t=group_highlights

The link is blocked at my work. How is the weather?

I could see the video. Looks like it was raining, with puddles and minor mud on a road that appears to be designed for vehicle. I infer deeper mud on real trails. I was just thinking that maybe I get rain like that for Boston, only with paved roads; then the runners went past. From the way the runners were dressed, I'm pretty sure it was colder there than is forecast for Hopkinton on Monday.

@garygse I have the Garmin Vivoactive 3. I can see all my zones in my app. I know I can see my current HR while running.

Looking at my last run I was in Zone 5 most of the time. I will be walking in zone 1-3 LOL

After this morning's snow the sun came out and it got really nice out. Bit of wind that seemed awful at first but was okay once I was warmed up. Still a bit sore/stiff from last weekend but less than I thought I'd be. Knee & ankle on my left leg feel a bit touchy but are easing after I took an extra rest day yesterday. I have a 5K race next weekend that has me a bit concerned about the knee & ankle but I plan to take it easy and not go for anything silly like a PR since I'm donating blood on Monday as well.
